Poropo's latest goal was to get a place to live and sleep without worrying about fellow vagrants disturbing his much needed respite. The goal would be achieved with more Jewels which means taking more jobs. Poropo's latest job came from a child - being without shame, the monk did not care who paid him as long as he was paid. This job especially felt relaxing - to play a game or two of chess with the employer.

"So how do you play this game?" asked Poropo, pondering the arrangement, shape, and color of the pieces. The child explained in meticulous detail how to play the game of chess and the once-country monk could pick on a thing or two without too much struggle, "Very well, I believe I have all the knowledge I require to win - just because you are a child means nothing to me - I will trounce you, in the name of the Iron Deity."

The child was not phased by Poropo's grandstanding, especially after the monk lost the first game in less than ten turns. Poropo tried again but nothing came of trying a second time either. Again and again Poropo attempted to best the child, but the child was a prodigy and Poropo a beginner, "I feel bamboozled...maybe anther game."

Surprised by Poropo's mental resilience, the child started to talk during the games about his troubles, "...and then there are my two, older brothers. They are far more accomplished than I am and I don't-"

"Well because they are older. You are just a child - you have time to catch them" interrupted the stubborn monk. The child thought about Poropo's words and felt like he needed to reflect some more. The games continued with more talking being exchanged between the monk and the boy. Poropo's age had gathered him some experience in overcoming obstacles through the use of persistence while the child had not quite honed his intelligence despite winning multiple awards.

"Time shapes us all equally - how effectively we use our time is our individual responsib- Ah! NOT MY QUEEN!" The back and forth talking was paired with back and forth chess playing. Poropo felt like he got close every now and again, but the child, Bart Decker, was always many steps ahead. Poropo did not mind as he was beginning to understand the true purpose of his employment - Bart needed someone to talk and share feelings with.

Countless lost games later, the sun was beginning to set and Bart, still a child, had to go home at the request of his parents. Bart still felt the pressure of being a prodigy weighing on him, but talking with the primitive Poropo began opening Bart's mind to emotional problem-solving, "Thank you for playing so many games with me, kind monk."

"My name is Poropo, kind Bart. I appreciate the Jewels you gave me to follow my own goal. Maybe we could play another game - before I get too old to move, hah hah hah!" Poropo and Bart chuckled as they went their separate ways with the day and job being complete.
