The wind howled along the way, all but threatening to send Alisa's hat flying right off. Unlike the warm but mellow late summer days they'd been getting, today had been windy through and through, bordering on stormy. In spite of out somewhat sunny, in a way that Alisa almost considered the wind would help keep her temperature down all the way through her morning run. It did, but then, she wound up not needing it at all. Tight but fresh, her choice of clothes aimed at protecting her against the strong winds in front and searing sun overhead, a difficult balance to achieve, but that didn't really stop her from trying: Tight sporting shorts and fully zipped track jacket, protecting her upper body while keeping her long, shapely legs cool through the stenuous physical exercise.

That said, keeping her body heat from rising too far meant increasing that of onlookers - mostly men but still quite a few women - turning heads and following her every movement as she walked past them. There weren't too many of them though, not when Alisa, a natural early riser, had gotten up especially early today, when the morning dew yet dotted leaves and a thin veil of mist cloaked the horizon; the cool air turning her warm breath into small puffs of condensation with every breath exhaled. She still kept a surprisingly steady control over it though, despite having been running around Hargeon for a good few, since the sun started rising from the horizon.

As it trailed higher and higher towards its zenith, the heat too got harder and harder to bear, to the point even the strong winds hardly managed to keep the exercising Alisa well and truly cool. The hated shaded her eyes from against the light, certainly, yet did nothing to stop the puddling sweat from trailing down her face and legs, and leaving her upper body almost completely drenched, with deep, dark stains on her jacket. Thankfully, she'd worn a swimsuit under it. Sure, she didn't really plan on using said swimsuit as a not so creative way of dealing with a sweaty body, but rather she honestly expected to take a dip in the pool after she was done running...

"...Not yet though...", she thought out loud to herself inbetween panting breaths, such a strong burn coursing through her legs she could barely feel them at all. Alas, she was used to this feeling, she could still run for hours even past the point she stopped feeling her legs, like any good marathon runner.

Her training was far from over, after all, she only get so far with physical attributes alone... In more ways that one. More so than equipment or the sword she'd broken and had yet to replace, she needed spells. More, new and stronger spells that could save her hide in a pinch, even against opponents she couldn't beat. Survival was paramount, at least until she had fulfilled her quest: The dead can't avenge anybody.

Yet this time, she had a whole other reason for this dire need for spells. Something in the air at night worried her, and even though she didn't yet know what, she had a strong, nudging suspicion that eerie things were happening, and would only start happening more and more as time went on. As they neared Halloween, the night life would steadily get livelier...

No, not in the sense of drunk people like herself and the lovely Xandra had done not so long ago, but rather spirits and other supernatural beings...

No more than few days ago had she dealt with not one but two of those encounters, and thankfully neither of them involved hurting the spirits themselves. They settled for a measure of closure from whatever unfinished businesses they had left to deal with in life, and meredly crossed over peacefully to the other side. But she couldn't really expect all of them to give her so little trouble - quite the opposite - as her memories of last year so vividly reminded her. Then agaim, Alisa didn't know what would truly let her deal with them, a kind of trump card that would never fail... Such a thing probabaly didn't exist at all, but then, a good way of dealing with sneaky monsters simply revolves around posessing unexpected ways to see them coming. And that, that she knew how to do. Though she didn't really have a spell for it yet, she'd known the right way of knowing about it for years now, probably from the very first moment she successfully cast crystal magic. Crystals, by their very nature, proved sensitive to vibration - perhaps too receptive even - leaving them vulnerable to earthquakes, sound, and a myriad other rumbling forces that could shake them apart without much trouble. In the end their greatest strength - hardness - could eventually turn into their greatest weakness as one exploited their inability to bend even the slightest amount to absorb some energy from the impact with an opposing force.

Natrually, the harder and tougher the crystal - as a natural result of the amount of mana their sculptress poured into it - the harder shaking them apart became, ultimately rendering it impossible for all but the most powerful of people or magics...

