Noel

Noel had been in Hosenka for a few months now. He had been settling into the usual places, and started getting to know its people. This city was particularly themed, it reminded him of his homeland. Joya. Some of its traditions were adopted here, albeit in  Fiorian fashion. These people were quite interesting, and he wanted to learn more.

During a peculiar evening at a bar late at night, Noel had been sitting alone. Smoking a cigarette, and drinking sake - remembering the ones he had lost and whispering a blessing to them.

There was another set of people, seated diagonally across from him. They were shady, Noel could tell by the way they conversed. Very inwards, looking around them occasionally making sure nobody spied. Unintentionally, Noel felt involved in what they were doing. The bar started to empty out, as Noel laid an eye to their conversation. The two decided to leave, Noel followed a minute after. Though he was stopped at the door by someone he didn't expect.

A man held his arm in front of the entrance Noel tried to use to leave -- in an attempt to catch more of the conversation he heard prior. Instinctively the tall Blue Pegasi mage backed down. The stranger opened his leather coat, revealing some form of police badge on the inside. He extended two fingers and curled them inwards - a somewhat usual 'follow - me' indication. He then pointed with his thumb at the stairs behind him. 'Follow'

Noel did as he said, and followed the detective to the first floor where they sat at a table next to a window overlooking the street. "We've been following them for quite a while. Didn't want you to blow our lead." The detective tapped on the window glass, Noel noticed a burglar looking henchman poorly follow the 'lead' that the detective just described - that being the two strangers at the bar. The Blue Pegasi mage raised a brow

Their modus operandi was poor for sure, Noel felt like he could help. He wasn't aware of the so called delicacy of the situation, and explained to the detective that he could be of great assistance if he knew what it was about. Why were those two men being followed in omnious fashion? The detective begun elaborating on that couple; implying they were being followed for quite a time due to links to a certain 'repeat' murder. Noel hadn't dabbled in criminal science before, repeat murders are quite unusual - that he knew, as most murders happen in the heat of the moment. The police were worried that such murderer was on the loose, and they were trying everything to find them before the public knows about it.

Noel offered his services, for payment, for the apprehension of the criminals involved. The detective scoffed, not believing in his abilities and accepting the offer. He put his finger on the window, indicating that the two had moved up the street as they were talking. As he faces back Noel, the Blue Pegasi mage had already vanished from his seat.

Noel had turned himself into a crow, using his special Raven Night ring -- which excelled at missions such as these. His first task was reconnaissance, learn the group & their habits. He escaped from the bar window the detective was just pointing at, giving him an indication of their location. By the time the detective realised Noel was gone, he already was in the air following the duo and occasionally landing on rooftops to track them into the depth of the night life. Eventually the duo wound up at a stripclub. Noel used his crow form to snag a coat from a clothing vendor that was closing up shop and equipped it to somewhat mask his identity. He entered the same club a few minutes later. The two he had followed were sitting in a backroom, Noel walked past by the door and recognized the voices - but continued walking as to not startle them.

He ordered a private lap dance and snuck away when it was done, using one of his many spells to stick his feet to the ceilings and walk across the outer wall to the room the meeting was being held in.

He held his ear close to the window, and began listening in to the meeting. After a few minutes, it became apparent that they were some sort of crime syndicate. They were discussing how they got rid of some bodies. Noel heard the details and was quite concerned, it didn't seem like they felt it was a bad thing. They were being rewarded quite well. A mention of the name was dropped - the one who had been paying them to dispose the bodies. Noel took a good mental note and continued to listen to their otherwise regular criminal activities. There were some other names in there, but they weren't as nearly as interesting as the ones tied to the bodies. After an hour or two, the meeting was coming to a halt. It was concluded.

Noel used his gravitational manipulation to sneak away from the wall -- and depart in his raven form. He sped towards the location of the bodies one of the henchmen mentioned. It sounded like they were talking about a fresh dump of corpses.

And sure enough, Noel still saw the visible digging spots around the location they described. He went back to the bar to inform the detective about what he had found and what leads he was investigating. But, he also demanded half the money up front -- as he had uncovered the gang that was responsible for dumping of the bodies. Not only that, but the name that paid the syndicate for disposing those bodies. The detective was quite impressed and agreed with the idea, as long as Noel rolled up who was responsible for this at the end of his investigation. Having received half his payment, Noel then headed out to try and gather more leads about what was going on in the bustling city night life of Hosenka. It had seemed that the repeat murderer was interested in adventurers. A very specific type, Noel thought. There were too many in this city to feasibly attract the attention of this supposed killer by running around as bait.

Though he did stop by the hall in which most adventurers acquired quests to see if there were any mysterious people around. Only the clerk and two looking for quests themselves sadly. None seemed suspicious.

Noel begun pretending he was the parent of an adventurer who had gone missing, asking the clerk if they knew anything about them having been here. They didn't seem familiar to the clerk, and Noel nodded - leaving and continuing his search. Something seemed off though - were these people being targeted upon entry into Hosenka? Perhaps it was the work of a few powerful mages wanting to retain all of the available quests to themselves? It didn't make much sense, but Noel did some research into the name that was dropped at the meeting and soon found the originator of it, a floor above the quest hall there was a room rented by someone who had that name.

So, once it was late at night Noel decided to sneak into the closed quest hall and break into the first floor. He'd use his trusty lockpick to gain entry and then made his way up. Once he reached the first floor he begun looking for the room that his intelligence had pointed out to him.

