HomeThe light from the impromptu bonfire that the two fire mages had started illuminated the cavern in a ghastly reddish green light. The flicker of the flames casting ominous shadows over all three mages as the beast wailed in pain and agony as the two essentially attempted to burn its entire essence away. Seika would not let up on the creature, even as it began to collapse under its own burnt rotting flesh, the creature literally incapable of holding itself together under its own weight as it fell over and became the base of the bonfire. The fleshy growths that it spawned soon treated to a similar fate as the bonfire spread to them all. The stench that had filled the cavern was definitely a bit of concern, the trio likely inhaling some dangerous fumes during their battle. It was a few minutes later when Shichiro had finally stood up from his fiery onslaught that Seika would also stop firing off rapid fireballs. The three would await any response from the slowly growing pile of ash before agreeing that leaving the area as quickly as possible was the best course of action now. With Shichiro once again taking the lead, Seika would reignite his pilot light and fall in line behind him, leaving the brightly burning pyre behind him. The sooner they left this accursed place the better.

"Phew, well that was a spectacle. Good job guys, let's get out of here if that's all we have to do." Keita would say, looking at the now burning pile of ashes that used to be a number of undead, including a large mother looking strange thing that Keita would rather not have in his memory at the current moment, but they were here now, and so he actually enjoyed the way that the charcoal smoldered the way that it did. Still, there was something cathartic about watching that horrifying thing rapidly turn into dust, and so Keita stood there looking at it for a few more moments when the other two started walking towards the other tunnel that they came in from, and so he was the last one through the tunnel.
His wisps would still be lighting the way for people, and so they were going to be fine on the lighting front, just in case this other tunnel had more undead, which it might, considering this place was found somehow right? Keita would periodically check behind him, as he wasn't sure if the creature was all the way dead, and it was better to be safe than sorry, before walking through the tunnel towards hopefully an exit.

Walking through the tunnels, Shichiro figured it was best for him to stop thinking too hard about it and just go with the first option that comes to mind. Placing his hands into his pockets, he began to daydream as he continued to walk through the catacombs. He didn't know how long they were down there but eventually, he managed to lead them back to a more familiar(?) part of the catacombs. Making his way back to the dungeon door, Shichiro had opened it and began to traverse a spiral stairwell with torches lit up on the walls. Walking up the stairs, he had come back to a familiar trap door that led him back to the church.
Coming up from under the podium, Shichiro decided to sit on one of the benches that had been lined up in rows. Shichiro had pondered on this for a while but he realized he's never seen people actually attend sermons or even come into the church to pray. That wasn't his concern though and decided he should address his teammates before leaving. "Alright, I think we did it. A job well done now then, we should receive our payment by tomorrow so go home and get some rest. We'll be moving to another region soon." With that, Shichiro had gotten up and exited the church.
[Exit.]

It was a bit of silence that he could appreciate as it meant he was left to his own thoughts and devices. With his flare in hand, he was allowed to reflect on facing the eldritch abomination that was a Droag. The accursed being definitely did not belong in Sol's light, and light above would he never let such a thing reach the surface. It actually raised his heckles that the Church of Illumin seemed to allow such feral beasts to exist in the first place and didn't put an emphasis on exterminating the vermin. It was things like this that made him realize that prioritizing converting the heathens in this foul land to Sol was the right thing to do. If only to save them from their heretical neighbors.

It wasn't enough that Keita wouldn't be able to escape it, but it was definitely going to be a problem for the denizens underneath the church, and maybe the church itself if the problem wasn't solved in a fast enough manner. But with the overall objective of flushing out the filth, Seika didn't care how it was done.
With his self appointed task finished, the young man would exit the catacombs behind his current team leader and listen in on his new marching orders. Apparently they would be moving out to a new base of operations after todays mission. Nodding in acknowledgement of this, he would proceed to exit the chapel altogether, the sooner he was out of this place the better.

Keita was walking down the rather dank tunnel, the smell of the rotting flesh that was burnt still fresh on his mind, when they noticed some sort of stairs upwards, which was a very good sign. They had only been down here for a couple of minutes, but Keita felt like that was enough time for a week or so due to the circumstances, and so he definitely wanted to get up there, if for nothing else than the fresh air that would be provided when they actually got out of this hell hole. It didn't help that this place seemed to be linked to the sewers in some way, or maybe it was the rotting flesh that smelled like literal feces. Regardless, Keita wanted out, and the stairs were a welcome sight.
They headed up the stairwell, and soon they were face to face with a trap door, and he noticed that this one was the same one that he had went down when he had done a similar request earlier, but there was not a monster here the last time, nor did he notice the slide that brought him down here this time. This was strange, but he did not have the brain power to figure that out, and just nodded to Shichiro. "Seeya Shichiro, I need a bath after this. Good working with you Seika." Keita said, even though the guy was silent the entire time.