But that didn't make them any less receptive to vibration, and thus, right here, right now, Alisa plotted a way of using that in her favor. Even with the misty haze shrouding a great deal of the sunglight - if none of its humid heat - the dark haired woman still got her way around Hargeon easily enough, as expected of someone who was pretty much a natural, a mage of the city's pride of joy, the guild Blue Pegasus. Her destination? Pegasus' guild hall exactly... While she originally planned on leaving Hargeon before the construction crew was finished with its job, she had to deal with Snowflake's election, and the Pegasus' Beach party, and wound up staying at that hotel longer than she expected.

Not all was bad, after all she wound up meeting someone she could hardly stop thinking about, a beautiful and charming blonde Knight who made the usually cool artist act like a different person altogether... Hopefully she hadn't allowed this different side of her to screw things up all together... It presented another reason for her to better herself, after acknowledging the woman's drive and passion, her unyielding desire to become stronger. Thus Alisa could hardly show her face to Xandra if she didn't get stronger by the next time they met up. Much, much stronger...

Finally, she arrived at the Guild Hall. Just like before, the training hall was being left for last, due to the sheer amount of magical wards it needed to function, the likes of which mere construction workers had no chance of meddling with. That didn't stop said construction workers from repairing some of the walls, even if they they didn't put on windows, lighting, or even clean the whole mess of dust inside. Hell, even some of the crystals from Alisa's last training session yet lingered, a clear proof that nobody but her had been using this training room in the past few days. Where were Finn, Chel and Snow doing their respective trainings then? She was pretty sure they were still training, that's the kind of people they were... But then, where...?

No matter, she'd ask them all later. After all, she didn't even walk inside the training hall right away. Instead, the moment she entered the estate, she found the pleasantly floral, salt tinted scent of the streets of Hargeon replaced by that of bricks, stone, and construction materials. The low, delightful melody of early birds overwhelmed by banging sledgehammers and rumbling jackhammers as her brisk jog settled into a calmer run, enough so that she could take the liberty of unzipping her jacket half way, revealing the striped swumsuit underneath as she released some of the sultry, sweaty heat out into the air, not unlike the faint, steamy puffs of condensation in front of her mouth with every breath.

Of course, she could soon hear something else other than construction work: The catcalls.

She didn't even found them particularly annoying, after all, Alisa true trigger was unwanted proximity, people could say whatever they wanted about her at a distance and she'd just shrug it off... In this particular case, moving people actually proved convenient to her. Slowing down the pace of her run to a point even the poor binding of her bosom didn't really disrupt her pace, she took a deep, relaxed breath and steadied her aura, channeling her magic power. She aimed not to concentrate and shape it into a spell, but instead evenly distribute it throughout her body, spreading it around evenly over her skin and clothes.

This was the easy part...

All she had to do was stay calm for was perfectly capable of molding this amount of magic power, especially when she didn't release it outside her body...

Very slowly, her smooth, sweat glazed alabaster skin acquired a crystalline sheen, enough to replace even the relentless wolf whistles from the construction guys with astonished 'oooh's and 'whoa's. Indeed, she liked that reaction a lot better, but then again this wasn't about her audience, but rather herself. She got stronger for herself first, for her drives and not so much other people's awe. That helped (quite a lot actually) though she'd never go so far as calling it her main priority.

Once she had partially crystallized herself, the change in sensitivity was immediate, enough to make her wince. She already had sensitive skin, a highly receptive sense of touch to begin with, but actually going as far as employing it in combat required a level of skill she had yet to attain. And once activating this spell, even her clothes didn't dampen her sense of touch, literally allowing her to feel sound instead of just hear it. The loud vibrations from the construction tools almost overwhelmed her, sturning her calm, relaxed jog into a tense, strained effort...

Breathe in...

Breathe out...

Controlling her breath worked wonders however, until she got a hand of this spell well enough to wield it as easily as breathing. In the end, this was simply a spell, one she herself had created. Being her magic, she had a greater control over it than anybody else. In battle, she didn't need to sense anything this well, nor would it prove beneficial to her. Quite the opposite, a clever opponent could somewhat easily use this sensitivity against her by shooting their most powerful spells into the ground, resulting in more harm than good. But as she tuned out the consistent, repetitive background noise - weeding it out based on overbearing strength and repetitive patterns - she found everything else grew progressively easier to sense.

