Khalfani †

Stella was a beautiful country filled with some of the most beautiful people, but Khalfani was very hesitant to stay here longer than the duration of Empyrean Divine's ball. Their history in this country was an experience of trauma, so it was understandable that they felt uncomfortable here. Yet even so, there was someone Khal had to see before the night was over- someone important. In fact, this person was probably just a tiny bit more person than themself because this person was their older sibling who went by the name of Seika. As the gods would have it, this very same individual was apart of the Rune Knights- a captain to be exact. Fate had dealt the siblings cards they could not ignore. It was almost inevitable not to play into this...game- for lack of better words. Khalfani walked through the lands of Stella, not too far away from where the ball was. Empyrean Divine was surrounded by open land full of flowers and fireflies.

Owls hooted and crickets chirped in the distance. The Desiertan hunter was making their way back from their room after changing their outfit for the rest of the night. This outfit was flashy, but a lot more comfortable and fitted than the Kimono they had worn. Not to mention the fabric and clothing much better reflected their own culture. As they walked with a silky transparent veil over their head, Khalfani couldn't help pondering on the knowledge the sun-Amun-Ra- had given them. The truth was, the demi-god didn't want to face their destiny alone. Though this information was important to their elder sibling, revealing it would probably benefit themselves more than they wanted to admit. For now though, Khal found comfort in the idea that they were doing this for the greater good. As the knight neared the doors of the Sugma Ball for the second time tonight, they could see a figure standing in front of the building.

Light and heat surrounded Seika as his imposing form stood over those of his fellow ball goers. The large and fairly intimidating black man had always had difficulty controlling not only his power, but his temper when near large crowds. These things always left him with a feeling of claustrophobia, but this time he just felt a mere annoyance at the vain patrons that surrounded him. Their fake laughter sounded like challenges to him as he held himself to a slightly higher standard than those that surrounded him. He knew why and how he had ended up in this situation, it was something that embarrassed him just slightly as he endured the sounds of laughter at his misfortune. The cause of that misfortune was currently laid prostrate on the floor with a platter of beverages and refreshments coating the front of their body. He felt a bit bad about running into the poor helper, the much younger dark skinned worker was clearly a slave of Savannahan descent, and while he himself hadn't been a slave, it wasn't uncommon to see them all over the place in Stella. It was one of the few things that had prompted him to side with Bosco in the conflict a few months ago.

Frown crossing his face as his anger and ire rose with the temperatures, he would help the poor boy up before excusing himself from the party, his mood fouled with the shitty aristocratic tendencies of those who lived in this foul land. He couldn't pinpoint what it was about this country that truly pissed him off, but he knew that the longer he was here and not intoxicated, the more he wanted to burn it all down to nothing but ashes and cinders. His aimless walking would take him out the front door of the ball room, the air around him visibly distorted from the incredibly warm temperatures that now enveloped him like a warm blanket. It wasn't too far to say that he had replaced the warm Stellan air with that of his own as he stood outside of the ballroom with a look of utter discontent on his face.

Khalfani †

With each passing step, Khalfani could feel the temperature around them rising. The hunter squinted their eyes, noticing that the person in front of the door was exactly who they were looking for. Coincidence after coincidence only to be followed by more coincidences made it hard for the young Desiertan to pretend like these weren't omens from the the gods themselves. Khalfani gracefully made their way to the front of the building, stopping only a few meters away to gaze upon the bulky black individual. The heat was emanating from him. The hunter didn't smile, they didn't make any sudden movements, they just stopped and for a moment they didn't speak. The captain was clearly upset, but the reason why he was upset was unknown to Khalfani. "Khnurn..." Khal began. Of course they didn't expect their elder brother to make sense of why a lowly page would purposely call him a different name, but in due time it would all make sense...hopefully. "I've been meaning to talk to you," Khalfani couldn't exactly explain it, but they felt what could only be deemed an ethereal connection with the towering mage before them. The Desiertan teenager slowly took a step forward. As they spoke their words resembled the icy temperatures in the north. "You seem upset, why?"

