Alisa smiled and nodded as her lover took the lead in the negotiations, hand on her hip as she looked between the pirate and her wonderful wife, appreciating at least finding someone willing to talk. What is it with pirates and never giving anything away for free? Even when it's near worthless to them:

"In any case, join me at the bar yeah? I'll buy you two a round, on us, and I'll see if we can't help each other out.", nodding towards the tavern from which he'd exited at the sound of the commotion, the man took another big, hearty chug from his mug as she strode his way inside.

As the sound of sea birds squaking overhead gave way to the bustling, boisterous chatting and chanting, Alisa's nose twitched immediately at the smell of stale alcohol mixed with the sweat of hardy sailors who hadn't bathed anywhere other than the sea for years. Well... Not that she'd expected to find a cozy, welcoming environment, where all she saw were rowdy rabblerousers left and right, turning in awe to gaze up the sight of such fine figured femmes.

"Mmm, so the news already reached as far as wherever you two came? You're obviously not from any of the pirate islands around these parts...", he snickered, pausing at the bar itself as he looked to the two women, passing his mug to the bartender, requesting a refill for himself two fresh servings for his two guests, "The storm came at the same time as the demons... Seems like they're the only ones who can sail around these parts. Or, fly, I guess... The ones who aren't too demons and venture too deep, well. They don't usually come back. Not in same way they came at least."

Alisa's thoughts immediately wandered to the pirates they defeated back in their home city... Pulling back the stool, Alisa slipped onto it, resting her round, shapely behind on the not so comfy seats, arms crossing over the bar as she accepted the mug as the bartender threw it her way:

"Indeed, we met one of those latter cases. A captain and his whole crew of Daemons sailed as far as Hargeon before we managed to sink his fleet."

WORDS: 300 | Classic Casual

“We're nothing if not on the nosy side~?” Demonstrating a lingering and perhaps lifetime-embedded suspicion of pirates as she seemed to wait for the man to drink before she even took a whiff of the liquid she was offered, it wasn't like Sofia to stand on ceremony when it came to getting her booze on, but with a beautiful black bride to watch over and a possible grudge lingering she decided her paranoia was better than leaving an opening for her historical enemies to exploit. Usually she wasn't the type to judge someone for who they were of course, but these men had made a choice to be outlaws and crooks of the sea, and that was hard for her to resolve, no matter how friendly they seemed.

“So, that storm did have something to do with this, huh? Seemed like an awfully hefty coincidence…” At the very least appreciative of the information she was offered by the captain as it seemed to confirm what she had suspected ever since the three of them had fought their way through that monstrous gale in the days before, Miss Serena stroked her chin and nodded at the confirmation, and then finally took a small but not wholly unsatisfied sip from the concoction she had in her cup.
“Sounds like there's something out there making monsters of men, hm~? Sounds a bit like that trouble we had in Astera, doesn't it?” Looking next toward her lovely Lisa and narrowing her gaze as all the accounts they had gathered thus far seemed to point to the idea that there was something out there which was corrupting the people of these waters and turning them into demonic apparitions, the influence of devils couldn't help but liken the situation to the disaster they had faced on Fiore's west coast, and while she was keen to solve the situation once and for all that day still haunted her memories, and made the usually mirthful minx a little bit anxious. After all, she had nearly lost her radiant raven that day, hadn't she?

Alisa didn't have nearly that kind of caution... Something she should commend Sofia for, but in this particular scenario, she simply didn't deem it possibly that these pirates could set up something so roundabout in an attempt to poison them, probably lacking most of the mental faculties necessary for such a convoluted plan. Underestimating her opponents no doubt, but Alisa still drank straight up from the mug, scrunching her nose a little bit. God that was some shitty rum... Maybe she just had high standards, because even if the brew wasn't poisoned, the taste left much to be desired:

"If you ask me, seems almost too much of a coincidence...", he added, taking a swing from his drink as he shook his head, "I wouldn't be surprised if the damned demons conjured up the storm from the abyss or some shit."

Alisa nodded as she took another chug... Well that didnt' taste as bad as the first one. Was that bad? Probably, if it meant she was getting used to shitty rum... Or maybe it was just an aquired taste:

"Mmm, that defenitely sounds like what we saw there too.", Alisa arched her brow, folding her arms under her chest as she leaned into the bar slightly, turning her attention to her breathtaking bride, "Maybe the same thing happened here? Something or someone opening the gates to the Abyss."

"Nobody knows for sure... I guess the only guys who might actually know what's going on are the ones closer to the eye. Most of the big islands are all there yet, but we can't really sail that far down and hope to come back alive.", sighed the Captain, shaking his head, rubbing his temple. Alisa could only imagine what did Pirates hope to find on the bigger islands. Somewhere to haul off cargo perhaps. Judging by that dejected look on the Captain's face, probably something vital for their piracy business. In contrast to that downer look as he drowned his sorrows, the man sounded almost hopeful when his attention turned to the two women. Somebody who had faced the demons and lived to tell the tale, "Though you two sound pretty damn experienced dealing with demons. Astera you say? I met a survivor once who said that was literally hell on Earthland."

