Cue the music:

Nana stood on the beach, near the port of Astera. Long wooden docks stretched nearly as far as the eyes could see. The port of Astera was a primary source of revenue and survival of the city. The young woman was here today to complete a quest- a familiar quest even. She had taken this job once before, but she suspected the outcome would be largely different. Even now, she reminisced about the events that had led her and Erebus to stealing some jet skis and riding giant slippery eels while slashing at them. She chuckled to herself softly. For now reason, to any onlookers. That wasn't uncommon though. Anyone in her guild knew that Nana was meticulous about details, but also a bit unhinged in the head. "Old man... You said something has been bothering the fish again?" the green haired girl said to a large muscular fisherman who looked to already be in a bad mood.

The fisherman took one look at Nana and frowned. He did not appreciate being called old. His frown quickly diminished when he noticed a much larger and sturdy hulking monstrosity of a man standing right behind Nana. The fisherman sweated a little, imagining a terrible brawl with the other guild member with Nana- Akeno. Little did the fisherman know, but Nana was the physically stronger of the two. If he had tried to lay hands on her, she simply would have crushed his arm with one hand. "Uh.. yes ma'am! We've been having some trouble near the cove. Some salamander type shark has been terrifying our fish away from the area." he said in a diminutive way to minimize any feedback from his near aggression. These were dark mages after all. It didn't matter good or bat, the fishermen just wanted their fish back. Nana chuckled again, this time clearly making fun of the fisherman.

Akeno had stepped up behind Nana right around the time the man went to say something off kilter to her. The man was not one people usually messed with, but at the same time, whispers in the guild about Nana's proclivity to getting others into fights had not escaped him. However, this was a Quest he would not be allowed to take without her, so he would take the risk that came along with the woman.

Akeno had blocked out the sun for a moment for the man as he had spoken with Nana, the man went on for a short time about the thing that was attacking the fish, at which time Akeno would look on to Nana and nod to her, a silent agreement to just follow her lead on this mission. As they walked past the man, Akeno stared the man down, towering over him as the man just sat there quiet.

Cue the music:

Nana already had an inkling of where the issue originated from and spread to and fro. There were several coves around the edge of West Fiore. Astera itself had taken advantage of one of those coves and turned it into a bustling port that never seemed to sleep. With her destination clear in her head, she would move away from the fisherman and Akeno would follow her. She had seen the hulk of a man occasionally, but she couldn't be for certain just how long ago he had joined the guild. She was here more for him than herself. More out of curiosity than actual help of course. The man was large enough to intimidate most people... but beasts were different. Could he bluff a beast down?

She looked at him out of the corner of her eye as they walked. Surely even a medium sized magical beast would scare off if Akeno were to stand tall and wave his arms aggressively. Then again, that depends on how hungry the beast was. "There is a cove nearby. Erebus-San and I dealt with some overly large eels there. I suspect another predator has taken over roost there." she would say, explaining to Akeno of her past adventure.

the two of them would make their way down the dock and to a nearby booth that rented out jet skis to locals and tourists. One look at Nana and the man behind the desk paled noticeably even from a distance. His face was so pale that even Nana was impressed. Even before the two dark mages reached his booth, the man had already retrieved two sets of keys and slid them silently forward just as nana and Akeno reached him. without a word, nana would grab them and place one set into Akeno's overly large hands. "We'll take these to the cove and investigate."

The hulk of a man had stayed silent thus far, and nothing had changed about that. He would take the key with a nod and headed off towards his ski he would be taken, he pondered if the man was more pale due to himself or due to the woman and her infamy. Akeno would shake it off, obviously it was the man's stature. Albeit he thought that, the real reason was likely the other, but his pride would not let him think other wise.The man took his seat on the ski, it dipped further than with most, and he paid it no mind. He started up the Ski and would look over towards the woman he was traveling with.

At the moment that she would take off, so would he, headed off in the same direction, she seemed to know where she was going and what it may be, as he had no clue himself.

