It was a cold night. The silvery pearl-white wings of moonlight were chipped into tiny feathers of gleam by a horrific army of blackened spooky clouds that did not hesitate to start a pouring attack of heavy murky rain. Heavy were the cries from heaven on this night as the ground seem to soak and grow steady with levels that slowed those that walked through it.

It was accelerating to the ground as if it was a bomb waiting to explode slaughtering the life underneath it and chopping the souls into minuscule pieces. The wind marched into the chilly picture blowing like a sneezing monster as it peeled off the yellowish cadaverous leaves from the petrified strangled branches. Along with a horrific act of springing back from one tree to another, it furiously howled a filthy impenetrable cold into the gritty air. It was a night, in which everything, everyone. Froze.

Jikan's feet stepped on this coldness, the stillness of nature. As if she was ignoring the effects weathered had on the environment around her. Above it. At least to her. Whether she felt that was was a trival matter. She still had to walk through the snow and endure the cold. Just like anyone else. But thankfully she was all bundled up in the clothes she wore ready to return to Fiore.

Unfortunately her entire time taking this trip felt....off. Wrong. And for some reason as she walked slowly through the distant town far away from, her home of Orchidia. It only grew more and more present to her. In the distance she spot it and as she walked within it felt worse. The windows were dark and filled with shadows that felt like they played tricks on ones eyes. On the inside, the homes looked like haunted houses that are filled with things like dust, cobwebs, creaking doors, cockroaches, mist, shadows, ripped curtains, ghosts, rats, and rot.

This was place that was most certainty not a good place that Jikan would wish to rest at in this night. But...it was late. And she had no knowledge of the distance of the next resting spot. She could continue to move on, she had no fear of running into some bandits that would like to rob anyone or any pitiful low class and lack of pride magic users that were waiting in the night to take people's positions. But....to be honest Jikan just simply did not want to deal with the distance even more.

And so she walked forward more. Stepping fully into the town now.

And then stopped. Even if she just entered the town, her years of fighting humans and creatures of the night made her fully aware of one thing. The smell of blood...

Something was amiss here. Something....happened in this town. The question was...what?

As she continued walking onward Jikan began to pick up more and more signs of the events that had transpired in the town. Holes were present in the ground. Various in size and numerous. Dozens upon dozens if she had to make a guess about it. The cracks and gaps in the ground felt heavy and ruined. As if they were Nuclear waste.

A harm that was one that the untrained eye would tell is very serious and harmful to the land. Perhaps its very spirit as well. And to the mind of the people within its borders. The cold air, the smell of blood...and the more and more she went in...death...an emptiness. It was like a pollution. Air, water and land, all contaminated. All damaged in some way or form. All pieces of the happy little images that made up the town, in its past, in its...normality. Were erased. Even before Jikan was not the type to take land destruction as something lightly. But...this...this was on a whole other level. There was practically nothing to even be taken lightly.

There was not a single lot on in the businesses. No light coming from any nearby homes. And there were no warmth...light coming from the streets. And the smell of spilled blood was just becoming stronger and stronger to her plain nose. It was overwhelming. Her gauntlet felt heavy as her fist tightened, readying herself for if she had to fight. Steady were her steps and soon she turned a corner, walking randomly and not really knowing why she was headed in this direction.

The smell hit harder and then she saw. One...two...six...twelve. Bodies. dozens of bodies. All laying out on the floor. Motionless, and as she moved closer and knelt. Placing a hand on the back of one of the people's neck. She knew. They were dead. And she knew something else. This one....the male body before her....had been bitten by a vampire. Thee were two moles on his neck...and from her knowledge due to her upbringing she had no doubt. They were fang marks...but....small??

Jikan continued to look around after she finished examining the first body. The neck, the arms, the legs. Each limb that she had checked on this bodies laying on the floor held the same mark on their flesh as the first body.

But...it was strange. The marks were...less tamed than the first one she looked. Some bodies had multiple marks. Some bodies had...drag marks on them on the spots they were bit. It was as if it was done in a frenzy...out of control...and not in the mindset of feeding or enjoying the taste of blood. It...looked more like...rage. It felt as if it was done in some sort of retaliation against some transgression. And even more so...the way the bodies looked made Jikan question some things. It was in the dead of the night, and far late as well. But, none of the bodies looked as if they were dressed for bed or to stay at home.

