Valeria Hildegard

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

The gentle cold breeze wafted through the air, leaving behind a chill that caused people to evade it. While the pier was normally a popular spot for everyone, as the night breeze descended and the sun slowly fell into a slumber, people began to take their leave. The sky was painted a dark orange that mingled with shades of pink before slowly falling into darkness.

Valeria sat by the pier, legs crossed, on a wooden bench that seemed like it would fall apart at merely a touch but surprisingly, held itself together. Her elbow rested on the wooden table before her as she gazed onto the sea that was slowly drifting into a shade of black. Her silver curls were held tame in a ponytail, revealing her expression. She was deep in thought, reflecting back on her actions from the past. It had been a few days since her coincidental encounter with Erebus back in Oak and although she wanted to say that it left a bad taste in her mouth, the truth was far from it. She had thought that by now, she would have forgotten his touch and his taste, but she found herself recalling it every now and then.

His gold blood had sent her into a frenzy, bringing out her true nature as a vampire but for the first time in a while, she had also managed to feel like a human again. The feeling that she had craved was handed to her on a silver platter. With the way she had been going until now, her anger was satiated but only temporarily. She would be filled with rage at the sight of another from her own species, only to feel the bliss after killing them but the cycle would always repeat. It was neverending and for the prolonged period of time for which Valeria had lived, it seemed like she was trapped in this loop with no escape. She wanted to break free.

Erebus

A figure through the smoke coming from the hills would make it’s way down a dirt path. He didn’t necessarily move quickly, and he didn’t seem to radiate anything special until one really gandered at him. The shade that slowly drew into the scene could be made out in armor, a demon hanma strapped to his shoulder which could be placed at his face. He had a spiked mid-length hairstyle, buzzed on the sides and pink in toner, black ink was running across his face in an ancient tribal fashion.

Sharp canines and red eyes set him apart from your regular human, as well as the extra arms that dangled hidden beneath a cloak thrown over his body. His fingernails were black like onyx, matte like charcoal. Three individual daggers hidden across his body, able to be drawn at rapid pace.

Erebus was a Master, refined with his weapons to a point he didn’t use magic, at least not realistically. He much preferred to carve his enemies apart with his inhuman physicality. Recently Erebus had defended his guild, likely attracting attention he other-wisely avoided, but nothing could be done when his infamy has spread so far and wide— yet he was drawn out again without quite understanding himself.

Tracing out to the west region, Erebus had been thinking on a lot. Most of which he wouldn’t admit too. It was only a week ago, he was in Oak watching an individual who peaked his interests, met right around here. Peculiar as it was, Erebus was seemingly lured in by an otherworldly whisper of her voice. It called him to her when she thought about him, he wondered if that’s because she had drank from him, or because they had shared more than that upon their chanced encounter.

That Witch of a Dracula, he thought to himself...

And yet, staring at the sky tonight, he stops under the moonlight unassuming and without knowing who was right there. Tilting his head to the side, it was only then he was seeing her again. Not in his thoughts, or even if he was, he speaks out to the girl.

This was the mystical effects of a vampire— here he was, pulled from the trenches of his Underworld. Back into the vision of that same woman who enchanted him in the castle, he couldn’t help but get excited— Erebus didn’t show that emotion, despite actually feeling it...

Of course... he had been stalking her, not purposely. The question of whether that was truly his fault was up for debate. When his crimson eyes met hers, his face grinned down at her sitting alone, revealing the smugness of his visitation. “Well what do you know?” He started up. His tone was like that of an old friend, or perhaps an old enemy. “It’s good to see you again Valeria, are you enjoying the countryside?” His voice was invasive, mysterious. One truly couldn’t read Erebus, he was a freelance assassin. Yet she knew him better than most, explored him better than most.

He knew he hadn’t made his way here on purpose. She was on his thoughts, and just like the succubus she was. The Vampyrss appears before him, or he before her... It mattered not to him why he came before her, however it must have meant she was thinking of him too. “Not sure if you’ll find any of your kind in this area, they are more prominent in Dahlia.” Small talk. He thought, would ensure she stuck around. She intrigued his mind, perversed his ambitions. It was no doubt he felt some sort of magnetism.