A small approaching figure caught Seika's vision as he stewed in his own anger, the surrounding patrons were giving him a rather large berth as he radiated heat and killing intent in waves and levels were there literally palpable. And such when the small figure entered within his range and visibly directed themselves towards him, he was actually fairly surprised. The young man had rather exotic looks about him and seemed to carry himself with a bit of flare and poise that was better suited for kings and rulers rather than the station he likely held considering the young man also had a Rune Knight badge on his person. The boy would address him, however the name that fell from his lips was one that he wasn't familiar with. He had never been called Khnurn ever in his life and as such he would treat the name with a bit of confusion as he looked behind himself with a steely gaze. He assumed that there was someone near his person that had such a name since the boy couldn't possibly be addressing him.

However seeing no one in his immediate vicinity, Seika would turn back forward now with a bit more confusion showing on his face as the boy stated that he wished to actually talk to him. Now that was really interesting. It was intriguing enough that his anger was slightly forgotten, however his heavy aura remained behind as he stared down at the boy before him, "What do you need from me Apprentice Bryson, I wasn't aware that Captain Augustus was here in Stella for this event."

The boys concern for his mental well being was all nice and good, but now was not the time nor the place to be discussing such things when there were so many natives around that would be offended at his rather brutish outlook at their society.

Khalfani †

Khalfani stood in silence after they spoke. The heat emanating from Knurn was strong and moment by moment the hunter was only becoming more hot. The amount of magical pressure he had alone was intimidating, but Khal expected no less from someone of royal blood. Knurn turned his head, obviously looking around to see if the teenager was referring to him by a name he had never heard. Khalfani slowly began to walk forward, attempting to ignore the heat pouring from the captain, though it was starting to become overwhelming. The captains voice was much different than Fani's own voice. While their own voice was cold and almost emotionless, their big brother's voice was almost the complete opposite. The hunter simply raised an eyebrow at their superiors question. It was almost off-putting, as if Khal was bothering him. Still, they were unbothered. Khalfani admired straightforwardness. "I wasn't aware that he was here either, Captain." They glared back. "I have come across some important information, and I think you'll want to hear what I have to say considering... it's about our family. It may be overwhelming, but its important that I tell you anyway." Khal began, not once taking their eyes off of Knurn. "Shall we take a walk while we talk, brother?"

The young boy before him seemed to struggle a bit with the constant output of heat and pressure that Seika relentlessly released. It was surprising to see the boy tough it out however and proceed to walk ever closer through such a phenomenon just to speak candidly with his superior. It seemed that Captain Augustus wasn't actually here in Stella, or rather the young Apprentice didn't actually know where his acting commander was, which meant the young boy was out on assignment alone. That wasn't something that Seika was too unfamiliar with, Apprentices were usually given tasks that allowed them to act with a small bit of autonomy to prepare them for the life of a Seated Knight, but to see one who had been directly taken under the wing of a Captain-Commander candidate and especially a Kingsguard candidate was a little unusual.

This level of logic lead Seika to believe the boy was in fact acting far beyond what would be considered 'free reign' territory and going so far as to even instill orders of his own in an effort to accomplish his own goals, something that was further proven as the boy continued to speak about his family. Seika blinked at this information, why would the boy want to come to him to talk about his own family. While he was a superior, he wasn't much for prying into private matters and clearly the boy needed to speak to someone about this information. On top of that, the persistence the boy showed meant that the information was likely extremely important, at least in the boys mind which meant that it could not possibly fall upon the wrong ears less it cause either a scene or a national issue.

Frowning at all of this, Seika would hunch his massive shoulders as he raised a finger to his chin and pondered on the boys request. There was just one more thing that bothered him as the boys last words rang hollow inside of his head, "Who are you calling 'Brother', Apprentice Bryson?" The man's confusion was warranted. He had lived his whole life under the assumption that he had no real family aside from that he was raised with. That meant that all of his siblings were from a time when he was trained to be a living weapon, and as far as he was concerned, he had very few siblings that remained from that time.