No. Everyone on the ground before her looked like they were ready for work. Hard work. Combat even combat of all things. It.... was odd. Weapons were in their hands. small blades for...surgery? maces... syringes, whips. Others just had their bare hands but with braces on their hands and knuckles. Some even having full on dual gauntlets.

"Just what in the wor-", Jikan froze and spun around.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHAHHAHAAAAAAAAHHHHH".

She heard the scream. A shriek. A death wail. Having her head on a swivel, she held her body's arms up in a boxer stance. Looking around swiftly like her eyes were bees moving. Seeing nothing she moved.Breaking out in a run towards to where she believed the source of the sound was. She hopped, skipped, and danced around the dead bodies and she made her way forward. Deeper yet again into the town. The darkness in the night felt stronger. Moving and expanding as if it was swarming in on the town. On the dead bodies. On Jikan.

It was the night. Coming forward for all those before it. Jikan wondered. Why. She was sensing all of this but why was she here? Why was she going towards what was likely just another dead body? It had nothing to do with her. This town had no connection to her. It was not Orchidia, and even if it was. It was just the town that she had heard Sleeping Calamity would be based in.

She came to a stop. Sliding her feet to halt her momentum. Rocks and dirt pushed and flew into the air as the red haired maiden's feet pressed into the ground, leaving their mark. Her head went up, scanning and shook as the scene before her. The shriek was from a man, and he was still yelling. Weakly, lowly. His eyes cold, slowly fading of life. A rod metal glowing cool from its heat against the freezing night air.

The hot red rod sizzles. A grey smoke cloud blowing off of it in a little wavy cloud. The helpless gurgle of the man is all that is present from him now. His eyes are empty, his voice dead. The the hot metal rod held in his gloved left hand. Down by his side of his lifeless body. The rod slowly slid in his hand inch by inch very slowly.

This was all she saw but her eyes went up. Her breath going at a faster pace but also a hint of sadness at the sight before her. A head was digging into his neck. A continuous wave of loud crunch noises. It was not chewing, it was not biting. It was cutting. Ripping. Tearing.

It was a vampire. A small vampire that looked like a child. A girl. And she was digging into, cutting, and spitting out the flesh of the man. Eating blood but oh so more focus on just killing the man.

Jikan stayed where she was right now. There was no point in her moving to the man or the vampire. He was already gone. No need to be rash and emotional about a dead man. Even more so a dead man that she did not know anything about nor cared for.

Her hands stayed up, ready to cast her magic if she needed to. To punch and smack away blows. Her legs bent ready to move into a run towards the vampire, dodge to the side, or just get space. She eyed the made out the details of the vampire. She had no idea for sure to know if she was indeed a child but she could guess at least that the vampire was a girl. She had silver hair and a lighter pale skin tone. Long ears? Was she an elf that got turned into a vampire then? That made it more complex. She could look like a child but be extremely old. A vampire alone had that ability but one that was also technically an Elf. Well, that left the room for a long time of experience and skill to be acquired. Jikan needed to be careful here.

Jikan continued to observe the vampire. They looked skinny, very frail and fragile. As if they had not had food in a long long time. Perhaps they were held back from hunting and were just now satisfying themselves? Small black wings hanged from their back. They looked pitched black, powerful. But yet...majestic? That was a weird thought to have with all of the times she has seen wings on monsters.

They also a white undershirt that was drenched in blood, a red vest of a deeper red on top. A red thread tied around the top of the shirt's color into a bow. Cuts were all over thier body but it seemed like they had done nothing to slow them down. However, one thing that Jikan noticed. That really drew in her attention. Was the fact, that on the girl's ankles and wrist. And on her neck. Were chains. Broken chains that jiggled and danced in the wind as she finished drinking the man's blood.

She dropped the body before kicking it. Only then did Jikan's presence seem to register to her. She looked up and Jikan saw, the girl's eyes were red. Redder than the sea of blood she had spilled on this night.