Nana had rarely even used such travel before. In fact, her last time had been her first. Erebus had to teach her how to use the vehicle even. She assumed Akeno knew more than her about such things and wouldn't offer him any advice unless he specifically asked. She doubted he would though- the only news she had ever heard of the man was that he was quite prideful. Nana didn't mind, as she didn't view personal feelings the same as most. To her, pragmatism was best. The most simple solutions offered the best outcomes. And obviously if you couldn't solve a problem with violence... You weren't using enough violence.

This very quest was the embodiment of that concept. Although Nana and Erebus had killed the giant eels in the cove, another predator had taken over and scared the fish away. She suspected this may be a reoccurring incident, but at least it was providing her and her guildmates a steady income of jewels and combat experience.

From the information she and Akeno had gathered from the fisherman and the locals, they had determined that there was a singular beast. A large salamander type aquatic magical beast that had qualities of a shark. The ride to the cove would be swifter than Nana's last time. For this time she knew exactly where to look. Upon arrival, she would slow to a stop before they reached the cave along the cove's coast. "In there is shallow water and goes deeper much back and down into the ground. It is the best spot for hunters to hide and await their food. We'll go in and see if the beast is there." she would explain the plan, but offering no actual plan. The only thing of certainty, was the grin on her face- albeit hidden beneath her mask. Her dancing eyes would give her away though of Akeno was the observant type.

Akeno had figured out how it worked quickly enough, it had not been that hard. Akeno had followed Nana and proven right, she did have a good idea as to where to go. Akeno had heard the man back in town. A salamander that acted like a shark. That seemed interestingly enough. However when Nana spoke of her idea, he would nod, and for the first time this quest he spoke, the voice thundered out " Well since you know what your doing im just along for the ride at this point in time."

Akeno would follow Nana to where she was talking about. The water barely reaching his shins. He would crouch down however to get a bit further into the cave and waited for the right moment to strike or rather watching Nana for when the time to strike would happen. How would she handle this mission Akeno wondered.

SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY

Cue the music:

Nana had easily walked into the cave entrance after dismounting her vehicle. She stepped easily into the shallow waters, a bit higher on her compared to Akeno due to their size difference. She peered further back, several feet away and could luckily see the depth difference. Further back was somewhat darker, but that wouldn't bother Nana as she was a daemon. If they progressed too far, Akeno might have difficulty seeing however. So they needed a plan to draw their prey to them. Soon, the hunter would become the hunted.

She outstretched both hands. One dagger magically appeared in her right hand and then she reached across and drew a small red line across the top of her hand. She bled herself and allowed her crimson liquid to seep into the shallow waters.

Sharks were well known for having a strong sense of smell for blood. With the bait set, now all they had to do was to wait. nana herself would go a bit further back and stand on a low rock facing that overlooked the deeper part of the cave's waters. When the creature would surface, she would pounce upon its back. The only thing she had said to Akeno was "You can watch or participate." with a grin. She was not belittling him, no. She was giving him permission to partake in her hunt. Soon, a dark shadow would near the surface, sniffing for blood.

Akeno had nodded to her and kept back a bit, to give her some room to work. When she mentioned the ability to participate, he would shake his head no once. "Not at this time" He almost talked as if he was trying to sound impressive or something, like a knight of yor instead of just saying no. Akeno watched the blood drip into the water and watched the deeper parts of the water for signs of life of this creature.

Now Akeno was certain the little lady could handle herself, but if he felt the creature was being too sneaky or that she may get caught off guard, than he would definately jump in to help her, however something told him deep down, that she would not need it, and at this time he figured she was just doing for him what others did for her, easy pay days.

SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY

Akeno would not participate in this hunt, but he would remain nearby in case things favored against Nana. Nana was not a thrill seeker or haphazard adventurer. She loved a good adventure but rarely intentionally placed herself in danger for no reason. Mostly. No, she was the type to prepare in advance and overwhelm others- only stopping to enjoy torture or exacting whatever form of revenge she wished to enact on people or creatures. Today, this beast was no different.