Erebus walked closer and sat down beside her, leaning back and retrieving something to smoke from his pocket, he unwinded without welcome. Unafraid to get close to her, which he was sure might cause her to react at him. Though he cared not, he wasn’t here to please her. He was merely in the area to chat, at least... That was the best way to polish the truth. Erebus imprinted on the Vampire, now connected to her until she was done with him.

Escaping that fate was impossible, he was beginning to realize Valeria was going to take up his headspace, and be a character that wasn’t immediately a stranger a week later. He couldn’t deny that he liked that though. Not after that night in Castle Phantasm... She was burned into his memory; and wouldn’t easily be shaken from it.

Not until he left her wonder, it was unknown whether Valeria knew she had this power, but if she did. It kind of pissed the man off. He could sense it, and it irked him. However, that was not the way his mind was working, no— his new nature through the pact caused him to hold onto things. To keep them conquered in his mind and spirit.

Damn her for that.

The way she drank him. He loved it just a little too much...

Valeria Hildegard

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

The train of thoughts raced over the track in her mind, loudly occupying her attention as she emptily stared into the dark sea that glistened with traces of silver. The moon shone brightly over her head, threatening to bring back the vivid memories that she attempted to bury deep in her mind before she found herself craving them yet again. Her eyes fluttered shut as she let herself get carried away by the feeling of the cold wind against her skin.  In a way, it was the exact opposite of the sensation carved into her mind and body.

The vampire was someone who took great pride in her abilities and senses. After all, there was a reason why she survived as long as she did. However, as the memories of her fateful encounter with the rogue rummaged through her head, her ears failed to pick up the sound of someone approaching. At least not until they were close enough. Valeria was vexed at this odd feeling where she no longer felt in control of her own thoughts. That man had somehow imprinted into her mind to such an extent that she unwillingly found herself picturing his face when she closed her eyes. The taste of his blood lingered on her tongue as she swallowed her saliva and his touch remained burned onto her skin, unable to cool even under the grace of the howling wind.

While he had awoken a side to her that she did not exist, she found herself at a crossroad. A part of her wanted to continue to take advantage of Erebus, feeding onto him and utilizing him to satiate her desires that went beyond the scope of mere hunger. After all, that is what she had initially decided to do from the moment she laid eyes on that man. However, there was a part of her that wanted to forget. The confidence she had at the beginning was slowly slipping through her fingers as she could no longer guarantee that she could keep her addiction to the man at bay. She had seen him as nothing more than a mere challenge that she could have fun conquering but it was, in fact, her who was close to being conquered. She never expected to slip into the sensation of insatiable desire but here she was. She knew he was bad news because when she recalled the night they spent together, it wasn't just his blood that she craved.

As if pulling her out of her thoughts, a familiar voice rung into her ears, drowning out the sound of the wind caressing the flowing water. Valeria didn't have to look at the man to know who he was. The familiarity of his voice and his tone just immediately clicked in her head. As if manifesting her thoughts, he appeared before her. She turned her head, looking upwards at the man who approached her, greeting her as if he were greeting an old acquaintance. She scoffed slightly at his tone but she couldn't quite read him. "Yea, it's very peaceful here." She almost didn't like his nonchalant tone. "Dare I say, it's even more enjoyable than the castle back in Oak." She found herself slowly developing a habit of provoking that man. Whether it would work or not, she did not know but she didn't like the hold he had on her and she was going to ensure that he knew nothing of it.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were following me around. Did you miss me already?" Valeria spoke with smugness in her tone. Her arm that rested on the table retreated to her body as she crossed her arms over her chest. She wasn't sure whether she wanted to retreat or not, to run away from the man or to run towards him. Her indecision made her stay put in the seat as he spoke to her. A smile crawled onto her painted lips as she spoke, "You'd be surprised at the things you can find when you're not really looking." As he made his way towards her and sat down beside her, the warmth of his body radiated onto her side. "Plus, where's the fun in hunting them if they're prominent?"