He looked through the key hole of the room and noticed a female figure, they were tied down to a chair. Nobody else seemed to be in the room, Noel heard the wooden floor panels crack from the hallway. He sneakily hid himself in the shadows and long curtains as a person was approaching the room he was just spying on. Maybe they were the killer? But a shrill screech confirmed anything but. Noel fled the hall, he had most likely been spotted by the real kidnapper who had left before he could have seen them. Noel chased after a figure he could see running from the corner of his eye once on the street.

He transformed into his raven once again, and laid pursue throughout the streets of Hosenka. A piece of their clothing became torn, and Noel found it a few streets past the hall. It was smooth, silky.

The lead fell cold there. Noel returned to the hall one day later to discover that the clerk who was there yesterday apparently quit their job last night. Interesting; they had also been seen wearing the piece of silk Noel showed the boss of the hall. In their application there was a list of possible clues Noel could look further into; such as their referral, their previous employment and an address. He chose the address first, but by the time he arrived at her home address. The place was ransacked. Noel couldn't figure out the motives that was driving this culprit. But he was hot on their tail, that he was sure of.

He headed back into town and talked to their referral, who indicated that they never seemed suspicious at all. A similar story was told at the last place they had a job at. The lead was turning cold again, until coincidentally Noel saw the former clerk on the street again, missing a chunk of their silk. Instead of immediately apprehending them, Noel decided to track.

Perhaps they weren't the mastermind behind this operation? Maybe more innocent than appeared. So, Noel continued to follow this figure around all sorts of roads and streets. They had gone into a building which Noel staked out of, and if they were in there for longer than 5 minutes he'd decide to spy and listen for conversation. Nothing much interesting was said. Though when they entered a large mausoleum of sorts, Noel became very interested. He'd use his gravity to wrap himself against the walls to climb up the ceiling and listen in. There were four people there, all henchmen of a serial murderer as they described it. Noel began taking some notes, as lots of interesting stuff was said and he couldn't remember all of it to fine detail.

Either way it seemed that this was the big break through the detective was searching for. The hair pin that tied it all together. All of that chaos and violence. The head of this group was a mademoiselle -- somewhat eery.

They were interested in sapping the blood of young adventurers to retain eternal youth. Definitely creepy, and very much something a vampire would do. So, in true werewolf fashion Noel would come down collapsing the ceiling into the vampires and instantly killing them all, save for their ring leader - the uber vampire.

Their fight was ferocious, but at the end Noel was pulling ahead first. They fought atop the rubble that had caved in the rest of the building. The ruckus was alerting some of the neighbors and people that lived around the mausoleum. Once the dust had been settled, it was clear Noel was the victor. He carried the head of the vampire by its hair in his hand like a true good mage would. Since this vampire was the root cause of the various adventurers disappearing into the night he thought this job was completed and over. He headed back to the detective.

The detective which approved this job was at the bar, who was very satisfied with how the job turned out. Noel even restored the ceiling of the place by using his gravity -- nobody there was any the wiser about what had happened there outside of the locals who lived around the area and saw what had happened. Those vampire shrieks were not forgotten so easily. Noel was given his full reward and cashed it in. It wasn't a very hard job, things like what he did to solve this was only possible after years of experience in this field. He had mastered this art quite a while ago -- it seemed easy, but it was hard gaining all of this experience in the first place. Luckily it came with a good bount.

He wasn't sure how he was going to spend the money from this job yet though. It was time to broaden his horizons and see what else was happening in the world a little. Something he had been doing since he was a young man. Exploration was key.

Though as he was investigating other clues into the crime unfolding in Hosenka he heard some other rumours that interested him; there was a new guild that focused on issues like the ones Noel had solved in Hosena -- there was a pattern of these activities that became noticed to them. He expressed his interest in this guild and received a letter a few weeks later pertaining to this idea. So he decided to join and see what step was to be next in the continuation of his story. Noels story. A man who once started out as a medical doctor in Lamia Scale; having joined Advent World into Blue Pegasus where he has made his home for the last few years of his life.

But, to all good things had to come an end -- and he decided that Crime Sorciére was the next step in his story. Unbound and with an ambition as deep as it could be. He had longed for something new in his life, and this association with a somewhat new crew could just be exactly that.

From the stories he's heard being passed around it did seem like they perfectly matched his own MO. Whether he realized it or not, they were his kind of folk; good fighters who fight for the side of justice and not their own evil moral agenda. Noel was a decorated war hero, and was most likely to be accepted into a crew such as this. But he wasn't quite sure yet. So he decided to travel once more to a new location in order to sniff out the potential of such plan.

And also write a letter to his former guild master Alisa - it would be the least thing he could do, letting her know via a letter that he was most likely going to resign from his position in the guild. It wasn't as if she would easily find out otherwise. So Noel was going to do this simple courtesy for the time being, and see where this entire idea would pan out. Maybe they would cross paths in the future again, and he could explain to her in person what had shaped his mind. After all, this wasn't such a grand change of plan. Noel was getting old -- maybe even looking for a place where he could eventually settle down and remain a respected mage throughout the entirety of this desolate world. It was hard to predict a future so turbulent as Noels though, as his potential had no limit -- who knew where he'd wound up once the dust had been settled.
