Lumikki

Lumikki was sent word that the facility she went to with her Uncle Brone and Gnicolas was asking for her aid again. Something along the lines that her skill had been proving useful in the treatment of patients since it was rare to get cold generators such as them to visit. Lumikki sighed deeply at the request, she had half a mind to tear at it and leave it be. Her sigh turned into a whine though when she thought how good the rewards have been.

The desperation of the nurses so far in need of her magic did sway Lumikki to take the request more seriously. And so she lightly cried to herself as she began to pack her bag for the trip over there. On her way to her teacher to ask for directions, she dragged her feet. Opting to eat a hardy meal before even leaving the guild hall with Geri. Figuring she might as well also "borrow" her Uncle's mount for the trip.

It didn't take long to arrive at Talaz Lagaar or find the Grand Harbor. Seems Geri trekked this path a countess amount of times already. Lumikki laughed at the idea of how many times her Uncle was dragged to this place.

Before she did submit to the task at hand, she got herself ice cream before she entered the place. Stuffing her cheeks full of the cream before getting through the doors. She knew she wouldn't be able to enjoy the luxury of her snack inside but she felt she needed to treat herself to even get through those doors alone.

When the nurses had seen her enter, they nearly snatched her up. Dragging her down the many mazelike halls as they clued her in on her task.

"It is good of you to finally come, you have no idea how happy we are to receive your assistance once more." Began the nurse gripping Lumikki's right arm.

"Yes, you see there had been a massive spread of the virus as of late, and a large number of children have seemed to catch it. They are already prone to spreading the virus exuberantly so it was a high priority to contain them. The thing is they are hard to maintain. We can't get them to sit still and take their medicine. Their bodies also keep reaching high temperatures as well and it only makes this harder." The nurse on Lumikki's left arm chimed in before the nurse on the second finished to point being made.

"We thought since you could pull cold temperature lower than Mr. Heavyaxe and even make constructs, we could trust that you could both entertain the children enough we could get them settled but also keep them from boiling over from their fevers."

Lumikki looked at them incredibly annoyed. She thought it would be as simple as her last task. Force a room into a near-deep freeze in hopes the cold would delay the work of the virus. Allowing the nurse and staff to see if they can cure the patients. Now it sounds to her like they want her to babysit. No wonder her Uncle didn't even bother to tell her of this request. A scowl crept up her face as she looked at the pleading nurses and their grip only became tighter. Seems this was important enough to incur a frost mage's wrath. Lumikki sighed deeply, suppose she should at least think of the children.

Lumikki allowed them to lead her down a hall and enter the metal lift. Taking them to a floor she didn't even bother to note. This place was a maze and she would need a map to find her way out. She could only understand less and less how Gnicolas could be so calm here.

When they exited the lift, it was another sequence of halls and turns before they entered what was marked as the Children's Ward. Big doors blocked the way as usual until one of the nurses entered a code in the button pad. Everyone fixed their mask properly before entering.

Like the other room many beds lined the walls, but this room was much bigger. There was ample space to move around in the center which was both advantageous and a hindrance. It gave room for the big pieces of magical machinery in the middle of the room to be pushed around and adjusted for the kids. Though it also gave so much room to run around as well.

The nurses left Lumikki's side to join the fray, a lot of serums to prepare now that she was here to mind the children for them. She tried to plaster a smile on her face to cover her annoyance. She didn't mind children, to be honest, she found herself entertaining many that she encountered. It was just the context of this mission that somewhat pissed her off. Still, she had a job to do and those rewards were always forever delicious.

And so Lumikki went off to work. Throwing her hands in the air to create her black snow. The kids at first were quite confused. They were a varied bunch, from seven to twelve. When they saw the light flurry summoned out of nowhere, they finally stood still. The nurses and staff looked quite realized, especially since Lumikki had hardly been there a minute before already doing the impossible.

"Aye you lil ones, let's play some games, ya? But to play you'll have to be good." Lumikki waved her arms in various ways to construct things from her dark frost. The snow being black only intrigued the kids more as they felt her snow and tested the sensations. She conjured plenty of snow for all the children to try their hand at, and a few slides for good measure. She held her constructs with her frost magic but took care not to make the room all that much colder. The kids were already sick and they could not afford to get sicker.

The nurses and staff instructed the kids to line up if they wanted to play. Lumikki chimed in with them so that the kids would comply. Before any of them could continue to play they would need their first dose of serum and to put on light jackets and gloves. The kids were vibrating where they stood but they were more than eager to listen. The nurses worked fast so that they could let the kids go off and have fun.

When all the kids were free to go, Lumikki began to host an array of games with the little ones. Ranging from making snow devils and snow beasts to small snowball fights. The kids had the time of their life as they also obediently took their medicine. When all the doses were given out the kids had long begun to wear themselves out. The nurses enjoyed the added bonus of the kids needing naps after the long day was done.

For the good work, and a show of their gratitude they allowed Lumikki a meal before she went off back home. Though the meal hardly compared to the happy faces of the children and the little stuffed bunny doll one child gifted her for the marvelous day.