She looked over towards him, her crimson gaze observing him as he pulled out a pipe to smoke. His face underneath the moonlight was known to her, a lot better than she had wanted it to be. His gold blood patched within his skin, he glistened silver underneath the light. If she going to get addicted, she wanted to at least know why. She wanted to know what it was about him that sent her into a frenzy. "Erebus, why do you have gold blood?" Rather than dillydallying, Valeria was someone who jumped right in. Of course, the rogue would have already known that.

Erebus

Erebus packed a bowl of herbs into the pipe sticker, whatever he was smoking, it had a certain aroma that invited peace. Erebus then looked down at his pants, finding a cargo pocket for a zippo, flicking it open, it’s unbalanced kerosene engulfed a large fire that didn’t truly appear to phase him while it was clearly burning his flesh.

He lit the bite, and leaned back just as she removed her arm from the bench beside his person and closed her arm. Erebus was no fool to body language and just like his own would mansplain, her’s took a disposition of mild discomfort. However, seeing is how she didn’t leave, he chalked it up merely to attitude. Something he was particularly experienced in having known both Nuala and Venus for a few years now.

“That’s because you didn’t seek peace in Oak,” he jested. “You were out for blood, and found something else.” Erebus smiled with a charm that imitated the devil. He certainly could be assumed one, and he quite liked that. It was becoming of him, as he slowly transcended beyond what he was meant to be— or perhaps what he was destined to become. “I do a little creeping in the night myself but I don’t see you as one to talk Vampire Hunter.” Erebus drew a significant point. Valeria did stalk her own kind, so if he were stalking her, it was quite literally no different than what she herself did. “Hypocrite.” Erebus snuck the diss, and teased.

Erebus blew a cloud of smoke, packing another tree from a sack at his pocket into the pipe spicket. While she retorted or engaged in her next bit of dialogue, Erebus held on hand out for her to take it, if she refused, he’d simply shrug and hit it again himself. Her next question was a notable one, which he barely had a fair answer for.

“Well, I remember finding that Merchant. He offered me a deal, and said I was going to be visited and chosen if I paid his price, all would come together. I thought he scammed me for six and half million...” Erebus started. “I began to have nightmares, visions of being eaten alive and ripped apart.” He continued. “Then, before I would be swallowed entirely I bit into the monster’s juggalor. I don’t know what it was, or who it was. But when I awoke, my body had undergone an evolution, and somehow I knew this was linked to the Pact with the God the merchant alluded too. It was foolish to give my money over at first, after all... There was nothing there at first. It didn’t happen right away.” He sighed. “I’m not sure why a God’s blood is in my veins, but I guess it means I’m some kind of Warlock. Someday— I might become a God myself.” He finally concluded. “I’m just a man for now— indefinitely until things make more sense. I’m only shooting guesses through the dark for now.”

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

The silver-haired woman slightly scoffed at his words but she couldn't find it in her to retort because frankly, what he said was far from a lie. "It's not often you hear someone refer to themselves as 'something'." She glanced his way, observing his actions as her eyes wandered from his hands to his face, eventually resting on his lips where a smile lingered. That smile that she had seen a few times was packed with charm and arrogance, far from one that could belong to a human. However, everything about the man was far from human that for a moment, she doubted whether he even was one.

A small smile crept onto her lips when he called her a hypocrite as she turned her attention back to the ocean that dwelled in darkness. She had already known that she was a hypocrite, much better than anyone else. After all, her own actions contradicted everything that she was. "Hmm, you're right, I am a hypocrite but I creep around to kill." She leaned in towards him, turning her attention back to the man. "I don't think that's why you're hanging around me. If you really wanted to kill me, you've had multiple opportunities to do so."

Refusing the pipe he had offered with a shake of her head, she watched the man. She observed everything about him; the way the end of the pipe touched his lips, the way his hair fluttered with the wind, the way the tattoos formed lines along the crevices of his face. Even Valeria couldn't deny that he was as beautiful as he was arrogant, in ways that a normal human could never be. The more she thought about it, the harder she found imagining herself feeding on another because the crimson liquid no longer sparked her interest. It was the gold ichor that seamlessly flowed underneath his pale skin that she wanted.