"Who...are you. I know all the faces of the scum I killed today but you...I do not know you", the girls voice sounded like one that matched her frame. Albeit slightly older. Instead of being a young child like Jikan had first imagined, instead it sounded slightly more mature. As if it was belonging to a pre-teen. Beyond that, the voice sounded....empty. Cold. And it matched the look on the vampire's face as it gazed at Jikan.

The look faded in the temporary angry and blood lust that was first there when she looked up at Jikan. But shifted, from hunger. To confusion. To disinterest. To her current face; an impassive wall, giving away no hint of what she was feeling inside.

"Well. I am not from this town. My name is Jikan...", Jikan spoke in her usual calm serene voice. Her face empty of expression as well but her eyes shined bright with the intensity of a warrior before what they feared as a powerful beast.

".....", the vampire did not speak. She simply stared at Jikan after the magic user had finished speaking. Blood was trickling down their face as they stared at Jikan with a cold emptiness. Which was interesting. The hatred, the aggression, hunger, and violence that Jikan was just getting from the vampire child(?) seemed to have....just disappeared. "Okay", her voice came off distant and suspicious still.

"Sorry to say...but I got my freedom today. And I am, not going back. So. I can't afford to have any witnesses of what I've done to these people today as my justice". With that said she dropped the now dead body. The lunged towards Jikan. Moving with a friehting amount of speed as her eyes turned red, and her hair somehow managed to turn into a light silver white shade of hair.

Well....here we go. Jikan thought to herself as the vampire with a child like appearance lunged forward at her. Red eyes and silver white hair was all that Jikan saw as she saw a kick come out to her. Jikan's awesome responded seeing the attack home. Her arms crossing over her chest to form an X, gauntlet arm out in front. With a smack the blow landed against Jikan's guard. The force shaking her body caused her feet to dig into the ground. Her feet digging and sliding backwards in the ground as she clinched her teeth and grunted.

Her body move a few meters back, and when it stopped. Jikan's arms, and the unknown Vampire's leg was shaking. Pressing force against the other in an attempt to take control of the clash. The red eyes of the vampire child gazing out at Jikan as she felt the strong resistance.

Inhaled deeply, Jikan focused her body. Her muscles tightening and flexing. Her mind attempting to relax her magic and physical prowess. The blow did not break any of her armor, but still, the energy of the kick sent waves through her bones and muscles. With a kai Jikan pushed, shouting as she snapped her arms forward, pushing the kick back and forcing her attacker into the air. "Rude. I gave you my name but you did not give me yours. Rude of a person".

The unknown vampire's body flipped in the air. A soft elegance and lightness. A look that betrayed the heavy handiness of her physical power. Her body and movement an illusion to what she could really do. The figure landed on the ground on their feet. Eyes trained on Jikan, a few seconds passed as they waited and thought. Jikan and her eyes never moving away from each other.

Carefully watching every motion, Jikan was unsure if she should move. Their speed was compariable, and she was not sure who won the outcome of strength. Energy and endurance would play a role. As well as if the vampire could use magic. It was not clear yet or not if they had the use of magic on their side. If they did it would make their fight all the more difficult. But if she did not, and Jikan played her cards right.....she could-

Jikan blinked her eyes, the martial artist taking the moment to let out a very...surprised look under her stoic mask that was her face. She held her hands still up in front of her body, ready to seize the reins of battle but... "You do not have name?", her voice sad very softly.

"...", Jikan was really at a lost for words. It hurt to hear that fact. The fact of lose of identity, something to hold onto and say it was ones own. Something to grasps on to. But why? Why did Jikan even care about such the matter....this vampire looked like a child, sure that had a level of sensitivity to Jikan, but....it was different here. For some reason, and she had no idea of why, beyond that it was something deep within her. Something in her mind and heart that pulled a string.

A small flash came to Jikan's eyes. A blur, sounds, a bright light. Her head hurt it hurt so much. Her eyes blurred and her left hand went to her head. For some reason the small vampire let out a growl of annoyance. Charging forward toward her target headfirst. "THAT WAS THEN. NOW I AM FREE, I"M MUCH MORE THAN 426!".

