Toga
Tōga's eyes glimmered with anticipation as Saturn expounded on methods to uncover his innate musical gifts and how they could signify his destiny as a dragon slayer. Despite the demi-god's imposing physique - a towering, humanoid bull endowed with herculean might - he possessed a gentle soul. Yet, if fate's threads interwove within him the makings of a dragon slayer alongside his demi-god lineage, it would set his life on an extraordinary course filled with excitement and wonder beyond his wildest dreams. Tōga hung on Saturn's every word, enthralled by the possibilities, as the sage explained ancient dragon slaying awakenings triggered by unlocking one's inborn magical abilities through music.

"You make an excellent point - being at headquarters provides a prime opportunity we shouldn't let slip away," Tōga agreed, an animated smile crossing his face. "Let's explore the grounds, seeking out elemental substances for you to sample firsthand." He gave Saturn another hearty pat on the back, enthralled by the luxurious softness of the knight’s fur. Tōga could barely contain his eagerness to facilitate this impromptu tasting tour, leading Saturn hither and yon in hopeful pursuit of discoveries that would unveil his friend's nascent abilities. Every rock, plant and natural feature suddenly brimmed with potential in Tōga's eyes, no longer mundane details but instead a landscape ripe with revelation.

"With each taste, you should sense right away if there's somethin’ there or not," Tōga enthused, his mind ablaze envisioning eccentric pairings of elements and their wondrous states of matter for Saturn to sample. Images of minerals, metals, gases, plasmas and unidentified cosmic materials kaleidoscoped through Tōga's imagination as he contemplated the boundless possibilities. "Your instinctive likes and dislikes could provide clues pointing to your element," he continued with growing excitement. Tōga watched Saturn closely for reactions as they roamed the terrain, ready to take note of any substance that sparked that flicker of revelation in the sage's eyes. This impromptu experiment thrilled Tōga as they cast speculative nets across land, sea and air in search of the first tastes to unlock Saturn's dormant preternatural palate.

Saturn
Saturn couldn’t help but hum a little bit, excited by the prospect of trying out different elements and eventually finding the one that he was able to consume or interact with the best. Toga also seemed to be excited to a degree far greater than his and it practically bounced between the two of them he felt.

Maybe in the deeper training areas or the like might have something…

He wasn’t sure, where would you look for samples like that. Feeling the pat on his wide back the demi-god grinned a little bit before standing up. What was the first best place to go and check? Maybe he should try to see what sort of natural enviroment or maybe he should go find the essence of something with his friend here? The explanation of taste wasn’t lost on him and the towering demi-god rubbed at his chin.

Maybe the armory… Where do you think we should go then Tōga?

More explanations; more understanding. The instinctive likes and dislikes that he had was a clue? More rubbing at his chin and the furrow of brows. He was close with nature, close to the ground and sky. Close to natural elements. He could feel the touch of music in mostly everything, but trying to pull the essence from the earth or sky was difficult. He could feel the mana there but it wasn’t like… something he could grasp. He’d frown a bit, the earth was dirt but not the type of dirt he was… looking for? He’d inhale through his nostrils, trying to take at the ‘wind’ but it was just breathing with extra steps.

...I don’t think it’s wind or earth. And definitely not the tree. I can feel their essence but uh… I can’t really.. ‘Eat’ that. I like music, food and knowledge. I also don't like pain, being locked up or death.

He wasn't sure how helpful those things would be; something freeing wasn't going to be difficult to find given that... Well earth was restrictive, nature might be freeing but it was too grounded? And Wind was too free and didn't have a care and it didn't seem to really think much right?

Tōga laughed lightheartedly at Saturn's understandable dislikes of confinement and death. "I'm with you there," he agreed, as the two bonded over their shared distastes. Tōga could appreciate Saturn's self-reflections, no matter how apparent, as the young man tried to unravel the mysteries of his origins and magical powers. Even the most obvious realizations represented steps forward on Saturn's journey toward self-discovery, toward embracing his full potential and destiny. Though some insights may seem trivial on the surface, each piece fitted together to form a richer picture of this emerging mage's identity.

Tōga stroked his chin thoughtfully as they narrowed down the mysterious source of Saturn's magics. They had already excluded the brute elements of fire, unrelenting earth, and tempestuous winds - significant progress in focusing their search, yet still adrift on an ocean of potential talent. Tōga mused over expedient methods to pare the remaining fields, seeking avenues to eliminate entire branches at once. Though they had only eliminated a few droplets of water from a vast sea, efficient divination could drain far greater volumes. Each revelation further channeled Saturn's surging talents, bringing sharper clarity to the wellsprings within. Step by methodical step, Tōga vowed to help this promising pupil filter the tangled strands of raw magic into mastery over an essence uniquely his own.

