Ann

Personal

Name: Ann Jekyll

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Class: Sorcerer

Rank: D-rank

Guild: Grimoire Heart

Tattoo: Lower Abdomen | Black

Face: Kaori Miyazono - Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso

Appearance

Height: 5'6" | 167.5 cm

Weight: 115 lbs | 52 kg

Hair: Blonde

Eyes: Blue

Overall: Ann's overall appearance: her slender physique, long blonde hair, and striking blue eyes tends to draw the attention of on-lookers. The teenager indeed has all the features that most consider the standards of beauty, though she does little to flaunt and accentuate her looks beyond what nature has provided her.

While the girl tends to keep herself well groomed and manicured, she has never upheld the meticulous: "every hair in its proper place" mentality. As such, her long, blonde waves often fall with a mind of their own, and her clothing style is relaxed and free form-- she's not afraid of getting wrinkles or keeping her hem straight, and in general, it adds to her appeal, showing her carefree nature.

Despite Ann's adventurous and outgoing personality, she is highly in tune with her feminine side, particularly when it comes to dressing herself. A fan of flowing fabric: light weight skirts and dresses, she enjoys feeling girly-- but is sure to keep it practical, and comfortable. Not a huge fan of shoes, she has a tendency to go barefoot, even when dressing herself up for the occasion. If bare feet isn't an option, she's apt to go for comfort over style: such as sneakers over heels.

Ann has the firm belief that no outfit is complete without a smile, and indeed, even her resting visage is one that looks pleasant and content: her lips naturally curving upward. This feature often makes her approachable by others, and typically makes her appear nonthreatening to those around her.

Her large blue orbs are expressive, and the young woman has mastered the ability to communicate without words, and those well-versed in her quirks and mannerisms can use her body language and glances to their advantage to communicate non-verbally if a situation arises.

A musician by nature, Ann can almost always be seen with her fiddle nearby, often strapped to her shoulder. While she is versed in other musical instruments, her fiddle is her favorite, and she is quite talented with it. While the case is nearly always strapped to her back: if she has free use of both of her hands, she probably is fiddling some tune that matches her mood.

Extra: A fairly clumbsy girl, it is not uncommon for Ann to be covered in bumps, cuts, and bruises. Her light skin shows discoloration easy, and if one gets close enough to her, they are likely to see the after marks of her clumsy nature, which often draws the concerns of others.

Personality

Personality: Like most people, Ann has a multi-faceted personality. She embraces each situation differently, depending on a variety of variables, and as such, she is, like most other humans, a complex being, that requires being studied in multiple environments in order to be fully mostly understood and predicted.

Unlike most people, Ann is particularly complex because she is the catalyst of two distinct personalities that transcend just mood or emotion. While there are some characteristics that remain stagnant between the two personalities, such as resourcefulness, and bravery, the two personas that take hold of the young woman need to be separated when attempting to understand how she as a person functions. For the scientific purpose of understanding Ann as a person, these personalities have been described exactly as they have been observed-- completely separate and autonomous of each other:

Personality #1: "Good" Ann

Endearingly described as "Good" Ann, this personality type is the one that maintains most of Ann's functions and daily interactions. This side of Ann is characterized, as one would probably guess, by positivitiy, eagerness, and whimsy. The description below gives insight as to how "Good" Ann interacts in a plethora of situations, and how the general populous would describe her. It is important to understand that, as she has been observed as of now, "Good" Ann has no recollection or knowledge of her other persona's behavior, and actions. Instead, she is prone to occasional "blackouts," "sleep-walking" and "waking up in mysterious places" which, for whatever reason, she considers completely normal.

For the sake of clarity, "Good" Ann in this section will be referred to exclusively as "Ann" beyond this point.

Bubbly. For whatever reason, it feels as though wherever Ann goes, a ray of sunshine follows. Bright and vivacious, Ann takes pleasure in finding and pursuing things that make her happy. She has the innate ability to find the silver lining in storm clouds, and will often find a way to laugh or joke about a situation, even in dire circumstances. She is the type of person that if and when she would ever hit rock bottom, she'd smile and respond "well, at least it can only get better."

