Kon

Appearing little more then a war-ravaged cripple, Kon in his maimed state left Myras and its stoney exterior relatively unscathed from the Dark Incursion raiders who instead seemed to favor those untainted by injuries from countless battles. It was only until after he left the region itself that he summoned forth once more his golden prosthesis, his arm offering a counter balance of sorts without it causing him to stagger in an uncomfortable manner, while his eye provided him with a vision that few would ever be able to see. In the great distance he could see ongoing conflicts, in the past he would have engaged with comrades to fight against the scourages that attacked these lands, but he had grown tired of such matters and now was more focused on his own internal wellbeing somewhat of an irony given he had already lost so much off himself and was about to risk it all once more against the Silisa made of fire. Time and Time again he had been tempted to just turn around and continue pottering within the floating island safe and secure but he endeavoured each time he spotted a farm lit ablaze by either the dark incursion influences or the silisa.

While he couldn’t fight the invaders from another universe without incurring the wraith of his doppleganger, he could certain tide the follow of attacks from earthly beasts even if they were magically embedded and likely to burn him on fire. He would of course preferred to have used his skeleton key which rested around his neck to travel to the East but he dared not risk it lest he be thrown into the heart of the dark universe and consumed within it. No he would only risk such a thing if he truly had no other alternatives. Besides Kon rarely had the chance to travel through the country without being hounded by foolhardy aspiring adventurers who learned of his exploits before being chastised by the same people days later when they hear of the nefarious deeds he committed only a few years later. Instead he only saw a single person on his journey, someone whom had become somewhat of a companion to him on the way to the east, he had come from Joya apparently travelling through the countries passing Bosco and now travelling to Central Fiore and to its capital of Era.

They had meet at a crossroads with this man as equally scarred as Kon introducing himself as Wen Wei, a particular name but not one out of the ordinary for a Joyan. He seemed an earnest fellow telling him of his family, a wife and daughter who were both waiting for him back in Joya and how he was travelling to Era to give a gift to those that had done so much for him. In fact the man had been so generous that Kon too received a gift despite never having met the man, a strange silver ring with intelled shards of sapphire around the entire piece, it was truly a beautiful piece of jewely and not something one stranger would give to another. Not one to offend another person’s culture, Kon wholeheartedly accepted the gift whilst also offering his own, a gothic necklace embedded with a vitality charm said to offer the wearer an extended life as long as they are wearing it. A gift that was received with the same fervor that he had provided though not worn immediately with Wen Wei proclaiming he would give it to his daughter when the time came.

Kon

A curious turn of phrase to be sure, but again not one to question the customs of his companion, Kon carried on regardless. There seemed to be an underlying grief that was weighing Wen Wei down but again it was not something he’d probe him for. It was only until the duo stopped for dinner and a nights sleep that the two really began to connect, they had revealed more about themselves. Wen Wei was a merchant who had been living in the north many years ago, leaving the archer quite anxious as the duo shared a meal together. While it was a delightful soup, there was an underlying metallic taste that lingered after each sip which he couldn’t shake off. Bittererly his otherwise friendly companion had began to reveal just who he was and why he was there, in reality they had been a slave under Kon’s reign in the North with his family suffering the same fate. His daughter and wife had not been so fortunate to escape the torture Kon had put many of those in the north through. Their frail frames had been put through the meat grinder the same as all the others that were sent to the mines. The three had been involved in one of the all too common mining collapses, his wife had died almost immediately while his daughter suffered for days stuck between rocks. Wen Wei escaped the brunt of it suffering the injuries that lingered upon his face.

Regardless of the remorse Kon might have for the actions that lead to so many deaths and injureis, he knew that Wen Wei would care little for any of it, he had taken away the light of his life and now he was burdened with a sense of duty to avenge his family. He revealed to the archer that he had been researching them throughout the years and knew that he’d never be able to fight them on common ground and so had to devise a plot to even out the odds. And that metallic taste Kon had in his mouth was precisely that, a carefully crafted poison that would erode the man’s fortitude hindering his abilities both physical and mentally beginning with the soft tissues of his lungs before eating away at the rest of him. An antidote was possible but with each moment without one he would continue to experience terrible pain and possible long term damage.

Throwing the bowl of essentially poison into the dirt, Kon backpedalled away from the man as he grimly smiled at his weakening condition, knowing that he’d need to see a healer as soon as possible, removing Wen Wei would be the first step in achieving his goal. Reaching for his bow, Kon wrestled it out of nothingness, all the while Wen Wei began to dash towards him with a concealed tanto blade. Crippled by the man-made venom, Kon’s reactions were dulled allowing the cold-sharp blade to land a blow before his armor had the chance to slide around his feminine frame. Still even the single slash was enough to stir the man prompting him to lash out in anger in a flurry of blows, many missing a few grazing but one ultimately finding it’s target square in the sternum sending them flying into the war torn farming field in the distance. Wanting to prove the man and show that he has changed despite his worsening condition, Kon weaved through the charred remnants of the crops and hoisted the unconscious Wen Wei and took them to a Men’s shelter where he hoped they would find some semblance of comfort. The archer had also left a brief but concise letter for the host to give to the man when he came to but for now, he had more presenting issues to attend to namely the poison that was tearing his insides apart something he’d would need to resolve through a healer in Magnolia, the closest town with the skills to handle something so specialized.