She listened intently as he answered her question. Her crossed legs slightly tilted in his direction as her attention departed from the peaceful scenery in front of her to the man furthest away from peace. She had predicted that the Erebus had probably gone through various experiences to become what he was now but she didn't particularly care for it. Asking a question to simply understand her own addiction made her realize the layers that he was hidden behind and she didn't want to peel them away out of fear of caring too much. Valeria simply wanted to see the rogue as a means to satisfy her hunger and her pleasure but it was becoming increasingly hard for her to do so.

"God's blood, huh? That would explain a lot." It was rather ironic that the vampire found herself addicted to the blood of a creature she abhorred. Shrouded in her own cloud of denial, she wanted to believe they didn't exist but with the state of the world, as it was, it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to deny it. Therefore, she hated them instead but here she was, thirsting after the blood of one that flowed within Erebus' veins. However, in a way, it also provided her with some relief. She could convince herself that his blood was the reason why the image of him remained burned in her memory rather than he, himself, and yet, she could not fight the feeling of wanting him in the palm of her hands. She damned that man for providing her with yet another dilemma to overcome.

Uncrossing her arms, she looked at him. "Since you don't seem to say no to good deals, let me take the liberty of offering you one." Placing her hand on his thigh, she lifted herself off her seat and found a new one on his lap. "If you let me have your blood whenever I want...." She leaned closer to him, pushing his pipe aside as she planted a kiss on his neck before moving closer to his ear to whisper, "....I'll continue to show you what true pleasure feels like." Valeria roughly knew of his nature or at least enough to know that he couldn't be convinced to agree to her. She had made her intentions clear from their first meeting so there was no reason to not establish a set relationship between them.

Erebus

“Oh, that is a hard offer to pass up.“ Erebus said, through an indecisive tease.

Erebus listened to her peeking to his side, the layers she wore were attractive, a skirt and jacket, light colors. The opposite of what he donned, in dark shades of red, purples and black. They represented the polarity of good and bad. She killed her kind as a means of justice, he destroyed his enemies as a form of signification. There shouldn’t have been so much chemistry, magnetism, and... affection. Crawling up into his lap and pushing his pipe to the side, the girl planted soft red lips against him. Erebus leaned upward as he felt his lustful disposition calling— her whispers tickling his ear in the same seducing way they had done already nights prior.

“Let’s make the deal sweeter,” he rested his hand on the back of her head, tugging her blonde locks back with black fingernails softly burying in and controlling her. He brought her face back to his, and slipped his tongue within her mouth, purposely slicing her teeth against it so the gold would slide gracefully into her throat once more. “I don’t stay out at night to stare at pretty killers.” He started with his voice, “If you want to hang around me then you‘ll have to be my partner, take some jobs and make some money with me adventuring.” He releases her at the last word— the euphoria washing over her by now from his blood. Resting her face cozily into his neck to plant more kisses... or bites.

“Get nice and strong, protect yourself. Help me conquer this world.” He finally finished. There was an atmosphere of intensity behind his words. Otherwise, he just simply wouldn’t have been Erebus, his demands were unavoidable. A man of ambition only seeks to carry his own people out of the trenches, and Erebus was one of the few in this world who could give people the push and safety to grow to their final forms. He was a key to Eternal Nightmare’s success— because he was the most faithful, his human ingenious carried him from the streets of Oak to a name of infamous legend. He sought only to be written in text and remembered, remarked on for all time.

To say she wasn’t already as powerful as him was a lie, but her potential reached far greater distances. Her power far higher up the mountain. So the deal with the Devil was set; if she craved him hard enough. She would adjust to his leadership. Or— take a position to lead him, as her partner.

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

It seemed futile to try to run away. Valeria couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards Erebus no matter how hard she tried so instead, she attributed it to the sublime taste of his blood. As she positioned herself on his lap, leaning into his neck for a kiss that dripped with innocent teasing, she watched in bliss as he leaned his head back to give her space. A smile crawled onto her face as she pulled away but she had expected what was to come. While the vampire received his blood to satisfy her craving, she did expect him to demand more than just her body. Hence, there was a lack of surprise on her face when he suggested making the offer sweeter.