Khalfani †

It was the experiences that Khalfani had endured that gave him this mature glow that not many kids their age had. The way they spoke, the way they carried themself- that was all due to the events of their past- all of which was completely out of their control. One would find it strange how much responsibility Khalfani had at such a young age but Khal themselves could understand it. Compared to their superiors, much of the difference lied in their size and less so in their brains. That wasn't to say Khal didn't have extremely childish tendencies and pretended to handle more than they could carry sometimes. For example; the information they had acquired from the sun. For one kid alone, it was overwhelming, but perhaps Knurn could share the burden of knowledge with them.

The Desiertan had learned a number of things, like the fact that they were of Royal Descent on both sides of the family. That alone meant that they were descendants of the gods, given the idea of what being a Pharaoh meant. Ultimately though, they learned that their elder brother had a key role in this somehow- even moreso than they did. The young apprentice lifted their arm to wipe the sweat off of their forehead. Their eyelids slightly lowered as the heat had become almost unbearable at this point. Quickly closing their eyes Khal focused their energy at their core, allowing their magic to course through their body before a rainbow aura just barely resonated from their body to cool their body down. Once they opened their eyes they could see the captain take an unamused expression, tapping their chin before asking who they were referring to.

Khalfani cringed at the name Bryson. It wasn't who they were and it resonated with a part of them that they were trying to move on from. The hunter looked around. "You're the only one standing outside, Knurn." They said before moving their hair out of their face. "And I know it may take a while for my updated file to process, but my name isn't Bryson. It's Khalfani." Even in their cold tone and blunt wording there was pride, and for good reason. After all Khalfani had endured they had discovered that they were some lost crown royal- that they actually may have had a much larger purpose. Perhaps Seika would feel the same way. "Just like your name isn't really Seika, Knurn..." Khal looked around just to make sure nobody was around to hear the conversation. "You are the son of two royal families. The eldest of a Pharaoh's daughter, the first born of a Savannan prince. Both are long dead, but...

Khalfani walked forward, stopping until they were directly in front of the towering dark-skinned fire mage, looking up deep into his eyes. "That makes you a..." The hunter waited for Knurn to piece it together and finish the sentence, but if he didn't Khal would take the liberty to do it. "King." they said matter-of-factly in a sigh with a slight shrug.

This boy was clearly out of his mind with the tone and stance he had taken with him. Heat poured out of Seika like a faucet as the young man strode forward confidently, his ire at being toyed with long since passing for irritation. The boy before him spoke directly yet his words made no sense. Royalty? Lost family? These things were not part of him nor were they his story. He knew nothing of a missing family, he had been raised as a Calendar since essentially birth for all he knew and care to remember. And yet here this young boy stood before him, spitting on that very idea, that very family that he was raised with. It was difficult to hold back his rage, and the only thing that did so was the fact that the young man had approached him with seemingly benign intentions. The boy didn't seem to want to insult or belittle him, but rather form a sort of connection.

With this in mind, Seika would take a visible step back, the first sign that the young man had made even the smallest headway in the conversation. And while Seika still firmly believed the young man before him was spouting absolute nonsense, the true conviction of his voice and his actions shook the man to his core. "Look I don't know what you're after, but this conversation has already gone too far and is now over. Return to your Captain at once and inform him that I'll be speaking with him about your conduct and choice of conversation."

Khalfani †

Even after Khalfani had dropped the facts- which by the way would be appealing to most people- their older brother was refusing to accept them. Khal remained in their position though, with their eyes glued to Knurn's. Most people probably would have believed what Khal was saying right off the bat. People yearned for belonging and some sense of validation for this existence but this man was different. Perhaps he had no reason to believe what the young apprentice was saying. Maybe he was just conditioned to believe that he was on this planet to survive, to live, work and die. Whatever his mindset was, it seemed the divine knight would have trouble getting through. The thought irritated them and it didn't help that the captain threatened to tell their superiors.

Khalfani closed their eyes, dropping their head. "You big dummy..." Khalfani began. Suddenly their eyes opened and immediately found their way back to Knurns, but this time their silver eyes were glowing a vibrant gold color. "You can't tell anyone what I've just told you. Don't you get it? I wouldn't even be here if what I said wasn't true. You think I have some sort of strange ass hidden agenda? Use that big ass head of yours and think!" Khalfani rolled their eyes. "The only reason I'm telling you this is because the sun god told me to. If it were up to me, you'd be living a life of lies, chasing the next paycheck until you grow old and return to the ground." Fani sighed.

