The Oath of Life



Difficulty: Epic

Participants: Kon

Story: Following the racial discrimination and false accusations of theft and murder, a bond was formed between two young wood elves, Folre Qinren and Vaeri Trisvalur whilst traveling together within Minstrel. Fearing for their lives the couple fled from Minstrel hoping to avoid prosecution for falsing being labeled criminals by humans in the area. With bounties being swiftly established on the two, the couple traveled by land crossing the dusty plains of Desierto continuing to travel further and further into the -unknown only to stop at Sin. Reaching the foreign country, the couple struggled to make it their home with the unusual customs, language, and religion of Sin being a complete contrast with their own. Despite this, they made this place a home learning the language and adopting the religion in appearance only.

A child was born many decades after the couple made Sin their home. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting new family, the child was born with a life-threatening heart defect. Unable to return to their homeland to heal their sick child and isolated from Sinese society, the couple struggled to survive with the ailing child. It was only through the generosity of monks that their child survived but at a steep cost, their child's mortal soul. The monks were in reality worshippers of a Sin quasi-immortal wyvern, Qinglong, who was ending their life cycle to begin anew. A key requisite was the soul of a child born under a blue moon, unfortunately, this was the very case with the family.

And so ever since that fateful day, they had not seen or heard from their daughter. In the fifteen years since then and now, they had struggled to recover their daughter from the grasp of the cultists. Diplomats, Mercenaries, offers of gold, and tributes all in vain. However, some hope grew with the news of one man's arrival in the strange land.

Objective: -
  • Seeking to restore her own identity within the world, Hirota Miki under the guise of Kon, whose own psyche is beginning to dominate over theirs, travelling across thousands of miles to explore the various countries of the continent and return to her homeland.
  • Hearing of a Sinese couple in need the still-possessed General travels across the continent to a country that he had only seen as a distant land having only spent a few weeks there during the days of the Inquisition.
  • Cautious of strangers since the last friendly encounter resulted in a near-death experience, Kon meets a mysterious magician on the roads with cautious optimism trading gifts with them having a familiar yet different appearance resembling someone he had met only a few weeks previously.
  • Kon will travel to Sin hoping to learn more information about his ongoing goal, during his search he will encounter the Wood Elven Family. Hearing about their background and troubles Kon will work for them to recover their daughter now a teenager from the cultists.
  • Failing to retrieve the teenager through diplomacy, Kon decimates the religious fanatics before being captured.
  • After reconciling with Hirota Miki, Kon escapes his imprisonment and reconvenes with the parents for one final attempt to recover their daughter.
  • Using the strange medallion he received from the mysterious Wen Wei, Kon restrains Miharu long enough to take her from the temple and the protection of her followers.
  • Seperating the souls of the daughter and Qinglong, Kon fights the wyvern in its most savage of states.
  • With their soul reducing to nothingness and without a body to call their own Kon makes one of the hardest decisions he has ever made and binds her to himself causing their soul to mix and blend with the troubled teenage soul.
  • Wanting to right his wrongs and allow the child to live a life beyond simply as an echo in another's body, Kon begins researching the lost arts of flesh craft.
  • Through his limited understanding of mechanics Kon fails to create a suitable alternative before Miharu's soul binds to his own, just as Hirota Miki's had.
  • Returning to Sin, unable to relate to their parents, Miharu declines to rejoin them bitterly for their decision and instead remains with Kon in spite of him being the instrument that influenced all the outcomes of the past few weeks.

Arc I: Strategy & Beginnings

Name: Travelling to a New Land

Participants:

Konstantin: A jaded individual, Konstantin now formally recognized as General Konstantin Sokolov amongst the ranks of the Rune Knights, is set to make a mark upon the world and restore his and the organization's reputation through the devastated continent. A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends for his terrible acts.

Summary: Still holding Kon tightly within her control Hirota Miki seeks adventure after being bound to her curse for centuries, as a result, she has possessed his body to take an unplanned, lengthy journey away from the Fiorian Capital to explore the continent and return to her homeland. This is not without its risks as the number of highwaymen are on the rise while magic has began to spread even to the lowest of individuals.