His hand slithered its way to the back of her neck and grasped onto her soft locks, as a warning of his control over her, before pulling her face in. Her lips parted, easily granting him access as he slid his tongue in and pierced his own flesh with her canines. The blood that seeped into her mouth danced along her own tongue as Erebus spoke before making its way to the back of her throat. That dizzying feeling of pleasure hit her yet again but in a much smaller quantity than she would like. That was why her lips made their way back towards his neck once his hold on her hair loosened. She didn't bother trying to be gentle with him as she dug her canines into his neck, allowing for an explosion of blood to flow into her parted lips.

This was it; it was the feeling that she had craved, the feeling that removed all indecision from her mind and filled her with pure bliss. Once she had drunk enough for a quick taste, she pulled away, running her tongue over the remnants of the blood on her lips as her thumb glided over the wounds she punctured into his neck. Her crimson gaze watched the man for a second before she let out a sigh, "That does not sound like something I would do. No, wait, it might be better to say that it doesn't sound like something I'd want to do."

Valeria's arms slithered over his neck as she cozied herself into his lap, squirming her hips ever so slightly to settle in. "You're a lot more troublesome than I expected, Erebus." That, however, was her own fault for choosing to drink his blood because when she did, she did not expect to find it so addicting. "You should be grateful that your blood is too good to pass up on. I'll agree to your conditions." She paused, planting a kiss on his lips. "For now."

She planted yet another kiss on his lips, this time ensuring to slither her tongue in to get another taste of him before pulling away. "I don't like doing a lot of work, darling. You're going to have to prove to me that you're worth it."

Erebus

Erebus held the sophistication that few could contest with, he didn’t feel that his conditions were unfair, but rather, critical and quite necessary. His response was simple, the woman was attractive but he followed an uncharacteristic approach to life. “Trouble is as trouble does.” His hands, which were the pair visible, rested on her backside as she began to feed on him. Fueling lust behind his eyes yet again, however— as one who resisted, he was a challenge she quite enjoyed. Erebus definitely wished to abuse and violate her, but the inner core was different with this Human. He sought those who needed protecting, and that in turn, arguably made him a good person.

Erebus was aware he was notorious, it put a target on his back. If Valeria wanted to drink upon the Rogue, it left her a target by association. His conditions were overall in her interests, but that didn’t mean he was going to let the sex-drive influence his decisions and ambition. Surely, that is what she was referring to.

“I’m no more grateful for what I am, and what courses these veins, than you are.” He retorted sarcastically, inhaling the scent of her as she licked the wound left upon his pale neck. “After all, you wouldn’t be in my lap if I didn’t reach the stage of your own otherworldly presence.” What Erebus said could be taken as cold, as it essentially assured her they both knew what mutual ‘using’— they would be doing to each other. However, it was also this reason he figured he could trust her. Nowhere else on Earth would she find someone quite like him, he trusted in his own ego to persevere.

Many would have been intimidated by Odin for example, but Erebus was his right hand. How could a human achieve the recognition of entities like that— if they weren’t something special themselves. Erebus exuded confidence through any adversity, perhaps Val didn’t know it yet, but what she really would find addiction too was even deeper than surface level thirsting. She wanted carnage and bloodshed, and destruction of what she deemed her enemies.

She worshipped what he stood for already, it wouldn’t be the blood, but the charisma in his being. The longer they spent together, Erebus believed her temperament would resolve, but he was sure to carry her for a ride until that day settled on its own.

Erebus met her in the middle of their kiss. Pressing his lips against her bottom and pulling out the soft sensation that came with it. “I think it’s proof enough that you need something beyond your revenge and meals. Your lust can’t hide from me, I’ve marked you… and If you’re here, then you will participate for me, there’s simply no reason not too. You’re going to be apart of history.” He spoke softly and slowly, his words invasive and rather aggressive but his delivery was seductive to say the least. Eyeing her as he spoke, he allowed his irises to lower to her breasts and back up with a straight face that seemed to carry its own addictive charm.