Their voice cried out. A desperation, swallowing any anger that Jikan had heard before. A want, a need. A determination. A hand came to Jikan, the red head still dazed by the sudden hard mental pain to her brain that disabled her. A swing, a small left hand coming as a fist to punch into Jikan's left arm. Unguarded she felt the hit but could not help but keep contact with the vampire's face. Her eyes...red as they were, were overflowing with another color. One that seemed to be swallowing any hunger, blood lust, or anger. Blue, clear, heavy; tears.

Her full power in her strike, but not her full heart as it seemed she was breaking from within her inner self. The impact reverberated across the open air. With a sound that felt more like harsh metal hitting metal than a contact of flesh to flesh.

Jikan's limb shook, her consciousness coming back to her from the force she felt and the pain absorbed. The mustered full brunt force of the vampire's power acting as an alarm for her senses and mind. Just enough for the the headache and flashing visions to disperse from her mind. The blow coming in with superhuman strength, shaking Jikan's arm to the side. The red head quickly moving the arm back in a last minute attempt to counter the small vampire's momentum of their follow up punch with a clean parry. Knocking back the limb with a swift swipe. Leaving the vampire wide up for a follow up strike.

But, Jikan found herself not able to move. Not truly move. Her right hand flew forward, instead of a punch there it was open, and did not hold no where near as much force as she could truly exert.

She still moved though. She was not the type to let herself get killed due to emotions or situations. She had to defend herself from someone who said they wanted to kill her. To remove her from the possibility of finding out about what happened on this night. And so she would defend herself. The right handed palm strike handed. Flying forward into the wide open chest of her enemy. Enemy? How much so was she really...more...obstacle. Yes, obstacle in this situation that deemed that this had to happen.

Either way, the vampire left out a soft gasp as she felt the wind partially knocked out of her. Sending her body flying backwards again to land on her feet. Slightly wobbly. It seemed that she was not as durable as Jikan had assumed. Perhaps not enough blood, perhaps her body was still broken and drained from the harsh long fights she had done to gain her freedom on this night.

Just then a figure walked out. Dawned in a brown coat with a white lab coat hanging from their arm. A bllack tuxedo underneath the brown coat. They wore large thin square silver glasses, they face tight at the mouth as they approached. Serious in their eyes, angered, along with a faint additional emotion. "Thank you thank you Madam. I applaud you for what you done. Coming in my dire time of need to put down...it", the man said with a few soft claps of his hand.

Jikan head turned to the man, a blank look that was thinking. A bit surprised by the look of there being any survivors in the mayhem. The vampire jolted, body trembling at the sound of the man's voice. A intense mixture of rage and fear on her face as she turned towards the man. "You...".

"Yes yes it is I, my little toy. Number 426. You really made a mess. I had to go hide in my little bunker and watch from the monitor".

The man flicked his left hand, a long whip flowing from his sleeve. Fire, lightening, and arcane energy flowed from it.

Mouth a gap, it was looking like they were going to be struck. Until Jikan moved. In a blur her body flashed, her red head looking like a streak as she shifted in front of the vampire...child. That was all she needed to hear and know, she raised her left hand. Letting the blow cut and wrap into the limb. Electric smoke sparked her arm as she felt the limb light on fire. With a grunt, Jikan held onto the whip.

This... was all Jikan needed. The gall to assume she would be on their side. To be at the back and call. The very nerve. It sounded like the King was not up to their ideas, and that others under the shadow was. But, the sacrifice of laugh, for experiments, to abuse and separate kids; the youth. To burn land, lives, memories, hope. It made her sick. The man was mad, truly mad and evil. Even more so.

She found him simply disgusting.

With a yank she pulled the man's body forward. Sending his body towards her in the air, their grasp on their while faltering and falling to the ground. Eyeing the man, Jikan cocked back her right hand, a white magic circle appearing by her fist before she shot it forward. A tornado of wind forming and traveling to the man's body as he yelled. In an instant the howling wind cut him, blasting a whole through his chest and cutting his arms and legs. Leaving several areas of laceration before falling to the ground with a thud. Jikan flicked her hand, throwing the whip to the ground before kicking it away.
