The stairs to the second level seemed like a god send, like the end of a horrible nightmare to some and for lucretia a brief moment of respite as she leaned against the wall. She could feel every fiber of her being screaming out for release. Like her body wasn’t ready for whatever was coming. Exhaling slowly she’d use both the wall and her spear to drag herself up the steps.

One after another in a long line. It seemed to go on for miles to her even if it was only a few flights. Her body was failing her in more ways than one and only when she heard the chattering of someone not a beast did she become apparently lucid again. Placing a hand to her head she’d let out a soft breath.

Must I do everything myself… I wonder if the chimera managed to- Oh?

The view was a surprise to her; a small almost petite looking figure with a mechanical face of some kind with plenty of fur and whirring stared back at her. The only reason she could tell it was surprised was due to the fact the face turned into an exclamation mark. Something that… Made her stare a lot longer than she intended to. Shaking her head she almost managed to speak before the figure scoffed.

Just another adventurer looking for another span of dungeon. Shade dear, please get rid of them and we can use her for some genetic material or something. Must be tough to have gotten this far…

Unmoving was the creature that had been standing off to the side as the scientist continued his techno babble. Her jaw dropped a little bit as she usually did have to look up for anyone. It was usually the other way around. Her breath caught in her throat as he approached. A creature with eyes strewn about it’s body, cold hard scales and a long sinious body stalked towards her. Sharp needle like fangs and claws. One of it’s limbs seemed to disdend and turn into a host of blades.

This monster had one goal and one purpose. To protect the scientist.

To prove herself worthy she supposed she needed to fight this bodyguard. Gritting her teeth she’d push herself up away from the wall. Prompting many an eyebrow to raise from the beast as it adjusted it’s stance to work with her openings. It was clearly a killer…

His presence was intense, his stance was wide open. Full of traps. She could feel him bearing down upon her. They shared a moment of where they were sizing one up and she wasn’t even sure who made the first move. But both of them leapt to action. It was a flurry of blows that was so incredibly out there that the blood that had been laced into her fur from all the beasts from below started flying off with all the close calls that the other had thrown her way.

One arm, then two, then it’s tails. It’s tongue, the biting. The slashing. Her spear, her fists, her own tail even. She’d kick out one of it’s legs with a thunderous crack, it bent the wrong way, cracked back into place and split it’s arms into multiple sets. One. Two. Three. Plenty of limbs to grapple her if she let it. Which she didn’t. Slapping one away with her spear, another with a leg. The third pair gouged her sides deep with their claws. Looking to follow up with it’s tail. Trying to ‘spear’ her on it. She’d slam her haft down onto it causing the beast to screech in pain.

It was a flurry of motion and activity; she’d barely be able to keep up. Feeling it punch into her body again and again. It was a killing machine and the scientist seemed to pay neither of them any heed as they fought. Like it was somehow beneath him. This sparked some kind of rage within lucretia; an intense rage that only was answered by a bolt of pure light lancing out from her spear. Slamming the beast on it’s chest and launching it away from her.

It might have been tearing her body apart but the spear was a powerful tool when mixed with her latent magic ability. Standing tall as the beast had slammed into a bookshelf, sending books every which way. A grumble heard from the scientist. But as the creature picked itself up so did the bookshelf with all of the books slowly floating back into place. Like this was something that happened regularly enough.

The circling started again, it was sizing her up and with a snort she saw that it split it’s tail into three. So now it had several different attack vectors and was really good at using them. It opened up with a barrage as it closed in, looking to grapple her and stab her to death…

It’s tails wrapped around her spear, dragging her close. She felt the claws of each of its limbs lash out at her. Death was closing in from every angle but something told her that the beast was feeling it just as much as she was. There was an moment as though it seemed like it would manage to gouge her again.

In one fluid motion she spun her spear around, slapping away every limb and twisting up it’s tails in a knot. It shrieked so she headbutted it as she yanked it down. Sending it sprawling backwards as it was still entangled in her weapon. Steam seemed to be rising off of her body and she’d let out a fierce growl. The scientist seemed to actually be showing interest now. Grasping the beast by the throat she’d hold it up off of the ground as it lashed at her or at least tried.

Sure it could split it’s bodyparts but it didn’t seem like it could put them back together tied up like this and with a snort she’d avoid one of it’s snapping motions. Drawing a fist back and ready to put it out of it’s misery she only stopped when she heard the approach of the scientist behind her. Her tired limbs ached and she’d turn her head.

The petite little thing was standing there, rapidly tapping it’s foot as though waiting for her to finish what she was doing. With a twist of her hand she snapped the beasts neck and she felt it go limp. Letting her spear fall out of it’s tangled limbs before scooping it off of the floor. The scientist glared at her like she had just ruined some grand experiment or something.

Honestly what was it with these types that didn’t even put any stock in life; lucretia had half a mind to fight them and she’d grip her spear tightly as she saw that the beasts form regressed into a simple puddle of darkness on the floor. Slowly blinking and turning back to the scientist who was now busy scooping that ‘mess’ into a bottle. Mumbling to himself about adventurers…

Lucretia had to lean on her spear and breathe for a moment; she could feel consciousness fade in and out for her. Time was not relevant for a moment and she was trying to do her best to stay with it as the scientist worked on getting it’s beast into the bottle…
