“Another D-rank quest, huh? Really? That’s what’s available for me? Geez, I thought all that training I had done would have got me some recognition in the guild.” Alaric took the loose piece of paper back from the woman who was helping man the guild’s questboard. He knew she didn’t make the rules and was just doing her job. Still, he couldn’t help but feel like he was given this crummy quest because of what he was rather than what he could do. Oh well, he had to make ends meet somehow. Bron wasn’t one with cheap tastes, that was for sure. Since crossing paths with him, Alaric’s found himself in quite a bit of trouble with people. Bron had sticky fingers. Couldn’t help himself. It was in his nature, greed. Alaric understood the relationship and Bron understood Alaric’s boundary. He knew if he crossed that, he’d be right back out in the cold wilderness and hunted like the rare beast he was.

The two wove their way through the streets until something caught Alaric’s eye. It was the dead of winter but there was something quite green and living making its way high up into the sky. He was still several blocks away but took a moment to pause and look upward towards the giant plant. “Yeesh. Maybe he wasn’t exaggerating when he said this was a big problem. What the hell could that be?” He shook off the awe of the moment and pressed forward. If the reports were true, people were getting sick by touching the plant. It didn’t seem too massive or scary, but somebody had to be the cause. Something like this didn’t just appear out of nowhere. As they turned the corner to the block where the vine was, Alaric was met with a wall of bodies. “Ooof He muttered as he crashed into the person before him. He was met with a slight grumble but the person was too preoccupied by the plant growing towards the heavens.

Alaric pushed his way through the crowd before getting to the beanstalk. People were not too happy with making way but with his muscle, he was able to easily make them move. Now that he was at the stalk, he took it in. It wasn’t too thick. He would have thought something so tall would need a sturdier base but here this was. “Stand clear. By order of the city this is coming down.” Alaric pulled Devil’s Right Hand back and threw his whole force. Once his fist made contact a magic circle appeared and an explosion would race throughout the stalk. If it wasn’t ready to fall with his fist’s blow it was now. The beanstalk came crashing down. Alaric was able top get a sample of the stalk and head back to the detective. He needed to give him the sample so he could collect his reward. Once he got his reward he would be on his way. He needed to get back to the guild and show them that he could pull his weight.