With every step, she confirmed how the ground proved an excellent medium for transmitting vibrations, so much she always had a pretty good idea of its shape and size in her immediate surroundings. Despite having only somewhat soft, grassy ground under her feet, she could feel each and every step people took nearby. Hell, if she wanted, she could actually close her eyes and rely on this sense to avoid obstacles...! It even worked against static obstacles once they close enough to her body, as she could simply focus on those vibrations she herself emmited and feel them as they travelled back to her, which could give her an even better idea if she managed to read through both inputs. It wasn't easy, but felt very much like trying to hear different sounds among a wild cacophony...

Not impossible, but required a great deal of focus that might not be easy to achieve in a split second, do or die moment in the heat of battle.

But it was a reliable sensory spell, something good enough for her to work with. Now, sensing vibrations through the air proved harder, much harder than doing it on the ground...

Alisa could somewhat sense if people were moving, better if they did it close to her, and worse the slower they moved. It became virtually impossible to pull it off if they were standing still, somewhat less so if they were screaming and shouting... But it still wasn't something she'd effectively rely on.

Meanwhile, she kept running slow laps around the complex, her poorly bound chest bouncing up and down in a mesmerizing motion that often kept the more perverted workers' heads bobbing up and down. Soon enough, she'd moved sufficiently away from the worst of the work that she could no longer hear the otherwise deafening power tools, allowing her to make far more sense about whichever other sensory input she recieved with her new spell.
The workers around here were moving a good bit slower though - some weren't moving at all - and though whatever vibration she felt gave a her a basic idea where they stood, at least, where their feet were.

It wasn't enough though. If her enemies could fly, worse, if she herself were forced into the air, she'd be unable to rely on ground transmitted vibrations. How...? Just how could she make this spell more reliable, something that might help her against beings who didn't really need to keep their feet on the ground? Maybe if she... Yeah, she could go with that:

"Hmmmm....", hummed Alisa, half having an idea and half simply pondering whether it might actually work... But in this case, merely humming did the trick, courtesy of a mostly silent envoiroment... For now anyway.

Yet as her consistent humming sound made its way through the air, Alisa sound found herself hearing it again... From specific angles, such as the wall next to her and the two construction workers lazing about to her right, her sound bounced right back to her and revealed their position: Echolocation. Of course, this only worked on targets near her, much closer than the maximum range she could normally sense vibrations from. After all, she was emitting vibrations herself and awaiting for them to bounce back to her... Sure they were fast; as one would expect sound to be, but not particularly intense. Maybe if she were to cry out louder she could recieve a better, more readable input?

Who knows... She should defenitely maintain a consistant, recognizable pattern so she could distinguish her own vibrations from those of her opponents.

For the time being, however, she had achieved a sufficient mastery over her new spell, understanding the best ways to emit and interpret what vibrations she felt on her sweat slicked, crystal gleamed skin... This might be the most complex piece of magic she'd ever worked into reality from a simple idea in her brain, but a single, simple spell just wouldn't cut it. She needed more to combo with this, and exploit whatever opening she could create. But mostly, she needed to defend herself.

Alisa gradually slowed down her pace until her run became a simple, hasty walk, stepping inside the training room from the outside, something only possible as a courtesy of the missing windows. She breathed in deeply, noting how unlike last time, the room actually smelled like fresh varnish and paint, as opposed to dust and rubble...

The training dummies were there too, as always.

Good old, reliable training dummies... Except today, she wouldn't really be throwing any spells at them. No, she needed another defensive spell, bigger and stronger, something that could possibly stop a mighty S-rank spell flung by someone stronger than her. Thankfully, when it came to defensive spells, she never had to think too hard. Alisa brushed a few wet strands of hair away from her face, unzipping her jacket further, all but completely exposing the blue swimsuit underneath, challenging her mana even as she did so.

The very nature of crystals gave way to powerful defenses, making those the most easily created spells she could come up with. She wove the mana into her arms, focusing it on her right one, then channeling it further until it pooled into one hand. Easily done as she focused on what she wanted to achieve with it, and she hardly required any extra effort at all. Now, to actually produce the spell?

