PERSONALITY

Personality:

Caught between two diametrically opposite worlds, the half elven Prince Klaus always felt out of place no matter where he went. Curious open minded, he always had a fascination for things he'd never seen before, and the openness to accept what his senses and instincts told him.

Even before fully appreciating the lifespan granted by his elven blood, he showed patience and ponderance, weighing his actions before committing to them, in stark contrast to the rashness displayed by his peers. At such tender age, these differences made him stand out from his peers, marking him as an outcast. At such a young age, he couldn't help but lash out at this, growing into a mischievous prankster as if that would get him attention.

However, the difference and loneliness that once pained him soon became an integral part of himself as a young adult, for he came to accept his loneliness and seek solace in the wilderness. And as he grew into a handsome, cultured and eloquent young prince, others flocked to him of their own voilition.

Often feeling out of place in the big cities such as the very capital ruled by his family, Klaus's curious, inquisitive spirit often lead him into aimless travels, as if they might one day help him find where he belonged. But as he grew older, he came to realize he, just as every citizen of Bosco, belonged everywhere in this land. Spending time with the Elven tribes his mother grew up in, he came to better the understand the other half of himself.

Though he'd always admire the enginuity, the audacity and creativity of his human half, he scorned the carelessness that most human civilizations have built themselves upon, with no regard for their environment. Instead, he looked up the elves as paragons of civilization, who evolved with the nature around them instead of away from it, to welcome it into their homes instead of keeping it out with walls, fire and fortresses.

That sense of disconnect that lead to people draining their natural resources until they struggled to feed themselves and their children, which in turn lead them to wage war on their neighbors to support themselves and their unsustained growth. The constant warfare over the course of generations produced the need for walled cities, fortresses, where people holed themselves in order to survive.

He believes that Boscosi civilization - as most humans in other countries - have strayed too far from its roots, becoming out of touch with the environment despite knowing fully well what an iextricable part of themselves it is.

To this end, he appreciates the towns and villages in the countryside as a closer example of the society he envisions, a society divided into tribes that occupy each tract of land equally, yet connected by their mindfulness of the land they live in. A society where you take no more than you need from the environment. Not a return to a bygone past, but an acceptance of one's roots as a race, as countless tribes attuned to their land. Not a destruction of cities and homes across the land, but to accept the land itself as one's home.

Some call him idealistic and utopian but one truth never escapes him. The elves can do it... The Boscosi of old did it once. So what reason is there for modern Bosco not to?

Despite his strong political views, at first glance Klaus appears anything but, carrying himself with a cool, carefree posture, jovial around even the most serious of his siblings. Though he shies away from overwhelming crowds, the naturally gregarious half elf welcomes companionship on his hikes and leisurly strolls, finding few things as enjoyable as a long chat under a blossoming tree on a breezy spring afternoon.

Likes:

  • Nature: As the very essence of a man who loves nature, few things delight him as much as a long walk in the wilderness.
  • Interesting people: Despite often being seen as a hermit of sorts, Klaus loves life in all its shapes and forms, and few things delight him as much as a captivating conversation with someone as open minded as he is.
  • Medicinal herbs: More specifically, the kind that makes you laugh. One of the best ways to spend a pleasant day.
  • Tribal societies: Like the elves who make their homes in the forest

Dislikes:

  • Pollution: For all his positivity and open mindedness, Klaus has a pet loathing for people who mindlessly populte their surroundings, and is the type who'd chide a child for littering if he saw it.
  • Crowded cities: The very opposite of what he stands for, Klaus believes the more crowded and overpopulated a city, the more drastically it will deplete all the natural resources in the vicinity, draining the land dry for generations to come. He dislikes crowds in general for the very same reason.
  • Closed spaces: With such a wide, welcoming world all around them, the mere thought of cooping oneself up in tight, cramped spaces appalls him to no end. Above all else, Klaus likes fresh air and freedom to move around wherever the winds take him.

Motivations:

  • For the land: Above all else, Klaus adores this beautiful, breathtaking land named Bosco, and believes its people have should protect it. This mantle of responsibility means their way of life should change, but this newfound harmony will make a happier, more fulfilled country in the long run.

Fears:

  • Aggressive development: When people develop without the mindfulness of their surroundings, chopping down forests and turning hills into quarries, they destroy the environment that's so precious to all.
  • Civil war: Though he aims to claim the crown and guide his nation to a better future, his greatest fear is not losing the race for the throne, but the consequences of it ending without a clear victor.

HISTORY

History:

>> Curious, adventurous youth

>> Outcast due to his elven heritage and differences from his peers

>> Adventurous young adulthood, connection with the elven tribes

>> Comes to advocate that Bosco should live more like the elves, in harmony with the environment