"The armory it is!" Tōga declared brightly, grasping Saturn's oversized furry paw to steer the hulking demigod toward revelations. Hopeful they could eliminate additional elements, Tōga led Saturn from their sun-warmed perch, through alternating shadows and rays perforating the Rune Knight headquarters. Their footfalls echoed companionably down stone corridors while Tōga outlined his cunning plan, describing tests to methodically divide the mystical wheat from the mundane chaff. At an imposing steel door, the gnome mage halted, meeting Saturn's expectant emerald gaze with a sage grin. Before entering the vast weaponry, Tōga urged the demigod to still his mind - focus would be key to channel his inner force without distraction.

Before we get there, look around – look outside the box, and test anything you think could be a different element. The lights, the darkness, the dirt --- anything, hahha.”

Saturn
I’d think that many might not like either of those though…

He was blunt and honest about things that he liked or disliked; it wasn’t hard for him to really even put them out there. Though with how young he was some of them made more sense, imagine if he spent most of his days locked up? Or being near death? He’d hate them or fear them even more. Though maybe hate was a strong word for him. He doubted that he could hate anything actually. He wasn’t entirely aware of how much toga was trying to figure out about him either; though he wouldn’t have minded if he did.

There was an ample amount of energies that he could tap into; it would be difficult to narrow it down a bit wouldn’t it? Even if they only figured out three or four here there was still many more. He’d adjust slightly; trying to mull over the various elements he knew about. There was… six others? Seven? It was hard to really remember offhand given that he wasn’t the most informed as of yet.

When toga grasped his hand and started to steer him towards the armory the demi-god looked a touch surprised. He wasn’t expecting the strength behind it but maybe because toga was already surprising when it came to their magic that their physical state would also be just as much of a surprise. With their arrival at the rather imposing steel door saturn couldn’t help but stare at it. The suggestion of him to center or still his mind was met with a small nod. Looking about and furrowing his brow further…

You don’t always think about the little things around you either… hmm…

Saturn’s brows furrowed further; standing there for a moment before putting his hand on the door. Giving it a slight push. He had a semblance of an idea of what he might be capable of; or what he could do. It was hard to tell at this moment still. Harder yet to know if he was even a dragonslayer mage. He could just after all be spit balling but it would also explain a few things if he was. He was still young and naive while being a dragon slayer of some kind sounded cool…

I wonder…

Despite his immense stature and divine nature, Saturn possessed a peculiar sense of humanity. Though bearing the semblance of a furry white bull garbed in human clothing, he conducted himself with unimpeachable modesty and courtesy, gentle as a butterfly. His great love of music suffused his every deed, even fueling his quest to unravel the mysteries behind his magic. Tōga saw in Saturn's guileless conviction and innocence a pure light which he felt compelled to nurture and protect from diminishing.

As Saturn extended his massive hand to unlatch the steel door, compelled by magical curiosity, Tōga watched on in idle fascination. Though he had set this mystical probe in motion, from here Tōga could only look on as an observer and counselor while Saturn took the lead. The revelations and discoveries to come hinged wholly on Saturn now as they crossed the threshold into the armory, venturing into the unknown. Tōga had sparked this wizardly quest but its fruition relied entirely on Saturn’s actions within the heavy doors which swung open at his touch.

"Just start chewing on things. If it’s your element, eating it will come as easy as eating bread or drinking water, no matter what it is," Tōga counseled, leading the way into the shadowy depths of the armory. With a swift flick of his fingers, torches burst aflame and other light sources flared into existence, banishing the shadows and illuminating a vast chamber filled edge to edge with glittering steel. A sanctuary of armaments and armors and sundry contraptions of war and battle used by the Rune Knights met Saturn's eyes in the new light. Tōga had expeditiously opened the armory's mysteries to investigation just as swiftly as he had lit the space. Now it was up to Saturn to discern if any of these militant tools aligned with his magical talents, hopefully finding the effort as natural as tearing into a baguette.

Saturn
Saturn’s gaze swept the somewhat dark armory; it hadn’t seen use today by the looks of it and if it had they hadn’t bothered to light any of the torches in here. He’d wonder if he’d have to go around and light each of the torches individually before they could get started. However a quick acting toga seemed to solve that issue in a snap. The torches burst to life and saturn would have to take a moment to adjust to the new lighting. The suggestion of chewing on things was met with a somewhat childish chuckle.