That still required a mental image. Looking at her hand as if she could see the mana coursing around her clenched fist, she assessed what she might create with this. She had just about enough power for a big, A-rank level shield, something thick and strong, capable of stopping whatever shennanigans her foes shot her way. A wall of pure, raw diamond, that only the strongest attacks could ever dream of breaking down into splinters. With that image firmly rooted in her mind, Alisa looked at the training dummies - picturing an enemy shooting a spell at her - narrowed her eyes, then raised her palm in its direction.

Crackle

With a crystallizing sound, a large, colossal wall of diamond hastily grew out in front of her, from the point where her hands stood, and fanning out in all directions, until an eight meter wide wall of glimmering diamond stood between herself and a potential foe. Bewtched by its shimmering beauty, Alisa stood transfixed by the odd light show as even the faintest gleam of sunlight piercing through the misty shroud easily created a dazzling display, beaming off brilliantly in every direction...

She must have admired her own creation for quite a few minutes, and halfway through it even gotten lost in her own reflection, moving one hand to her wet, sweat slicked chest, then slowly shifting one knee slightly inwards - all but striking a pose for her own viewing pleasure and nobody else's. Well, nothing stopped some of the idle constuction guys from peering into the training room, but as she was right now, Alisa would probably just miss it without much trouble. Such was the extent of her vanity...

WORDS: 3520 | TAG: @solo | CLOTHES

Truly, this might not be the most stylish of outfits she'd ever worn, but when working out she favored a practical, comfortable attire, cozy against her skin and easy to move around it. That said, this one had no shortage of sex appeal, her long socks, tight shorts and unzipped jacket accentuating her legs, hips and breasts respectively, and that overflowing sensuality resulted in her recieving the same amount of attention she always did, if not more so. She brought one arm under her bust and turned slightly to the side, appreciating her supple curves until a confident smile pierced through her tired expression...

It took Alisa a good while to remember she was here to train this gorgeous diamond mirror in front of it, not simply admire her reflection on it. Fortunately, such distractions were the only breaks she'd unconsciously allow herself, well earned pauses after the thoroughly intense workout she'd been carrying out since she stepped out of bed.

"Maybe I can make it either transparent or reflective just as easily...?", she wondered, crooking an eyebrow as one hand moved up to her chin.

This might almost seem beside the point, but it really wasn't, not when Alisa had complete control of whether or not she allowed her foe's to see her after she cast her spell.

Even more important than this, was ensuring the adamantine Aegis' defensive abilities measured up to the power she pumped into them. Sure, her magic was art, she knew that better than anyone. But as a form of art that needed usability in combat, its funcionality mattered even more than its beauty. But then, as useful as these training dummies may be, none of them had any abilities to shoot spells at her. Last time, she tested her own spells against the defense, but this time around she didn't really have any offensive abilities capable of denting a shield like this: It might not even be as strong as she expected, and she'd still likely be unable to properly damage it.

Brimming with curiosity, she started walking closer to her Aegis, only a hint of regret on her face for what she was about to do.

Curiosity over hers and her spells's power... Regret for shattering it into pieces. But she didn't really have a choice, as she'd rather find this out for herself than wait for an enemy to reveal its strengths and weaknesses for her. Clenching her fist as she stood slightly over a meter, she stepped in and thrust her body sideways, "CHAAAAA!!", in a sudden, explosive shift of her hips, putting all of her weight behind a full power right punch, hitting her freshly cast spell, aiming right where her own reflected face stood.

Crack...!

Her reflection shattered and split into dozens of them, the myriad of cracks dividing it into several smaller mirrors. Her hand hurt... But her shield stood true, having endured the full brunt of her physical force.

That didn't stop the crackling rifts from spreading across the whole width of the construct, radiating outwards until they reached the very edges... And at that moment, it shattered. Alisa's eyes widened in surprised disappointment, having only a split second to close her eyes and raise on forearm over her face, protecting herself from the hail of glassy shards that soon rained upon them. Except, this wasn't really an offensive spell, so even sharp crystalline fragments such as these barely did anymore than slightly scratch her a little bit, not even drawing any blood to show for. They just shattered yet again - into dust this time - at the slightest impact with her soft skin.

