Astrid
Her time within Hosenka was inevitably going to be coming close to an end soon. Time had elapsed for quite a bit, but she were still there. The man whom she had conducted work for earlier had pulled off his end of the bargain struck between the two.  She had carried out the dark task of settling an outstanding debt for the man, and he had lived up to his end, putting Astrid in contact with someone would be able to provide her with safe and discrete transportation to Oak Town, an area that had enough embedded politics and drama that it would have been easy for someone like her to simply disappear safely away.

That was how it was designed to play out, yet it did not seem to be the case. She wanted to be out of Hosenka as quickly as able, and yet it did not seem that any progress had been made towards it. Whomever this contact was, they hadn’t found her. There was no plan in action yet.

The longer things dragged on, the more she came to wonder and worry that she had been wasting time in no leaving on her own. Though certainly risky, there was some level of personal comfort and benefit to just taking care of things on her own.

This approach of relying on others was proving to be nothing more than a potential issue of sorts, not worth the headache that came with it.

Days were on the verge of passing, a timeframe that was far outweighing what she felt worthwhile, and as tempted as she were to cause problems, Astrid knew that doing so would be a massive risk, if not outright mistake. Her aim towards all of this, why she was wiling to tolerate waiting as long as she had had been tied towards being able to discretely leave, and any incident that she caused would inevitably lead to problems for her. Hosenka was a place that was reaping the benefits of the huge commercial prospects and tranquil tourists that were coming in as the summer season was coming to its end. The last thing that the people either wanted or were willing to tolerate was far less than that of places such as Dahlia, or even Oak where she sought to venture.

Thus, she had to play from within the confines of the more discrete terms; terms and conditions that she were no stranger towards, having spent so much time within the political sphere of Fiore. But, in those cases where the efforts and motivations were far more tied towards their own motivations and agendas, this was not quite the same translated nature. Her motivation was clear enough, getting out of Hosenka, but doing so was the challenge.

Fortunately, it seemed that although her first lead had proven to be a failed endeavor, she was able to somewhat remedy the situation. Not too long after she had found herself being forced to resign to a failed venture, she was approached by a different party who indicated that they have been able to help.

Astrid
An unknown individual, one that Astrid had neither hard of before, nor had any reason to be made aware of. The person, a tall man dressed in attire a bit uncharacteristic of the typical Hosenka person. Neither extravagant nor particularly fancy, not indicating any sort of wealth either, it did not seem to matter much given the amount of confidence that he conducted himself with. He knew what he wanted, seemed to know what Astrid wanted, and did not make any sort of spectacle of the matter. He simply approached her, indicating that he was an interested party that knew of her plight and was offering to help.

His offer was surprising, not only due to it being one that came out of the blue, but the timing of it seemed to make it sound too good to believe. A resolution appearing before her after her initial plan seemed to have failed? It felt too good to be true, as far as she were concerned.

The man explained that her request had gone through the appropriate channels. There were certainly those who were looking to have provided her assistance, whether it were motivated by the price being offered, the belief that helping her would garner influence from her father, or otherwise hoping to hold the favor over her. But the problem that had arisen were the conflicting motivations more than anything else with some individuals willing to go as far as they felt necessary to secure the contract, even if it meant killing off the competition.

Thus, a war of sorts had begun, with plenty of the prospective fellows all looking to secure the deal to transfer Astrid to Oak Town with multiple bodies already having been felled in the process.

It was also where this man had come in, not wanting to involve himself in the conflict but hoping to deal with getting Astrid out of Hosenka as quickly as possible. It may not have been in the best interest of some of the competitors, but her being gone was in the best interest for Hosenka as a whole.

Getting her out of Hosenka was not going to be easy though, especially considering the lengths that some smugglers were going to making sure that any efforts to transport her out were crushed. Though few were willing to say anything openly, but it would have required either a very powerful force to get her out of the city with no issue or otherwise have a way to deceptively move about. While neither were particularly easy options for anyone that sought to be involved, the second was one that the man was capable of achieving, provided he had a bit of help from Astrid.

It wasn’t something all that terrible in the grand scheme of things. While she was in the city, she was as much regarded as a tourist, a seldom discussed point that was as much true as it was that she were looking to leave the region. Thus, as a tourist she were able to enjoy all of the luxuries that the city had to offer. It also meant that she could play the role of a simple tourist while being tasked to launder some critical funds that would have helped ensure her departure from the city.

Bribe money for the guards. A simple approach to the issue at hand, certainly, but an effective one nonetheless.

To get the money though, she would have to act the role of a tourist, looking to withdraw a sizeable amount of funds that were stored in a public trust that belonged to an organization that the man were a part of. While he could not move the funds himself, it was designed for tourists to use and reap the benefits from, and in that capacity Astrid was able to withdraw and contribute towards.

She was expecting something difficult, some elaborate plan that was going to be required in order to accomplish everything, and yet it was nothing of the sort. All she had to do was walk into the small bank located within Hosenka and – following the man’s instruction to the letter – withdrew a sizeable amount of jewels that would be going towards the guards. With that in her possession, she left, meeting up with the man soon after at a nearby location. Swapping ownership of the jewels to the man, he provided her with a small sheet of paper, some travel details provided. The deed to a one-way transport that would be leaving for Oak Town, departing from Hosenka later that evening.

Travelling under the cover of night, it was an ideal situation, especially given the heavy lack of travel. And being under the protection of private guards was another huge benefit that was seldom realized. These guards were paid to protect the contents of whatever – or whoever – they were transporting with their lives, and while plenty wanted to secure Astrid’s business there was a stark difference between fighting guards and fighting against each other. The required effort to secure a force strong enough to handle a private guard company would have grossly outweighed the benefits, even factoring if things went well. In essence, it had ended the war that was being fought over her, and also provided her with a guaranteed means of leaving the city.

And for the man who had arranged all of it, it was not quite clear what he got out of it, at least amongst his fellow associates, but Astrid made sure that his contribution would be remembered.
