Alisa

WORDS: 310 | TAG: @alisa | HUNTRESS

Alisa finished her first quest still relatively early after all, giving her ample time to grab something to eat, and more importantly, to figure out what might she do next. Protecting the old man turned out relatively simple a task for the impressive paygrade offered. Escort the man to the artist he wished to purchase from, beat up some would be robbers who look at a somewhat well off person as an opportunity in the worst possible way, get paid and go home...

"I wonder what kind of client i'll have this time...", mused the sculptress, her smile widening in palpable satisfaction as she thought back to her first mission and wondered if she'd get that lucky twice.

Perhaps she could even hope to have a pleasant conversation with her client throughout the way, something to make the otherwise boring mission potentially less so. Any kind of companionship would prove welcome really, considering she'd end up having to shadow this person every single step of the way, so a girl might hope to at least end up with a polite, open minded sort she might chat with without feeling herself getting dumber with every last word traded.

"And hopefully not take too long doing it either, that would be ideal...", cupping her chin, she clearly remembered how dinner time was almost upon them, so if anything, she hoped to finish this one relatively quickly, before the sun completed it's descent towards the horizon.

With a smile on her face the whole way through, the sculptress marched on towards the designated address of her next customer, going over what she knew from the job board. Judging from the choice of wording, they seemed like a younger client, male most likely, but no information was included as to what exactly they were planning to do in the lower districts. Then again, she probably needn't wait too long for a chance to find out for herself

Only this time, her client was nowhere near as delightful a company as her earlier one. Lord Buckwell was his name, this time a proper noble with the pedigree to match, and in plenty of levels this detestable attitude that left the sculptress' brow twitching the whole way, crossing her arms after she greeted him, and recieved nothing but half baked flirtation attempts. A young dilletante and hopeful debonair, wasting not even a single moment to flirt with her:

"I must be lucky indeed. Instead of a big, brawny old brawler, I get a breathtaking beauty like Alisa Vollan? Guess I need to go on these adventures more often don't I~?", spoke the man, trying to sound smooth, with no clue of just how pushy he came off.

Or perhaps he just didn't care, and expected the rest of his employees to behave in much of the same way, to bask in the arrogant attention he gave them at every turn. Merely listening to him speak left her brow twicthing, taking a deep breath as she knew she could keep it professional if he at least kept his hands to himself... Even if the mere act of her breathing deeply had his eyes wander down to her chest, and before long even drape an arm around her shoulder:

"What do you say... Once we're done with this how about we head out for a drink? My dad's basement has the finest wine you'll ever taste.", he boasted, until the sculptress could only wince... Smelled like he'd had more than enough to drink already

But in the end, Alisa could put up with a lot... But she wouldn't tolerate a random guy's hands sliding down her body without a care in the world, like he had every right to do so by merit of birth. The absolute worst of the bunch when it came to entitled nobles.

In the end she stopped him long before his sleazy hand reached the shapely softness of her rear, squeezing hard enough on his wrist to leave him wincing and backing away:

"I'm going to stop you right there.", she declared, glaring int his drunken eyes, preventing him from doing something he'd dearly regret, "If you start getting frisky, you'll have to find yourself another bodyguard. I won't warn you again."

Alisa was in a very, very bad mood, inching steadily closer to that point of absolutely livid upon which the offender would have been better of praying for his life. Her magic power naturally oozed out even if she intended to stop it which she really didn't, resulting in a choking pressure filling the air all around them, making it all too clear that, even without uttering a single word, pushing Alisa to this point of unbridled annoyance could very easily result in far graver consequences than simply having to hire a new bodyguard.

"Okay, okay, geeeez... Don't need to get all vexed over it, I was just fooling around...!!", relented the man, trying to wrench his hand away, but only actually succeeding when she deigned to loosen her grip enough for him...