Chewing on things huh? I suppose I could try that but…

Saturn would step forward, looking around. Some things spoke to him, some things didn’t. There were a few swords here that stood out, like they had been made in the last few years but hadn’t seen any combat, armor that had been made for people of all sorts of statures. A weapon that made something deep inside twist in pain, his eyebrows furrowed and he’d step forward hand grasping around a leather bound hilt. The runes on the blade seemed to hum with a barely contained power and there was a taste of ice in the air. It was something that reminded him of… A home he never had. There was a solem look on his face and he’d inhale a little bit. The blade itself was seemingly plated with gold but the edges were like that of crimson… and the guard was nothing more than spikes facing away from the hilt. A strange blade nonetheless. He’d ease down and sniff it, there was pure power here and something that felt ancient. He’d slowly shake his head. He could tell this wasn’t it.

It’s not frost. It chills to the bone but not in the good way. It’s song is sad, like it met a mother too late before she was swept away.

He’d set the sword down and look around, he could feel the tingle in the air like a blade of lightning called his name. Adjusting a bit he’d walk away from the now inert sword with runes on it. It was a wonderful blade, but it was meant for someone else. Just like the element it carried. The next item was a small amulet that seemed to be steeped in lightning. Just holding it told him a lot. It was bristling with power that ran up his arm and made his fur stand on end. Like he had spent the last hour running his feet on a rug. He’d hold it up, dangling it in front of his nose; he could practically smell the ozone off of this thing… It was designed after a lightning bolt that had cut through the sky. Almost looking like a tree. He’d inhale a bit; finding that burning taste in his mouth didn’t fit and his nose would crinkle a bit…

...Too dangerous. Too… Wild. I don’t think it’s lightning either.

Tōga reclined against the armory's inner wall, keen brown eyes tracking Saturn's every move as the anthropomorphic bull deliberated over instruments of combat. The Rune Knight stockpile boasted a fabled plethora of unique and varied weaponry - tools and arms modeled after diverse elements, ancient peoples, even deities themselves. Their forms drank deep of various wellsprings of myth, magic, and legend. Saturn could take all the time needed to slowly sample and taste every device here, seeking some kernel of resonance with his own still mysterious capacities. If Saturn did indeed harbor dormant Slayer talents, they waited here amidst the racks and shelves of occult artifacts for Saturn's patient palate to awaken them. Tōga scrutinized his ward intently to glean the first flicker of the affinity they both sought to illuminate hidden within Saturn.

Saturn's attention fell upon a runic blade emanating icy frost. Its chilling touch seemed to disagree with all around it, Saturn included, as evidenced by the displeased twist of his mouth after tasting its edge. Tōga grimaced a little as Saturn eliminated another elemental option from contention. This pattern repeated soon after with a lightning-wreathed armament - despite its electric might, it too failed to properly align with Saturn's energies. The divine bull continued his deliberate sampling as Tōga looked on, both seeking the first faint stirrings to indicate they had located Saturn’s magical affinity. Weapon after weapon however yielded no reaction, the cache of occult arms failing to find purchase with Saturn’s developing talents.

"Onward - we have excluded ice, lightning, flame and ordinary steel already," Tōga encouraged, tallying the elements dismissed thus far. "I believe we also removed earth from consideration earlier too. The options narrow!" Confidence rang in his every word, a hopeful smile dawning across his face. Step-by-step they had whittled down the possibilities, slowly but unerringly homing in on the elusive affinity. Tōga could practically taste the impending breakthrough. Their perseverant process of magical elimination would soon reveal Saturn's dormant talents - it was only a matter of time before the perfect conduit manifested itself from among the remaining relics, resonating utterly with Saturn's core.

Saturn
His movements were halting, hands reaching and grasping for items that sat just too far out of reach. A spear that was glimmering with some false hope perhaps? It felt too lopsided, too strange. It didn’t fit right in his hands, it trembled even as the magical difference in their powers were too great. The haft felt all wrong, the longer he held it the more he wanted to throw it away. But he was gentle and maybe that’s why the spear didn’t like him. Its energy was plain compared to his; like a everything bagel that wasn’t even toasted.

Arcane wasn’t the answer. What was? They were running out of elements right? There was a gun that seemed to be heavily laden with water energy, that too felt off in his hands. Nearly making him fumble with the way that it slipped out of it everytime that he tried to lift it up. His brows furrowed and he’d set it down; not frustration but there was a gentle moment of uncertainty from him. When toga spoke the demi-god’s ears perked and swiveled slightly.

Is it possible that I was wr-...

Something near him seemed to grab his attention. A symbol of some kind that had no chain but was something that you’d expect a hunter to have. A skull at its center laden on a heavy iron cross. The demi-god reached down slowly and picked up the item. It felt right in his hands, even more so as he could feel like he had seen it before. A hand came up to his hand as a flurry of memories not his own ran through it. A confusing effect that had the demi-gods hand tighten slightly around the object. All for but a moment did that item exist before it flitted away, but not into the darkness that it had been sitting in.

