The Religion Regulations

RELIGION

  • Religions are one of the most complex aspects of humanities ranging from the belief of a single diety being responsible for the creation of everything in existence to a religion focused on a pantheon of gods who are responsible for aspects of life ranging from things as vague as a god of war or as specific as a god of Mining.

  • Users may upon creation of their characters opt to join a religion or remain secular until they join one at a later date.

  • Characters may freely change religions by submitting a claim in the character review, while possible to change from one religion to another, this will result in the character being excommunicated preventing them from rejoining their previous religion for 3 months and any other for 1 month.

  • Members rejoining their previous religion will begin as Believers regardless of their original standing within it.

  • Religions may have holy sites which provide those following the religion with a bonus once they have performed a pilgrimage to the site. This must be done by completing a rank-scaling Neutral request in the location titled Holy Site Name Pilgrimage: [Username] each month. This does not add to the user's S-Rank cap, however can not be used to claim the extra bounty or contract rewards.

  • Members of faith may also pray to their religion once per week which is the equivalent of completing a neutral quest that is one rank lower than them. This can be completed anywhere in a topic called Worshipping Religion: [Username].

  • Leaders of the Faith must be appointed upon its creation, they are burdened with the responsibility of bolstering and maintaining their religion alongside creating storylines and events appropriate for the religion. Existing Religions have their own leaders which can be found in their associated religion topics.

  • Users may alternatively form their own religions if they meet the requirements starting as an emergent religion. Over time and development, users may bolster it, potentially replacing existing ones within the world.

  • Alongside getting an active bonus from completing pilgrimages to holy sites each month, Characters who become more devout towards their religion, bolstering their status within it steadily over time and gain influence within it.

    • Believer: The lowest in terms of religious status, believers can perform pilgrimages each month to a holy site and pray to their religion once per week.
    • Zealot: Zealots are truly devout in their religion and will fight for their god/s with ferocious vigour. This causes them to receive an additional 10% Jewels and Experience when fighting against members of other religions.
    • Apostle: Consisting of up to five followers, these members are true to their cause. They may also invade one more person per month as long as they are of a different religion to them.
    • Leader of the Faith: They are burdened with the responsibility of bolstering and maintaining their religion alongside creating storylines and events appropriate for the religion. Leaders of a Recognized Religion receive a 30% discount on the purchase of their temple for their religion.

RELIGION CATERGORIZATION

  • Religions are broken into three categories based on their relevance and scale; Sanctified, Recognized, Emergent. Religions, particularly lower denominations, are particularly flexible in their categorization.

  • Sanctified Religions are worshipped in at least one country as their primary religion. These are also considered fixtures of their country, however, can be subject to more changes through the influence of members. Examples include Illumin in Fiore, Caelum and Minstrel, Hellenic in Seven, Shindou in Sin, etc.

    • Requirements to create a Sanctified Religion:
    • The Religion must be a Recognized Religion.
    • The Religion's leader must be active for at least 6 months after it was first created.
    • The Religion must be worshipped as the primary religion in at least one country which can be established through completing an event.
    • Worshippers must complete 3 long storylines where they replace a country's religion, these may be invaded by those with the targeted religion.

  • Recognized Religions are worshipped in mass however are not considered a primary religion for a country. These are subject to frequent changes and are often diminished by far stronger religions. If enough public pressure is applied a recognized religion may quickly replace the primary religion of a country and become a Sanctified Religion.

    • Requirements to create a Recognized Religion:
    • The Religion's leader must have created a temple for their religion.
    • The Religion's leader must be active for at least 3 months after it was first created.
    • The Religion must be worshipped by at least 8 individuals.
    • Worshippers must complete a long storyline focusing on formalizing their religion.
    • Five or more Worshippers must have completed five topics about their religion together.

  • Emergent Religions are the smallest of any religion, essentially cult-like in numbers, struggling to achieve Recognized status, they largely remain on the fringes of society. Should enough individuals begin to follow an emergent religion, they may foster into a recognized religion.

    • Requirements to create an Emergent Religion:
    • The Religion must be worshipped by at least 5 individuals.
    • The leader of the religion must complete a long storyline with at least two other believers of the same religion.