She could tell the man was obviously quite drunk... But there was only one person in the whole world whom she'd permit to fondle her that openly, and he'd never come close to her not even in a million years. She'd been used to dealing with pushy men for a long time now, but she had to admit... It's quite possible that her marriage to Sofia Serena had made Alisa quite a bit more ferocious with others helping themselves to the previleges she deemed exclusive to her wife. And a random dilletante hoping to get his hands on every beautiful women he saw had absolutely no chance when held up against that kind of bond.

"So...? What is that you need to buy at this hour...?", inquired the sculptress, taking a deep breath as the man abandoned any and all ideas of feeling her up, allowing the woman to cooly scan him head to toe as she readily imagined what it was that he was going for, especially after picking that foul smelling breath of alcohol. Really, she'd have expected someone this wealthy to get their hands on a decent brew for once, but it seems like beggars can't be choosers hmm? It didn't look like the man had actually procured his liquor himself, instead taking what he wanted from his family home.

...And would you imagine that? Alisa was right... Along the way the man explained exactly what he wanted to buy. A special kind of homebrew. Not just any alcohol, but a special kind of homebrew, a moonshine if you will, brewed traditionally in Myras. It had been banned for quite a few years now, but many peasants still made it and, for the most part, the authorities themselves turned a blind eye to it in order to keep this tradition alive. The higher ups may frown upon it, but the rank and file of law enforcement were in no hurry to shut it down. And many of the yet remaining brewers could be find exactly there, in the lower district.

"Could you possibly keep quiet for even two minutes at a time...?"

As for the company she was hoping to get... Well, that idea died the first time he tried groping her butt, but if there were ever any hope of redeeming it, the man wasted no time butchering it on reflex. Loud and boisterous, he was absolutely incapable of doing anything lowkey despite venturing into a place where he knew or should know that people hated his guts, in the early hours of the evening of all times.

Not particularly haughty or cocky like Alisa expected him to, at least so muchh as to further aggravate her, but he certainly did it enough to not only put himself in danger, but make her life difficult in her efforts to keep him safe. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around, visibly alert, catching people peeking out their windows with far greater annoyance than she ever could, though those weren't the ones that worried her:

"Oh, what we have here boys...? A stuck up little shit walking around like he owns the place?"

Alisa sighed, all but rolling her eyes... There we go again. She watched the man behind that voice stepping out of an alley, and two more behind him. And right after that two more, coming from another alley behind them. Well this ambush felt quite a bit more planned out than the last one but then again... Alisa's client was quite a bit louder than the last one, and infinitely more infuriating. All the necessary ingredients had been added, stirred, and cooked to a simmer.

"Tell you what... Why don't you toss out all your belongings and walk back the way you came? If you're quick about it, we might even let you two go home in your underwear. I'll give you to the count of three... One..."

Well, that was a lie. Alisa could tell from the hateful look in their eyes, these guys had no intention of letting the man go, even if for whatever reason he found it in himself to do what they wanted. He seemed much to drunk to recognize the danger he might have been in had the sculptess not been by her side. Or perhaps that was exactly the same reason why he looked so nonchalant about it?

"Stay close to me...", spoke the sculptress, her eyes primed on each and every last one of the hopeful thieves as she reached for her sword, taking in each and every last threat... Unlike last time, she couldn't simply stand between her foes and their prey, not when more stood.

"Two... Final warning now..."

Utterly undaunted by their intimidation attempts, Alisa didn't even draw her sword, staring into their leader's eyes... Not even uttering a single word as those wine red hues spoke volumes of their own accord. There would be no money falling off a tree here, and if they decided they'd take it by force, they'd have to fight through an opponent far greater than even the sum of their parts:

"One...! Tch... You two fuckers really gonna make this hard on yourselves, huh? Fine.", yet he too had no intention of backing down, veins all but popping in his forehead whenever he looked at the wealthy drunkard who'd come to the lower district for seemingly no apparent reason other than to cause an infuriating ruckus.

"W-wait boss...!", but before the man could move, one of his boys rested a hand on his shoulder, pointing at Alisa with visible apprehension on his face, "That woman... She's the one who beat up Jonah and his boys."