The item had rolled up one of saturn’s arms and faintly sat under the fur, a dark patch with that bone colored swath peeking out of a sea of gold. Saturn’s brows furrowed further and he’d watch that coloration fade away as it moved under his large patch of fur somewhere on his neck.

...Darkness…?

There was a layer of confusion that was evident and saturns hands came up to his head as it throbbed. He had seen the symbol somewhere before. Though… maybe using the instance of he was incorrect. What was weird is that being as young as he was the memories didn’t make sense. Like they were from years ago rather than just a week or two.

...Maybe that explains why I’m so bright hmm…

His voice seemed hush and the demi-god couldn’t help but feel a tad queasy when it came to thinking this over. He’d slowly turn towards toga, ears somewhat folding to either side while his tail drooped. He was hoping for something more… cheerful?

Toga
As Tōga and Saturn stood immersed in the magical armory, surrounded by enchanted objects and weapons, the dragon slayer keenly observed the demi-god's curious interactions with the instruments around him. Tōga couldn't help but smile as Saturn continued his search to discover his magical affinity among the mystical artifacts.

Tōga's eyes and ears perked with interest as Saturn stumbled upon an object radiating dark power, one the demi-god seemed intimately connected to. "Hmm, darkness could be your affinity!" Tōga offered with a widening smile, though Saturn appeared somewhat displeased by this realization. Nevertheless, as Saturn contemplated his potential bond with the shadows, Tōga could not have felt happier for the demi-god's progress in discovering his magical inclinations.

Don’t let the element discourage you", Tōga suggests. “There’s beauty in everything. I wield fire – it’s destructive, uncontrollable, and unpredictable,” the dragon slayer offers. “But it’s beautiful, and as easily as it can destroy, it can help create ---- there’s no light without darkness, remember that

Maybe getting darkness was telling him something deeper about himself or that the memories within that he couldn’t even remotely consider were tied to the artifact he seemed to find. His brows furrowed deeply and flicked his ears a few times; certainly bothered by the fact that it’s polar opposite wasn’t what he was going to be.

It’s… strange to consider Toga.

He’d scratch the side of his head; looking a little out of sorts but with the other dragon slayer encouraging him he felt a little better. Maybe darkness was drawn to him because of how bright of a person he was? That could mean that his flavor of darkness was a bit different. It would be hard to tell until he started practicing. He’d turn to toga; his smile was somewhat restored but there was a twinge of sadness somewhere still.

Well I appreciate you helping me Toga. I think I need to read up on darkness dragon slayers of past and what sort of abilities they used to better understand what I could be capable of. Or things that I want to avoid. If theres records of them at all.

Going to the library wasn’t exactly the most exciting thing for most people; but if toga wanted to come along they could. If not? A question quickly popped into his head though and he felt inclined to ask…

Do you have any idea of who the prior fire dragon slayer was?

#36Toga

Limbo [Toga] - Page 2 Empty Fri Jan 05, 2024 7:23 am

Toga
Nope,” Tōga smiled as he patted Saturn on the back, again noting how soft the massive demi-god’s fur was. “There’s no manual to this dragon slayer thing,” the man continued, encouraging Saturn in a somewhat confusing way he began to exit the armory, his mission complete. “I don’t know much about the dragon slayers myself, despite being one. We are a rare breed, and only one of our kind exists at a time, but the best teacher in life is experience so I suggest simply keep doing what you’re doing – enjoy life and explore, you’ll get answers soon enough.”

It was great meeting you, Saturn-kun! I hope you find the answers you need!

It was amazing to finally meet another Dragon Slayer, and one that also held divinity so close to their core. Saturn had infinite potential bottled up within his massive frame, he just had to be willing enough to unquirk it and see what happened. On that day, the Fire Dragon Slayer hoped he’d be around to see what happened next; it would be a sight to truly see.

- exit

Saturn
It was strange to him that there wouldn’t be some kind of manual or records of prior dragonslayers; or that maybe toga wasn’t aware of them? There might of been some kind of mix there he felt but it warranted searching. Maybe it was different for each dragon slayer type? Toga further explained that the best teacher would also be life experience; which he had to agree and admit that he was somewhat… lacking in the department of experience.

That makes sense thank you toga. It was great meeting you too, I hope we’ll meet again.

His smile didn’t waiver at all, in fact you could say it grew in size at the fact he felt he made a good friend. Giving a curt wave he’d head towards the library; he agreed he needed experience but his natural curiosity regarding the topic would pull him in that direction hopefully. If the library didn’t have anything in regards to it he’d just have to figure it out himself entirely. Which he felt was also fine.
