Floor of the Warrior Kobolds

The enemies of this floor are Warrior Kobolds. Unlike the weak goblins of other floors, Kobolds are physically strong humanoid beasts that dedicate their entire lives to fighting and polishing their skills. Standing in their two legs at 1.7 meters height, most Warrior Kobolds are fairly proficient in the use of weapons and armor in combat. Only a few of them specialize in combat magic though, able to fire offensive spells against their enemies or buff their allies.

Floor Description: The Floor of the Warrior Kobolds appears as the heart of an active volcano, rivers, and pools of lava flood a 200 by 50 meter area. There are numerous large patches of hardened rock here and there, making for stepping ground in an otherwise unpassable terrain.

Objective: As soon as you enter the place, a Kobold Shaman will detect your presence and cast a spell that makes the lava rise slowly. Defeat all of the Warrior Kobolds and leave through the large door that appears before the lava level rises enough to cover the entire floor.

Difficulty: Medium or Hard

Enemies: There are a bunch of Warrior Kobolds scattered across the floor wielding rare weapons and armor. Some of them are armed with bows, so be careful of their ranged attacks. The Warrior Kobolds are stronger than the average human and are able to fight proficiency in the terrain. Furthermore, there is a group of 5 Shaman Kobolds that are able to use fire magic to cast long-range attacks and buff the rest of their allies' stats.

Hidden Objective: Each participant may roll one dice after each post starting at their 2nd post. Should they roll a number above 95 they claim a Custom Unique. The first person in the team rolling above 95 gets the reward. Others are no longer eligible.

Steel had been transported to the dungeon known as Zagan’s treasury by some magical means. Last thing he remembered he was in south fiore in the city of marigold but now he was in north fiore in the vast forest of worth woodsea, A team of people from Fairy Tail it seemed. Steel knew this because of a weird feeling in his guild tattoo. It was as if the tattoo was calling on able members of his guild to support him in this endeavour. He was sure that Lucas would come. He had after all felt that Lucas was a person of real strength. He knew this because Lucas had radiated an aura of confidence unlike any Steel had met before. It felt as if Lucas was even more confident in his abilities than Steel’s old master.

Steel was wearing his super suit and above that he wore a layer of chainmail and his vanguards armor. It was a full plate armor and consisted of all the necessary pieces that were required for such an armor. Pauldrons, a breastplate, vambraces, gauntlets, couter, fauld of four lames, tassets, cuisses, greaves and sabatons.

He was also wielding a sword that was far too big to be called a longsword or maybe even too big to be called a two handed sword. It was two meters in length and thirty centimeters wide. It looked like a big lump of iron sharpened for killing. However it did have some odd shapes to it. Near the cross guard there was a half moon circle that was sharpened. It was probably used for the execution of enemies whilst almost at the edge of the blade there was a round hole that was used probably for tying the blade so that it could be hung from the carrier's body. Steel however was holding it in one of his hands and leaning it over his shoulder.

Whenever his teammates would arrive he would greet them. “Hello my name is Steel, I am a Fairy Tail mage. it seems we were all transported here for the same reason so let's get this over with.” After saying that he would turn his attention towards the large doors of the dungeon. When getting near them and placing his hand on it he would be teleported to a floor of the dungeon. Whoever of his party that came after him would be teleported to the same place.

He was suddenly inside of what seemed like the heart of a volcano. It was a two hundred by fifty meter area with pools and rivers of lava that flooded the entire space. The only thing anyone in it had to stand on were patches of hardened rock that made for good stepping stones.  Luckily for Steel he was capable of easily seeing his goal. A Kobold shaman that noticed Steel as he entered the dungeon and started raising the level of the lava slowly. Kill the bad guys, get the loot and get out.

Mary Wraith
Soon, another figure appeared before the armored man, pulled into this dungeon by unseen forces. It slumped on the floor, limp and lifeless. Not even breathing... However, soon enough the vague shape stirred. It rose upright, revealing the shapely silhouette of a woman. Her dark dress nearly swept the floor. Long and messy hair framed deathly pale features and cascaded down her back. Pale violet eyes peered around, unblinking. It was hard to say whether the dark circles were from a terrible lack of sleep or merely makeup. Those who were observant might spot a second pair of eyes, simply two white dots, peeking from her roomy sleeve. As an eerie detail, none of her motions made any sound. Her entire presence was completely soundless, like she wasn’t even there.