“Maybe we'd have more luck, right babe~?” Nodding as the captain here seemed to show a note of reluctance to get closer to whatever was causing it, from the state of his men and how handily she and her beautiful black bride had seemed to get the better of them Sofia could see why he seemed to feel so intimidated by the prospect of venturing near to something so dangerous, but also felt a sense of confidence because of this which implied that the two of them would have more of a fighting chance. After all, it wouldn't be their first rodeo, not even this week, in fact.

“Got through that storm well enough, so hopefully once we get our ship fixed up, we can see about dipping deeper into that, hm~?” Emboldened by how they had bested the unholy hurricane or whatever it was that they had fought their way through on the way here but moreover feeling like demonic breaches were something of a specialty for the two of them, Miss Serena was more than assured in their capacity to whether rough seas by this point, and knew that their strengths seemed to match up perfectly with the threat that they faced as well. I mean, that wasn't even by accident either, given she had made a special effort to strengthen her abilities against demonic devastation ever since the breach, hadn't she?

“It was… Quite the day?” Reminded of the reason behind her rigorous regimine as they were asked about the event itself, a part of the pegusus princess seemed to tighten and cool within the girl as she recalled the utter sense of dismay she felt when her beautiful bride had been swallowed up by that gap between dimensions and the beast responsible for it, and though things had ultimately seemed to work out in the end still felt a note of anxiety over the incident. Enough for her to make sure she did everything she could to ensure that would never, ever happen again…

"Fufu~... Indeed, it will take a lot more than an army of demons to get in our way~", nodded the scultpress, smile widening as she shot a knowing look to her luscious lover, feeling a tingle at the base of her spine at the the thought of the two of them, braving the unknown, cutting a swath through whatever and whoever demons came between them and their goals.

Yet even as Alisa bit her bottom lip, the captain himself didn't sound nearly as enthusiastic, taking a swig, only perking up as Sofia mentioned their adventure to get all the way out here:

"Unfortunately, nobody's gonna find that out unless they actually go in and see for themselves. Most of the big islands got swallowed up in that storm.", he replied, shaking his head, pausing inbetween sentences for a drink, "I can only imagine... Musta been a helluva lot worse than just getting demons flying around the sky."

Alisa sighed... She saw plenty of death throughout her career but... Rare were the times where she saw death for its own sake, meaningless, serving nothing but the amusement of horrendous masses of demons. She squeezed tighter around her mug, all but threatening to crush it in her hands, only to sigh and take a swig before the Captain presented a proposition:

"Tell ya what... If you two would be willing to escort us there, we can take you deeper into the storm. If we get as far as the island of Nereis, that's the best you can get around here really. If nobody on that island knows anything about this storm, well...", the man shrugged, and yet smirked with such visible confidence that left little doubt to the truth of these words, "...Nobody knows, really~... If you need to haul off merchandise, or recruit hardy crewmen you couldn't find anywhere else. That's always the place to go. Ain't no exhaggeration, most pirates find their way there every so often, though right now, it's pretty damn far into the storm."

WORDS: 300 | Classic Casual

“It was… The worst day of my life?” The mind of Miss Serena drifting away from the moment and into memory, Sofia could remember the sheer terror she felt as she stepped into action and shivered because of that, and yet knew that her recollection only got worse from there. Even after all these years it hard for her not to feel that same hopeless sense of emptiness she remembered watching her beloved bride disappear with no way of knowing if she was dead or not, and though things had worked out ultimately and from her perspective with relatively brevity, it was a chapter of her life that still felt immeasurably lengthy and even more unpleasant. Time had flowed differently for each of them, but from the perspective of the princess, it had felt like it was a lifetime until she saw her wonder of a woman once more.

“It might be nice to give Lumen a rest, but… Are you sure your people aren't holding a grudge for earlier?” Pushing away that icy ache which was inflicted by her memory to focus on the moment, once more the suspicion of the siren seemed to linger as she was given an offer by the captain which seemed to work in everyone's interest, and yet as she looked over him and the faces he commanded she couldn't help but feel a sense of risk in. After all, they had been in the throes of combat only a matter of minutes before, had they not, and Miss Serena for one wasn't too keen on the idea of having nothing but ocean and vengeful intentions surrounding her even without the idea that they were likely to face more of the demonic menace from Astera.
“What do you think, babe?” Deferring to the dark dish nearby because of that, at the very least she would not be quite by herself, and between the pair of them they would likely have plenty of advantage as well should things turn toward a confrontational direction. Though really these boys would need to do a lot more than buy her a drink and share a few stories if they were going to have any chance of her trusting them to watch her back, weren't they?

