Overall: Nuala’s physique is lithe, with a slight hourglass figure and noticeable muscles. Her hair is a darker shade of purple, but the intensity of the colour can change depending on various factors. Nuala has sharp, cat-like eyes that are amethyst with a spark of blue and her complexion is pale, almost ghostly, leaving no trace to her desiertan ethnicity. Nuala has high cheek bones, sharp and elegant features that appear youthful, but stern and although her mimic can soften considerably depending on her mood, it’s always entirely void of all innocence. Nuala moves swiftly and with precision, carrying herself with an assassin’s grace.
Extra: When Nuala is affected by magic of any type, purple markings (two vertical slashes on her forehead and two on each one of her cheeks) appear on her face. These are relics of her past and no longer serve a purpose.

✦ PERSONALITY

Personality: Nuala is vigilant, timid and patient, with a talent for being silent and invisible. Introverted and a people-watcher, Nuala is the passive type and never the life of the party. She’s quiet, gloomy, and not rarely lost in thoughts. Nuala often struggles to interact with people and although she normally sharp and witty, her personal insecurities are revealed in situations where social skills are required. Nuala’s awkward, but not rude. She’s agreeable, not prone to causing conflict and a reliable friend once she’s warmed up to someone. Although her emotional skills are dulled, she’s not at all uninterested in forming bonds and will be trusting and loyal after some time. When the ice is melted, Nuala expresses her comfort by cracking jokes and offering emotional intimacy. She’s an excellent listener and can be a comforting shoulder to lean on. Nuala’s magic is weak, and she earns a living by being a skillful thief and rogue for hire. Her sense of right and wrong is quite jaded, but she’s not inherently evil and has personal limits and boundaries. Overall, Nuala’s focused on her personal survival with little regard for how others are affected by her deeds, but it’d be wrong to call her cold or callous because she isn’t.

Dumplings: Nuala loves to eat and dumplings (in all their variations and flavours) happen to be her favourite dish.
Daggers: Daggers are Nuala's weapon of choice, as she finds them to be efficient and relatively easy to wield.
Shiny things: Nuala's a thief with a taste for all things shiny. Gold, jewelry, diamonds and pearls, you name it.

Dislikes:

Plains: Nuala's natural instinct is to hide, blend into the shadows and disappear behind walls and within alleys. In an area that's entirely bare and void of any structures offering shelter, she feels uncomfortable.
Magic: Nuala’s magically inept and finds dealing with magic, be it magical locks or traps, or simply spells aimed at her, both difficult and unnerving.
Cold Weather: Nuala freezes easily and very much prefers summer and spring time in Fiore.

Motivations:

Home: Nuala’s always stumbling through life without much of a goal, solely focused on her survival. At some point, she’d like to settle down and find a place to call home, but with the ever-changing circumstances of her life, this seems more and more unlikely the more time passes. Still, she hasn’t given up.

Fears:

Death: Nuala doesn't want to die. After everything that she has been through and all the struggles she has overcome, the woman cannot stand the thought of losing it all to the nothingness that is death.
Imprisonment: Nuala is free-spirited and the thought of being chained, jailed or held captive in one place terrifies her. She’s afraid of losing her freedom in any sense and goes great lengths to avoid jail time while being a criminal.

✦ HISTORY

Nuala’s past is a blur. She recalls days under the sun, with her feet stuck inside the sandy desert of Desierto, surrounded by farm animals and impoverished, but loving parents. Her family was self-sufficient and lived a quiet life, away from big cities and crowds of people, without glamour and plenty of simplicity. Nuala barely remembers being a child but feels comfort in knowing that there was nothing related to her family that brought her agony or pain. It’s only for a few years, but she has a home and she’s safe.

After that, her memories are entirely obscured. Nuala sees darkness and for a long time, there’s nothing else. A lifetime lasting many decades filled with nothing but foggy flashbacks and the sound of cracking bones, odd animalistic noises, and terrifying screams – Nuala’s mind is like a void. She’s not even sure if any of that ever truly happened to her, or if it was merely a long dream, but occasionally she thinks about it and it makes her head hurt. There’s also longing, like she’s missing something terribly. There’s strength that she’s lost, and skills she’s trying to regain, but it’s all for naught and she has to start over. This frustrates her, and she often decides to push those thoughts away all together. What Nuala does remember is waking up in the woods around Era one day, with no belongings and no recollection of what had happened. She’s a grown adult, but she feels as though she has just been born.

She remembers her name but not who gave it to her. She knows what she’s good at, her thievery and other crafts needed for survival, but not how she acquired those skills. Still, she can utilize them and that’s good enough for her. Nuala decides not to pursue her past, not to search for an explanation of the gap in her memory and to focus on the present: she claws her way back into business and quickly figures out how to make careful profit. Nuala has a reputation; one she fosters and grooms with great care. Sometimes, there’s hints of recognition. A familiar place, a friendly face. Things to fill up her lost memory and make sense of her blurry past, but Nuala’s uncertain whether she should act on it or not. For now, she feigns ignorance and focuses on more mundane tasks instead: work, eat, sleep, repeat.
