Third Game: Blood Rave

Finally, nothing strange was happening. No random beasts chasing the group. No plants trying to devour them. The Hawks were sleeping soundly for once. Unfortunately, their peaceful slumber would not last long. This time they would not get teleported anywhere else. The game was going to take place at their own base. Suddenly, out of nowhere, music started to blast loudly to wake everyone up. Sometimes they would hear songs softly singing to them during their stay here, however, this was different. It was much louder. The music made them incapable to communicate with each other. The Hawks quickly rushed out of their tents and were nearly blinded as well. A stroboscope effect was aimed at the camp which filtered between white and red lights. It made everything appear to move in slow-motion. Why was this happening now? Giant bats descended from the woods and started to attack the base. The game was simple. Survive till sunrise. It wouldn't be much longer.

Roll: Strength, Speed, and Constitution.

Details: All three rolls have to be done at the same time. The first number represents Strength, the second number represents Speed, and the third number represents Constitution. Everyone is supposed to roll three times in the end. It is not necessary to wait for others to post. You may do your three posts and rolls in a row.

Timer: 24 Hours.

Notification.

Everyone with a Weapon versus Monsters can add that number to their Strength roll. Everyone with an Evasive versus Monsters can add that number to their Speed roll. Food counts for all rolls should they apply.

The devil was always lurking they said, always in the shadows and waiting for his moment to attack at the worst possible moment. And the worst possible moment had made itself known. Gah? What in the hell is this music at this hour? Something is amiss and I don't like it. Lucian threw back the edges of his tent-dwelling, the twilight air was still cold as the night but the music grew even louder than before. It almost sounds like someone plugged up a full-on speaker and placed it right in my ears...

Little one...All these people, I can't hear them or call out to them. They seem just as confused as I am, why is this happening?! Lucian raised his hand to protect himself as the strobe light show began, the pulsing lights alternating in a rhythmic pattern that seemed to slow everything down to a crawl. What kind of freak show is this...Lucian tried to piece everything together, between the sounds and the lights his senses were in overload. But at least he still had his nose. Sniffing the air, he caught a whiff of the first, fur and all. Some sort of creature and they were way up high.

Breaking through the trees, Lucian could see the mighty beating of many black wings. More dark creatures had emerged from the shadows of the forest, they rose like an unholy legion of doom. A horde of the damned. Even with his reduced senses, he knew what was next. They would be under attack, and this was another game from the man in the mask. Whoever he was he had decided that this was now the time to strike. He wanted to kill them all, maybe he had grown tired of playing with his food.

I don't care, I am not going to die. Not here and to some frivolous game. I refuse. Taking off in the direction of Rinni, he knew that he couldn't speak to her, but at least if he got close then maybe they could work to protect each other.

Sliding in front of Rinni, Lucian watched with angered anguish as the legion of black descended upon them, He swung at them in what felt like a fruitless attempt at defending himself. I feel so slow and stuck in a state of lethargy. Like I'm in some sort of ooze and I can't escape. Gah...If I could just move a bit quicker I could make short work of these monsters and lay them to rest. The creatures descended quickly, their attacks coordinated in a sense as they came in waves. Different ones diving at different moments to attack with precision to keep them on their toes.

Lucian ducked and dove, seemingly either moving too quick or too late. Damn it, get it together Lucian. Maybe the best plan isn't to attack them but to dodge them. Even though there is a lot of them, they are still mindless creatures and they attack with instinct and not poise tactics. Maybe I could just avoid their claws and survive. But...Lucian looked over at Rinni, survival was going to be difficult with the two of them. This was going to be their first time truly in combat with one another. He was going to have to trust that she was capable and nimble enough to dodge the attacks herself.

Prayerfully, if she can do a little bit of the groundwork for herself then we can end up working together to make sure we both make it out of this dark game alive. Because so help me, when I make it out of this, I deserve some answers from that Masked freak and I don't want to hear any excuses.

Lucian threw himself backward as another creature divebombed towards him. Standing back to his feet, he could barely make out the others in their own struggles for survival. If only we coordinate our moves, then we could work together to fight this threat off together.

What the hell was going on now? Loud music blasting from somewhere had woken Rinni from her sleep in the middle of the night. She rushed out of her tent to see what was going on and saw red and blue lights flashing rhythmically to the music. What the hell was this? Some sort of rave? The music was so loud, she couldn't hear herself thing.

She sniffed the air and smelled the bats before she saw them. Fuck. Was she going to have to survive a horde of bats on her own? Just as she was about to panic, she smelled a familiar scent and saw a familiar face as Lucian ran toward her, sliding in front to protect her!

She mouthed his name, no actual words coming out as the music drowned out her voice. As Lucian fought and dodged the divebombing bats, Rinni placed her back against that of the older werewolf. If they moved in sync and stayed back to back, maybe the two werewolves could survive this nightmare!