Graceful. Make no mistakes. Ann is very clumsy. The term graceful describes her in a way other than just physical movements and aptitude. Instead Ann is graceful in how she holds and presents herself. She is gentle and deliberate in her actions and touch. She walks with her head held high, and rarely speaks poorly of herself or others. When an act of clumsiness befalls her, she is quick to make the most of the situation: creating snow-angels when slipping into an snow-patch, or grabbing a tipping vase she bumped into to shine it... Indeed, she is so good with her reactions to such situations, that many people fail to understand that it wasn't intentional in the first place.

Straight-Forward. Ann certainly has the capability to be detail-oriented and become hyper-critical into people's personas and nature, but is very rare that she ever utilizes such a trait. Instead, she prefers to take people, their words and their actions at face value, and she hopes that people do the same for her. If Ann says she is going to do something, she will do it, to the best of her ability every time. She is unapologetic in pursuing things, and being transparent about her goals and aspirations. If someone goes back on their word to Ann, she is more likely to be critical and skeptical in the future. Her trust, once broken is hard to regain, because she herself is so trust worthy. She doesn't like to associate with people who are deceitful and lying is a good way to ruin any sort of relationship she has-- friend, colleague, or romantic partner.

Well-Intentioned. "It's easier to catch a fly with honey than it is with vinegar." Cliche? Yes, it may just in fact be very cliche to use a proverb to describe Ann, but it is a philosophy that she lives by. Ann feels that it is important to treat the people around her, even those that she doesn't know well, with kindness and respect. A philanthropist in nature, she finds it important to try to better the lives of people, particularly those less fortunate than her. She would be the one to give up her hotel room to a homeless man, share her dinner with a dog on the street, or donate all her earnings to charity. Sometimes such charitable actions can backfire on her, but the intentions are always pure.

Non-Combative. A fairly peaceful person, Ann typically doesn't like combat. She prefers to settle things through compromise or apologies. She feels that majority of the time, nothing good can come from physical abuse. As such, she tends to try to either deescalate situations, or walk away from them when conflict is imminent. Typically people wanting to start a fight aren't worth her time.

Adventurous. Ann is the type of person that seeks and excitement, danger, and intrigue. She likes adrenaline rushes, and hates being cooped up in a small area. Curious by nature, she tends to be a person that enjoys discovering new things, learning new skills, and experiencing what the world has to offer.

Spontaneous. The best plans are ones that are not overthought. Ann is not the type of person that needs detailed plains, or a schedule. Instead, she has the preference to go with the flow, and take opportunities as they come. She tends not to overthink situations, and is willing to jump head first into a task. She tends not to perseverate on the consequences of her actions, and instead deals with them as they come.

Personality #2: "Dark" Ann:

As wonderful, bubbly, and endearing as her good counterpart is, Dark Ann instead represents, the revenge-seeking, vindictive, self-preserving side of the young woman. It has not yet been scientifically documented and proven exactly what circumstances cause this side of Ann to take over, but the shift happens exclusively on sleep cycles, meaning that Dark Ann takes control over only after "Good" Ann has gone to sleep, and reverts back to her dominant, good self by returning to sleep. Unlike good Ann, Dark Ann has knowledge of her alter-ego, though memories are typically hazy and do little to impact Dark Ann's motives.

For the sake of clarity, "Dark" Ann in this section will be referred to exclusively as "Ann" beyond this point.

Spiteful. Ann isn't one to get angry over little things. She has always been one to let things slide off her shoulders, as they came at her. Just because she doesn't get angry, however doesn't mean that she forgets whatever it is. Instead, Ann tends to be vengeful. She feels as though it is justice to dish out revenge, and that it is important to do much more than to get even... If she doesn't dish out more than what others have served, they obviously aren't learning a hard enough message, and that injustice she has observed a person acting upon, there have likely been far more unforgivable deeds that she didn't have the horror to witness: thus the punishment must exceed the crime.

Blood-Thirsty. There is a part of Ann that quite enjoys the head-rush of power that comes from hurting others. She has desires, not too far beneath the surface, that push her to punish, maim, and even kill. Something about holding such power in her own hands is addicting.

Head-Strong. Ann is self-confident, and follows through on her convictions. She isn't easily swayed by words of others. She has faith in her abilities, and prefers to give it her all, rather than back down, even in a situation that is overwhelming. It takes a lot to admit that she has been defeated, and she will not give in to a situation without giving it everything that she has.

