“I’m Kaga,” One of the warriors stood forward. She was the eldest and had a bow on her back. The others had an assortment of different weapons from daggers to axes. All of them dressed in similar robes with different colored trimming. A few wore heavy armor as opposed to the rest. Kaga grabbed the wind mage’s hand for a greeting, that was returned to her with a head nod. “Kazimir,” the wind mage replied. “We have to get going.”

The group pulled their weapons-free and crouched in a line. As a unit, they signaled one another and moved through the streets. One went up ahead to scout and then waved for the rest to join one at a time. Kazimir turned invisible and snuck forward. Kaga and the others shook their heads and squinted. “I’ll send you a message to move forward. Kazmir walked ahead and into the street. He watched the fallen move from one house to the next on high alert. One stood on top of a building.

Kazimir stepped into a pile of dust and an idea struck him. He conjured the wind and swirled it into the pile of dirt until it caught Kaga’s eyes. He blew it towards the rooftop with the fallen grunt. Kaga approached and launched an arrow that ripped through its head and the being vanished. The team crept deeper down the street and toward the exit.

“How did you all get caught,” Kaz asked. He kept peeking around corners and to them he was a disembodied voice. Kaga stiffened, startled by the sudden invisible question. “We were assaulted one by one, by the arbiter and the fallen warriors.” She said with a little distrust about the arbiters at this point. Kazimir explained that the arbiter that attacked them was an imposter. The other arbiters are already dead. A gasp washed over the group with more confused looks now.

“So how do we stop the imposter?” Kaga asked, getting right down to business.

A smile came upon the mage’s face, “Well first we get back to the arena with the celestial spirits and from there we’;; make a plan of attack. My first task is to get you all to safety though.”

A small amount of distrust ran through the group. Their footsteps slowed down. “But…you are alone,” one of the others said.

“I’ll do the best I can. But for now, our only option is to move forward,” Kaz said. Kaga patted the distrusting man on the shoulder, reassuring him. They exchanged a nod of approval and followed behind Kazimit until they were near the front gate. Kaz sent a gust of wind in front of Kaga. She stopped in place and the others froze.

A group of Fallen Ones patrolled by the gate. Kaga readied an arrow and another warrior pulled out daggers and snuck around the far side, behind a building. Kazimir created two blades of wind and swiped the throats of the fallen.

They gripped their necks, holding the wispy blood together. Kaga’s arrow took out one and the dagger-wielding warrior plunged his blades into the other. Kazimir waited as the team escaped through the gate. The wind mage followed in the rear and kept a keen eye on the gate to see if they were followed.

They marched back up the mountain path, once again toward the arena. Everything was silent now. Looking back, the city was filled with more Fallen Ones. No one was in sight from the normal population as if they had all vanished. It made the mage wonder what happened, but he couldn’t get distracted right now.

Kaz bumped into one of the warriors, “huh, What’s up?” He asked. The warriors scurried to the side of the road. Kaga pointed up the path at a battalion of Fallen Ones that stood in the way. They blocked the land path, and while Kaz could just fly around them, he wouldn’t be able to take the rest of the team. “Damn it,” he mumbled and turned to the side of the road.

“We can’t break through. It would be a hard battle and we may end up flanked by the enemy,” Kaz spoke more to himself than the others. Kaga crouched and walked her way over to the wind mage. Her bow was still ready in her hand. Her eyes asked the question before she could even open her mouth.

“We can sneak down through the forest and get to the village of the wind clan. Follow me,” Kaz stood into a crouch and moved through the trees. The group snuck along with him. Each step was carefully placed so they didn’t alarm anyone. The walk was long and filled with brambles and bushes to push through. The sun was almost at its next cycle when Kaz pushed back a bundle of drooping branches to reveal a dirt path. Small markings were drawn onto the rocks. He remembered running this path when he was a child.

“This is good. If you are the last arbiter, then our purpose it to come here anyway. To rebuild the wind clan,” Kaga said. Kaz looked over his shoulder with warmth in his heart, at the thought of the wind clan becoming what it should be.

“Thank you,” he said, more emotional than he had felt since the journey began, Aside from the burning anger against the Angel.

The path opened up wide and the village was only a few miles ahead. With a deep breath, Kaz walked onward. The sky lit up behind them. A bright golden hot beam flashed across the sky and burst into the ground in the middle of the group. The warriors plummeted off the road. A small crater smoldered. Steam made vision blurry. A faint image in the sky hovered toward them. As it drew closer, its angelic wings were revealed. Kaz’s lips twitch at the sides. “Take cover and run!” He yelled as the warriors took off toward the village. The angel rained down beams of hot golden light that tore at the ground and burned through trees like a laser.

It soared from side to side, attacking from out of no where. The warriors were tossed and flun. Burning light cut through their armor. Kazimir stepped into the darkness and became invisible. “A game os stealth huh,” he said and took to the skies.Kaga helped up her comrade and ran into the trees.

A moment of darkness fell over them, that was interrupted by the magnificeintly bright beam of arcane energy from the angel. “Found you,” Kaz muttered and dashed toward the angel. They moved at comparable speeds. The angel flashed around in the air, attacking from different angles. But it didn’t see the wind mage. Kazimir flew up high and dashed the opposite direction, circling around to close of the angel. The assassin flew close to Kaz. The wind mage launched a rapid series of wind strikes that snipped the angel’s winds almost clean off. An explosion of light radiated from the angel and burned the wind mage. Kaz recovered in the air and dashed forward to grasp the face of the angel and ram the being into the ground with an explosion of wind. The angel blasted Kaz in the gut with a beam. The mage's eye glowed and the beam sputtered out of existence. The angel’s eyes widened as the wind erupted once more, leaving nothing but remains behind. Kaz became visible once more and staggered toward a tree, breathing heavily. The warriors ran to his side.