Objectives:
  • Talk with various Rune Knights within the Era region before heading out to the various parts of the surrounding countries.
  • Crossing the countryside of Fiore before the borders of Bosco, "Kon" encounters a small group of bandits who attempt to extort his entourage for safe harbour in their "territory".
  • Slaughtering the bandits and their leader, Kon is racked with a morale dilemma for which he can not atone for as his body remains under Hirota's direct control.

Name: Understanding a Strange Tongue.

A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends of them.

Summary: After spending many weeks within the neighbouring countries of Fiore, "Kon's" plans were pushed ahead of schedule after hearing rumours in the wind requiring his presence in the obscure and distant land of Sin, a place he had only been to a handful of times specifically during the Demonic incursions. It was a country whose language he could hardly comprehend much less speak fluently, however as Hirota Miki proved to be fully fluent in the language albeit with a dated dialect it should serve no issues.

Objectives:
  • Begin travelling from Bosco to Sin crossing between the borders of Joya and Desierto.
  • Begin to talk with Hirota Miki to reconcile their differences and begin regaining control of their body.
  • Due to ongoing political tensions within the countries of Bellum and Pergrande Kingdom, Hire a boat within Desierto and travel to Sin across the ocean.
  • Meet with Diplomats by the Sinese coast.

Name: Dealing with Bureaucracts

A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends for the actions he had done in his younger years.

Summary: Unsure about the reason for his summons, but still welcoming his presence, the diplomats he meets with greet Kon with open arms and allow him into the country with Qin Ying, an emissary used to guide foreign around the country. Exploring the unusual country, Kon learns about the extensive history and culture that the land holds taking a great interest in their God Emperor. Finding themselves separated from Qin Yong through the bustling crowds, Kon is confronted by a Sinese man peddling an assortment of wares some more genuine than others. Anxious about the sudden bombardment of questionable goods being thrust upon him and the growing crowd around them, he accepts whatever is handed to him accidentally becoming a part of something much larger, something that had been planned for decades in advance.

Unable to return the undoubtedly cursed box, Kon will retain the item placing it within a pocket dimension that housed so many of his other dangerous objects. After meeting up with Qin Ying once more, Kon retires from the festivities that surround him which were celebrating the rebirth of a being whose name had escaped him but had held significant weight to the people in the area. Perhaps a sign for things to come but who could say for now?

Others:
Wen Wei: A shady trader who gives travellers and tourists misleading knowledge and mysterious cursed artifacts to his amusement when they inevitably try to use the artifact at a later date.

Objectives:
  • Search around the various markets within the Sinese capital
  • Get separated from Qin Ying before being assailed by Wen Wei, a mysterious figure who will appear through the course of the journey in the foreign lands.
  • Forcifully receive a strange amulet inside a box with a clear glass front bound in place with glyph-etched chains and perfumed ribbons.
  • Meet up with Qin Ying who will continue the tour throughout the area and ongoing festival

Arc II: Diplomacy in Action

Name: A Pact between Parents

Konstantin: A jaded individual, Konstantin now formally recognized as General Konstantin Sokolov amongst the ranks of the Rune Knights, is set to make a mark upon the world and restore his and the organization's reputation through the devastated continent. A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends for them.

Summary: Looking to explore the lands and learn just why he was redirected from the religious ceremony days prior, Kon tricks the sinese diplomats and escapes through a secret tunnel of the embassy before heading off into the region that held the festival lacking the lackeys of the Sinese Empire. Exploring the quieter streets, the wood-elven couple, Folre and Vaeri will reveal themselves before requesting aid in recovering their daughter from the hands of religious zealots who want to use her as a host for the "god" they worship. Sympathizing with the thoughts of the elves and recognizing what was happening to the child, Hirota Miki forces Kon's hand into helping them ignoring any political consequences that might otherwise arise from getting involved.

Others:

Folre Qinren: Folre was a powerful wood elf mages who served during a conflict between the elves and the humans that was heralded as a master of water capable of performing astonishing feats with a drop of water, following a ceasefire Folre renounced his abilities having spilled too much blood through the otherwise peaceful magic.

