Taking a step back and examining the situation for the best. Getting a fresh pair of eyes would also take a little bit too much in the way of time. So she stuck to the map she already had, the information that she had acquired. It was obvious to her that this werewolf had more resources than she anticipated or more members. She’d have to enter the mines from another angle, another locale. Which meant more footwork. It was either that or try to figure out how to clear that tunnel.

Which wasn’t something she could realistically do on her own. So she’d have to bear with it and figure out something. That something being another entrance to that area. Which no doubt would be a trap. She’d bite the inside of her cheek as she arrived at what amounted to the other entrance.

The area had become safer and safer as she did this grisly work so maybe it wasn’t so much of a problem. Either that or she was just slapping a band aide on the real issue. Either way she had to go into the darkness that loomed ahead of her. Drawing her sword once the light stopped kissing her back the woman slowly worked her way through the mines. Unaware of the presence that was following her.

The first crossroads that she arrived at was dead like all the others, abandoned… was this where the others had been from? An allocation of resources? She’d stoop to check the lanterns and glance around. They hadn’t been lit for quite some time…

So she moved on, unsure of what was going to meet her here in the dark. But that answer would come as she arrived at an actual lit intersection not ten minutes down the line. A single sign sitting in warning for her. Bloody letters scrawled on it simply stating LEAVE. Grimacing she’d start to move past it when she could distinctly feel eyes on her. Turning her head she’d see it for the first time.

There was no mistaking the presence of an alpha and one that was sure of itself beyond it’s normal ken. This monster was taking the front rather than letting his packmates dwindle before springing. They stood in abject silence, her sword raised ever so slightly...

Their speed was unprecedented. Something she hadn’t even considered, this alpha’s overwhelming difference was something that she didn’t even realize could occur. But his strikes while plentiful lacked a certain backing to them. He wasn’t physically powerful, he was fast and that was it. Maybe he was built like that for a reason but it made even landing a single blow against him troublesome.

Time and time again he danced out of the way of her blade, time and time again she found herself stumbling and his claws biting into her armor. Shredding bit by bit until the rusty armor fell from her frame. Leaving her defenseless; the last one hadn’t even managed that as a single entity. But this one was honed for battle. A close second to the one that sent her flying all that time ago.

So she dug in and pushed; and when Lucretia pushed she pushed hard. Eventually one of her strikes had to slip through the cracks of the other’s speed based defense and that’s when her blade reaped the bounty he had been avoiding. Finding the alpha’s leg which would yield a surprising amount of blood and a howl of pain. But for her one strike she received several more from them. But now he couldn’t dodge as effectively.

Slamming the hilt of the blade into it’s head she’d stun the bastard and followed with a downwards slash that took the alpha from shoulder to hip. She watched it darkly slide to the ground. A look of pained surprise around it’s features as it bled out in a matter of moments.

Her victory was short lived, for what this alpha had in mind wasn’t survival but to open up a path for it’s lessers. She’d look around and find a set of eyes staring back at her from each hall. A grand total of six lesser wolves; lucretia took a wide stance, stomping her legs and letting out a roar of challenge as the magical seal worked it’s magic over her body. Gifting her with armor over her arms. It wasn’t anything to brag about but she’d be damned if she wouldn’t go down swinging.

They were relentless as she was unforgiving, time and time they broke the armor on her arms. Time and time they kicked her, clawed, her bit her, leaving her worse for wear. Disarmed her, launched her. It didn’t matter, she’d get back up. Cracking skulls, slicing through flesh with a blade that sang as it did what it was meant to do. Over and over again she was brought to what felt like her limits. But she pushed past it.

A burning in her chest told her that this fight was taking a lot out of her. Had she finally reached where she would peak? No. She let out a roar of challenge and was like a dervish with her blade. Cutting two of the lycans down in a fit of rage; bringing the others to a pause as she pushed against them. Practically roaring with passion for her work.

The next lycan to come at her received a slam to the side of the head, sending it careening past her while she buried her blade deep into it’s partner. Even though these beasts were wearing her down it was obvious to every single one of them that she wasn’t going to let them have it easy.

Like a flash the next lycan fell, it’s head tumbling to the side in surprise. The eyes of the remaining three widened and they hesitated. But she didn’t, instead she pushed on. Drawing herself back for a moment, a magical seal springing to existence at the edge of her fist; she’d punch forward. A shard of deadly ice slamming home into the chest of one of the lycans, causing it to stumble. Weakening it and worrying the two standing near it; they’d dash forward, expecting her defenses to be wide open...

But instead what they were met with was a fury that they couldn’t even control. Burning passion in her eyes as she sank her sword to the hilt in one and slammed her head against the other’s. Making it stumble, snarling in agitation as she felt the sting of their claws against her flesh. She wasn’t giving up and that was paying out time and time again. But she was starting to wear herself out with how much she was getting into it.

Her armor on her arms flickered and she felt the true cusp of their fangs on her shoulder. She’d grimace in pain, yanking the sword out of it’s fellow but with it under her guard all she could resort to was jamming her thumb into one of its eyes. Causing it to roar in pain, roar enough to where she could kick it off of her and she could put that sword down it’s gullet.

The last werewolf wasn’t even a challenge. Wheezing on the ground from where her spike had hit it she didn’t even let it speak as she sank the blade into its throat and watched the life drain away from its eyes. She’d have to use her sword to lean on and grimaced in pain as she could feel all the claw and bite marks across her body throb.

It was grueling work but she felt like she made an honest headway today. Having to collect her dues from these lycans wasn’t easy with how burned out she had been from this fight. She had ample enough time to take all the fangs she needed to prove their deaths.

But something felt off about this group; they were clearly well organized. Was the other ones part of something else? Or perhaps they had strict orders from the shepherd personally. She didn’t know but compared to the last group they were far better trained. Maybe it was time for Lucretia to figure out an upgrade of her own...
