Yuurei


Yuurei was surprised that a letter from Desierto had come for him in Paradise Dawn. He figured it was because his guild master was associated with the place. It seemed like he was asked to deal with a desert worm. This desert worm was huge and dangerous, and it caused a lot of problems throughout the desert. A lot of merchants and brave souls who traversed through the desert met their end to that creature. It has been like this for quite some time, and they needed someone to take care of it. The berserker was more than happy to accept this job. He enjoyed the sun, the heat, and anything that wasn’t the cold.

The Nephilim and his companion had made their way to Desierto and the exact location of where their client told them to go. It was indeed hot, and the one thing that was interesting around here was that there were no trees. It was Yuurei’s first time in these parts, and this was new to him.

The light mage was walking through the desert. He had a cloth wrapped around his head as he was covering it from the blazing sun. He had his typical clothes on as he could feel the heat. Renji was on his shoulder and wasn’t like the heat. It was messing with his fur, and the Exceed could only complain.

“Why did you accept this? I’m so used to the cold, I’m going to die in this heat.” He said to Yuurei even though he wasn’t doing anything.

“I mean if you want to feel like that I can make you walk instead of being on my shoulder.” He would say this to Renji, which would keep him quiet.

The light mage was trying to figure out where this desert worm would be located. He wasn’t sure exactly where to find it, but he was told a general location of where people would go missing.

It was why he was where he was located in the first place. While moving through the nice, heated sand, he would remember that they had brought a lot of water with them. It wasn’t just that, but they also brought food as well. He was glad that Renji had that bag, or else they would have been screwed.

“I expected this worm to show up already. Is it waiting for me to fall to the sand or something? I can do that if it is what it truly wants.” He made a joke about it, but was considering it.

He kept moving as he wondered how he got stuck with this. It seemed like his good nature got him in this mess.

While he kept moving through the desert, he would soon find something odd. There was a man lying on the sand, and it seemed like he was out of it. The berserker would walk over to him, and when he got closer, he would see his face planted on the sand.

Yuurei went to help the person and when he flipped the person over, he was shocked. His eyes widen as he was surprised to see that this man was dead. It wouldn’t take long, but the sand beneath him would start shaking and he was trying to figure out what was going on. He felt the sand starting to give in on itself as if it was a whirlpool. He had to get out of the spot, so was quick to grow his wings and fly up and away from what was happening.

He would land on the sand that wasn’t having this problem, and soon enough a piece of a giant desert worm would appear. This shit was huge, and it seemed like this was going to be a difficult fight for him. Still, there was one thing he was going to have to do to make sure it didn’t just go back under. He was going to irritate it and hopefully hurt it at the same time.

Yuurei would stretch his arm in the direction of where this monstrosity was coming out from. His magic circle would appear, and then the second magic circle would appear above the hole. A bunch of arrows would soon come straight down from the sky and toward the hole. The desert worm would scream in agonizing pain from the attack, and it would come out of the hole. It would look around feeling the vibration of Yuurei and even the sight and it would lunge straight towards the half-elf.

The light mage would dodge the attack as fast as he could, and he would see it crashing to the ground. That was when he a vibration from the ground beneath him would happen again. He would look down and he would be slapped into the air by the desert worm’s tail. He would hit the sand as he rolled around a bit. It would give the desert worm time to find its prey and started moving toward him.

Yuurei would see this, and he was upset because he should have just started off by using his other spells. He would do just that though. The light mage would lunge away, but while doing that his hands would open as two magic circles would appear. The stars would come out of them, and they would enter his body to make him stronger and faster.

The huge desert worm would look over to Yuurei as the half-elf would get ready to fight against it now. He was comfortable this way and now he was able to fight. The monster was coming straight for him again. This thing didn’t give up on him, which was kind of fun.

The half-elf would use a spell this time to dash away as the worm was on his ass. He needed a way to get away and a good amount of distance too. When he did, he would get into his fighting stance.

The Nephilim would rush straight towards the giant desert worm. Renji was holding his friend’s shoulder as hard as he could. He had a huge smile on his face as he would leap up into the air and he would punch the giant desert worm twice on its side. He would put the creature on its side. It would shriek in agonizing pain from the blow. Still, what Yuurei didn’t notice was the tail coming from behind. He would be smacked by it, which would send him flying to the sand again.

Of course, he would make sure that Renji wouldn’t get hurt. He would push off the sand the first chance he got as he would get back on his feet. He would look over to see the giant worm as he would see that it was moving slowly. It was trying to get back its composure, but Yuurei wouldn’t allow it to.

When he got close to the worm, the ground started shaking again. It would cause him to stop running toward the dying worm. It was then he would see a second desert worm come out from the ground. It caught him off guard, but he wasn’t going to allow this to be the end of him. He would fly upward, but his formation would change. He had to move faster and higher as well. The Nephilim was able to get out of danger and he would land on the ground as his wings disperse.

