Alisa

WORDS: 520 | TAG: @solo | JUNKETSU

Now that she's spend this late afternoon doing research, only one job yet remained to be done. This wouldn't really be a pleasant job, and the sculptress knew it well enough. She'd done it on more than one occasion for similar reasons as this one: Some clients much prefer hiring a guild mage over a potentially inexperienced part time worker... Even though they cost a fair bit more, the final result is usually better too. Alisa read the request a bit more carefully over dinner, for all the good it was worth: Comparatively little. The bartender had hired her for this job as well, but unlike the first one he really didn't go into detail concerning what manner of help he needed. Obviously not beat someone up, as she'd already done that.

Instead, he asked her any willing mages to come to his bar by night... Maybe he needed a bouncer? That seemed like a far more plausible reason to hire a guild mage, but depending on the area he set up shop it could potentially turn into a higher ranking mission. Perhaps it was a safe spot? The only crooks around there that she knew of was that con man, and she'd already given him a piece of her mind and her sword,so maybe it was a safe zone after all? Then why would he need a bouncer. All in all, this train of thought was positively worthless but Alisa didn't really mind indulging in it over dinner, fully aware she'd only truly learn the job once she got there

"Well then Lumen...", she say, addressing her partner as she finished her meal, setting the cutlery down over the empty dish and wiping her mouth, "Shall we get going?"

Not that the Litwick would object to this, considering she too had already finished her meal a good while ago. Thus, the two gathered their bearings and stepped outside unto the cool night air. A gentle breeze grazed the woman's cheeks like a lover's caress as she approached the same bar she'd visited that morning, reaching it in about twenty or so minutes... Only to immediately cringe at the numbe of people inside. Thus she took a deep breath and gathered herself, before walking up to the bar.

The moment he saw her, however, Batra the bartender was all smiles, welcoming the tall, beautiful woman to his bar like a bonafide golden goose. And why wouldn't she? Every good bartender knows good looking women not only attract men, but make them spend money in hopes impressing them.

"Oh, good to see you again! Mighty fine work this morning... I don't suppose you're here for more are you?", he greeted jovially, draping his towel over his shoulder after wiping his hands

And the only thing better than having a stunning customer? A stunning barmaid of course! Fortunately for him, it just so happened this was exactly why Alisa had come here tonight. Apparently though, he needed her for something other than wait tables...

Cook.

Well, Alisa wouldn't really starve to death if forced to cook her own meals. But she'd definitely not like it, neither would whoever else had to help her out.

First off, she needed clothes though... Thus, she walked to the changing room the owner pointed her towards, and looked over her options. As she didn't know what she'd be doing, she wound up bringing her most expensive outfit, just after having it washed this afternoon... How vexing... Determined not to have to do so again, she went the extra mile and changed her attire completely, picking out a somewhat comfortable maid outfit similar to the one worn by the waitresses.

"Ooooh, you didn't have to go that far girl...!", commented the bartender. But under the admiring eyes of the whole clientelle he gave her a thumbs up regardless, "Well, though that was definitely a great idea. Good job!"

She smirked at the approving look and flipped her hair as she made way towards her actual job, the kitchen, as if this had been her idea all along, as if she'd been a natural cook since childhood. In the end Alisa could fail miserably, but in that case, she'd always find a way to make it look intentional. But here, she didn't have that luxury... As she looked onto the cooking utensils, she couldn't help but gulp, wondering how she was going to stylishly make her way out of this.

"Well, it's only hot dogs... How hard can it be?", the though, grabbing a sausage and dipping it in hot water. She found the hot dogs were somewhat easy to make, and she could trust her sight and smell to pull them off right before they got completely boiled to a crisp. She got some charred bits here and there, but if she squeezed in enough ketchup, mayo and fries, nobody could tell the difference.

After serving the first hot dog, she predictably kept her eyes on the window as she made the next one, watching as the silent Lumen delivered the meal. Fortunately, the customer was too drunk to care or even tell the difference. The burgers were just as easy, yet the breaded chicken and baked potatoes posed a somewhat bigger challenge. Drinks however, were relatively cheap compared to what she was getting paid for this... So on more than one occasion Alisa threw in a complimentary drink 'on the house' just so that momentary joy of getting a free drink would distract the customer from the comparatively low quality of her cooking... Or at least make them drunk enough not to care.

On the other hand, merely getting her customers drunker would up posing a bigger problem for Lumen who'd been stuck helping wait deliver meals. Suddenly, she yelped as a bolder, inebriated customer groped her rear. Yet even through the window to the kitchen and with the pressure of fulfilling all orders, she watched her innocent partner like a hawk. When she spotted a pervert up to no good, she stealithily flicked her wrist. At that moment, a crystalline blade from her cutting bloom spell erupted from the ground beneath the table, slow, silenty growing upwards until it poked the man's crotch. Wide eyed at the sudden, menacing pointiness on his family jewels, he leg go of Lumen who quickly darted back behind the counter, and at that moment, the crystal blade shattered and vanished... In such a loud bar, nobody but that guy had seen this, even that guy didn't know what to say:

"You alright buddy? Ya look like ya saw a ghost.", commented one of his friends, resting a hand on his back

"Oh... N-nothin... But I ain't drinkin no more."

Guess that guy will be spending less money huh... Oh well. But for Alisa, the 'no hands' rule applies not only to herself, but her closest friends. Luckily, she didn't have to intervene or buy that many more free drinks to make up for her mistakes, and after the clock struck midnight, the Batra closed his bar and paid her for her time...