Fighting them seemed almost ineffectual! It looked like dodging might be the only option. Rinni tried to stay close to Lucian as the two guildmates weaved and dodged desperately to escape the onslaught of the bats. She couldn't die here. No way! Not to a bunch of stupid bats! And she wouldn't let Lucian die here either! They had to stay together!

Still, even as she stayed with Lucian, she couldn't help but search for Ko, her eyes scanning the area full of struggling survivors, hungry bats, and flashing lights. She sniffed the air trying to catch Ko's scent. Where the hell was her boyfriend?

This was getting ridiculous. The bats seemed to never stop! But despite how scared she was, she had to keep going. She couldn't give up now! She had to survive this! She couldn't let Lucian down! She was somehow dodging faster than him, and he was putting his life on the line for her. Losing this dumb game now would be stupid!

They had to live so they could take down that creepy masked asshole together! They just had to survive this, somehow. After everything else ... she wasn't about to die to a bunch of flying rodents!

The sudden blaring music that filled the base shocked Ko for a moment, prompting him to cover his ears in a vain attempt to block it out. Naturally it did nothing, and the pounding rhythm just vibrated in his chest. He immediately moved into an open area, trying to discern what was happening, when the stroboscope effect set in. It felt like he was witnessing something out of a Horror play. Around him he could see other survivors scrambling about, and in the chaos he thought he'd spotted Rinni.

He tried to shout, but the music deafened his voice, even to himself. Since he couldn't make himself heard, Ko started to run towards her, only to be brought up short as an enormous bat slammed into his face. In a wild panic, he flailed around, trying to tear the bat off of him.

In a show of brute strength, Ko tore the bat free from his face, snarling with rage as he twisted its thin wing bones in opposite directions, throwing the crippled monster to the ground and stomping on it. His face was definitely bloodied, but the wounds were superficial. He wasn't going to let these damn bats take him down without a fight.

With his vision cleared he spotted Rinni again through the chaos, standing nearby another man with dreadlocks who was helping to fend off the bats attacking them. Ko began to approach, hoping that grouping up would help fend the bats off more efficiently.

Despite his attempt to close the distance, Ko's ability to move was hampered by the swarming bats. They were coming from every angle, slamming into him and scratching at him with claws. The pitiful clothing he was wearing was hardly any defense, and it was starting to seem like Ko might fall from a thousand cuts rather than any single wound.

Finally, Ko had to just grit his teeth and hold his ground. He wasn't going to make it anywhere with all of these bats assaulting him, and for every one he killed 3 more took its place. He was going to have to weather the storm, or else he'd end up bat food.

Unlike the others, Noel stayed out in the wilderness during the night. The monsters had begun accepting his presence in the grass fields since a day, so they didn't mind him sleeping there. That was until the events of tonight. Loud music came crashing down from the heavens, waking Noel up and making him realize that it was time for another psychopathic culling. The male kept calm, seeing bats from hell being spawned upon the island left and right. He knew he wasn't going to beat these creatures with his raw power, so he'd resort to more tactical strategies.

Hiding in the tall grass, Noel begun crawling to a higher spot - one where he'd be able to more easily spot bats. Eventually he'd have crawled up to a hill, avoiding bats that were coming in left and right. Most of their focus remained on the other people on the island that were in and around the bases. Noel stood up to get a better overview, not knowing his figure silhouetted against the skyline. It gave about ten bats in the surrounding vicinity a clean target to go for. Raising his dukes, Noel began duking it out with the bats that had lunged towards him.

After some minutes of rough housing with various creatures of the underworld, Noel was clad with their blood. The kerfuffle did injure him more than he initially anticipated, tiring him out much faster than he normally would have. The last bat that fled up to him, he'd knock out in one punch - concentrating most of his remaining energy. Next, he'd hide under the bat in an attempt to hide from the rest. He'd try and peek under the bat to see if the mysterious masked man showed up again. Maybe it was time to man-up, charge out and fight him head to head if he was given the opportunity.

Rest was a scarce luxury on the cursed island. Mary had barely managed to drift into sleep when a horrid, pounding racket shook her awake. Some may have called it music, but she had to respectfully disagree. As she rushed outside, another sensory assault stopped her dead on her tracks. The flashing lights created an illusion of slow-motion, a curious effect. Her eyes widened when she spotted the monsters rushing the camp. Vivid memories flooded her mind, images and descriptions she had studied. It matched all too well. Giant bats walking on two legs and hunting for living flesh...

“I know what you are...”

The ghastly woman’s grim mutter was completely drowned beneath the noise. However, her eyes once again lit up with a spark of that peculiar madness. Almost like a predatory glow. Or maybe it was just a trick of the light...? She reached into her backpack and pulled out an item she had found on the very first day. Back then, she had hoped it wouldn’t be needed... But now she wasn’t so sure. In fact, she was glad to have this chance to help these poor, unfortunate souls... To liberate them from their horrible curse. A sharp blade shined in the flashing lights, as she brandished an Iron Hatchet. Without hesitation, she rushed at the closest monster.