Valeria Hildegard

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

Compared to the man sitting before her, Valeria was someone who was far from ambitious. Vengeful, however, was a word that manifested within her quite well. In a way, one could argue that her thirst for revenge was an ambitious feat indeed but she always associated the word with someone like Erebus; someone with the desire to succeed and dominate. The vampire, on the other hand, had no interest in victory. Her own loss would be acceptable so long as she was able to bring down her enemies. How she planned to do that was still unknown to her. For her, killing vampires was a temporary means of achieving peace and she was quite aware of that. Her thirst for revenge would never truly be satisfied until she dragged her true enemy to the depths of hell. It was her reason for living as long as she did.

The vampire had a lot of room for growth and she, herself, was quite aware of that. However, she never found herself wanting to rush into gaining power because she was always someone who enjoyed taking her time. Perhaps, in a way, she wanted to drag out her own goal because if she achieved it too soon, she would be left lost, wondering about her true purpose after vengeance. She wasn't quite sure if she was ready to face that feeling just yet. Valeria was not someone who enjoyed jumping into situations that were unknown to her. That was why she was slightly skeptical of Erebus' proposition.

While he was not an essential commodity to her, his potential use was quite overwhelming. For someone like Valeria, partnering with an ambitious individual such as Erebus might not be a bad thing. It seemed that even he was quite aware that his proposition truly held no disadvantage for the vampire other than making her life increasingly troublesome. However, she expected that as something inevitable as time passed even if it was not with the man before her. "How are you so sure that it's revenge that I want?" It was a genuine question. She had never truly told the man about her deepest desires and frankly, she had no intention of doing so. While she was akin to an open book, there was nothing he needed to know more than he already did.

Her true desires remained a secret, even to herself. Perhaps that's why the way he talked as if he knew irked her. As they parted their lips, she looked at him. "I think you're a bit too full of yourself, Erebus. Marked me? Don't kid yourself. While it is true that you do a good job of satisfying my hunger and my lust, they are things that I can live without." Her hand glided over his face, caressing his cheek. "Your mistake is assuming what kind of person I really am. I have no interest in being a part of a history made by someone else. But, that being said, I will join you because I do think that there's a lot more to be gained than lost. Whether that's actually true, I guess only time will tell. It's a good thing I have a lot of that"

Erebus

Erebus listened to her speak, and while she was attractive, her words ignited hostility in him. He was the manic sort, never fully adjusting to the command of anyone he didn’t trust. It seemed as though his thoughts about her were wrong, she wasn’t in his hand the way he had been falling into hers. This pissed him off, surely no one could control him. He was of free will. So as she caressed his cheek, his hands move up to her waist. One gripping her so that she couldn’t escape, the other was sent forth like lightning and would attempt roughly smacking her across the mouth, hard enough to draw her own blood and send her face in the opposite direction. If she attempted to block it was futile, his other hands would creep from between the cloak and catch to lock her wrists, she was at him whim and mercy this close. Erebus knee this, and after the escapade she had to know it as well. His expression was dead serious, neither depicting that he was fairly upset (though he was) nor enticed (though he quite adored someone with so much... angst)

“What makes you really think I care if you join. It was your proposal. Do you think I’ve nothing better to do than follow you around? I’m the most wanted man in the continent,” He let the words invade her thoughts like toxin from a snake bite. “This was your offer, these are my conditions.”

He was cold and eclipsing, if she retaliated then so too would he. In a demented form of the way she attempted to caress his face, he would grab her chin in just the same quickness he popped her so that she was staring eye and eye with him— this wasn’t to intimidate her. This was simply who he was, after the blood integrated into his personality, he was not one to spare women from his force. He didn’t like the way she spoke down on his being, although he craved her. He wouldn’t roll over and let her disrespect his proposition.