Alisa sighed with disappointment, opening her eyes with little a hope left in them, even if she still kept all that power focused in her hand, sustaining her shield as if such a thing were necessary.

And unexpectedly found her Aegis had indeed survived her onslaught, only it was smaller now: Instead of eight meters tall, all she had left was a seemingly pristine, two meter tall kite shield, as smooth and radiant as the original creation had been. Such a sight filled her with joy and realization, a sense of pride at having realized her desires through her power, a magic with the beauty to rival her own.

Now if her spell was indeed as viable as it appeared, it should not only have the toughness to block one of Alisa's punches, but an offensive spell boasting the same amount of mana on top of it. It should shatter completely in teh attempt, but allow none of its damage to get throught to its caster. Now the problem was, this was one of those experiments that could only be carried out by actually standing in the path of a powerful spell, ideally with Alisa herself in its range, standing behind the shield.

The very reason she was training laid there, to know how her potential spells would behave in the battle against an opponent as strong as herself, possibly even stronger...

If she couldn't take this risk in a controlled training envoiroment like this one, however could she expect herself to do it once she'd taken off the safety net?

Then again, she also needed an offensive spell powerful enough for the experiment, which she just so happened to currently lack. But what could it be? At this level, she could pull off massive explosions if she wanted to, but that would limit her to using the spell once before it went on cooldown. If she channeled mana and released it sparingly, she could employ the same spell over and over.

"Why not both...?", she wondered to herself, imagining a large spell that could shoot out shrapnel in every direction, and another that should shoot them out forward on a smaller scale, but easier to shoot over and over so long as she had mana. Well, she had to start somewhere so might as well begin with the big one...

So, a big spell she could cast once and be done with it. First off, she had to consider how to shoot it. From her own body, or from a point away from it? From a projectile, or simply make the focal point appear elsewhere? As a true elementalist, her spells weren't confined to coming from her body like those of a slayer. Ideally, she'd want to try and exploit this advantage to its fullest, as she lacked any ability to eat enemy spells or actually transform into something else. Sure, her Vajradeha transformed her, yet this didn't really make her any stronger, it simply allowed to touch her spell without wounding herself, a crucial necessity when dealing with all that power...

Then, creating an explosion of sharpnel at a distance? That would work nicely, but what kind of damage did she want? At this level, even concussive damage might shatter bones, but even sharp shrapnel could knock opponents back wiht sheer impact force, just lessening the need for blunt damage. The density of the crystal she used and how finely draw the lines it would shatter from would ultimately influence this damage. Minute fragments would deal piercing damage, while sharp, larger fragments - while still able to pierce - would deal mostly cutting damage, wreaking havoc on any internal organs that came across.

This spell should have no shortage of killing power once she made it a reality, and even in disadvantageous fights Alisa could use the threat of a glassy death to make a quick escape, using her uncany speed. She had no intention of revealing all her cards, or worse, dying, before she had a chance to complete her goal. Meaning until then, surival was paramount. Now to start creating the spell...

If Alisa imagined a shattering blast away from her body, then she'd have to stand further than five meters away from the focal point, or more, if she wanted to avoid getting hit by it. For this purpose, she swiped and moved her left hand around, moving what remained of her Aegis about two and half meters away from her. Alright, she could work with this distance... The challenge remained, however, create a brand new spell while preoccupied with sustaining another new spell that was just as powerful, even if its exact opposite in purpose.

Breath and focus, like always, held the key to success.

So with slow, deep breaths, she kept the channeled mana tied to one hand, while coursing an equal amount of power into her idle right hand. If she could name one advantage of doing things this way, was she could perfectly compare and match the mana for her new spell with the one she had for her sustained defense, ensuring that,  at the very least, the two spells should be equals in magic power. This ruled out one factor once she came down to to correcting and perfecting the two, ensuring she'd have only efficiency as the sole remaining reason as to why would one be stronger than the other.