Calculative. While her spontaneity still holds through, Ann is also very calculative in serious situations. She knows that getting caught in her "vigilantism" efforts could be disastrous. As such, she is very careful to cover her tracks. Part of this, is her ability to adapt to situations, and be spontaneous. While she puts safe guards in place to guarantee she isn't caught, she trusts her gut to modify her own actions as the situation arises. She premeditates and imagines a multitude of scenarios before acting, to make sure that it is safe for her to serve her justice.

Dichotomous. There are only two truths in this world: you are good, or you are bad. Ann justifies her connotatively "evil" behavior by guaranteeing that her victims land on the evil side of this spectrum. Any acts of judge and jury, are warranted by her victim's actions. Similarly, all evil in this world breeds more, so a single person committing a bad deed, will only be continually corrupted. As such, she is doing the favor to the world by punishing said person. Obviously, her own misdeeds, are themselves evil, which is why she intentionally keeps her actions from her alter-ego secret, and why her identity must never be learned.

Bold. Unappologetic for who she is, Ann isn't afraid to speak her mind, or speak honestly, and from the heart. She will tell people like it is, without sugar coating it for them. She is straightforward, and willing to take action in order to get what she wants in this world.

Likes:

  • Fluffy Animals: If it's fluffy, it's probably cute and adorable. Who can resist cute and adorable things? Not Ann. Puppies, kittens, bunnies... You name it, if it's fluffy and it has a face, Ann (regardless of which personality is in control) will probably melt.
  • Playing Her Fiddle: Playing the violin is one of the first joys that Ann has memory of. The idea of being able to create beautiful sound, and songs: to create something that conveys emotion without words, brings Ann true happiness. She loves sharing her passion with others, and often gives street performances.

Dislikes:

  • Cooking:While Ann loves food and eating, taking the effort to cook is often a frustrating task. She doesn't particularly care for creating meals, particularly those that require a lot of work. If she is cooking for herself, it's typically something simple that requires only a few steps. She would much prefer getting food from somewhere or someone else, if its possible.
  • Being "Cooped" Up: Adventurous, curious, and spontaneous in nature, Ann hates being confined to just four walls. She would much rather be out in the world, exploring, or learning something new. Staying at home for the afternoon, sounds much less relaxing than it does punishing.

Motivations:

  • World-Class Musician Music is Ann's first love, and one of her few passions in life. She is constantly seeking to improve her craft, and share it with others. She hopes to one day share her love and passion with the world, and to be talented enough that her music inspires and helps others.

Fears:

  • Drowning: Ann has an innate fear of drowning. As a young child, she was admitted to an asylum where they used varying forms of hydrotherapy as an attempt to cure her of her eccentricities. While her medical records suggest that such methods were successful, an unsusspected side effect was that the girl became phobic of being completely submerged in water. While she can take showers (and shallow baths) fine, getting in large bodies of water (anything past wading) causes the young woman anxiousness. She tends to avoid travel by boat, and swimming whenever humanly possible.
  • Dying Alone: Despite being a fairly friendly person, for whatever reason, Ann has difficulty making genuine connections with people. One of her biggest fears is that her death will be completely unnoticed. This fear impacts how she interacts with people on a regular basis, and her desire to try to make the world a better place: that if she has done something to warrant helping others, or pursuing justice (depending on which personality type is in control) then perhaps she is making progress to having someone that cares about her death. A rather selfish fear, it is often unvoiced to others, and instead impacts how she interacts with people, and the world around her.

Magic

Magic Name: String of Fate

Magic Element: Non-Elemental

Magic Description: The user is granted the ability to generate thin strings. While the string is primarily produced on her fingertips and palms, it can be created on any part of her body. As the user's magical ability grows, the strings can become more useful, at higher ranks being razor sharp, for devastating offensive attacks or strong enough to create a body armor, defensively. At lower ability levels, the magic is weaker, more crude, and pliable.

Depending on the spell type, strength and purpose, the strings have varying thicknesses. Non-elemental in nature,  it does not hold any elemental advantages or disadvantages in combat scenarios. While primarily used as offensive and defensive spells, string of fate users can also cast supplementary spells, and self-buffing strength spells.