“Shit, there were two of them.” He said out loud to Renji.

“I can’t believe this, just take them out. This is getting out of hand.” He said to Yuurei.

“Yeah I know, but it isn’t that easy you know this more than anybody.” He said as he was laughing for a bit.

The first desert giant worm would get back to its composure. This was going to be annoying, but he was ready for it. This was what he was getting paid to do and he was going to succeed in it.

The second worm would attack Yuurei though. He dodged the attack and when he had gone to attack the desert worm the second one would come to attack him. He would have to dodge again as he would kick sand into the air. These creatures were annoying, but they were going to eat him if he had stopped fighting him. They were truly a threat to all who walked through these parts. He would take a deep breath as he was remembering everything that he had learned from Jade.

The two worms continuously made their way towards Yuurei, and every time the Nephilim would dodge their attacks. It was nice to see that his master’s training worked, and he continued moving around avoiding them. There was one worm he had to get rid of, and it was the one he had fought in the beginning. He was sure that he could take it out if he landed one or two more hits on it. Then it would allow him to fight the other one without worrying too much.

Yuurei was focused now, as he had an objective at hand. He would look at both worms and he knew which one he had fought the entire time. He had been keeping tabs on the thing the whole time, and now it was time to initiate it. The berserker would run straight towards the two desert worms. They were quick to attack him, but he was also quick on his feet.

He would dodge their attacks as he was waiting for the opportunity to attack. When the first one would head towards him, the light mage would sidestep and punch the monster three times. It would shriek in pain and cry in agony before falling onto the sand. He had taken one out, but the other giant worm was quick on its body and would smack Yuurei away from the first worm.

It would send the man flying, but he would break his fall by landing on his feet. He was skidding on the sand, and when he looked at the second worm, he saw that it was moving around the first worm.

The giant desert worm was crying because of the death of its friend. Yuurei felt bad, but in the end, it was a tough world. He was going to kill this one too. A lot of people were dying because of these things, and he had to put a stop to it. He would take in a deep breath as he was ready to fight it. Renji was looking at Yuurei and he was surprised that his partner was able to keep going. It depicted how much he had grown since the first time they met.

The light mage would start running straight towards the monster in front of him. The desert worm would feel the vibration of him running and it would move straight towards him. It would try to ram itself into Yuurei, but he was quick on his feet.

He would jump up into the air and he would kick the worm once and used his second leg to push off and away from the monster.

The giant desert worm would fall to the ground and Yuurei would be away from it and safely on the ground. He was enjoying this, but he knew that they were going to pay him well for this. He just needed to fight it for a few more, and it would be all good in the end.

“Good we only need a bit more left, and we can bring back proof to the kingdom in Desierto that hired you to do handle this.” He said to Yuurei.

The light mage would nod as he had to agree with that. The worm would get up from the ground and it would make its way towards Yuurei. It would try to strike the Nephilim but would miss as he would sidestep out of the way. He would shake his head as he figured he would go all out now. His eyes turned golden once again, but this was a different type of power.

The mask would appear around his face, and he would grow taller. Of course, his wings would come out and get longer than they were before. The light mage would rush straight towards the desert worm, and when he got close to it, he saw that it tried to attack. He would move out of the way to dodge the attack. It was then it would see the worm hit the ground. Yuurei would see this, and he would fly straight toward the monster before him.

The light mage would crash straight into the monster. The force was so strong behind it that he had gone straight through it. He had made a hole and he moved so fast that the guts never touched him. He would look over at the worm as it would hit the ground next to the other giant desert worm. Yuurei had killed them both and now it was time to get his reward.

Yuurei would land on the sand, and he would walk toward the two giant worms. His form would change back into his original form. He was sweating so much, but it was due to the weather. He would look at the worm’s teeth, and he would take one of them out. The light mage would look around to see if anything else would come at him. He had enough surprises today. Still, with everything being okay, he would make his way toward his next destination. The Nephilim would make their way towards the kingdom that had asked him to take care of their worm problem.

When he got there, he was met by guards, and when he told him why he was there they didn’t believe him. The light mage had to show them the letter he had gotten. When they confirmed it was authentic, they would let him in, so he could get his reward for his deed of the day.

Once Yuurei had gotten inside, he would make his way to his client. There he would bow a bit before presenting proof that he had slain the beast.

“There were two of them, but I took care of them both. So I don’t think your people have to worry about crossing through the desert again or at least for a while.” He said to his client.

They would nod as they heard his words. They would look over to their servant and they would walk over to Yuurei. They would hand him the bag of jewels, and when he grabbed it, he could feel and see that it was a lot of money. The light mage would bow again and he was glad that he had gotten rewarded.

It was then that Yuurei would turn and walk out of the door. He didn’t want to talk more than he needed to. He would find himself out of the kingdom real fast, and he was heading back home to Paradise Dawn.
