Masami

喜多正美

He could've sword walking pass the homunculus multiple times already, yet it was a selfish decision to keep the creature with no company. When Masami could no longer handle the guilt, he had went back to it, hoping that he could help in a verbal way. To the boy's disappointment, the homunculus could not understand Masami, neither could the boy understand the creature back. The only choice left for the Rune Knight was to deliver the creature to its' owner, whom was, most likely, Lady Merlin—Masami had met her before, and knowing the mysterious vibe she gives, including the odd habits she had shown, there was no doubt that she is included in this phenomena.

The homunculus reacted oddly to Masami's words when he had called Lady Merlin's name, as if saying that Masami had gotten the correct answer. The boy didn't have to carry the homunculus as if he was a broken robotic, so he had instead made sure that the creature continued to follow the boy's trail on the way to Mercurius, the place where he had encountered Lady Merlin the first time. Nevertheless, as much as the creature differentiated from a broken program, it has been showing signs of similarity, making Masami afraid that the creature might truly end up causing a ruckus. For fortune's sake, Masami's fear had not turned into a reality; although it was not an entirely smooth journey, Masami and the homunculus arrived at Mercurius. Even the guards did not know what to ask, so they had left Masami take the lead to his liking. It was either Masami's reputation or the presence of the homunculus that disallowed the two from being halted—it was a good thing, but questionable. At such a well-known place, shouldn't safety be a little more stricter?

Successfully, the homunculus was brought to Lady Merlin, and it was questionable for Masami at how easy to found the woman was. She was supposed to be a mysterious character—someone who disappears and reappears at any abrupt second—her facial expressions when she saw the broken creation were unidentifiable to Masami. The boy wasn't sure if she was being sympathetic, or if she was disappointed, that she had to immediately create a potion, to fix the homunculus or to hide that she had made any mistakes? Too seriously—Masami was taking the scenario all-too-seriously. Perhaps this wasn't a bad choice after all: to question whether or not an act of responsibility is meant to do good, or if they are only forced to do so to avoid the consequences. Not that anything was wrong with it—seeing the next step worried Masami this time. Empathy is supposed to force the person to place themselves in the shoes of others, yet Masami wished that he hadn't seen himself get strapped on the stiff chair, as he stopped Lady Merlin from placing the homunculus within it.

Since he was the naïve character, he was the timid child that was forced to abide by the will of an adult. Thus, he had switched places and in an instant, the homunculus struggles as it keeps itself intact inside the chair, screaming as if it was painful. There was a point where Masami considered burning the homunculus instead, just so the pain would end, but he chose to trust the older woman and hope that the lady's wisdom ends up being the best choice in the end. They were going to force the potion down the homunculus and the thought wasn't such a beautiful scene to Masami's eyes from within his consciousness. He was definitely just tired tonight.

Masami

There was no doubt, Lady Merlin seemed as if she was disappointed, rather than feeling sympathetic towards the creation that had failed—Masami wasn't even sure if the creature was her creation, and why it was out in the public air. Maybe this is one of Lady Merlin's mysterious traits, as she was a woman that kept her identity to herself, and the unpredictability was starting to annoy Masami. And, as if he was struck by a panic attack, had jumped a little on his place when Lady Merlin had done such an abrupt thing; when she had finally forced the potion onto the homunculus' mouth, and made sure that the creature consumed everything that was in the bottle, had caused Masami to question if the noise that is occurring at the moment would bother the neighboring units. Perhaps Lady Merlin knew that this would happen, and casted a spell that locks the noise from within, so that they would not disturb anyone else? Only now Masami had realized that he had apparently grown some trust towards the "annoyingly unpredictable" woman.

Then, as quick as that, the homunculus seems to be back as a normal human being, and acted as if it was one, too. Masami removed the hands that covered his eyes without his notice, and had enough courage as to look at the creature from head to toe. The homunculus seemed alright, as if the past of Masami walking pass the suspicious creature multiple times had not happened—now wasn't the time to feel guilty, however. Then, Masami was thanked for his kindness, yet Masami did not completely fall for the words and believe that he truly did do such a kind task. He didn't want to see himself being tricked into thinking that he was a kind person. If ever, it was better if he was told that he was not such a good child. Ah, truly, it would have been better that way.

Lady Merlin's wealth was free for Masami's palms, and he was a little boy thus she gave more than she usually does. Masami left Mercurius thinking he had done a good deed, because he didn't want to tire himself believing that he was being deceived—or was his mind deceiving himself? Then, it was only when he was back to Crocus' alleys that he'd realized that throughout the mission, he had not spoken.