Erebus and Nana had cleared this cave out before and left the corpses of the eels to rot and be eaten by the returning fish. It seemed that this salamander shark had eaten the free meal prepared by Nana instead. It was akin to that childhood story of little Goldy Locks breaking into the bears' homes and rummaging through the food and belongings. Unforgivable.

When the creature finally surfaced, it would pause at the shallows temporarily, sniffing the blood and then looking about to see where the wounded prey was. At first, all it would see was Akeno. it was impossible for the massive man to hide, not that Nana figured he would hide. Much like Nana, he was true to himself and cared little or not at all for others' proclivities.

Whether Akeno realized it or not, Nana had hidden out of line of sight for more than one reason. Namely, because she was using Akeno as bait. The creature would fully crawl out of the water and square off in front of the hulking man. Intimidated by Akeno's size- the salamander thought itself in danger rather than finding easy prey. So intent was it upon Akeno, that nana had no trouble at all as she leaped from the rock cliff and onto the creature's back. As she landed, her daggers would appear in her hands and the steel blades would sink deep into the creature's back.

Akeno had noted mentally that Nana had climbed up to a location to give her a tactical advantage of jumping onto it from above, which would mean one thing. The beast was coming for him. Akeno had gotten into a ready stance to catch the beast, he would not be able to hold it for any real amount of time, however he knew all he needed was just a moment for Nana to do her thing.

Off in the deeper water he could see the disturbance, and watched it slowly surface, he locked eyes with it and could see the beast, and almost able to tell what it was thinking. Even a monster could be intimidated it would seem, but that just made this thing that much more dangerous. Akeno would back up a little letting it get more comfortable to come forward until it stepped under Nana where she landed on it and used her daggers to start riding the beast like a bucking bronco.

SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY

Cue the music:

Nana's surprise attack would be complete and devastating. As she landed on the beast's back and her daggers sunk into its flesh, Nana felt the bite of her blades deep into the beast's body. Deep red blood gushed from where she stabbed it and she knew instantly that she had hit a vital point. The salamander shark thrashed about the cavern entrance in an attempt to free itself from whatever monster had sank its teeth into its back.

The green haired daemon was wise enough to pay attention to her surroundings and roll along the body of the beast as it tried to smash her against a wall. Her daggers bit into the beast again and again as she twirled all over its body- latching into place and drawing more blood repeatedly. The struggle would only last for a minute or so before the beast cried in agony and gave up. Its thick legs wavered and buckled due to blood loss and its weight crashed down into the shallow waters of the cove cave's entrance.

When all was said and done, Nana made her steel daggers disappear into a puff of magic and she rolled off the salamander shark. She was covered from head to toe in the creature's blood. She wiped a bit of blood from her face, only smearing more from her hand. "I think we can call this quest a success. You weren't nearly crushed were you?" she would ask, genuinely interested.

Akeno had watched the little woman ride this beast like a horse in a rodeo, it was almost impressive. Yet Akeno would say nothing about it, the man of muscle would watch and move out of the way if he needed to. When the beast would eventually succumb to it wounds, he would watch it drop down, and watching Nana on the dismount he would smirk and tell her "Dismount, I give a seven, should add more flash to it next time."

Akeno would shake his head no. "No not hurt, beast seemed to like the water more" Akeno would stare at the large beast "Maybe we should carry it back to the guild and have dinner on us" Akeno would go ahead and walked over to the beast and lifted it up on his shoulders. At which time he would nod to nana and carried it off to his ski. Riding the ski back to the dock, he would take the beast with him and carried it out through town. He was headed off back to the guild. He left Nana to handle any of the wrap up that needed to be handled.

Upon reaching the guild headquarters he would carry the Sharkamander to the kitchen and looked at the cooks and said "Dinners on Nana and myself tonight" at which point he would walk out to leave the cooks to their cooking and cleaning of the beast. Hopefully it would be a good dinner tonight thanks to them.