Before Knurn could get a word out, they continued- eyes still burning with golden light. "Think about it for one second. I found it hard to believe at first too but I know you feel it. I don't know what it is, but I know you feel it because I feel it just by being next to you. Take what I said as you will but you can't ignore your destiny, Knurn." The hunter hissed. They were done explaining themself, so with their last words they would begin walking around Knurn towards the hall of the ball.

It seemed that no matter what the man said, the boy was forever determined to spout the nonsense he was saying. But even as Seika tried to fight the logic, the boy was at least making some sense. Of course none of it mattered to Seika, even if the boy had valid reasons to speak to him, even if the boy truly meant every word that came out of his mouth, none of it mattered to Seika because he himself knew his own truth. He knew the life he had lived out and the experiences he had gone through. He had no reason to even remotely consider the fact that he had another missing family because he had been raised alongside a family. He had no reason to consider a missing heritage, because he had been born with and had been given a heritage through trial and error, and blood and effort. There was no life that could be promised that he hadn't already lived. So why did this boy seem to think that the life he lived was a lie? Could it actually be? Or was he himself delusion in thinking that he had some connection to a Captain that he had never met in his life.

These questions and concerns floated around Seika's head as the boy mentioned the one thing that he was certain the boy didn't even know was relevant. Mentioning Sol, or rather one of his proxy's in conversation was almost grounds for Seika to approach the boy to see what he knew. If the boy was a believer then why didn't he start off with that. It wasn't like Seika wasn't well known amongst those who worshipped Sol, he was the only one who decided that they could try and spread the love of Sol to the heretical lands of Fiore. But here was a young boy who claimed to have talked to Sol and was using the gods ideals to try and speak some knowledge into him. If that were the case then the most Seika could do would be to at least listen to the boy. Frowning as the boy started to walk past him, he realized that he had been locked into his own thoughts the entire time the boy had been speaking to him outside of small bits and pieces that he had taken in. Seeing the boy about to pass him, his hand shot out and tried to grab onto the slim arm of the boy as he stepped past him. The much taller and far more powerful knight at least tried to keep the boy from moving forward into the ball as he continued to stare forward into the moonlit night. "How do you know of Sol? Your answer will determine whether or not this will continue to be a conversation, or whether or not I'll go ahead and deal with this issue myself. You've made many claims tonight, but to claim to have spoken with a God is something I cannot ignore. If you can convince me that what you claim is true, I will try to actually hear you out completely."

Khalfani †

Whether Khalfani liked it or not, their older brother was a superior officer. He was a captain, earned through hard work. So, when the big mans arm shot out to stop the hunter from walking to the ball, Khalfani stopped in their tracks. As much as the young Desiertan wanted to grab it and push the arm out of their way, they doubted they wouldn't be punished in some manner for it. So Khal simply shifted their gaze, meeting Knurns eyes once more. Finally...the brute was starting to get it- or at least Khalfani thought so before the man brought up Sol. What caught the Captains attention wasn't the truth about his heritage but the mention of a sun god. Khalfani was referring to Amun-ra, but the apprentice was well aware of the many religions and their depiction of the sun. However, they weren't aware of this new god called Sol. Knurn was stubborn and admitted that it would take some convincing to believe that his younger sibling had talked to a god.

"I don't know of Sol. I only worship the Zharian gods, but..." Khalfani began. "Admittedly I...I'm not sure if it was Amun-Ra or another god that I spoke to." The kid looked away as if they were embarrassed to admit it. "I met a woman named Daisia from Desierto. She claimed to be from a family that served our mothers family for generations until they were all hunted and killed for treason or somethin'. I sat with her and she elevated my consciousness. I was brought to this foreign land which I assumed to be Desierto in the span of a second. Next thing I knew, the sun came to me from the sky and it spoke to me. The sun told me to grab it and it would give me knowledge and power. So, began chasing it but..." Khalfani swallowed.