It took about a few minutes of feeling the potency in both hands, the oddly weightless, but heavy feeling of all that concentrated mana, until she was satisfied that both were well and truly equal, "Alright, this works... This balance is good enough.", she mumbled, clenching both fists, a mnemonic gesture more than anything, one her body and mind already associated with ncentration and helped her keep that power steady, and leakage to a bare minimum.

One power had been gathered, it needed form, will, intent. All of those three were one and the same as far as magic was concerned, and Alisa envisioned it as a small crystal, so unstably tight and compressed it would detonate the very moment it became reality, without warning or heads up in any kind save for Alisa's own casting gesture. If she could conceal it from her opponents, this left very little chance for them to see it coming at nearly point blank range. With this in mind, the time for testing had arrived. Opening her right palm, Alisa instantly associated that gesture with the releasing of all that compressed mana, at that point she had designated before.

And she couldn't even see it, the crystal she created at that position immediately shone with glimmering, violet tinted white light, for less

than even a split second, before detontating with a loud, almost deafening shatter.

CRASH!

Even its caster had no choice but to flinch, ducking behind what remained of the shield even though she'd cleverly placed outside the resulting

blast radius, all but hearing those flying shrapnel hitting her Aegis and completely shattering it into pieces. However, she did verify none of them managed to get through the shield - even if they destroyed it - ultimately proving its effectiveness as a defensive spell, but also the new spell's offensive prowess. Between the two of them, she now had a relentless offense capable of ripping through soft tissue, as well as a defense strong enough to ensure twice as much as its power. Yeah, she could go with this.

However, as Alisa assessed the damage, she couldn't help but notice something strange. Indeed the ground was riddled with tiny crystal shards, the same pure adamantine white from the shield she'd just destroyed. But every piece of crystal on the ground belonged to that Aegis. And what about the explosive one? Simple. Her plush lips formed into an 'O' as she admired her handiwork with a look of pure awe. The fragmented shrapnel didn't simply drop down to the ground, but rather, hovered in mid air, all but orbitting around the explosion's focal point.

"What is this...?", she thought loud, wondering what kind of effect she might have wished for that may have resulted in this mysterious, yet fascinating after effect, "I didn't even..."

But she couldn't think of any... Perhaps if she kept on testing its properties, she could find out? Hopefully... She had no doubt this effect had manifested itself out of nowhere, lacking any an influence on its caster's part.

Well, she didn't know how long this effect would still hold, but she expected it couldn't be too long: After all, she wasn't really sustaining the spell, and for all she knew the crystals floated courtesy of the sheer amount of mana put into the initial casting, and nothing else. At this rate, they'd fall right down and crumble to dust in a couple of moments. So, if she had any ideas - any at all - as to why she may have unconsciously triggered this effect, she had but a few seconds to start guessing. Frowning, her mind got hard at work trying to figure it out, coming up with a myriad of theories in little over a split second.

Theories were all fine and dandy though, but they meant nothing unless she had a way of testing them, no matter how limited it may be. For this reason, she started channeling mana into her left hand once again, as she had now freed it from the burden of carrying the shield spell around. She hastily repositioned her body too, moving in a way such that left the floating stones between herself and the training dummy. To an onlooker, it would appear as if even though her brain was still thinking about what to do next, her body already knew the answer; like the good, well trained martial artist she was, her instincts were paramount.

Something that could both harness the floating crystals, as well as be shot at opponents time and time again, as many shots as she needed until they stopped moving. The key here was sustainability. But small spells could likely never interact with the envoiroment in such a way, so ultimately whichever option she went with required the biggest, flashiest spell she could pull off without breaking this sustainability.

The solution came to her the moment she saw her crystals slowing down their lackadaisical orbit, alongside a fresh realization that what every she did would have to be done fast, or else she'd never have a chance to try it out

"HAAAH!!", with  loud cry, she thrust her left palm forward, conjuring a light pink magic circle from which a myriad of crystals exploded outwards, fanning out into a conic tornado of whirling shrapnel.