Vaeri Trisvalur: Vaeri served in the same conflict as Folre, however, was a more proficient hunter who cut down her foes through dagger and bow. Much like Folre, they swore to never hurt another after they entered a blind fury during a peace treaty killing both human and elf.

Objectives:
  • Leave the embassy through a secret tunnel used by Sinese workers that operate throughout the building.
  • Explore the area
  • Encounter the Wood-elven couple who are seeking the aid to recover their child
  • Agree to retrieve the child.

Name: A Failed Incursion

Konstantin: A jaded individual, Konstantin now formally recognized as General Konstantin Sokolov amongst the ranks of the Rune Knights, is set to make a mark upon the world and restore his and the organization's reputation through the devastated continent. A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends for them.

Summary: After agreeing to retrieve the kidnapped daughter, Kon excuses his entourage once again, to complete the task by himself in the hopes of minimizing the amount of attention drawn to him. Entering the temple said to have the couple's daughter, Kon now embodying the appearance of Hirota Miki attempts to speak with the various monks of the temple being met with a stone-faced response as a result of a heavy male-dominated trend with authority in the holy site. Diplomacy all but failing, Kon/Hirota enter the temple in disguise, posing as worshippers of the faith to reach the daughter, having mixed success both reaching them, but being discovered, they fight as one before being captured and losing all strength through a Magical Artifact hung within the temple. Unable to resist the Monks, Kon is thrown into the darkest dungeon from which he shouldn't be able to return from.

Enemies:

Army of Monks: Countlesr with appearances mirroring one another with height and frame being the only distinguishing differences between them, this army of monks proves a challenge to any prospective combatant that seeks to attack their temple

Objectives:
  • Plan to recover the daughter.
  • Find and enter the temple
  • Attempt to use negotiation whilst within the Temple.
  • Resort to using force to retrieve the daughter after diplomacy fails
  • Successfully reach them but get captured through magical means.
  • Get arrested by the guards of nobles who follow the religion practised at the temple

Name: Breaking out of Innocence

A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amendforof them.

Summary: Bound and gagged after being magically suppressed using powerful charms layered within the temples, Kon is taken to a noble's prison who publicly supports the religion and Qinglong directly. Owing to his extended longevity and position of authority, they attempt to negotiate with him as a means to force him to leave. Lacking any leverage with their sense of duty being steadfast in recovering the child, Kon resists all efforts leaving them without any recourse besides throwing away the key and hoping he never escapes. An effort that would prove fruitless with the elven couple coming to Kon's own aid, rescuing him and killing Onaga Masa in the process. Fighting their way out, the trio reviews their objective with Kon planning to take on the Monks once more with the charms and traps no longer being an obstacle to stop him after receiving various blessings to diminish their effects.

Enemies:

Onaga Masa: A loyalist that serves the religion and by extension Qinglong, they are a powerful swordsman notoriously deadly wielding shortened katanas in both hands, while possessing powerful sword-based magic hurling copies at their opponents without mercy.

Others:

Folre Qinren: Folre was a powerful wood elf mages who served during a conflict between the elves and the humans that was heralded as a master of water capable of performing astonishing feats with a drop of water, following a ceasefire Folre renounced his abilities having spilled too much blood through the otherwise peaceful magic.

Objectives:
  • Be taken to the noble's home
  • Be interrogated by the Monks and Nobles
  • Kill Onaga Masa
  • Escape from the Noble's dungeon with the help of Folre and Vaeri

  • Aware of the cult's strengths, Kon enters the temple with the full intent of carving a way to his goal through any means needed being prepared to kill any monk who wished to stop him.
  • Finally confronting Miharu for the first time, he is greatly outmatched with Qinglong being able to use their own vast strength and his desire not to harm Miharu to their advantage.
  • Using the medallion given to him by Wen Wei after recalling its existence, Kon separated the spirit from the child.

Name: Surrendering your will

Summary: Separating the souls of the daughter and Qinglong, Kon fights the wyvern in its most savage of states. While this is occurring Miharu's strength is slowly diminishing as the medallion slowly leeches away her life forcing him to sacrifice his own adding another challenge to the conflict before him.

