Atani

The elf's departure from Fiore had gone long enough. Though she had secretly wished she had stayed longer in the magical forest she called home, there was another home she had to tend to. When she did return... Well, let's just say that things were not how she left them. Some were in shambles, but that didn't mean they were beyond repair. For now though, that would have to wait. She was needed in the south.

You couldn't tell it by looking at what the elf was doing, but she really did have business to do there. It was just simply put off by an attempt to gather some jewels. While she had managed to squirrel plenty away during her stay in Athalran, she knew her supply wouldn't last her forever, not unless she got to work again. Since she was travelling this was doubly important. Though she had no doubt she could stay for free in the Blue Pegasus guild hall if need be, there were other costs to cover.

For example, she wasn't even in Hargeon at the moment. Rather, she was in Myras. Though Atani was not fond of the chill the mountains so often brought with them-- far preferring the warmth Hargeon currently had even in the dead of March-- there was still work to be had there. Unfortunately, what was available was not the most lucrative she had to say. The work she was used to two years ago paid a large sum of jewels and was accompanied by dangerous work. But today? Today, she was finding a lost instrument.

Her client was a citizen of Myras named Hayden. He was a bard by trade. Of course, he would be a pretty sad bard without access to all his instruments. At the moment, he wanted her to search for his lost cittern. He recalled all the places he'd been with it recently, but swore up and down he couldn't find it at all.

Lo and behold, Hayden didn't look hard enough. She had found his cittern in the location he last played the cittern in. Though she did have to admit, it was stowed in a rather unusual place. It was unlikely he put it there himself. It was Atani's deduction that someone, perhaps children who were intrigued by the bard's music, got their hands on the cittern and tried playing it themselves before their parents told them to put it down. Perhaps they even tried to hide it so they would know where to find it again to play when they had time. Unfortunately for them, Atani had to thwart those plans.

She picked up the multi-stringed instrument and carried it back to where she knew Hayden would be. He confirmed that this was indeed his cittern due to the unique design and gave his thanks to the elf in the form of jewels.
