Stalking the dark [conquest] Empty Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:38 pm

Requiem
Requiem hummed as she walked along the streets of Magnolia. Oddly enough, she had never actually been here before. Huh, go figure. The girl would stop at various shops and peruse the wares displayed before moving on. One of the more interesting places she stopped at was a little jewelry store that had lovely, if cheap, earring and necklace sets. She also found a place that sold delicious pastries.

Her inner impulse shopper and sweet tooth appeased, Requiem looked around for her fellow guild member she was supposed to meet. The normally (as far as she remembered) festive atmosphere was gone, replaced by a heavy, somber, overshadowing fear. People stayed inside, only moving quickly in large groups and speaking in hushed tones as they went about their business. Open street stalls were generally left empty, and the ones that were open and selling wares often had a large, heavily armed and armored guard with them.

Apparently, someone in the area was preying on various people, mainly young women though the bodies of a few military age men had been found with similar injuries, and Requiem was to learn from/restrain (somehow) the resident pyrololi of Daeva Eye in the hunt for.... justice....yeaaahhh.... just justice. No other reason. Although she wouldn't feel sorry if the predator were to conveniently disappear forever, the goal of this particular outing was to make Daeva Eye look better than Fairy Tail and undermine the other guild's support base which would be pretty difficult if they needed to dispose of a dead body or several.

She reached the place they were supposed to meet and sat on a nearby bench, swinging her feet and humming as she looked around surreptitiously. She was there to help, not be another victim. Nearby, a pair of guards stood watch, "Didja hear about the one they found last night?"
"Naw, I been tryin' tah not to after Gorden and his girl were found."
"Apparently some punk kid thought he could be a hero. I think they're still scraping what's left of him off the wall of Honeywell Pub."
"Can't say I've heard of the place."

Requiem filed that bit of information away as she memorized as much of the two men as possible for when she and Yumi met up. Hair prickling on the back of her scalp, she casually looked around while pulling out her notebook and wrote her current observations.

Yumi

A pair of crimson red hues, the shade of blood pierced through the darkness of the night, as their owner sat atop the rooftop of the local sweets shop that resided in Magnolia. In the owners right hand was a large rainbow coloured lollipop that was as big as their head. The wielder of the giant loli was a young girl, if only in appearance. She had long black hair that flowed down her back, wore a large wizards hat atop her head, had a skull necklace, a shimmering ring on her left ring finger and a large staff lying beside her. The staff was two metres long and overshadowed the young girl who was barely one and a quarter metres, or four foot ten. She was dressed in a black and red gothic lolita style of dress that was accompanied by many frills. The dress was cut short, leaving the skirt hanging incredibly low revealing much of her inner thighs. The girl wore stockings that rode up to her knees and attached to a black and red garter belt that was proudly on display. On the young girl's feet, she wore black high heel boots that actually added two inches to her height, as her natural height was only four foot eight.

This was Yumi Hateshiginai, better known as the Witch of Carnage, a worshiper of the Demon God Malum. A God who ruled over the abyss and claimed the domains of Destruction, War, Blood and Chaos as his. A powerful Demon God who Yumi had worshipped for over seventy years, as she was older than she appeared having not long had her eightieth birthday. How could she remain so young yet be so old, that was because Yumi was a member of the daemon race. A gift granted to her by the God she worshipped for her undying loyalty to him.

The daemons crimson hues pierced the night as she watched the streets. She was here on a mission as part of the guild she was attached to, Daeva Eye the all-female guild. Yumi had been sent to deal with someone who was attacking random individuals at night and leaving their corpses in the streets. The assault stalked the shadows leaving people afraid to go out and mingle, their identity unknown only increasing the fear the residents felt. Now the daemon wasn't one to care about others, all she cared about was killing and offering sacrifices to Malum so he may grow stronger and one day enter Earthland to bring about the end of days. However, Yumi would perform the task as it would expand Daeva Eye's sphere of influence, and earn her more jewels. Yumi really only cared about the jewels and killing.

But Yumi hand 't been sent alone, another guild member called Requiem had been sent as company to keep an eye on the little daemon. Yumi was known for her destruction tendencies especially with the powerful Napalm Magic she utilised and had a habit of not holding back. Requiem was there to make sure Yumi didn't cause any unnecessary damage and to restrain her if necessary. With a sigh the daemon stood up collecting her staff along the way, it was time to meet up with her guild-mate. Daemon energies flared as wings sprouted from the daemon's back, eat with a wingspan of two metres and appeared leathery in nature, the true sign of a daemon. Accompanying the wings a pair of horns grew on Yumi's head, one horn fro each side and were one metre in length. FInally sporting from the lolita's tailbone and under her skirt was a two metre long black tail with spear tip.