Not unlike the Floating Stones spell she tried out before, this one also created a big, heavy enough impact that she'd no doubt any enemies caught within could also find themselves unceremoniously flung forward in a stormy path of slicing crystals. The training dummy defenitely didn't stand a chance, not when the floating crystals from the previous spell got sucked into the rotating vortex, all but slashing it to ribbond and all but blowing a hole through the freshly repaired walls of the training room.

Oops...

Alisa winced slightly at the sight of her own destruction and the frustrated ranting of the construction workers outside, a fresh reminder that even though the wards may be intact - as proved by the training dummy putting itself back together - the training room itself had yet to reach its former, magic powered indestructibility for which it was normally used.

Seeing this though... The destruction caused by her spell before the Floatstones faded all but spoke to her, telling Alisa just why she had instinctively caused them to hover around aimlessly in the first place. Really, it seemed almost pointless when one looked at it at first, especially when she realized they wouldn't really do so for more than a few seconds. Once she fired that second spell though, that rotating, diamond storm of death, all of it made sense. Combos huh... It took her a while to realize the floatstone's aftereffect could massively strengthen the first casting of her next spell, if said spell was one the likes of which Alisa had in mind.

The Crystals hovering anywhere near the path of her first spell got sucked into the vortex, which would allow it to strike her enemies faster than it normally might. The difference wasn't that huge, but in a fast paced battle, even a slight edge could spell the difference between victory or defeat.

She could have probably tried it out again, but she knew a spell like her Floatstone could not simply be cast over and over without the smallest break. Sure, she could probably do it a bit faster in a controlled training envoiroment such as this one, but she could never really ask herself to pull such a feat off otherwise.

Might as well just assume she had burned off her one use of that spell for the time being and carry on with that presumption in mind. Which left her with the far weaker mana charge in her left hand. Alisa looked down at it... True, mana didn't really weight anything, but whenever she condensed a lot of it in a single part of her body, it almost felt like it did. Except now... She crooked her brow, staring really hard, trying to channel a bit more magic power, just so she could reach that same feeling as before. She didn't, not easily anyway. Alisa was a patient woman, sure, but to pull off training sessions like these required a bit more than just patience.

She'd been swinging spells left and right, Geomancy in particular had taken a huge toll on her mana reserves with its sheer power and how long she had to keep it up to get well and truly used to the way it worked. In the end, she realized even emitting vibrations herself worked as mildly effective radar, but one she could potentially turn to and save herself in a pinch... But she had to use it sparingly or else she'd end up putting herself in that very same situation.

For now though, she needed to test this Diamond Storm again, even if it meant she couldn't fire it as powerfully as she'd done the first time around. Once more raising that hand forward, Alisa cried out again, "HAA!!", conjuring yet another magic circle before her hand, and shooting another diamond vortex. And she didn't need to actually see it hit the target to understand she hadn't pulled it off nearly as well as she probably should have...

Though she fired the spell just like the first time, a single glance revealed it lacked the same potency as it did the first time around. It didn't hit the training dummy nearly as fast or as hard, nor did it shred the target as viciously. And it still drained her magic power exactly as much, weakening Alisa's stance for a single panting moment.

Clearly, she needed a break...

Her breath was getting heavier as she burned through her mana, and it grew harder to stay focused by relying on simple stamina. Alisa was still far from the point where she'd be unable to stand by any means other than sheer willpower, after all her physical fitness as nothing to scoff at. Yet when using mana, it was as if a different well of power drained itself, her mind instead of her body. And a tired mind is far more prone to mistakes. Perhaps in a life or death situation she'd have no choice but will herself through it, but in here, she had the luxury of taking a break.

In a way...

