Details

Measurements: The katana is 1.5 meters long, out of which 20 centimeters is its hilt. The shield is 0.5 meters in length and width. Both of them are attached to each other and cannot move individually.

Physiology: Some things are not always what they seem, and that is the case with the curious entity known as Benimaru. While at first appearing like nothing more than an arranged wall ornament consisting of a shield and sword decoration, Benimaru is in fact a ghost, with said shield component actually being its greater body with what can only be loosely described as arm appendages protruding from the hilt-like component of its body structure. Save for these two limbs, consisting more of thick strips of blackish material eventually stretching into purple fan-like "hands", one would hardly be wrong to assume that Benimaru was not actually a living entity. Though not as clear as its limbs, the small purple flame which appears just behind the scabbard of the blade and at times faintly glows within the eyes and mouth of the mask upon the shield could otherwise give away that Benimaru is more than just a simple arrangement.

Description: Benimaru is a ghost that inhabits a blade and shield. Many are unaware of this and refer to it as the Oni's Cursed Blade and Shield.

Lore: It is said that it is able to detect the innate qualities of a warrior; legend has it that whoever it recognizes as a worthy warrior is destined to become a great leader. Benimaru relies on the life force of its partner, but it will only consume small amounts. Should someone try to wield Benimaru without its recognition, it will drain most of their life force immediately. It is rumored that a Daimyo once tried to forcefully wield Benimaru and had their life drained completely.

Abilities

Skills:

Tethered Hover: Benimaru may hover up to 3 meters high within a range of 5 meters of the user. This does not apply when Benimaru is equipped.

Companion Perks:

Mana Burn: Upon hitting a target, they will lose the equivalent of one rank lowers worth of mana. Should Benimaru split, it will only apply to Benimaru Blade.
Physical Armor Piercing: Benimaru ignores armor when dealing Physical Damage. It deals damage straight to the Constitution of the target. Should Benimaru split, it will only apply to Benimaru Blade.
Cursed: Upon hitting a target, Benimaru deals two ranks lower of damage to them. This costs sustain mana and can at most be sustained for 2 posts. Should Benimaru split, it will only apply to Benimaru Blade.

Partner Perks:

Equip: Benimaru can be split into a Sword and a Shield and equipped by the user. The user must have their Main and Off-Hand slot free to do this. It does not matter whether the user can normally wield a Shield in their Off-Hand slot or not. The split creates Benimaru Blade and Benimaru Shield. The split items share the same durability, since it's still a single entity, which is their remaining Constitution. The damage of Benimaru Blade is the Strength of the user plus the Strength of Benimaru. In addition, the same applies to Benimaru Shield if the user wishes to bash people with it. The spells that are attached to Benimaru may still be used.

Effect: Benimaru spews out purple flames through the mouth of the mask. The purple flames cover an area with a width of 4 meters, a length of 15 meters, and reach a height of 5 meters. In addition, the purple flames ignore the equipment of the target. If the user is wielding Benimaru as Benimaru Shield, the user must only aim Benimaru Shield in the direction in which they want to use the spell.