“It seemed obvious to me why you kill your own kind— it’s not like the most of you chose the gift, or in your eyes curse, am I right?” he finally spoke after a pause. Assuming she was going to listen to him. He’d speak further. “Valeria, I’m not here to play games about who gets what glory and I’m not going to trust any ‘witch’ that I think can betray me. Consider the deal off the table if you think you will. History is history, brought to life by more than one person. That doesn’t mean my history. Nor does it mean yours. It’s fate— and the names etched into the books are guided by those who work the hardest.” He finished up without remorse. “Chase your kind alone. If that’s all that sates you.”

Erebus would simply push her away, the full intention to just remove himself would in turn push her to the ground if she didn’t take her stepping correctly, and his daggers were hidden in his equipment if she attempted to collect his bounty or attack him in refute— he had come for nothing, he guessed. Valeria knew Erebus was not the respectful type so it shouldn’t bother her too much, it was in her best interests to watch herself around another monster.

Especially one who otherwisely wanted nothing but to help her. Perhaps, things were possible, perhaps they weren’t. But facing the world alone was hers to do is that is what she chose. He took that path himself once, and was offering her a better one. Should she not understand that, despite being older than him by a few decades, then he could not be bothered to care any longer. The image of her would be burned into his skull, but it could never take priority before all that he stood ahead. At least... he prayed that was true.

Sometimes— things must be put down quickly. If there is ever a hope to get over them.

Valeria Hildegard

well, i'm taking my time
i'm just moving along
you'll forget about me after i've been gone

Compared to the cold wind that blew across the pier, the man before her seemed colder. Once the words parted her lips, she watched as his expression hardened, making it difficult for her to read him. Valeria never really understood the man. Although he was renowned and infamous, there were so many layers to him that she couldn't reach. She had thought that she didn't want to peel them open, didn't want to truly see or understand the man but when she failed to understand him because of it, it irked her.

The sudden hit to her face sent a sharp, stinging pain across her jaw as her head moved to the other side from the impact. Her view had changed for she was no longer looking at Erebus but rather, listening to his words while the taste of her own blood invaded her mouth. Her wrists were clasped in his hands but even he would feel that she had no intention to retaliate. To say that she wasn't surprised would be a lie. The white-haired woman was indeed quite surprised but there was an apparent lack of disappointment in her expression. After all, she was familiar enough with him to know that it was coming even if she couldn't tell when. However, this sort of reaction to her words just made her imagine how he was going to have a tough time dealing with her.

Valeria had no intention of letting the man go. While she constantly found herself wanting to push him away, even she knew that she couldn't truly do so. Therefore, she pushed his buttons instead, and while she could argue that she didn't know why she did that; that would also be a lie. She wanted him to show his true colors that paint over the rising fear within her; the fear of getting closer to him. She knew that he was far from a good man but she needed a reminder, something to convince her to stay away. As he went on, she listened but only to realize that this was her reminder. However, it was failing to do what she wanted it to do.

Unlike the vampire, Erebus wasn't a liar. It was indeed her proposal and he tried to negotiate his conditions. While the conditions in themselves weren't unfavorable, Valeria was terrified of what accompanied them. She had spent so long secluding herself away from others, hiding behind the walls of revenge. She was so used to it that the proposition of having to break down those walls was a challenge to herself. The vampire never cared about bettering herself or becoming stronger. After all, she wasn't as ambitious as the man before her. She only craved revenge but even she knew that her goals had a limit. Too scared to face those limits, she further holed herself away.

As he turned her face towards him, returning her crimson gaze back to his own eyes which swirled with an emotion she couldn't quite pinpoint, she did glare at him. His words were like salt on her wounds, burning into her very existence as he pointed out her lack of choice. She really didn't have a choice, which had always fed into her evasion of risks. Her lack of choice in becoming what she was fueling her obsession to make the choice but even more so, to make the right choice. The reason she was at a crossroads with Erebus was that she didn't know if he was the right choice. The more she thought about it, however, the more she realized that letting him go didn't seem like the right choice either. As infuriating as he was, she was still the one who had chosen him. She had chosen him before she knew who he was, before she knew what he tasted like, and before she knew just how strong his hold on her would be.