She couldn't stop using mana completely, as she still needed to channel power into her left hand for the next Diamond Storm, and thus she simply sat down on the dusty ground, crossed her legs, and brought her hands together over her lap. And closing her eyes, she steadied her breath once again. A meditating position sufficed to help her relax, even if it wouldn't be nearly as efficient while still channeling mana into one hand. Simply waiting it out and concentrating on her palm would gradually helped her recharge it, even if she thought about the one final spell she wanted to pull off.´

Alisa remembered her weapon, the glimmering falcata... She remembered it fondly, a light element weapon capable of wreaking havok on darkness powered, demonic enemies. She'd used it against the demon in Era, and later against an acquaintance turned foe, a man turned demon named Lucifer. After having just broken that sword, she naturally lacked the luxury of using it in battle... Which meant she needed another sword. No matter how hard they may be, crystals hardly made good raw materials for swords. They hardness made them brittle when clashing against equally hard objects, especially metallic ones that could bend and absorb some of the impact.

So if she was seriously considering making a crystal sword, she had to once again exploit the ranged advantage given to her by the pure elemental nature of her magic, allowing her to create spells via crystallokinesis, spawning them within the range of her spells without a direct connection to her body. If she could achieve that, this crystal blade would potentially rival - if not surpass - any real weapon she could carry on her. Of course, she'd also have to deal with an inability of using said weapon as a strategy to conserve mana, meaning she'd need to resort to it as a final trump card to slay an injured enemy.

Alisa soon reached a stable point where her magic charge felt as strong as it had before, which in turn meant she could finally complete this training. Just in time too. Judging by the literal weight she felt on her body as she tried to stand up - resulting not from her magic but rather a noticeable effect of mental exhaustion, courtesy of spending far too much mana on top of an already draining morning marathon. Her legs already felt somewhat numb, and idleness made it harder to counter this effect... But she did it anyway. She couldn't sustain this spell for much longer, and thus her only choice was pressing forward. Gritting her teeth, Alisa focused on that overcharged hand once more, raising it and pointing it at the training dummy.

She barely remember she'd just pretty much destroyed the wall of training room thanks to miscalculating distances, so in an attempt to save the workers the extra trouble, she took a good few steps back, enough that she could blast through not just one but two training dummies in one go, in addition of sparing the poor walls of her destructive wrath. With another, hopefully final Kiai, she shot that third spell forward, and finally matched the first one in destructive power. Sparing the walls, sure... But not the ground, ripping up floor tiles as the spiralling storm of diamonds made its way unimpeded to her targeted training dummies, before effortlessly shredding them apart too. She didn't exactly tear off "bones", or what passed for bones in a training dummy, but it did tear off enough chunks that a living person would have undoubtedly sustained grievous, likely fatal damage in the process.

And what about that other spell? Indeed Alisa intended it as a Finisher, but partly for that reason she didn't try pumping in nearly as much mana into it. Why bother? At that point in a battle, she shouldn't really have nearly so much mana to fling around like it was nothing, nor could she simply fire off spells at a distance. And at that final point of a battle, both her and her opponent should find themselves comparatively exhausted, with a weakened reaction time and a far more sluggish body to make use of it.

Where a mere fifteen meters away stood a training dummy getting shredded by crystals, Alisa imagined an enemy. Weakened, wounded, and most likely getting flung back a slight distance from sheer impact. Envisioning a finishing blow, she flicked her wrist, the same one from which the final Diamond Storm had erupted from. And with that gesture, she produced a sharp, glimmering katana made from pinkish crystals, slicing a clean arc right across that dummy's neck even as it formed itself from nothing. The resulting attack would indeed have been fast, and if Alisa successfully concealed the casting gesture, night impossible to avoid.

"Well... This worked out rather nicely...", ALisa would comment, wiping all the sweat off her face as she finally released the channeled mana for Diamond Storm, and pulled off her hat. The mana for cutting bloom followed suit, letting the glimmering diamond blade fade into dust as she ran one hand over her sweat slicked raven hair, all but ruffling it into a somewhat less pleasing appearance, before putting her hat back on.

This training session had proved rather productive... Maybe now she'd be ready for all the Halloween madness that would soon undoubtedly be upon everyone in a few weeks from now. It appeared some of it was already underway already, and not even just with those jobs she had to clear a few days back. An actual carnival run by skeletons, is what she'd heard... Clearly, she'd have to get going tomorrow at best, but before that, she need a shower. Nay, a really long bubble bath to loosen out all the stress and wound up muscles...
