Her arrival to the observatory was not something that she felt really merited an award. She had dealt with a host of chimera already and the ones that were now in the lobby made her stand there in surprise. They didn’t look anything like how the others did. Their multiple eyes swiveled and took in their challenger. Her breath caught in her throat and she wasn’t sure what they were going to do yet. None of them moved. None of them were hostile. She eased out a breath. She could see that they were dangerous. But they were hunched in a fashion which meant that they wouldn’t be as speedy right?

The first shrieked, then the second. Then the third and so on and so forth. Their voices would have been overwhelming to her still as a werewolf but as a demi human they just made her scratch her head. Staring out quietly at the group before slowly raising her spear in a defensive posture. The silence that followed and the surprised that was etched on the ‘faces’ of these chimera made her wonder if they realized their scare tactic wasn’t driving her off.

Chattering they’d charge at her, dozens at a time where it felt like their mere mass was enough to push her out of the observatory. But she persevered…

Their fangs snapped at her, their claws grasped at her. She felt them try to pry her armor off. But to no success. The magical nature of her garb flared and they chattered like beasts in her ears. Her fist balled into a mighty mallet and she’d slam three with a backhanded swing away from her. Her spear coming around to create a wide clear range around her. Slicing through them like a blade pulled straight from the forge through butter.

They weren’t tough, hardly so. Nothing close to the beast she fought on the regular. Could the chimera from outside even claim the same? She felled scores of them but they always seemed to have more in reserve. She felt her aching bones and the aching nature of her body start to catch up with her. The mana heavy motion in the room caught her attention and she’d shudder.

She couldn’t do that again lest it affect her mind and turn her into a beast. So she opted to rely on the strength of her failing body. She felt the spear pulse in her hands and she’d blink as a crack of light ran along her forearm. A frown spread on her lips and she’d look around. The beasts were impatient but she had proved that she wasn’t someone that they wanted to mess with…

She felt the scrambling of their claws against her body, she felt their teeth against her skin. The pain they inflicted on her was paltry to what was going on in her body. She slammed her head so hard against one of them that they shattered into a fine mist. Causing all of the beasts to freeze; their eyes widening so drastically that they’d slowly start to back away from her. They recognized what a beast was like. They recognized what a monster acted.

Lucretia was beyond anything they had ever fought before and beyond any strength that they could put into words. They chattered, chittered and circled her. Staring at her like a wolf pack hungry to learn more. She stood there quietly. Silently. Her ice blue eyes followed one then another. She felt her irritation rise as she could tell they were looking for openings. They wouldn’t find one. Not on her. Not like this.

The first one to leap at her was like in slow motion. She muttered a single word and like a flurry she turned them into a fine mist. Not even bone remained of the beast. There was another long stunned pause and instead of letting them work through their panic she set upon the chimera like a beast…

She felled scores of them in what seemed like moments, their bodies while tough and durable to those of normal ilk she was not like that. She was a thunderous warrior with a stride that demanded respect even if she was ‘wounded’ like a beast ready to fall. She felt herself grow more distant as she slaughtered the chimera’s until she was left in an empty hall.

Her breath was heavy, it rattled in her chest. Her heart pounded, she could feel the blood in her ears. She could feel the weight of her tongue in her mouth. Her muscles didn’t seem to want to work. She’d stagger a little bit and lean on her spear. Gulping for breath. She had ‘wasted’ what precious energy that came from that absorption of mana on this group.

She could feel the mana in the air, goading her. Testing her. It’d be so easy to take it; to fix herself with it. She felt the anchor that she had set start to adjust but there was something deep inside. There was a sharp pain in her side and she’d grunt as she had failed to notice the last chimera use it’s last motions to try to kill her.

But it had failed and with it she snatched it’s head off of it’s shoulders and tossed it’s limp body away from her. Coughing up blood the wolven demi human could barely stand much less walk. But she bit her cheek and with the pain she felt pushed forward.

The damnable first ‘group’ wasn’t anything like the second. The second group was a lot tougher and a lot more of them. She felt their fangs on her fur, their claws tickling her sides and cutting bloody swaths on her arms. Her blows seemed to be received far better than before and her fine misting of their numbers was seemingly earned with a resolute anger. The anger that she felt seemed to only feed her own range.

Her own need and desire to survive far surpassed that of the ones here. She slammed her spear into one of them, cleanly slicing them in two. Her hand was still strong enough and had enough force behind it to punch off one of their heads in one go. A fact that made the host flinch in union.

What kind of matter of beast found itself in their hall they seemed to wonder? As her blows rained down on the host she too racked up injuries that would be long suffering. If she wasn’t careful this could spell an end-

A mighty end of Lucretia von wolfenstein would not be found in some nameless Observatory. Rise above.

She felt the passion flow through her body and her strength that had been waning instead seemed to leap forward in bounds not normal for one of her stature. She let out a roar of anger and her blows became a flurry. Her strikes were thunderous and she cleaved through the foes so fiercely that it was not soon till she was standing amidst a pile of corpses. Covered head to toe in their purple blood.

Hah. Hah… Heh.

A lone chuckle and she’d head forward; she could see the stairs. She could feel her destination growing close…
