This island chain was different than everywhere he had been thus far; it was secluded. Tucked away from the world and at the same time? It had the lively energy of people, the gentle caress of their buildings but the soft influence of nature never seemed to abate. It was all around him and it was as though the people here lived in harmony with the islands rather than overbearing and bleeding it dry. He felt like he could talk to the people here; felt like the fish and the animals were just as likely to spring out of the water to tell them about their days as the people here were. They were charming, lively, and friendly. His strange appearance only gave them a second pause before they too shared his smile. They were physical, showing him around, showing him what they wanted him to see. While he didn’t speak their language they were so kind and understanding. It burned in his heart and made him want to sing; but that would maybe be a poor choice as they weren’t staying in one place. The day edged along and he was eventually left to his own devices on the docks, waving goodbye to the people that had been so kind to him. Sitting on the pier and swinging his feet so close to the water that his claws were dragging along the surface he could feel the music of the area more acutely than before. The people here really did do a marvelous job of showing him around for a good chunk of the day. Drawing in a soft breath he’d start to sing along with that music, pulling in the sensations he felt from around him. The lively nature of the people, the understanding of the animals, how the city itself felt. He could even tell that the rocks while submerged were happy to be here. Well they were happy to just be anywhere and just be in general but he could feel the happiness of this place practically bubbling to the surface. People were genuinely glad to be in these islands. His song attracted some onlookers from time to time on the human half, but he had a few schools of fish swimming underneath his portion of the docks. A few curious dolphins here or there would make their appearance if not for a few moments. He didn’t seem to mind the visitors or the fish or the people. He just sang to his heart's content. The very mana and energy of this place told him the stories of their struggles from before but that was a soft undertone compared to the overwhelming happy nature of this place. It was peaceful. As was he. |