Oh... So word travels fast around here. She'd no doubt the thief expected their fearless leader to relent at the sight of someone who'd so one sidedly dominated some of their friends... But it hardly worked out the way he expected. In the end, the scruffy leader's brow twitched as he reached for the dagger in his hilt:

"Is that so...? Well that makes things easier.", and before she knew it, it happened. Stretching his hand out, he shouted as a yellow magic circle appeared before his hands, making Alisa's eyes widen in surprise, "Eat this!!"

Magic?! To think mere street thieves could actually go as far as learn magic... There's nothing saying they can't outside from someone's prejudice, and even Alisa's as well, after all, for she hadn't even humoured the possibility for even a single moment.

"Myyyy... So there's more to you lot than meets the eye hmmm~? How surprising~", and yet not for a single moment did she come close to losing her cool - letting go of her sword, Alisa stretched her arms out in both directions as two, far more powerful.

She could admire their determination to have learned magic without any school or master to guide them... After all, Alisa had done it herself. But unfortunately for them... They really should have learned to pick their fights as the lithomancer protected herself and her ward from front and back. As she predicted, the leader wasn't the only one who knew magic, for two more spells lit up from behind them, and yet another one up front. And so she used one of her strongest defensive spells to watch the rear, making sure to keep their enemies at bay, just long enough to clean up the threats up front:

"Duck...!", she called out to her ward, crouching down as the second defensive spell sprouted from the ground up front, a wedge shape barrier just barely strong enough to whitstand the lightning blast.

The rear barrier held on firmly for a while, though the front barrier gave way soon after, crumbling into dust when the second spell, this time fire elemental, hit it head on... But by then Alisa had already knocked her ward out of the way and sidestepped, stearing clear of the small, one meter wide projectile. At roughly eight meters away from her, she had ample time to raise her guard and launch her counter attack, which she'd achieve, swiftly and decisively, by readying her sword to nip the problem in the bud:

"You should have considered the risk when you decided to rob people. After all, no matter how strong you are...", lowering her visor, Alisa charged forth, grabbing her greatsword by the hilt as she rushed in at full speed, dashing into the fray, stepping between the trio of boss and his two boys, projecting her killing intent with a ferocious look in her eyes, "...There's always somebody stronger!!"

There's always a chance you're about to mess with the wrong person, and for this too foolhardy thieves, they were about to pay the price. Acknowledging that she'd possibly underestimated these men, the lithomancer knew all too well of the chance that at least one of her foes could have stronger magic than the spells they first threw at her. And that is exactly why she aimed to sever whatever chance they might have to reveal them. Maybe some other time she'd have enjoyed pushing them into tipping their hand but... Right now, she had somebody she needed to protect. A loud, obnoxious, utterly infuriating party boy, but a client in the end. And so she pulled her sword out from behind her back as her right foot came down, toes pointing away from her body, guiding herself into a horizontal swipe of her sword.

Alas, Alisa had no intention to kill these men, even if she doubted anybody would miss them much. And thus, she struck them with the flat of her blade, still with more than enough power to send them packing with a few broken bones and a painful story to tell... And once she'd taken out the leader, the remaining two hardly posed a threat, even after they broke past her initial barrier.

"Are you going to leave now or do I need to do the same to you...?", asked Alisa, cool and callously, shooting the two a unflinchingly frigid, yet ferocious glare. They weren't getting their way here, no matter how many spells they threw...

...And to their credit, they understood their situation well enough to turn around and run off with their tail between their legs. Guess there's really no honor among thieves huh? Not like that's her problem or anything:

"Hmph...", in the end, the sculptress, sheathed her sword and rose her visor, turning to her frightened client, "...If you can actually keep it down, we should avoid any chance encounters. I doubt anybody will try anything unless you seriously infuriate them."

And who would have thought... She was right... To his credit, her client wisened up enough to avoid making a ruckus, allowing him to finally go meet his brewer and buy himself a bottle... Or several. But the moment Alisa escorted him back to his home, he paid her handsomely for her time... Which almost made all that mess worthwhile.
