Gamemaster

Name: Whack-a-What?
Reward: 3x Pumpkin Pop
Participants: This game requires one user.
Description: Can you whack as many zombies within the time limit?
Explanation:

  • To play the game, the player approaches the game booth in which the skeleton greets them and tells them to take a seat on a stool. He will give you a club to use during the game.
  • The skeleton will start the game of Whack-a-What, a variation of Whack-a-Mole that involves whacking as many zombie heads popping out as possible.
  • Start whacking the zombie heads popping out of the holes. Roll the dice once and add on 10 if your base speed unaffected by boosts or items is greater than 30. If the total of the roll is over 70, you win the game.
  • When the game has concluded, the user is considered removed from the topic.

Masami
Samhain; warned by being eaten alive by the monsters within, Masami appeared in a completely different appearance. He had an appearance that made him look more of a demon rather than human—with Lucifer's help, of course. He may just be a demon soul, but apparently that demon soul's got some style. Masami was surprised by the games; the horrific atmosphere was covered up by the seasonal lights. It's finally autumn, too! What else was there to do than to play games?

Starting off in the Garden of Rest, Masami slowly walked towards the game booth. The ground was muddy and he was afraid that his white garment might get dirty, thus walking slowly – he even hesitated trying the booth out because he was human, what if he gets eaten alive just like the rumors say? The skeleton that guarded the game booth called the boy and, apparently, dragged him to sit on the stool; it was better than turning into sushi, at least. In front of a stool was a large... table? A cabinet? It had holes in them; Masami wasn't fond of circus games so he didn't know what was going to happen.

"Err..." he was given a small club, too; it felt like he was being held at gunpoint if he did not play. The club was of weight and Masami wasn't sure if he was able to do it. Anyway, one zombie had popped up and to Masami's surprised, he shrieked and hit it back down using the club. Seeing the sight, the skeleton clapped; they weren't even talking at all. "Alrighty..." guess Masami just has to do the same thing again and again? The booth's lights had turned on, revealing a timer and a point counter. Three, two, one... time to whack some zombie heads!

After failing the previous game, shiichiro shrugged and continued on with his normal routine of wandering through these unknown lands. He bid the skeleton farewell before moving onto the next potential activity for him to play. He realized it was pointless to wonder where, or even when, he was currently placed at. Moving on, he had approached another skeleton who seemed to be lifeless. Approaching it, he began to speak to it as if it has sentience. The skeleton continued to stand there with a blank stare and smile. This frustrated shichiro a bit before he heard the voice behind him. "Are you looking for something, stranger," asked the voice behind him. This startled Shichiro a bit, turning around quickly with both his hands up balled into a fist ready to strike something down. "Easy there, friend. The skeleton you're trying to talk to isn't real, only made of paper, a decoration. Now if you want somebody to talk to, maybe even have a little bit of fun, you can talk to me! What do ya say?" Not saying a word, shichiro scoffed and as usual, he asked for the rundown of what game he should be trying to play and what the rolls were, he was used to this routine by now. The skeleton put on a bony grin and what sounds like the rattling of its jaw bone which he presumed was its way of laughing. Now being led to where the next game lies, shichiro had gotten the run down of the rules as they had travelled to their destination. The game was fairly simple, he would be given a mallet and all he had to do was whack zombie heads as they appeared rapidly from this little contraption in front of him. It was all about speed and Shichiro was confident in his.

Juni Anastos
The number of games she had lost throughout her time in Samhain was actually very laughable. She couldn't even be sad or mad about it anymore. All Juni could do was laugh at her own misfortune, her own bad luck, her own clearly cursed and pitiful self. Any sane person would have stopped playing these clearly rigged games, but not Juni. The young and beautiful floating head was on a mission, a mission to play all the games, even if she lost every single one she would still play. She had nothing better to do anyway and with the recent loss of her favoured weapon it was good that she took the time to keep herself busy. Walking around in the garden of rest she strolled over to a game booth that was near the entrance. The skeleton being inside of the booth quickly greeted her, shaking her hands with his own bony ones. Once the greetings were out of the way she was handed a club and asked to take a seat on a stool. Juni denied the seat, she needed to stand for this. Without even being told she knew what she would be doing in this game. Doing a little stretch she got herself in a position that not even this curse could kill. She was gonna win this game, she had to win this game for the sake of her sanity. Once the zombie's heads started popping up she started slamming her club down on them as fast as she could. She hit those heads with a fury of a woman scorned, like some pent up anger and rage inside of her was coming out in each and every one of those swings. She almost didn't hear the buzzer for her to stop but she quickly caught herself and with hopeful eyes looked at her score.

