Noel took solace in the fact that he felt guilty of his crimes that he was accused of. That racked his bounty up to such a number. It had been quite a while since he's been alone as he was. While he didn't keep many in his social circle at once, rarely he found himself spending as much time alone as he did now. Not like it was the first time, prior to the beginning months of the year he'd been stuck in prison for many months. His personality had changed after those events, becoming more stoic in nature. Kept in solitary confinement for such long periods made him conceivably more thoughtful of words expressed.

The Blue Pegasi mage sat at the edge of his bed. One leg over the other - reading into one of the books the prison sanctioned him to have. A ruling in the supreme court a few months prior allowed prisoners to receive certain items in order to retain the sanity of the prisoners. So Noel had to request to receive certain books, which a judge could either approve or deny. In his case, most of his requests were approved. There was time to kill anyway. His lawyer, Robert Shapiro, frequently kept in contact to talk about the current movement on the case. The jury still hadn't made up their mind, so a few days had passed. His case had garnered quite some media attention, many newspapers described Noel and his shifting side to evil - which were contradictions to their former suspicions. Perhaps Noel wasn't as bad as he was thought of being. Public opinion began to shift towards his side. Being painted as a good person in the media wasn't something he'd expect - when the guard dropped off some things at the start of his morning shift. He'd read headlines in the daily newspaper that convinced him of his innocence.

A few more days had passed. Noel had been reflecting about his own actions for quite some time now. After his release, at the height of winter - things had been changed in a more positive tone for him. Spring, and summer were relatively quiet. He'd acquired new parts that made his arsenal fuller. For the first time in a long time, he'd feel quit accomplished.

Staring out of his tiny window, Noel put his book away and sighed into the night.

This war of attrition against the district attorneys office wasn't one he enjoyed. Though from the many deals offered by the prosecutor it didn't seem like they had much faith in the jury voting on guilty.

It was what kept him sane in this confinement. The old concrete that was slapped around the place didn't exactly give Noel a warm sensation. He'd rest his hand against the wall and try to feel how thick it was. The books ceased giving him entertainment. Noel was feeling a bit curious. Through his hand, he couldn't feel anything that gave him some sense of depth. He'd slap the wall to try and hear the echo - something he could use to determine its thickness. The wall gave a hollow reply, convincing Noel it was about a few feet. Nothing his strength couldn't crush. If the jury voted on guilty, he'd decide to break out - is what he thought. No way he was going to waste away in this prison. Noel laid on the floor and put his ear to the ground - maybe he could hear/feel footsteps approach and distance. This inquisitive side he'd put up was just a distraction for his boredom.

The steel bars at the front of his cell were quite cold. Surely described as "impenetrable" by the contract given to the prison by those who built these bars. This prison wasn't a steel mill, he'd doubt that they placed these bars in.

During his next day in jail, he'd decide to work out a little. Nothing too fancy like training - but surely retaining his muscle mass during his imprisonment wasn't a gnarly idea. So he'd do multiple sets of simple sit-ups, pushups and planking at the end of the reps. Needless to say that his patience was running thin. If this imprisonment was going to take much longer, he'd surely revert to his previous state of mind - the stoic, and mentally absent one. Casting magic here wasn't an option. Each floor of the dungeon had an anti magic jammer built into it. According to Noels theories, they're nullification jammers. They were prone to being overloaded, he'd theorize. With his large mana pool, he could overthrow the system by paying large amounts of mana. Not that he was going to do it though - he didn't cross a man who did no wrong, but that didn't stop him from thinking about it.

His inquisitive mind led him to all different corners of his cell. Maybe there was a weakness to exploit, something he could take advantage of in his hypothetical break out. He'd wrap his mind around it, to distract himself from the case - and if the outcome was decided against his favor, these were preparations he'd like to have ready to go if it came down to it.

During his final day in prison, he'd receive an eloquent letter with a red wax seal stamped on it - sealing it from outside access. Opening this letter revealed the outcome of the court case. He quickly scanned the document, he'd see autographs made by the judge and the jury, it was an official document for sure. In big red letters in the middle of the letter it said, 'VOTED INNOCENT'

A smile appeared on his face.

The outcome of the court case had been decided in Noels favor; he was to be released from prison at once. Robert Shapiro visited his cell just after he'd have finished reading the letter sent by the court. He was there to bring him out. There was quite some media attention focused at the entrance of the prison. Word of Noels verdict had gotten out. A press release was given by the prosecutor at the court - they stated that they were convinced that Noel was due the death sentence. They were confident that Noel would one day be claimed by this wicked fate - but it wasn't going to be today.

Noel left the prison with Robert Shapiro - he assumed he was being paid by the Blue Pegasi so he didn't bother handing him a bag of money. Not like he had any money on him at the moment anyway. He'd pick up his items that were kept by the jail, items that completed his arsenal. He was convinced of his innocence, this was a symbolic gesture to the prison that he was an innocent man. What guilty person would go to prison voluntarily with their most valuable possessions?

After moving through most of the media press, he quickly hopped on his horse and rode out into the sunset. This was the first time in quite some time there wasn't a bounty pinned to his head. He felt freedom for the first time in a very long time. Where to head first? He couldn't quite decide. Mustang had been kept healthy at the stables, he figured that the royals had owed him for all of the acts he'd committed in favor of them over the years. He'd feel quite hard boiled after the events in prison - wanting nothing else but to put this beside him and move on. To a brighter future.
