Saturn
Much of his time in the rune knights had been fruitful, from learning about the world he sorely wanted to protect to having to deal with the various denizens within it. There was much here that stood out to him still and while it was alien he was gifted with something many didn’t even get the option to experience. A life among the mortals that were looking for guidance all their own. These thoughts and many more came to him as he sat at the rune knight headquarters. Quietly reading a book.

He had recently been promoted to Major in the rune knights, the highest rank you reasonably could be without having to dethrone one of the mightiest mages in fiore from the top spot. He had no desire or drive to be that rank and didn’t much care for even the one he had been given. But responsibility often was given to those that didn’t want it and he simply just accepted it after a while. He didn’t feel he did anything to earn it personally but something deep down told him that it was the right decision.

One of his lower ranked members came by with a message for him, a heavenly scented letter that spoke of a whole other world. A whole existence different than this one; it was making the recruit act oddly and he’d bid them to leave, feeling as though this message was from someone he didn’t know. Cocking his head to one side the… He’d sigh as he realized that he was doing it again. Considering himself something that he truly was not. Sliding a claw through the envelope he’d look somewhat melancholy if that was even something you could call it.

There were no words on the paper he was given, no ink was on it, but it spoke to him non the less. His mother was a powerful being that transcended the natural way of things here on earthland. The way she communicated was beyond anything anyone here could possibly understand and the song that he heard from the paper was unlike anything he could ever think that would come from his lips or even from any song he could try to spin. It was quite literally breathtaking.

It told him about the inner demons that he was facing, that she could feel what he was going through even though she was so far away. That she was proud of him in the efforts he was making to understand the world. It was an awful yet cruel place that was filled with love and warmth. It was with a heavy heart that she had some clues to give him regarding what his first task she wanted him to do. She had never asked him to do anything before and he was surprised that she was doing it now.

A long forgotten land now hosted its own cadre of demons, demi-gods and a soon to be malevolent being that was his antisis. She wanted him to figure out what land, what enemies he had to face and what he could do to stop them. The message folded in on itself and shortly the demon was face to face with a representative of his mother. A being not quite her, but not quite… itself either. It drew his breath away again as it sang to him. A true meaning that was lost to him again as he sat there reflecting on the information that poured into his being.

He was left wanting for some time, sitting there and staring at the empty space his ‘mother’ had been not too long ago. His breath eased out again and he realized that quite some time had passed, at least several hours. Furrowing his brows the demon stood up and then pondered the information in his head. A forgotten land? A nameless place? Somewhere people hadn’t stepped on in quite some time and beings he had to face?

It was the woman that summoned him and her cadre. He was to stop her. His expression shifted and he’d quickly leave the knights headquarters. It’d take some time but he had a ship that could take him there if he got to one of the shores or if he decided to take a vessel that used the skies. The latter seemed more likely and easier. If not a bit faster.

He knew where he needed to go, the captain was hesitant but both jewels and the rune knight symbol made them forget their woes. The Demon stood at the head of the ship the entire journey, even during the many storms and further pounding weather of ice or even of flame as they kissed the sky. He spoke very little and kept to himself, it wasn’t until the second week of flight that they finally found what his mother had been talking about. Lush greenery greeted them and the forgotten smells of the land that was uncultured came to them. This place had forgotten man longer than many lifetimes it seemed.

As the ship came down from the sky saturn motioned for the captain to halt their descent. He’d hop off the side of the ship and let himself be carried by the winds down to the shore. Lightly landing on his feet, there was no reason for him to have them stay here or tarry any longer than they needed to. If he succeeded he would have a way of getting home. If not? Well there wouldn’t be anything of him left to even come back to fiore.

Snorting to himself at that line of thought he’d turn his head to look up and down the beach. Trying to get his bearings as he felt the ship leave behind him. They wouldn’t think twice about asking him if he was sure. The money spoke for itself and they’d be fine with knowing about this place right? A small shrug and he’d step forward, the first of many on this journey he had barely even started on…