WORDS: 3800 | TAG: @Sofia | BATTLE

Alisa reached her hand out on instinct, squeezing Sofia's tightly, tenderly... Those months she spent without laying eyes on her beloved... Her heart yet ached at the thought of them. Time flowed differently between the two dimensions, and yet... For both of them, those days and months apart felt like a grueling nightmare, the likes of which Alisa wouldn't forget. Putting her mug down after one last swing, Alisa held her lover closer, pulling Sofia into her:

"Ahhh, believe me, most of our crewmen weren't recruited without a brawl somewhere along the way. If they held a grudge, we'd have all killed each other off before we even set sail~", Alisa looked back over the shoulder as the captain dismissed Sofia's concerns, and indeed, she could see some semblance of truth in his words. Instead of glaring hatefully at the two women conversing with his captain, the men made merry, drowing their sorrows in the free flowing alcohol, even the one toothless guy whose teeth she'd knocked out herself didn't lose his cheer when their eyes crossed, "Whatever they say, when the going gets rough, they'll feel reassured to be on a ship with people who can hold their own in a fight. Once you're on a ship in the middle of a storm, you survive together, or you sink together."

The sculptress's lips widened at these words. Didn't look like the captain was trying to sweet talk them or anything of the sort. With how much alcohol he'd been downing, even the strongest of wills can scarcely keep up with such a convincing lie. Rowdy and unpleasant though they may be, these pirates at least had a kind of unity she could admire... That alone sold her on the proposition as she shared a knowing look with her beloved, still not letting go of her hand:

"I think this could be a very beneficial arrangement. We'll serve as your muscle, and you'll serve as our guides. At the end of the day, we don't really know much about these islands, especially not with them enshrouded in storm clouds.", Alisa smiled, reaching her hand out, running it down those lustruous brown locks with a loving look in her eyes... Years ago, she might have said something about protecting her, but, right now... Sofia hardly needed her protection anymore did she? With that in mind, she returned her attention to the captain and nodded, offering her hand out, "Very well then, you have a deal. Let's help each other out, hmm"

“Heh, I suppose you're right there, huh?” The tidal temptress found tilting her head to one side and raising her brow at the reasoning of the man in front of her, while Sofia had been suspicious of the motives he and his fellows had presented thus far, there was little that she could do to oppose the reasoning that he shared with her. Daresay, one might have even called it wisdom, and something she had to respect to boot.
“If they take us out, they'll have no one to fight the monsters we're hunting~?” Nodding as she acknowledged the clear and rational sense that he suggested to her and perhaps a little bit embarrassed that she usually sharp mind she possessed didn't pick up on it as well, the brunette sighed as she realized that she was probably letting the bias that her upbringing and influence of her uncle had over her get the better of her, and because of that the emerald eyed enchantress decided to cool her hostility a bit. After all, it wasn't like her to be difficult when meeting new people, was it?

“I'm starting to think you might just have a chance of changing my mind about pirates~?” Adopting a slightly warmer bearing because of that and seeming a little bit more herself as well, a mite of the tension which Miss Serena was feeling seemed to slip away from her as the man inspired a note of confidence but more than that respect, and so she showed a little of her own. After all, perhaps she was a little guilty of tarring this group with the same brush that she had needed when both Valerica and Hargeon had been sieged all those times, and maybe it was time to start considering the exception to every rule, eh?

“And besides, I'm not about to let my wife wander with a crew of colourful characters without me, am I babe~?” With that in mind the water witch nodding and sliding a hand around the waist of the wonder of a woman she loved, maybe it was the fact that they were about to spend the coming days surrounded by less than honest men but even as she tried to treat the group fairly the fox couldn't help but feel like she might need to 'mark her territory', and did so by giving a rather definite word and gesture of the bond of matrimony between them. Not that she thought they had much of a chance, but well, there never was a good reason why she shouldn't show off, right~?

"Yeah that's what it comes down to here... Up until now all we could do was evade the demons.", the man grumbled once more, chugging what remained of his mug before motioning the barkeeper to refill both his and the two women's, "So i'll tell ya what. You two focus on the fighting, and leave the sailing to us~"

Well... She found these terms acceptable, and by the sound of it, so did Sofia... Alisa shared a knowing smile with her wife, squeezing that marvellous mitt ever so gently, thumb stroking back and forth along the back of her hand with a smile on her face:

"Ufufu... Indeed~... The pirates we met in Hargeon could learn a thing or two from you.", added the sculptress, chuckling playfully as those plush lips curled wider:

"Pirates come in all shapes and forms i'm afraid...", he grumbled, rubbing behind his neck, not so immune to flattery he could avoid that almost awkward chuckle that left her lips, grinning to the two women, "Must be why we're all at each other's throats all the time eh?"

All those grandiose legends of great pirate kings and unifiers were just that. People delve into piracy for all sorts of reasons and various levels of greed, but all of them share an unquenchable thirst for freedom. So it should come as no surprise how different people seek that freedom for insidious deeds, to benefit from it at the expense of others:

"My my~... How lucky, to think I'd have such a breathtaking guardian angel watching over me...", she quipped, feeling a shiver shoot up her spine as that tantalizing touch slid around her waist, draping her own arm around her lover's shoulders, planting a tender, loving kiss on those lips, "Guess I'd better do my best, so my guardian angel can just kick back and enjoy the show hmm~? Very well then, Captain. Consider us temporary members of your crew~"
