It’s been some time since Nuala had entered Era, and she was finally getting used to the city that was located in central Fiore. Of course it wasn’t her perfect idea of a city where she wanted to spend lots of time, but for now it was okay – considering the situation and the circumstances, the thief figured that she could make the best out of a place like this regardless. In fact, she was getting into contact with a gang here in Era that would surely help her get some coin in in the meantime. Nuala wasn’t exactly an amateur at this and she had done and completed many jobs relating to groups of the underground yet, but Era was of course special. It was not like Oak, where Eternal Nightmare had ruled for many years and everything and everyone was under the guild’s influence. For Nuala, Era was a bit of an experiment that meant that she could see if she could actually manage being around so many officers and Rune Knights and still keep her cool. So far she had been doing a relatively good job, if one might say so. Nuala was known to never having obtained a bounty.

This was because the thief was extremely careful in not getting caught and not getting any extra attention when she completed her mission and it was pretty much a part of her modus operandi. Of course there were sometimes occassions where one could come out more glorious and richer if they took a risk, so to speak, but Nuala wasn’t a greedy person. She could often do without the bonus reward if it meant staying safe and keeping her profile low and it had worked so far for her. She never had to worry about money much to begin with, which was fine by her. In the end, her standards weren’t through the roof. She wasn’t exactly humble either, but this all worked fine for her and the demon didn’t want any extra attention, at least not more than she already had on her at this point in time. Of course she couldn’t help that her reputation was growing, she was quite the infamous person after all. This was also mostly due to her rank, since of course Nuala had never really engaged in any big battles. She preferred to just shy away from those when she could.

That is why Nuala enjoyed working in the underground. There was always some type of lowkey job that she could complete, and those type of working jobs had never given her any trouble. In fact, it was usually something that she preferred doing and something that suited her personality. Something that made sense for a person like Nuala: steal something for something, place it somewhere else, set someone up like that or even kill one or two people. It was small effort for someone like her who had access to strong items and helpful magic spells that could basically turn her invisible. Because of this, Nuala didn’t worry too much. In fact, the other day she had already went around and visited an underground establishment to establish some connections with someone. It was a woman called Irina, who was the wife of the head of one of the local gangs here in Era. She had a job for Nuala that was simple but at the same time would prove her usefulness and Nuala had gladly accepted that job. It was done in a day, which included her breaking into the rune knight’s office and burn the information they had on Irina’s gang.

It sounded simple, and because of this, there was definitely more work where this was coming from and Nuala was most certainly ready. Because of this, she was now getting ready to leave again and visit that bar. It was 10pm, which was a perfect time to leave the house. Not too early, but not too late, well at least if you wanted to visit a bar. Most of the citizens of Era were asleep already by this time or were in bed or at least at home so that she wouldn’t run into many people when leaving the inn where she had rented a room. Nuala packed her belongings, which included her gear and her weapons and then left to be on her merry way. Whereever she stepped, the lights of the streetlamps started flicking in an ominous way and it was always eerie, the way her dark figure stepped through the dimly lit alleys - it really added to her flavour as an assassin and thief. But Nuala wasn’t about all that, she just wanted to get the work done. That is why she walked to the bar swiftly and entered. The server at the door already knew her.

He let her to her table this time, not at the bar where she had previously been, knowing that Nuala was here to meet someone important to discuss the next step of the ongoing gang warfares. Irina was also already present and walked over to Nuala’s table once she had finished her business with someone else. The two women were on somewhat friendly terms and Nuala had nothing to complain about when it comes to working with Irina so far. She paid well and her instructions for a job were very straight forward and clear. It was the kind of work she enjoyed doing, because it was free of trouble, but also simultaneously tricky and interesting enough, to keep her interested and on her toes. For now, the two women ordered something to eat while Irina updated Nuala on the current ongoings with the gang. Her husband, Roman, had been in this business for a long time and apparently he and Irina had been married for a long time, which is why there was never any question that she help him with his gang endeavors. They sold a plentitude of things like drugs, alcohol and also of course weapons.