#8Odin †

Samhain: Whack-a-What? Empty Tue Oct 27, 2020 6:35 am

Odin †

Impressively enough, Odin had gotten three out of the four items completely perfect. The first had simply been a loaf of bread, so it wasn't the hardest thing to predict, even if Odin didn't need to eat anymore. They got harder after that, each one progressively more difficult until the Lich couldn't correctly guess it at all. The second had been a bottle, but specifically a bottle of wine, which was important to guess correctly for the points. Once again, for the wine connoisseur that the Lich was, guessing the bottle of wine was perfectly straightforward. In his head he had even guessed the vintage correctly, just by the sound it made, something that was entirely impossible to do and yet he still managed to do it. Number was a clock, but the hands had been removed to make it more difficult. The ticking was out of sync and there was very little clockwork involved which made it more difficult to make a decision. Eventually he managed to get it.

The fourth was a box, Odin had gotten that almost instantly, but he had to guess what exactly was inside the box. He frantically shook it, trying to get an idea for the weight of whatever was lurking within. After a few minutes of shaking it with a large degree of force, he simply guessed a small knife. Turns out he was very wrong, as he took off the blindfold to reveal a, now dead, hamster. Woops.

Anyway, the next game was one Odin had played before. He knew how the skeleton attack game was played, but he couldn't remember if he had been any good at it. Probably not, but that would change today. He was faster now, and could catch the zombie heads as they popped up. He just needed to be fast enough.

#10Besouro

Samhain: Whack-a-What? Empty Tue Oct 27, 2020 11:53 am

Besouro
Besouro approached the stall, guided by the skeleton manning it. This was its second game at Samhain, but it still gave the appearance of one needing help, it supposed. After a moment, it was directed to a small, red leather stool. It clicked it mandibles together once. It knew it should sit down, but chairs not suited for its abnormal anatomy were more uncomfortable than otherwise. Its mind traveled backward about ten minutes- it had gotten two out of three numbers figured out on the combination lock, but had gotten antsy and completely blew the last one. Hopefully, the insect would fare better at this event.

After a few seconds of staring, it abruptly realized that it was supposed to be sitting down for this attraction. It plunked down gracelessly, crossing its ankles politely while it waited for the skeleton to return. The machine had not been reset since the last participant at this particular game- but that wasn't an issue. It liked to think it was patient enough, anyway. After a few moments, the insect tilted its head downwards, letting the surprisingly light weight of its horns fall forward. It hoped it wasn't disrupting anyone's time- more often than not, its poor luck seemed to manifest in a multitude of last minute adjustments needed in the machines. About ninety seconds passed before the skeleton manning the stall approached it, handing it a small wooden club. It clenched the weapon experimentally, running the odd wood over its carapace. The bug tended to have a diminished sense of touch, but Besouro liked to imagine that it'd feel smooth and grainy beneath its fingers.

A countdown was given to the start of the game, backwards from ten. The temporary weapon was clenched firmer, as if its grip was directly proportional to the score it would get.

Here went nothing.

An optimistic mage, Vice waits for the magic to come. Sometimes no games are won. Some things can contribute to another underlying purpose. Having arrived in the graveyard, Vice had respectfully leaked something on the landing of his steps. Fully relieved and clean, Vice has zipped up his outfit once more. Everything's just a basic human process, even if the scary alt races can pretend otherwise. All sorts of big daddies and lil daddies are in the ancestral grounds. Expectations and legacies live to die in this gloomy place. Keeping in the spirit of Halloween, Vice's appearance remains brightly orange. Looking forward to his next game, some unique spiritual moments will give Vice pure failures. Feeling full of the wonders of this land makes Vice not want to anticipate sitting down.

Eyeing another game booth, where Vice might leave his caca on the stool, he sits down. Whack-A-Mole is a mean and bad game, as Vice understands the explanation. Teaching bestial sadism to gamers at such a young age, as Vice. Why does he have to hit the cute zombie heads? Zombie's such a nice race compared to looking boney like every other Lich. It's weird how it's been so long without the pretty zombies in the world. Wanting to close his eyes, Vice doesn't want to know whether he's hitting living zombie heads. Where are these zombies sourced from? The poor zombies. A professional whacker, Vice is at least speedy enough to play games like these. An orange version of Barney the Dinosaur is now hitting with an ogre's club. Vice is a little subdued with hitting these heads, since they look like human heads, but maybe that's why he could fail again. Some processes aren't taken into emotional considerations like Vice's.

Requiem
Requiem walked along the stalls and enjoyed the festivities as she pondered her future. Oh, cotton candy! Nom.

Armed with cotton candy, kettle corn, warm cider and a really nice scarf (no really, it had to be the nicest scarf she'd seen in a long while), Requiem made her way through the crowds. Children ran along, trick or treating while adults killed about either watching or shopping. She watched some crows swoop past, snatching up unattended food and forgotten coins. The more enterprising murders perched near trash bins. One particularly clever crow hopped inside a bin and started tossing things out of it to his friends.

Little bastards.

Requiem saw a cute little stand being run by a skeleton with a stool in front of it, "Come, come come and have some fun for fun! What'll you win? Who knows? I sure don't!"

Requiem giggled like an idiot and took the seat, "now young miss, just take this hammer and go ham and cheese on the Whack-A-Whats! Good luck!"