When the young man introduced himself as Steel, the ghoulish woman stared back blankly. Silent seconds slipped by slowly... Eventually her lips parted, revealing a row of absurdly sharp teeth. From the depths of her throat crawled a raspy groan. “Maaaaa.... ryyyyyy...” It took a haunting echo from the dungeon walls. After an awkward pause, she cleared her throat... And tried again. Poking and twiddling her index fingers together, she bowed her head politely. “M-mary Wraith... F-fairy Tail mage as well... N-nice to meet you...” Anxiety bubbled inside her like a boiling cauldron. Besides Judith and Zane, she hadn’t met any of the notable Fairy Tail members before. W-what if she embarrassed herself? Or disappointed them? The mere thought made her quiver...

Mary was having a hard time understanding what was going on right now. Just moments prior she had been in her bed, wrapped in blankets and lamenting lost love... Her favorite pastime. So why was she now here? And where exactly was here? The flowing lava and rising heat brought the word volcano to mind... She tugged her sweater collar with heavy breaths. One could actually see the wisps of steam rising from her sweaty skin. Oh dear, she was no good with heat. Naturally she had pictured the possibility of dying from heatstroke, but admittedly she had imagined it under more... peaceful circumstances. A lava bath sounded like a rather painful way to go.

Still, the ghastly mage was much too meek to complain. Rather, she tried to follow the example set by the braver adventurers. Mimicking Steel, she too attempted to stay on the stepping stones. Fortunately, her small hops were swifter and lighter than her quivering appearance suggested. She scanned their surroundings and upon spotting the hostile creatures let out a startled squeak. Something told her guests were not welcome here...

Odin †

If there was one thing Odin had come to hate the most during his time as a mage, it was the occasions when he was randomly taken from wherever he was and placed somewhere else without any prior information or permission. It was only due to a feeling he got from his guild tattoo that he had placed his Necran Ring over one finger and changed from Odin to Lucas: thankfully he had simply been wandering the outlying lands of Marigold when the warning came. He arrived just in time to see another mage, whom he did not recognise, place her hands on the large doors of whatever this was and disappear inside.More teleportation, you loved to see it.

Taking a brief moment to look around, Lucas would try and collect as much information as he could. From the looks of the tall trees, Worth Woodsea. It couldn't be a forest because the large building in front of the man was known to the people: Zagan's Treasury. It had appeared out of nowhere many years ago, but no one had been able to get inside until, apparently, right now. Perhaps it was challenging all the strong mages of Fiore, or perhaps only Fairy Tail was getting this chance. Regardless of why it was happening now, the only option able to Lucas was clear. Donning his gauntlets -the preferred weapon of the human Lucas- which would give him increased speed, strength and explosive power, a hand would be placed onto the doors of the dungeon, inviting the mage in.

Having been surprised by the sudden change in scenery, Lucas almost lost his footing the instant he appeared, which would've caused a very uncomfortable plunge into lava. He corrected his position, placing his feet on some of the rocks that stood out from the lava pools, and scanned the area. He saw allies: the girl from before and Steel, and also enemies: kobold creatures that seemed to be preparing an attack on the mages, having been alerted by what looked like a kind of shaman. The task at hand seemed fairly simple, as this was a treasury after all. Kill the kobolds, ideally before drowning in lava, and then the loot would, hopefully, make itself known to them. Either way, the kobolds would have to die first, because it didn't seem likely that they were going to be particularly friendly to the trespassers in their volcano land.

Why did random teleportation seem to happen to Zane so much? Well, perhaps it didn't happen ALL the time, but more than once was certainly too much for him. Was this just a Fiore thing? Was it time to get out of this godforsaken country? That was going to have to be a question saved for later. The first priority now was to get out of this place. Zane already saw one familiar face, Mary. He nodded towards her a bit in a way of saying hello.  There was another man that seemed to introduce himself as well. Zane didn't recognize him, but that was something to be expected. He had been away from the guild for the most part for quite some time now. Still, he had a feeling that this guy was probably telling the truth. After all, if someone were going to lie about being in a guild, why in the world would they bother picking Fairy Tail? Zane loved the guild, but it definitely wasn't the most impressive in the world, that was for sure...

The attentions had been brought to the giant entrance ahead of them. Something told Zane that there usually weren't many good things waiting behind huge doors like that one. His habit of enjoying fantasy novels was enough to back this up. He was sure there would probably be some life risking perils right on the other side... Sighing as he approached the door, Zane knew that this was probably going to be the only way to proceed. He really didn't like these situations where he had to do stuff like that, but if it was needed he didn't really have a choice. It could be worse, after all. From the looks of it he had 3 guildmates with him here - or 2, at least. The last one did not say anything about that, nor did Zane recognize him. It could simply be possible that the man in questions was just quiet. Taking his revolver in his right hand, Zane took a deep breath as he held his hand out. "Well, here goes nothing..."

