Noel was planning on being in Marigold for one more day. Adventure had called upon him once more, as expected as that may have been - this time, he'd drop in with the theater people and see how things were going. The last time he helped them, he'd have aided them in setting up a proper stage and other things that were going to make their performance more palatable towards a more broader audience. From the looks of it, they had great success adapting to this new method - as well as methods others have provided them with. Noel in his general attire showed up at dawn at the theater. He knew that it was likely that they were setting up the play for tonight. Entering through the front doors he'd wave towards some of the people he'd see working on the set. Noel was approached by one of the aides, there seemed to be trouble afoot - the kind they could use Noels help with. He was ushered back stage after being given a cup of coffee by one of the assistants. Noel sat down with a couple of the writers and the director of the play. The director had been replaced by someone else since he was here last.

The director, whose name was Enrique, explained to Noel how they were in need of his assistance. His explanation boiled down to a VIP visiting their shows in a few days. They needed something fresh, something new - something with pizzazz and glamour. Their new play wasn't as polished, it'd need improving. Noel was game. "I shall help the writers first." He'd exclaim, the director happily nodded. He promised Noel appropriate rewards if the job was done well. The theater had become really wealthy recently, money became less of an issue than reputation. Noel joined the writers in their own room to collaborate what they already had created.

The story board was quite simple, princess is kidnapped by villain, hero fights the villain and saves the princess. Noel explained how that was too common, perhaps they should make one of the friends of the hero the actual villain, who is later revealed to be the villain by a dramatic event. As the writers were brainstorming, trying to think of dramatic events that this story could use, one of the stage hands crept into the room to call up the writers, the director had an announcement. The scheduled VIP was confirmed to be there, so they could comfortably say who it was. He drew everyone together and stood on a chair to make his announcement. It was quite dramatic. "This guest is a friendly critter to the Royals; they're actually the dog of the kings granddaughter best friends cousin." It didn't seem that very important to Noel, after all the VIP stood for very important person ... The main actor for the play at hearing the announcement fainted. Half of those assembled were ecstatic out of their minds, the other half were anxious and maybe even in despair.

Noel wasn't phased, this 'esteemed guest' was a dog. It slightly amused him how the rest seemed to cave under pressure, up until he realized he was supposed to help them. He'd get close to the director and whisper something something about encouraging words to lift the mood. The director seemed to agree with the idea, and stood up on the chair again - this time he'd inspire his workers to work even harder and perform the best they could, for all of their lives depended on it. Though the show did have to halt a bit, as the main actor just collapsed. No amount of buckets with water was waking him up. It was a growing concern in the theater.

Noel suggested he take the main actors job for the play, he knew what the story was about anyway. It wasn't the first time he had to put up an acting face, why not actually win an Oscar for once? A few rehearsals were all the experience Noel needed to gather to perform at a high level, he studied his character very well and made improvements on the scripts based upon it. While not drawing too much attention to himself, he'd kept the structure of the play balanced.

During opening night, when the new play was meant to officially go live, Noel awaited eagerly back stage along with his other co-actors as the director stood on the podium, announcing the synopsis of the play. Noel heard a rumor being passed around about the dog already being seated in the audience. There was a special reserved section just for him. His owner wasn't even there, a handler had unleashed it and sat it down on of the comfier chairs in the upper tribunal.

The rumor was that the dog was blind, and not only that - it was deaf too. Hearing it out loud silenced the actors, and then they all begun bursting out in laughter. All of this extra pressure was for nothing. Not like this dog was going to give the King a personal repertoire of his experiences in this show.

Opening act was about to start, propping Noel to ready himself to his stage in his costume. His best friend? It was a cat. The one to betray them all, that way - the VIP dog could think he was right in doubting the character of the cat after the plot had revealed itself. But, seeing as it was blind, and hearing about how it was deaf, it wouldn't matter what the actual play was about.