His strength against her body as he pushed her away was not resisted. She found herself standing up, ensuring that she didn't stumble upon her own feet as she faced away from the man for a moment but she stayed that way, gazing at the open sea instead. "Erebus, do you know that my interest in the world is very limited? That's why it took me a while to recognize you but somehow, even before I knew who you were or tasted that God's blood that runs through your veins, I wanted you." Wiping the blood off her lips with her finger, she twirled to look at him. "You're right, I didn't have a choice in becoming what I am but I did have a choice with you. So yes, while you are replaceable to me, I don't think I can replace you." She paused, watching his reactions before continuing with a sigh. "You want my loyalty? I will gladly give it to you but to think I'll betray you? I'm a little flattered that you think so highly of me." A small chuckle escaped her lips. "I'm not nearly as driven to be capable of doing something like that. That's also why I don't want to be a part of any history; not yours, not even mine. I don't like the idea of the past. But, if it's the future that you want to build, I will gladly join you on that road. I don't know what kind of future it is that I want but having one sounds like a good start."

She took a step towards him, leaning closer to his face. "I might not be driven but I am quite selfish. I will give you my loyalty and be useful to you in return for you. Your blood, your body, your attention and your respect; all of it. My offer still stands. You didn't mark me but one of your many sins was messing with a monster. I didn't really have a choice in becoming this so I hope you don't blame me too much for refusing to let you go." Her hand found its way back to his face. It was up to him whether he resisted or not but she would use her strength to grab his jaw and pull him closer. Her voice dropped down to a whisper as she leaned closer to his face. "Although you might have to work on your rage because there is a limit to how much I will tolerate."

Erebus

Changes of heart were long and far between. Valeria prolonged her night with him and spoke from her heart. She simply wished to be wanted, without the pain of finding herself attached… Erebus assumed that was the jist of it after she was finished; having felt the sting from his hand against her mouth and the frostbite of his cold shoulder on her heart. He didn’t have to say much else, he let the Vampire speak her case, facing the direction opposite of where she stood, the blonde’s pleading— and begging for a chance to reconcile amused the War God’s Chosen, she had yet to find her reason to live and it seemed she was beginning to find one in allegiance with the darkest disciple, Erebus Gresham.

He could almost relate to her refusal to chase anything but revenge, if it hadn’t been for Odin’s careful consideration and his dragging Erebus along, the Rogue would have faded into the background after his use to Zagan finished and ran dry of it’s course. Yet, two-to-three years after the fact, he was a thousand times more powerful than he was then. Valeria wasn’t after power though, she was desperate for something more meaningful, she craved adventure, and his golden blood, which different both him— she could clean his wounds, and they could share something in the middle.

“... Better. I‘ll be in Oak then, two days from now— and don’t be late.” Shrugging, Erebus pushed his pipe back into his pockets and moved on with himself, however. He didn’t go that far.

Lingering just on the outskirts of her field of her sensory at all given times, he stalked her movements and her tendencies to learn her. Erebus didn’t necessarily care about her emotional feelings (yet...), but he did wish for her to make a safe passage home. She was a valuable ally, and if her last words were true, he was living in her head rent free. If that was the case, she would surely be the closest thing to a lover and trustable partner he’d found thus far. Something about that... Perhaps rubbed him the right way, even though she had previously set him off.

It was simply up to time now whether their connection meant success. World domination, in one hand, relied upon these two getting along. Erebus decided that he would show her loyalty so long as loyalty returned in due form (as much as he could, that is). He had one last comment for her before he left completely, stopping about twenty feet or perhaps more to let her hear his last thoughts. His head tilted to the right to show his target of dialogue was her, “Don’t expect any apologies for how I am, you won’t find remorse dwelling in this heart... I will help you achieve your goals. Your warning is already in effect, the way I see things, there’s little more I have to remind you of... I do want you Valeria, I want you in many ways to be frank, Valeria Hildegard— you’ll find a way to adjust to the demands of your fate. Your strength and your company— for my blood and resources. Consider your deal sealed.” He lifted a hand up as if to wave, making a slow exit through the shadows. His steps soundless as the night.

-END & EXIT-