The giant wings flapped and the daemon took flight, appearing on her shoulder was a small red dragon, her companion Mushu. The daemon flew through the night sky, fifteen metres above the ground as she headed to the meeting section. Arriving in the air above it, the daemon spotted her companion seated on a bench waiting for her arrival. Swooping down the daemon landed two metres in front of Requiem in all her demonic glory. Crimson hues glowed blood red as Yumi examined her guild-mate, who was a few inches taller than the daemon herself. Then again most people tended to be taller than Yumi.

"Requiem, a pleasure to see you." The daemon spoke in a soft, sweet and angelic tone that didn't match her current appearance. Her voice sounded sultry by nature and her gaze itself could be called hypnotic. The daemon showed a sweet smile on her supply purple lips. "So I hear you'll be keeping me in check while we take over Magnolia. Is Kaiser that worried I'll burn the town down. Hahaha!" Yumi said in a joking manner before she laughed softly, it was like music to the ears.

"Pfft knowing you, you would burn the entire town down you, little psycho!" Mushu spoke up from upon Yumi's shoulders as he stared at the daemon. It was clear he didn't trust her words, knowing what she was like.

Spoiler:

A hustling, bustling locale usually, the streets of Magnolia currently seem subdued and suspicious as talk of mysterious and malevolent events grip the townsfolk and leave them afraid and paranoid. Apparently random attacks have been occurring upon them as a mysterious assailant seems to stalk the shadows at night, leaving the people afraid to go out and mingle, especially when they don’t know who or what is causing this. The overall impact affecting morale and the merchants of the town seeming to be moving to other, safer spots, one might bring good cheer back to the streets by finding and taking care of whatever fiend is causing these problems, and also earn the favour of the locals while doing so…

Requiem
Old Requiem would never have joined with a demon. Old Requiem would've died trying to pick a fight with a demon well above her weight class. New Requiem, however, had a broken moral compass barely held together simply by the nature of her magic. She also found Yumi's voice slightly hypnotic and pleasantly melodious.

New Requiem clapped politely for Yumi as she landed while standing up, "Yep, I think she said something about deciding between fixing everything again and having a spa day in the budget this month." The younger member of the guild hadn't been privy to most of those meeting, but from what she had heard Yumi's.....antics.... tended to cause more problems than they solved when it came to delicate situations.

Requiem glanced around to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything. Dressed in her usual gear, hunter's coat, dagger strapped to her left inner forearm, and her hair tied back and tucked into the collar of her coat. Pocketing the notebook she turned back to Yumi, "so a couple things I learned when I was waiting, one, most of the victims were women ages twelve to twenty-three. Two, six men ages seventeen to thirty were also killed in the same manner as the women that were found. Well, make that seven" she gestured to where the guards had left before Yumi's arrival, "someone tried their hand at this and got painted all over the wall at a place called Honeywell Pub. It's a break in the pattern though, this is the first body that wasn't more or less intact or near another victim."

That somewhat concerned the young huntswoman. The men who had been killed previously were always ner the female victim, this particular kill seemed well outside the usual MO though..... Requiem realized she had started pacing and quickly stopped and turned to face Yumi with a sheepish grin, "sorry, this is my first time." Requiem wondered if this was a sign of fear effect or if this was just a simple case of nerves.

Yumi

"Perhaps the solution is to draw our prey out with some bait." The daemon licked her lips in anticipation, a flicker of blood lust was revealed in those demon hues. The daemon stood there in all her glory having yet to revert to her human form, having decided to remain in her true form for the period of the mission. "I wouldn't mind playing the damsel in distress, but my reputation complicates things. It is hard to pretend to be the bait when most are well aware of your strengths." Commented the daemon with a sadistic smile.

Yumi's reputation was quite known throughout fiore as the Witch of Carnage. She had left nothing but a trail of bodies across the land in the last seventy years, leaving behind countless corpses as she sacrificed an unimaginable number of people to her god. Yumi's vicious nature was well known and people tended to flee when they saw her. Yumi could no longer act like the innocent young girl her appearance depicted as people would quickly realise who she was and run for their lives, for fear of getting on her nerves and ending up dead.

"Perhaps you would be willing to act the bait while I wait in the shadows? Draw out our target, and once their guard is down, burn them to a crisp!" Offered up the daemon, revealing a sweet yet vicious smile that didn't seem right on her young features. The daemon's wings flapped in excitement at the thought of torturing her prey, burning them alive, slowly until they were nothing but a charred corpse. The agonising screams of her prey often filled the daemon with glee.

Requiem
Requiem nodded, "I can do that." She glanced down at her clothes, "first things first though, I probably shouldn't look like I'm ready to fight."