She sat poised, slightly taught and waited for the game to start. The zombie heads popped up quickly, and Requiem struck as fast as she could.

Steel

Steel wearing his tuxedo and scary outfit, after having removed the carved jack o lantern pumpkin from his head, was looking more like a medieval executioner. The burlap mask that Steel had made was covered in extreme amounts of puke but Steel soldiered on. That last game had taken a lot of Strength out of him but moving out of the area of Samhain's tower Steel had to move on. He had to work for those pumpkin pops. Harder than anyone else he had to work so hard that steel wasn't as hard as Steel was working.

Steel entered the graveyard of broken dreams. Or actually maybe this was the graveyard of parties. Steel thought this to himself as a rave party seemed to be going on in the middle of the graveyard. The ghosts were dancing all around. It was friggin crazy. Steel however was not one to get drunk or otherwise intoxicated.

Steel once again found a game booth. And god damn it he wanted to win this time but only chance or luck could determine that. He walked up to the game booth and the skeleton in the booth explained that Steel had to hit as many zombies as he could. This was some nefarious game where you had to crush multiple zombie heads as they jumped out of holes. To a normal person this might be scary but Steel was getting angry with these games.

And so he took his position and the game started WHACK! WHACK! WHACK!

Karisa

There seemed to be a thing where her luck is just trash, with EVERYTHING! She went along and away from the last game in which she had to touch things. Did she fail at all of them but one? Two? She did not remember. It did not matter since she lost the first try and that was what mattered. The next game seemed to consist of whacking stuff with a small hammer. Thank you, Mercy. For not making her use a large hammer to hammer time things. She had not strength at all, but this game did not require such a thing.

She approached calmly as the Skeleton checked her out. "Hey there, momma. Wanna give it a try?" He moved his eyeholes as if he was raising his eyebrows flirtatiously. She rolled her eyes but gave a smirk. At least she was not too old in this body to get flirted with. "Alright, let me try." She wondered if she could win anything. At least four more pops would be good enough for her. She had only a few more games left. Will she win enough to get what she wants or will she truly fail at everything else as well as this game?

Günter Von Wolf

Gunter blitz runs his way into the next tent, not listening to the skeleton, and grabs the hammer. He sees what seems to be whack a mole in front of him and thinks he already knows what to do. Gunter sits there, slamming away furiously at the machine. The skeleton says in the background "Oh my I haven't seen anyone hit the machine that hard in a while! Try not to break it, it comes out of my paycheck!"

Gunter, not giving a fuck, slams away at the machine and destroying zombie heads. The skeleton says "My golly gee you sure did good there!" Gunter then starts slamming the skeleton with his hammer, wailing on it until it explodes into pieces. He then kicks the skeleton's skull out the tent while saying "Fore!". Sick of their shit, sick of the world. As he walks out of the tent, the skeleton respawns behind him with a laugh. "Well gee whilickers, you'll need to do better than that!". At that, Gunter sighs and either collects his reward or doesn't depending on how the game went. Either way, he got out a a bit of aggression. From now on he'll probably shit stomp these skeletons a lot more just because he can.

Alyssandra
Aly didn't even guess the first item correctly, further proving how difficult some of these games were. Even more difficult than they likely had any right to be. How anyone could win some of them he had no idea, but he made sure not to let it get him down and moved onto the final game of the area. Perhaps he would be lucky here, or perhaps he would end up with an entire area having beaten him completely. The next game, at least in theory, seemed to be easier than the previous two, as Alyssandra Davenport approached a new skeleton once more with a grin on his face. It sucked to lose but he wasn't going to let that ruin his or anyone else's day. After all, this skeleton seemed rather friendly, apparently his great great grandson had just had a daughter and he was showing off the descendant he never knew he'd get to see grow up. Being undead certainly had its perks it seemed, and it was very cute to see.

Stepping up to the next machine, where zombie heads would pop up and require slamming with a mallet, the wood elf took a deep breath. He was fast, he knew how to track animals and keep up with them if he had to. Perhaps that would come in handy here.

Ryuko

Another night, another game, and considering she just had puked up the dinner that the skeletons had served her, Esperia was in the mood to whack some zombies, and she didn't even need a hammer, no she would whack them with Morrigan's staff! To the onlookers it might had looked a bit disturbing as they watched the young lady darting back and forth whacking the zombies with her large staff, the poor zombies crying out in agony, whether she would win this game or not didn't matter to her at this point, she just wanted to let out her frustration.

At some point she had even lost a track of time as the skeletons urged her to take a break and take some deep breathes, fortunately some advice she followed and after the game had ended Esperia approached the nearby skeletons to inquire about the games, but more importantly about what type of place Samhain was. While they were more than eager to tell her about all the games they had planned, they remained oddly mysterious about the nature, or purpose of this town, leaving Esperia with more questions than answers, although she did enjoy a game of whack a zombie, or ten...