Zane was once again dropped somewhere he couldn't expect, having already gotten tired of that gimmick. He had to jump around for a moment on some small rocks, having almost lost his cool upon landing. Zane was having this feeling that doing so probably saved his life - after all, that lava definitely looked like it wouldn't just give him a little burn. Getting a good layout of the situation, Zane held his revolver out. He'd let his guildmates make the first shot here. He had a feeling he'd most likely end up picking off the stragglers with his gun. There was Fairy Glitter of course, but... that was a last case scenario. The spell was powerful, but it definitely took a lot out of him.

Steel

Steel hopped to one rock and then another rock slowly making his way upwards to get as far away from the lava as possible seeing as the rock he had been standing on was slowly being devoured by the rising lava. He looked back at the people he had come here with. They were Lucas, Mary and someone who hadn’t introduced themselves earlier. Then he raised his voice and semi shouted to them “Well I think we all know what to do, Let’s get this done!”

After shouting that he jumped up towards the nearest kobold and whilst in the air readied his sword attacking three times in succession and cleaving the kobold in half as fast as he got up to it. They were big but Steel was bigger and the weight of his sword coupled with his own enhanced strength made the sword almost swing seemingly easily through whatever armor was protecting the kobolds.

After having attacked the first one Steel tried to look for how he was going to path his way to the next enemy and just as he was thinking that he could see a magic circle forming a fair bit away out of the corner of his eye. Out of the magic circle a big ball of fire formed that shot towards Steel.

Steel had to run and jump to the nearest rock to get out of the way, the big fireball had still been close enough when it exploded that the shockwave propelled Steel further onto a rock with a Kobold that seemed well equipped. It was wielding a cleaver in one hand and a shield in the other. Just as Steel landed it slammed its cleaver down in his general direction and were it not for the fact that Steel’s sword being so big he probably wouldn’t have been able to block it. As when he had landed he had had to have his sword above his body otherwise it would have been in the way of his feet landing and touching the ground.

Steel was “safe” for now but there wasn’t a lot of room to stand on here where he wasn’t under constant bombardment of the kobolds cleaver and he could even see that the kobold shamans that had cast the fireball spell earlier were gearing up for another one. Steel used all his strength to quickly dash into the “cleaver kobold” and elbowed it, shoving it down into the lava below and as he did that he jumped to the next rock.

Mary Wraith
Hop, hop, hop... From foothold to foothold... With careful leaps the ghastly woman managed to somehow keep up the pace. Unfortunately, the sudden declaration startled her and she nearly fell right into the lethal bath. Arms flailing, she barely kept her balance. Once the immediate danger was... well, not over, but... postponed, she cast a hesitant look towards the man known as Steel. A meek question trailed through the air. “W-we do...?” Because she certainly didn’t know. This had all happened so quickly. She had no idea how to deal with all this... However... She would much rather face the kobolds than the crushing anxiety of actually asking.

After a couple of more hops, the creepy mage managed to land on a plateau of sorts. The slowly rising lava was licking the edges, but she could stop and catch her breath for a moment. ...Or not. While Steel was doing great work drawing attention, not all aggro was directed at him. “...Eep!” With a pitiful squeak, the grim girl lunged to the side and narrowly avoided a fireball whizzing past. It passed close enough to singe her hair. Worse yet, while she was trying to recover her footing, a well-armored kobold wielding a club spotted her. It stomped closer. 10 meters... 7 meters... 5 meters...

Mary turned her attention onto the armored monster before her and started twiddling her fingers together nervously. “E-excuse me, good sir...” A magic seal formed at her feet, depicting a grim skull. Her eyes lit up with a baleful glow and voice gained a haunting echo. “After you die, would you prefer to be buried or cremated?” The unsettling question didn’t give the creature much pause, unsurprisingly. But... Something else did... The woman’s shadow suddenly stretched over the distance, latching onto the foe’s shadow like a biting snake. Another skull appeared behind the kobold, looming as an omen of death. It brought the victim chills as their constitution dropped.

While the cleaver-wielding creature hesitated, the ghoulish woman... did nothing else. She just kept twiddling her fingers like it was some sort of nervous tick. Or a sustaining ritual. As long as she did it, any kobold that got near her was marked for death. If one died, she would shift her attention to the next one. Unfortunately, she had no means of killing them on her own. Her physical strength was pitiful. Someone else would have to pick up her slack.