A quick stop at a still open dress store and a change later, Requiem looked like a common peasant girl. A simple grey dress with a lavender bodice with black pants underneath in case she needed to rip the bottom half off. Her dagger was tucked under the left side of her bodice as a just in case measure before taking her stuff and arranging it in a basket as if she had been out shopping for the day.

Turns out, pretending to be a frightened peasant came all too easily to her. As she walked down the street, jumping at sudden sounds, memories that she had done her best to forget rose up. Her breathing hitched several times as she tried to block out her childhood with the cult. The back of her neck prickled as she walked past yet another darkened alley. She glanced towards it as fear swelled within her forming a pit in her stomach despite mentally telling herself things were working.

She hated feeling vulnerable and was starting to regret not trying to talk Kaiser into letter her and Yumi go wild. Although that would probably defeat the point but, "who's there?" She turned to where her instincts told her something wasn't right. Silence....

Requiem slowly turned back around and kept walking. Sooner or later this bastard would either show up, or Requiem was pretty sure she'd end up throwing her magic around like a lunatic. I really hope Yumi finds this person and turns them into charcoal.

Yumi

Yumi revealed a vicious smirk to her young companion's words. Wings spread wide as the daemon prepared to take flight in order to watch over Requiem from above. Kaiser would not be pleased if Yumi allowed the new girl to get hurt. The daemon would have to be careful when hunting her new prey tonight so as not to engulf Requiem in the devouring flames of her Napalm Magic. The magic Yumi used was incredibly and potent, it wasn't one to be used when near allies as they would be engulfed by the devouring blaze along with Yumi's enemies.

Giant wings flapped creating a gust of wind as the daemon flew up off the ground and into the air. Yumi would quickly rise up into the night sky using the shadows of night to keep her concealed. It was a perk of being a high-level guild member of Daeva Eye, once a certain level had been reached in order for people to even see you they'd have to concentrate. Yumi could effectively hide during the night under the cover of darkness to keep a watchful eye on Requiem while the young woman walked through the streets in her newly bought peasant attire.

The night began to pass as Requiem wandered the streets acting scared and jumping at every shadow. Yumi landed on a nearby building top, standing on the edge. Crimson hues scanned the night and narrowed dangerously as a bloodlust reflected within them. For some time now, Yumi had been following requiem but she wasn't the only one. Yumi had picked up movements in the shadows as someone or something stalked the 'peasant' woman, following her into the dark secluded areas of the Magnolia Streets.

A vicious smirk formed on the daemon's lips as she shot forward wings expanding wide. The daemon picked up speed as she headed straight for the shadow following Requiem. The staff on Yumi's back was drawn as she thrust it forward like a spear. The blazing staff cut through the air and crashed into the cobblestone streets as the shadow stepped back. The ground exploded into debris as stone was sent flying in every direction from the impact. With a maniacal laugh, the daemon turned to face her foe. The moonlight illuminated their form as that of a young man with a rat face wielding a black dagger in his right hand.

Yumi had her back to Requiem, not paying attention to her guild-mate after all the daemon was now in the battle-zone. laughing crazily the Daemon unleashed the full might of her fear. The eyes of the skull necklace she wore lit up as a powerful daemon fear was unleashed over a twenty-five-metre radius. Yumi laughed and lunged forward towards the rat-faced youth who retreated back wanting to get away from the daemon. The daemon snorted and thrust her staff forward, holding it in her right hand she thrust it out like a spear. A large magical circle appeared at the tip of the staff as the sound of a loud bird cry filled the night.

The temperature began to rise, growing exponentially as shadows were swept away. A great light erupted from the seal as flames roared forward, bursting to life. Crimson fire poured out from the magical circle filling the night sky in front of Yumi. The flames created a large amount of light transformed the night to day. The sheer heat radiating from the crimson flames melted the surrounding stone as the red flames took the shape of a giant phoenix. The phoenix spread its wings as its flames consumed a sixteen-metre radius in front of Yumi. With a loud cry, the phoenix dove towards the rat-faced man and engulfed him in its flames.

The rat-faced man jumped up out of the flames his body covered in heavy burns as smoke trailed off his flesh. He lunged towards Yumi having taken the risk of charging through the wall of flames to attack her directly. Snorting in amusement the daemon exhaled creating a magical circle right in the man's face. Fire erupted violently from the seal as an ocean of flames larger than the last was unleashed. The rat-faced man didn't even have a chance to scream as he was incinerated and turned into a charred corpse from the overwhelming might of Yumi's flames. An ocean of fire with a radius of thirty-two metres was unleashed. Flames roared engulfing everything in front of Yumi tearing apart buildings and the street as they poured forth.

