PouchKaz was already in town and decided to help some of the locals with a bit of work. It felt like a little while since he had gone on a mission. The tasks placed in front of him were fairly simple. Just make sure some guards were putting up posts in the correct places. He rolled up the note and tucked it into his tunic. Nighttime had already come and the now returned vampire walked the streets with ease. It brought a sense of satisfaction to be back to this form. It was tough but he had missed some of it.
The vampire dashed up the hill and through the forest with the cover of the night all around him, until he saw a guard at work. “Hey good work,” Kaz said as he stopped next to the man. The beacon was almost complete, and The guard thanked him and together they put the finishing touches on the beacon.
Kaz headed further in until he saw another guard fast asleep next to a finished beacon. The man had been working hard. Kaz pulled a small cover over the man’s chest and let him rest. The last beacon stopped Kaz in his tracks. Of course, it couldn’t be easy. He knelt down beside the dead body of a guard. Unfortunately, he couldn’t tell how they died. Yet.
The beacon was incomplete. It seemed that someone wanted this thing to stay that way. Kaz flew back down the forest, stopping at each guard along the way and warning them. Reaching the final guard. He told the man about the murder. The guard handed Kaz the reward and went to inform the lord.
