Upon arriving in Era, Charlotte and her companions were to meet with Jamie. It would be the first time in months that the siblings had met face to face. There was always a small risk that her father may have eyes on his second son, especially if he were to travel away from the capital. However, he was fairly confident today that since he was on official Rune Knight business, it was highly unlikely.

Like Charlotte, Jamie possessed gorgeous golden eyes and luscious blue locks, albeit his hair was far darker than that of either Charlotte or their eldest sibling, Isaac. His garb, unlike Charlotte’s choice of simple, comfortable clothing for travel, was far more fitting for that of a wealthy nobleman’s son. An intricately designed suit that included a black twin-tailed penguin jacket with golden embroidery that matched his eyes. Eyes that lit up the moment their sights fell on his beloved sister disembarking the train carriage.

Hugs and pleasantries would be exchanged between siblings, before Jamie would turn to greet Gwendolyn with a small treat, successfully appeasing the gluttonous gryphon. Once done with that, he’d turn to the final member of the travelling group.

“It’s so good to see you again, Edgar.” Jamie smiled brightly as he offered his hand out towards the young man beside Charlotte, preparing to give him a firm shake, “I pray your family is fairing well.” He’d met Edgar before during his infrequent trips to the village. While the two hadn’t been particularly close, Jamie had always been incredibly thankful for the support Edgar’s family had given his sister in her time of need. Often sending quite a large portion of his paycheck to them despite their reluctance to accept.

Edgar stepped off the train behind Charlotte. He’d never been to Era before or the Central Region. He caught glimpse of the man he knew as James, Charlotte's brother, whom he had seen and met. As James offered his hand to Edgar, he took it and shook.

“It’s good to see you too, James looks like you’ve been keeping well.” He also took a step forward, giving him a pat on the back as they shook in warm greetings. “Last I heard, the family was good! Hope to see them before the year is out, but as far as I know, they are up to the usual.” After a time, he stopped shaking his hand and took a step back, looking intently at the two siblings, “well shall we walk and talk?” He said as he collected his things and stood ready to move along with the two when they were ready to move on.

"That's just swell to hear, and yes, it would be best not to linger here." Jamie chuckled as he guided the small party out and away from the train station. He'd yabber on about this and that talking about his work in general and skirting over any confidential information he shouldn't release to the public, even if they were family and close friends. What intrigued Charlotte the most was hearing about his Captain-Commander, Lucretia Wolfenstein. A werewolf that had risen rather quickly through the ranks of the Rune Knights through her never-ending efforts to make the world a better place.

It wasn't until they entered a small inconspicuous house a few streets down from the train station that Jamie would finally feel comfortable enough to talk more freely about the job at hand. Inside it felt rather home-like, clearly, it had been where the young man had been living when off duty as there were several signs it was in fact his own place, a painting of charlotte as a young child catching the tamer's eye. Before she could make a comment on it, however, she and Edgar would be ushered to the dining table where several maps were already spread out as the Rune Knight turned serious and got down to the business at hand.

Jamie seemed as business-oriented and friendly as he remembered as they walked to what he assumed was his residence. He didn’t live lavishly but modestly as well. As they entered his house, Edgar noticed it was relatively pristine, ordered and had a painting that looked somewhat like charlotte but much younger.

“Not a bad place, Jamie, not bad at all.” He murmured as they were ushered towards the dining table of the room they had now entered. Maps with markings strewn across the table appeared to be largely of the town of Era itself but also of known tunnel networks and the surrounding area. A stack of pages sat on the end closest to Jamie, which included some sketches of people, probably a dossier on people of interest.

“So, Jamie, what can I do to help? It looks like you are pretty far along already.” He motioned to the papers before continuing, “Could I have a look at those?”

"Huh?" Jamie looked up to see what Edgar was talking about, "Oh, of course, help yourself." He motioned towards the young man with a wave, as he gave him the okay to look through the papers while he moved around standing in from of one of the many maps that had a circle drawn around an area.

"You're not wrong, I have been working on this for quite some time." Jamie chuckled briefly, "At first we got reports of robberies from various stores, but they all seemed unconnected with haphazard timings. That was until we found out all of them had one thing in common stolen. All their capture balls, are gone. I have been working on this case now for about a month but I'm struggling to pinpoint the hideout of the gang responsible, all I know is that they are often seen hanging around this area." He motioned to the circle he'd pointed out before.

On closer inspection, it would become evident that the map was of the township Era, itself, with the circle drawn within one of the heavily commercial districts. It wouldn't take someone with half a brain to assume that they probably held all the goods they'd stolen in one of the many buildings in the area. However, the Rune Knights most likely couldn't just storm them all, it would upset the innocent townsfolk that may own some of the unaffiliated properties.

Edgar flicked through the papers which he held after the okay given by Jamie. Some had details on what was stolen, others had information on gangs which they had been tracking and possible members, and where they tended to hang out or around, he noticed that each had a number that corresponded to a number on one of the maps on the table, he assumed it was a visual representation of where they were.

“I see”, Edgar murmured as Jamie described the current situation. He had no idea what a ‘capture ball’ was but returned to his papers singling out members mentally who were possible individuals they could trail or investigate further. “Excuse my ignorance, but what is a capture ball? I’ve never heard of them.” He looked toward Jamie and Charlotte for an answer, which Jamie gave, “Well, it’s a ball about so big” — He clasped his hands together into a small sphere — “With an eye symbol on the side, it glows faintly when a creature is within.”

“A creature within?” Edgar asked, curious.

“Yes, it is an invention for one to be able to store their creature companion in relative safety. ” Jamie replied. Edgar was intrigued. It sounded like a beautiful device. Perhaps that is why they were taking them?

“What do you think, Charlotte?” He looked to his friend with interest at her input to the situation.