History

History: The first memories that Ann can recall are ones of a stark, white room. The florescent lights, and overlooking faces distorted, by the ripples of water: her lungs screaming for air as young, prepubescent limbs, struggled to break the restraints that kept her submerged. The memories always fade into darkness. She has no iota if the memories are real, or if they were just nightmares concocted by her young mind, that have never truly left her psyche.

She is certain that the faces, in their dry clarity, were real. She remembers extensively the long list of repetitive questions, and their befuddled looks as she answered them to the best of her knowledge. She has no recollection of how, or why, she got to this place-- submerged or otherwise-- she couldn't have been any younger than nine.

Each day, they would ask her the same questions, taking copious notes of her responses. They were pleased, most the time, as she remembers, particularly at the beginning, as they whispered words to each other that were too complicated for the girl to comprehend. "psychosis suspended... rehabilitation...  psychiatric reevaluation required... hydrotherapy resulting in positive correlation for behavioral correction..."

Over time, Ann remembers taking a liking to these caretakers, and their questions... They were her only contact beyond the four stark white walls she was confined in. They, even in their rigid, mechanical interactions with her, were something to satiate the boredom that befell her.

She was around eleven when they presented her with a violin. They praised her as she practiced it, reminding her frequently that it was good for her... helped keep the negative emotions away. While Ann wasn't certain she understood, she knew that the bow pressing against the fiddle strings made her happy. It took her somewhere beyond the four white walls.

As she grew older, more and more people came to visit her. They would ask her questions, and marvel at the now teenaged girl-- though Ann still didn't understand why. Soon even more people came to her, introducing themselves, calling themselves her family. She understood the word-- the names that they identified themselves as: "Mom" and "Dad" but the confusion set in... why would she have no recollection of them?

Their meetings became weekly... then daily, as they draped themselves around her, pulling her into a one-sided embrace. "So proud" they would coo, "We'll have you home soon"

The notion of being beyond the four walls, was exciting, yet terrifying. The relief that this couple could bring, was exhilarating, and addicting the more that it occurred. She wasn't discharged completely, at least not at first. Structured visits-- to stay for the day, then over night, a weekend trip... for a week. The longer she was away, the more color she experienced in the outside world... the harder it was to return to the four, stark, white walls. It took an entire year, of structure, of routine, of supervised everything, before she was officially released.

"The poster child of success" The men and women in lab coats beamed, ignoring the furrowed brow of the then 15 year old Ann, as they sent her away with the man and woman for the last time. She had no belongings, other than the fiddle that had been strapped to her back, as she left with them.

It wasn't long that she felt stifled in their home, hidden away from the world, as they attempted to protect her from the prying eyes and probing questions. She longed to see the world, realizing she had traded a single room, for a single house, constantly being coddled by two people who claimed they knew her-- cared for her-- loved her. They may have believed it, but the girl could sense their fear: their tentativeness. It left a sour taste in her mouth. They, like the others at the facility had, were hiding something from her. They were dishonest with her... and so she left.

The world was cruel, and harsh, and wonderfully exciting. She made her way from town to town, pandering for money on street corners with her open violin. Life, she had decided, was worth living. It wasn't long, before she began experiencing black outs. She would fall asleep, and wake up somewhere completely different. "It must be all the excitement..." She would convince herself. "It's probably, perfectly normal."

Before long, other changes started happening too. She soon noticed she had magical abilities, which seemed to appear over night. However strange, she accepted the gift with gratitude, and begun to seek out others with similar talents. It was during her searching that one morning, she awoke, with a strange tattoo on her abdomen. Fingers traced over the mark over and over, as she attempted to remember anything that would suggest its origin.

"Peculiar..." She had decided, after tirelessly and fruitlessly searching for answers within her own psyche. But that was her, she had decided: peculiar in every way. If she didn't accept it no one would. The answers, she insisted, would reveal themselves eventually... When she was ready.

Hello Ann, your character application is almost ready to be approved however there is one portion regarding your magic that you'll have to remove in particular the string sizes just purely because it's impractical for an enemy to deal with sizes of 0.5 to 3 mm, instead each spell will be taken on a case by case basis. Remove it and you're ready to go.
