Odin †

Odin fell to his knees, coughing up blood as his vision began to blur. He had failed. In so many ways, he had failed his tasks. Morrigan would never be freed by his hands, HER blessing wasted by the Apostle who had done so much to gain her favour. Reign would never know the anger burning with the Eudaemon at the King's betrayal, but he hoped his guild would continue in his footsteps. And the one who had beaten him once before, the woman who had caused Odin to seek out immortality, to dispose of Lucifer's power in favour of the Lich. It was almost fitting that she would be the one to end him.

His vision only had a few seconds before it left him completely, he could feel consciousness slipping away, and in that moment he knew death was coming to greet him. His eyes darkened, and he fell.

Alisa

WORDS: 400 | TAG: @Odin † | HUNTER

How had it come to this...? The official meeting with Erebus and Jin hadn't even turned out so horribly. She found them misguided, but well meaning, much like Odin himself had once been during that first time they fought. It felt almost poetic that their last battle would happen in the same square as their first one, back during the civil war. But they fought not over Eternal Nightmare's plans for the kingdom, but something far more ominous, that not even Jin or Erebus had mentioned during their meeting? Did they even know about it? About Odin's unquestionable loyalty to Morrigan, and his desire to see her unsealed? Alisa didn't ask, and by now it was too late to ask as he laid half dead on the ground in front of her, both of them equally spent. Her sword had laid in splinters just a few meters away, shattered early on during their battle... Her bodysuit in tatters, blood dripping from her exposed wounds, no longer capable of providing any significant protection. But Alisa still had some fight left in her as she loomed over her defeated foe, producing a crystalline blade and holding it to his neck, a stern, resolute look in her eyes:

"I'll ask you again. Is Morrigan really worth dying for?", for Alisa, unsealing that cataclysm was something worth killing for, without hesitation. But in all the time they'd known each other, their disagreements had never ran so deep as to degenerate into a matter of kill or be killed. Perhaps some lingering doubts about killing him, somebody she'd grown to respect after all this time, had lead to her winning only in this sorry state. And even now, after nearly leveling Hargeon's square throughout their battle. But she wouldn't get the answer she hoped for... Odin wasn't a man who'd lie even to save his own life, "... Very well. Farewell Odin."

Her sword moved swift and mercilessly, even as her betrayed a hint of sorrow in the last moment. What happened with Vyra a few weeks back... The Wizard Lord hadn't been directly responsible for that, but Alisa still couldn't help but partly blame him for it on account of once belonging to that very same cult... Once her blade finally sung cleanly across his neck, severing his head knowing he no longer had the powers of undeath to keep him going... All that fury she'd been projecting faded away, that stern, frigid tone mellowing as she she gritted her teeth, the blade in her hand shattering as his head hit the ground.

"You've been fighting way too long...", Alisa crouched in front of his severed head, running her hand over her face, paying her final respects to her worthiest foe, at times even friend, "It's time to rest."

She'd no doubt Eternal Nightmare would seek vengeance for what happened here, but at this point, there was no going back. Nobody could be allowed to summon that living cataclysm back into the world, regardless of their standing in life... Or even their relationship to her.

Nana

SAY GOODBYE

The young woman's purple eyes watered as she witnessed the events from a nearby but safely distanced rooftop. Nana was a member of Odin's guild, Eternal Nightmare... but she was still quite new in regards to officially being accepted by them. Odin's family had found her in the street and saw potential in her. They offered her a life better than petty crimes like stealing purses off the street. Her childhood had been hell, but Eternal Nightmare had been her savior. While she had not interacted much directly with their guild master, she knew that he had been a strong figure and looked after his guild family. Many strived to be like him.

Nana had none of that magical talent: rather, her skills were more physical and used items to accomplish her goals. That hadn't stopped the guild from accepting her and appointing a tutor, Erebus. Under his tutelage, she had learned much and yet felt still unprepared for the world.

This instance for example. Nana had come to Hargeon several days prior to get a feel for some of the light guilds and how they interacted with citizens. The green haired girl had taken a couple of small jobs in the city and familiarized herself with the streets. Her days had been going smooth until she heard the commotion of fighting as it broke out in the square of Hargeon itself. At first, she had assumed it was the typical dispute between a light guild such as the rune knights and a rogue dark mage.

Her curiosity got the better of her and she and decided to spy on the events from a safe and hidden distance. The ensuing battle had forced Nana to move several times to avoid collateral damage. Finally, it had come to an end. Quickly during the combat, she had witnessed her guild master fighting a woman. She knew Odin was very strong and there had been no doubt in her heart that he would come out victorious, yet maybe even spent. His foe had proved quite powerful as well and Nana knew that her involvement would not sway this battle in the slightest... Rather, her interference may have even hindered her beloved guild master.

Supposedly he was immortal, so Nana hadn't worried too much at all. The ensuing battle bad been more like a movie to her and she merely waited to serve Odin in whatever capacity after the battle was over.

The ending came too quickly however, climaxing with the beheading of her guild master. A lump had caught in Nana's throat and she waited with intense anticipation. She waited for him to reattach his head and do something insane as a comeback that would turn the tables.. Yet nothing happened. The daemon girl swallowed the lump in her throat with much effort. Odin-Sama is dead... she thought to herself with realization.

Instantly, she wished to draw her daggers from their scabbards and wait in a nearby alleyway, to strike at this woman the moment she dropped her guard. The green haired girl gritted her teeth though. She knew how important revenge would be, but it was not for Nana alone. The guild deserved to know the details of this day- that was more important than immediate revenge. With the guild master missing, it would be easy for any enemy to spin this situation into an advantage over the members of Eternal Nightmare. With much effort, Nana turned away from the woman in the distance: her eyes had taken in as much detail as possible, everything from her appearance, equipment and magic. Surely someone in the guild could identify her. "Goodbye Odin-Sama" she would say under hear breathe as she would disappear between the dark alleyways that remained after the destruction.