Noel stood heroically on the stage, with the cat who was going to betray him later on as they slayed a beast together. The audience was filled with people from the upper echelons of society, most presumably they were attending due to the prestige of the dog - or so Noel thought. The music, the scene transitioning, the deeply written characters and the well acted out characters delivered a perfect ensemble of different methods applied in the theater industry. The initial act was well received by the audience, they remained very quiet and focused on the show. The transition the second act was performed excellently, the writing connected the two pieces by using a method called Chekhov's gun; this trope was used by introducing a piece of evidence in the first act - that eventually led to the opening of the second act.

Classical music began to play, as Noel and another act in a cat costume traveled the 'harsh' deserts, the stage was perfectly set up for this type of transition. The ensemble at the stage did a marvelous job in the second act. The audience was keenly watching, and they seemed to be entertained by the plot from the quick glimpses Noel could catch during his performance. A pause followed the ending of act two - allowing Noel to catch a break and ready himself for the final two parts. He went backstage and had a bottle of water, he'd reread some of the script as the other actors were pretty much doing the same. The stagehands were running all over the place to ready the scene for part three. The members of the audience were returned to the lobby during the break, they were served high class consumption. Once the break was about to finish, a light turned on in the break room for the actors - letting them know to get into position momentarily.

During the opening sequence of part three, it was revealed that the cat companion the main character (Noel) was following was actually a bad guy - it came to no avail to Noels character to have noticed it before, but a certain foreshadowing led the investigation to conclude that it was the cat who has aided enemies against the main character. The audience wasn't that shocked, as the foreshadowing wasn't a very big secret. One could have figured it out if they payed enough attention, and this audience certainly did. After the cats betrayal came to be concluded, the play moved onto part four. The grand finale. In this final arc of the story, the main character defeats the big villain - cat. Of course, if it were a realistic fight, the actor standing in the cat costume faired no chance. So instead they'd settle the fight by playing a certain game - the intricacies of which are irrelevant. The main character managed to beat the cat in this game, which concluded the new theater play. The audience clapped at the end, the actors and stagehands went to the podium to thank them by bowing their heads all at once and then moving off of the stage.

The director of the theater was quite impressed by the play, though before Noel could talk to him he was already seen among the departing crowd to measure how they enjoyed the show. That was fair, Noel moved onto the mini fridge in the acting break room. Show was over anyway, while on his fourth drink the director joined Noel and a few other managers and actors in the break room to discuss the success of the show. It was received very well by the audience, though one tip came in - the main actor should be a dog. Excellent advice, thought Noel - surely since this was an one-time thing for him, he wouldn't get bothered by this notion.

One of the casting members who fell sick entered the room as well, the began reviewing the stuff together while Noel continued working on the mini fridge. It came to be revealed that the king doesn't even have children - so this dog they royally treated was most likely a random mut from the streets. Some of the people working at the theater awkwardly chuckled, while others had a full belly laugh - some were even crying. The director shrugged his shoulders, almost implicating that he knew that this was a random dog, maybe he created some fake hype? Noel chuckled, collected the money he was owed for this job and moved on with his life. This was most likely the peak of his acting career. He'd climb on Mustangs back, and depart back into town. This time, he was headed for the city hall. He'd deliver them an earful on the lack of subsidies the theater was getting - and that the theater thriving meant that Marigold was thriving. Some of the people there agreed, and said that they would think about giving the theater subsidies one more time in the next meeting.

Noel felt like he had completed this job, and truely went beyond the call of duty to deliver. An expertly performed show, the writing and he even gave some assistance with the finances, marketing & the set. While normally he was paid for his prowess in combat, this time the complete opposite was true - every skill gathered up until this point were honed to perfection, in order to deliver at this caliber. Perhaps after today, Noels stature would once again improve towards a 'better' side. Even though he didn't show it very well, he did want to better the place, but even Noel realized this could only be achieved one step at a time...