Everything before Yumi was transformed into pure destruction as the flames tore the Magnolia streets apart. A deep and wide trench was created by the flames that spanned such a huge width and area that they were almost impossible to avoid. Nothing was safe as the flames poured through the streets reaching their end and disappeared. Nothing but rubble was left behind as the daemon smirked as the sight of the blackened corpse that lay at her feet.

"What a foolish little man. My flames burn all! None can escape their wrath!" Yumi laughed maniacally as she lifted a foot and stomped down on the charred corpse. Yumi's foot crashed through the chest as the body broke apart into ash.

Requiem
She was halfway turned when she heard it all go down. The explosive flames, the heat, the wind, all of which caused her to get the barest flash of the rat faced man before he was consumed by the raging inferno that was Yumi's magic. I....really hope there wasn't anyone else in that line of fire. At least when the flames finally died down and she followed Yumi, there didn't seem to be any sign of collateral deaths. Ignoring the elder sister's gloating over the charred corpse, Requiem's investigation training kicked in and she studied what was left, "dagger, black metal, seemingly undamaged despite being deep fried like the wielder." She pulled her own dagger out and a piece of cloth to wrap the strange thing up in, "oddly cool to the touch, covered in soot. Possibly some writing on the blade?" She made a mental note to- oh shit! She hastily stepped off to the side and threw her armor on. Terrible fit over top the upper part of her dress but considering that the town guards were starting to arrive she would have to deal for now.

Turning her attention back to Yumi finally, she bit her lip as while carefully considering her next words, "I think it would be best if you weren't around for the guards to arrest when they see....this." she gestured at the damaged street, "I.... I'll think of something. The guy came at me with magic and it backfired." Requiem nodded, "that would probably go over better than them recognizing you and throwing us in jail." Already she could envision the horror of all the paperwork involved even if they managed to deceive the guards to the true cause of the damage.

Yumi

The daemon gave a snort out of mild amusement at the young girl's actions as she retrieved a dagger from the pile of ash. The blade didn't really matter to the mage who had lived for many decades. All Yumi cared about was that the job had been completed, regardless of the surrounding destruction that had been brought from her actions. Destruction and Mayhem, were all part of Yumi's being, to cause chaos was one of her utmost desires. Crimson hues narrowed as the young girl threw on her armour as the sound of clanking armour could be heard. Whistles blew and voices shouted as the town guards were beginning to arrive at the source of the sudden disturbance. It was only natural that they would arrive when a giant tower of fire erupted violently in their town.

"Hmp I fear no mere guards, especially mortal ones. But I don't think Kaiser wouldn't be too pleased if I was to go on a rampage." Mused the daemon with a sour look on her young features, while she wanted to tear the guards apart and burn down the town, it would be counterproductive to their objective. The wings of the elderly daemon expanded and flapped as she began to take flight.

"It seems I'll have to leave the matter at hand up to you, Requiem. Do return swiftly to the guild, or take your time with them I'm sure Kaiser won't mind either way." The lolita smiled viciously giving her comrade a little flirty wink before flying off into the darkness away from the direction fo the guards. The daemon would retreat, for now, but next time she wouldn't be so kind as to retreat. Most likely the next encounter she had there would no doubt be a bloodbath that followed. After all it was in Yumi's nature to cause nothing but destruction wherever she went leaving nothing but a trail of bodies and a pool of blood in her wake.

Requiem
Requiem watched as Yumi left before glancing back at the corpse. She wasn't sure if any of the contacts from the RK were still good, but it probably wouldn't hurt to at least check. She considered her options as the guards arrived and started their business, "you alright miss?" An older man with what had to be the most expensive mustache walked up to her. Next to him was another man in robes, mage, probably telepathy or empathy magic. Maybe something else that would allow to detect mistruths . That might complicate things if it were the case. Carefully layering her thoughts, she nodded, "It was nothing major, the guy came at me and I guess whatever magic he was using backfired." Strictly speaking it was true, she never did see the actual attack or the spell being cast. Only the results.

Mustache Guard glanced at his partner, who made a subtle gesture as the men relaxed, "So asking what happened would be pointless. Alright just follow my finger. And again. Alright, there's some paperwork you'll need to fill out but it seems pretty open and shut."

One trip to the station later and reexplaining everything to the captain there, she finished the last of the paper work required, "So, anything else or am I good to go?"
"Ah... let's see....all that's left is verifying your guild. Daeva Eye correct?"
"Yes."
The captain nodded to himself, "I'm not going to lie, when I first heard of you, I was...suspicious of what it stood for. Still, if your guild master is willing to help everyone regardless it's OK in my book."

Requiem smiled, "be sure to spread our great name" she laughed as she headed home.