It wasn't a painful memory but the experience itself was surreal. Even now it was had for them to believe it had actually happened. "then these weird ghostly creatures emerged from the ground and began chasing the sun too. I think they didn't want me to capture the sun. In the end, I beat them both and finally the sun stopped moving." They cleared their throat, turning their eyes back onto the bulky knight. "When I caught it a white light consumed me and I was brought back to my body with knew knowledge...and a divine power." Khalfani then frowned. At this point it didn't matter if Knurn wanted to believe them or not, they didn't have the patience anymore. "I thought maybe you could help me understand, but you're just as lost me. I don't know who this Sol is and I don't know which sun-god I spoke to, but I'm fairly certain they were a Zharian god." Khalfani faced forward.

"Now Captain Seika, let me pass, so we can pretend like we've never had this conversation."

The boys description of his encounters with this Amun-Ra sounded very similar to depictions of Followers of Sol meeting with the Sun God itself. It very well could be considered that this 'Amun-Ra' was actually just yet another proxy, another interpretation of yet the same God, the same deity that all truly professed their lives to. The rest of the boys story seemed to revolve around this meeting, the knowledge that was earned through a test of will and courage, it was almost as if now Sol was also testing him, telling him to once again place his faith in it as he had so long ago.

Seika would not immediately unhand Bryson, or rather as the boy called himself, Khalfani, no he would first turn back towards the ball he had just left and scowled. Now there were too many questions, and not enough answers. If what this boy said was true, then he was truly only feet away from acceptance of his rightful place and the acknowledgement of his destiny. However there was always a seed of doubt. It was easy to twist intentions, to honey words. And while the boy so far had seemed to be genuine in his efforts to communicate with whom he considered a brother, Seika was not so sure that another entity or some other force had co-opted the boys plans and goals for themselves to place him and others like him in a situation where they could be harmed.

Thus Seika was left with a choice. Take charge of the situation and move it to a better location suitable for a conversation, or let it end here and never speak or think of it again. It was the temptation that was killing him. The simple thought that he could once again speak to Sol, that he could finally learn the 'truth' as it would. But that would mean killing the old and returning with the new, to rebuild and reassess his life's work. Or maybe, by learning the truth he only reconfirms his earlier beliefs and professes and even greater dedication to all that Sol had provided. It was these thoughts and considerations that flowed through Seika's head like a windmill, spinning and weaving a constant cycle of doubt and curiosity until he finally couldn't take it anymore.

His hand would finally relinquish the young man, noticeable singe marks from the intense heat that being near his person would bring were present on the boys arm and clothing that had touched his hand. His frown was only matched by his intense glare as he leveled his entire presence onto the boy with a look that could melt even the King of Fiore. "Let us take this somewhere else. It seems you have a lot more to tell me about your meeting and our history and here on this balcony is not the place to do it." With that he'd begin to walk off, whether the boy followed or not was not of his concern. He had already decided to hear the young man out, but this location was not ideal for what needed to be discussed. There was too much important and very sensitive information that would likely be tossed around for it to be discussed on the balcony of a ball in a country that clearly had no love for people like them. It was time for Seika to finally learn the truth. The whole truth.

Khalfani †

It was no secret that Khalfani had become frustrated with their elder brother. When Khal was approached with this information, it was accepted easily- but that was because they had spoken with sun directly. However, Knurn was stubborn. If he had spoken with the sun god then he would have probably believed everything the young apprentice was saying. Khalfani was only frustrated because they felt the connection. It was hard to explain exactly how it felt, but something in the young Desiertans soul was telling them that this man did share the same blood. Khal looked at the captain as he leaned over, leveling himself with the younger black individual. Then...he smiled. The strong, stern, bulky hunk of a man had managed to change his entire demeanor within a second. Khalfani's eyes widened in shock at first, but then they couldn't help but smile back. Immediately melted, the young mage nodded. Apparently the man known widely as captain Seika was willing to finally take the conversation elsewhere. Whoever this god Sol he spoke of was, obviously had enough pull to pique his interest. This new god, named after the sun...who were they? Khalfani had questions now too. "Okay." they gently said before following the man. "So..." they began.