Others:

Miharu: Holding no sense of self, Miharu blindly follows the will of Qinglong who has slowly began to push her psyche into the background, her only true independent talents lie with the bow and arrow being able to regularly practice between ceremonies and healing rituals.

Objectives:
  • Split the souls of Miharu and Qinglong
  • Fight and defeat Qinglong while the medallion dividing the two constantly drains Kon's own fortitude.

  • After defeating and casting away Qinglong, Miharu remains lifeless as the medallion continues to consume her.
  • Knowing the suspicious nature of the item and the curse-like properties it contained, Kon was left with only one option absorbing the effect of the medallion into his body and in turn incorporating Miharu into his own soul.
  • Compressing and shoving the medallion into his chest, Kon greets Miharu for the first time unaffected by Qinglong in an astral plane with her body turning into dust before him.

Arc IV: Starting anew

Name: Forever from now on

Konstantin: A jaded individual, Konstantin now formally recognized as General Konstantin Sokolov amongst the ranks of the Rune Knights, is set to make a mark upon the world and restore his and the organization's reputation through the devastated continent. A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends of them.

Summary: Wanting to right his wrongs and allow the child to live a life beyond simply as an echo in another's body, Kon travels to the wreckage of Talaz Lagaar and begins researching the lost arts of flesh craft, learning about Miharu and her life within the temple. Miharu meanwhile begins to develop her personality outside of the control of Qinglong within Kon's mind and adapt the lingering effects of the spiritual being to their needs.

Others:

Miharu: Holding no sense of self, Miharu blindly follows the will of Qinglong who has slowly began to push her psyche into the background, her only true independent talents lie with the bow and arrow being able to regularly practice between ceremonies and healing rituals.

Objectives:
  • Return to Talaz Lagaar and pull from the wreckage suitable parts to make a perfect copy of Miharu's original body.
  • Return to Era with materials on hand.
  • Manipulate and contort artificial flesh into a replica of Miharu for her to use.

Name: A Moment alone is a Moment together

Konstantin: A jaded individual, Konstantin now formally recognized as General Konstantin Sokolov amongst the ranks of the Rune Knights, is set to make a mark upon the world and restore his and the organization's reputation through the devastated continent. A man with a complex past, he does not attempt to conceal this history but instead attempts to make amends of them.

Summary: After countless hours adjusting the various elements of Miharu's future body from head to toe with their guidance, Kon installs the same medallion that started this whole incident. With the charm contained within the artefact being tweaked, Kon attempts to supply it with a portion of his own strength before transferring Miharu's consciousness into the artificial body. Only leads to failure as the bond between Miharu and Kon has begun to take hold while the body is destroyed as a result of Kon's repeated attempts, burning out from the sheer power supplied to it. Unable to separate her from his own body, the duo make do by having her appear as an ethereal entity outside of his own.

Others:

Miharu: Holding no sense of self, Miharu blindly follows the will of Qinglong who has slowly began to push her psyche into the background, her only true independent talents lie with the bow and arrow being able to regularly practice between ceremonies and healing rituals.

Objectives:
  • Kon prepares the artificial body
  • Miharu is unable to leave Kon's own body
  • Harmony between Kon, Hirota and Miharu begins between the trio

Summary: Returning to Sin, Kon reveals the unfortunate truth of Miharu who would be forever bound into Kon's own immortal form, living as another soul to share his body, unaging but capable of representing her own goals and dreams when he or Hirota wasn't in control.

Folre Qinren: Folre was a powerful wood elf mages who served during a conflict between the elves and the humans that was heralded as a master of water capable of performing astonishing feats with a drop of water, following a ceasefire Folre renounced his abilities having spilled too much blood through the otherwise peaceful magic.

Vaeri Trisvalur: Vaeri served in the same conflict as Folre, however was a more proficient hunter who cut down her foes through dagger and bow. Much like Folre they swore to never hurt another after they entered a blind fury during a peace treaty killing both human and elf.

Rewards: 1x Mythic Custom

Objectives:
  • Return to Sin from Fiore
  • Confide in Folre and Vaeri
  • Fight off the enraged couple until Miharu appears before them in an ethereal form.
