Alaric walked through the busy streets of Orchidia. The city wasn’t as lively today as it might have been in warmer weather. Shops have their windows covered with wooden shutters. Alaric stayed bundled up in a thick bomber jacket with fur lining the interior. The outside was an olive-greenish color. Fluttering beside him was Brondache; Alaric’s newly acquired friend and Mindrache. A creature up until a few days ago he had thought was nothing more than a myth told in his home counter. “How are you fluttering about like that? It’s absolutely frigid.” He pulled his coat tighter while watching the dragon flutter about the sky. Gleefully looking at the shiny fixtures that decorated the buildings for the winter holidays. Alaric kept the creature in clear view.

Knowing his bad behaviors. “Leave it.” He commanded. Noticing the creature had hung several small stained glass snowflakes on his crown. Cooing with joy. “Come on. The request was from this building at the end of the block. Let’s get there and get warm!” He shoved his hands in his pocket and awkwardly jogged off down the street, leaving Bron to fly behind.

Reaching the Horizon Apartments, he found Granny Betty waiting outside, her face etched with worry. "Oh, dear, you've come!" she exclaimed, relief washing over her lined features. "Thank you for being here, young man. It's my new apartment, you see. The previous owner left it in such a mess, and I simply can't make head nor tail of it!" Bron fluttered to the elder woman and gave her a once over before determining there was nothing of value in his greedy little eyes.

Alaric nodded, a small smile forming as he reassured her. "Don't worry, Granny Betty. I'll take care of it." She opened the building’s door and the trio poured in and out of the cold weather. Inside the building was not much warmer. A small fire was going off by the front desk but other than that there seemed to be not heat source. The lack of the breeze from outside was enough for Alaric to be happy. He unbuttoned the top layer of his outfit and followed the elder woman to a set of stairs.

As they walked up the stairs, Alaric got a strong smell of the building. It was clear that there was mold and likely some sort of vermin. He sighed. “Granny, you sure you want to live here?” He questioned as he gripped the rail climbing the stairs. Turning around, she gave him a large grin and wink. [color:c1f8=#yellow] “Of course I do. The city is where to be!” Letting out a boisterous laugh, Alaric took a few steps back.

“Alright, here we are!” She proudly exclaimed. Alaric gripped the railing tight as a pungent, almost visible odor came from her apartment. “ I just know it will be wonderful once it is clean. Don’t you agree?” Alaric held his left arm over his nose to cover it from the smell that was coming from the condo. . “Oh Granny…” was all that he could let out before lowering his arm to try and adjust to the smell.

Alaric and Brondache went to work, or rather Alaric went to work while Brondache spent the time sifting through all of Granny's old items. Throwing what it considered junk over its shoulder and sometimes even right out the window. Alaric had to scold him not once or twice but consistently throughout the course of the five hours they spent in that tiny condo. The easy part was disposing of the trash. Alaric simply tossed it into the fireplace and made quick work of the junk with a bomb or two. Granny wasn't too thrilled to see the windows shaking like that but she got over it once she saw the progress they made.

By the time they were done, the sun had started to set. Granny still had to do some decorating but at least there was no more trash and the primary surface of grime had been resolved. She gave both Alaric and Brondache a sack full of baked goods and a small envelope of jewels. She made him swear to come back in a month's time for a dinner to thank him again. Alaric gave the elderly woman a hug and went on his way. His heart becoming a bit softer thanks to her sweet actions.