In fact, Irina had already offered Nuala some of those weapons and asked if she was interested in purchasing anything. Nuala wasn’t a dealer and she didn’t take any drugs either, so that wasn’t an option, although she did appreciate getting a special rate if that were to be the case. Alcohol was a different story however, and Nuala had put a request in for an old and expensive wine that was said to be very delicious. Wine was definitely something she could enjoy by herself or with someone else and Irina had marked down her request, promising that she would take care of it. For now, however, it was time that Nuala did something for Irina in return. The woman began their little conversation and Irina informed Nuala, that there was a rival gang, that was most likely selling information to the Rune Knight, which is why the lawful officers were back on their track. Technically this was against their code of conduct, but at the same time these actions weren’t really surprising at all. They were bound to have some traitors among their rangs and no doubt some Rune Knights were corrupt and messed up as well.

Corrupt in a sense that they were willing to overlook one gang’s crime in order to get to another. Nuala didn’t quite understand the idea behind that and wondered if that was even doable legally for a Rune knight or a bunch of knights to do, but she also knew better than to question a system that was set up for corruption to begin with. Nothing about this was unusual, therefor she decided to brush over that and just get to work. From what she understood, Irina already had some information ready for her. The rival gang was called Grey Wolves, and apparently there was one person there who posed as a Rune Knight and worked with the Rune Knights and it was that person that was relying information about Irina’s gang back to their own and the rune knights and thats how the whole connection had been formed. It was incredibly difficult for crime families to get a trustworthy snitch into the rune knights since the council throughly checked all the people they hired and ther was an extensive background check for everybody which is how they were able to sort out all the criminals. You couldn’t become a knight without a clean sheet.

Therefore, Nuala’s next task would be to find out who the link between the rune knights and the grey wolves war. No doubt a difficult task, but Nuala was kind of a professional spy and a sneak thief so she trusted in her abilities to find out who the person was. Irina gave her the location of the grey wolves hide out and told her that Nuala had to find out herself how and when these people met with their informant, so it would probably be some time during which Nuala would watch them and spy on them until she found out who that person was. And once she found out, she would have to get rid of that singular gang member posing as a rune knight. It would no doubt be an eventful job and the demon was looking forward to it. She left the bar after finishing her dinner with Irina and immediately started getting to work. For now, she wanted to check out where the Grey Wolves headquarters were and to do that, she walked down the streets heading for the location that Irina had pointed her into but staying descret entirely.

Once she got closer to the location, Nuala climbed up some buildings and blinded in well with the darkness. Then, she put Corvo’s mask on and began spying. The mask allowed her to zoom in on people in a distance and also listen on what they were saying. It was the perfect item for this type of item honestly. And even though it was already late at night, this time of the day was perfect for a mission like this, since most gang members operated during the night, just like Nuala herself did. After spending about 3 hours on the rooftop, Nuala was able to learn some information about the Grey Wolves and who their informant was. It was a young knight called Eden, with whom they would meet with again in 2 days time at the fountain outside the city, where Eden would hand over some precious information and some paperwork. This was done outside the city gates of course and Eden wouldn’t be dressed like a rune knight in order to not gain too much attention, but that was all that Nuala needed. The next two days were planned already. Nuala went home for that night for now.

For the next two days however, the assassin was stalking the rune knight quarters, looking for a young male knight named Eden. It took her almost the entire two days, but she eventually found the right person. A tall blonde young lad with bright green eyes, who didn’t look suspicious at all, but he was most likely the informant of the grey wolves. Once the two days had passed, Nuala was lurking above the rune knight quarters, waiting for Eden to leave in the middle of the night, and once he did, she began stalking him. He was dressed casually and carried a bag with him. Once she confirmed that he was headed into the right direction of the fountain outside the city, Nuala snuck up on him and quietly slit his throat, murdering him in cold blood. She took all of the paperwork that he had intended to bring to the Grey Wolves and disposed of the body. Then, Nuala returned to Irina with all the information and the news that she had successfully gotten rid of the Grey Wolves spy and needless to say, the lady was very pleased. She paid Nuala a large sum of money and the thief went home happy.