Odin †

Having clearly taken on the mantle of team leader, Steel's voice echoed throughout the heart of the volcano where the Fairy Tail guild found themselves, signalling for combat to begin. He instantly moved towards some of the kobolds, cutting them down with about as much grace as one with a ridiculously large blade could, which meant it was probably time for Odin to do something similar. They had been joined by one more mage, who looked strikingly similar to someone Odin had attacked back during his Grimoire Heart days. Perhaps it was just the blonde hair, since the Lich had been far away when he sent out the attack, but it brought back a fun memory of his terrorist days, long before HER and many years before Fairy Tail.

The third member of their group, the small girl that, if not for the fact she was moving, Odin would probably think dead, seemed to weaken one of the kobolds with a club, suited up with intimidating looking armour. She wasn't far away from Lucas, and it didn't seem like she'd be able to defeat the kobold by herself. Thankfully, it looked like she had weakened the creature to the point where it wouldn't take that much more from anyone else to assist her. Lucas felt the mana flowing throughout his body, and supplied a small amount to his gauntlets. Lightning began to flash from his eyes, and his pupils became brighter for a brief moment, as he dashed towards the beast. With the ability to move about twenty five metres in the singular motion, he easily cleared the distance, but he wasn't finished. He was not just dashing towards the kobold, he was going through it. Dashing forward, his fist moving at the same speed as his feet, the beast was eviscerated: there was nothing left of it. Blood and gore splattered all over the mage, coating his cloak in kobold entrails, with whatever was left falling directly into the lava, burning the remains.

That got the attention of the other kobolds, especially the shamans. They were gearing up for another fireball, but it seemed very unlikely that they would be able to hit Lucas. His dash was not just a one trick ability: he could do it whenever he wanted, as long as he paid the cost. Cracking his knuckles, a fun little pastime he had acquired due to the time he spent as a human, Lucas looked to his female ally and smiled, a relaxed, warm smile despite his crimson visage.

"We can do this!"

The camaraderie was enough to make him gag, but he kept it together. After all, there were still many more to kill.

Zane was in a bad mood. Then again, it would be particularily difficult for him to not be at the moment. He was surprised at how fine everyone else was with all this. Well, he did suppose that he was the wacky one in the guild... sighing, Zane decided to just ignore his grips with the randomness of the sudden situation and go with the flow. He didn't really have any time to be whining about it in an internal monologue anyways - he had work to do. The first step was to get to more stable ground. The edges of the volcano seemed to have something of that like, so Zane figured it was probably best for him to start heading over there.

Zane wasn't exactly the strongest mage - in fact, he was hardly a mage at all in the end. His time spent hopping from rock to rock was used to try and avoid any contact he could with these kobolds, but his luck seemed to have ran out when one caught wind of him. He did suppose that there were only 4 of them here, after all... Panicking, Zane drew his revolver and immediately pointed it at the Kobold's head, shooting it in the face with a bullet. The bullet wasn't quit enough to kill the kobold, but it was enough to make it grab it's face in pain, stunning it for a moment. Zane took this opportunity to hop to a nearby footing, using his right leg to firmly push the kobold into the lava. While he imagined that the creatures here were probably resistant to fire, being monsters that lived in a volcano and all, Zane knew it would still most likely damage it enough to stop it from going after him for a bit.

Panting, Zane finally reached the bit of ground on the edge of the volcano. It was only then that he realized that the lava level was slowly rising. He supposed he hadn't quite caught wind of that until now - after all, he was so busy thinking and looking at other things. Speaking of looking, a red ball of fire quickly caught the corner of Zane's eye. Panicking, Zane quickly moved to the side, the fire missing his body by no more than a couple of feet. Even then, Zane could feel the heat of it. That ball of flame would've most likely gave him a burn that would scar if it managed to land on him. Looking in the direction of the fireball, Zane saw what seemed to be a wizard among the kobolds - a shaman, if you will - and grit his teeth. Zane was all for fun and wacky adventures, but all of this was too much and too sudden. He wasn't very happen. "Just piss off!" Zane remarked, raising his hand up to the sky. Energy quickly gathered - an energy that was potently powerful and remarkable, even in the land of Fiore where extremely strong magic was aplenty.

Lowering his arm and aiming at the shaman who looked on from a platform above, Zane flung the spear of Fairy Glitter at the creature. While Fairy Glitter may not seem entirely impressive to the naked eye, its power was immense - it was comprised of the powers of thousands of tiny fairies, all condensed into that spear. Zane worried not for his aim, as he knew that so long as he willed it the spear would find its way to the shaman. The shaman tried to circumvent this by hiding behind a nearby wall next to the platform it was on, but it did not matter. Fairy Glitter would find its target no matter what. And it did just that, striking the Kobold Shaman through the chest with an insanely massive amount of damage, enough to kill the beast almost the instant it hit. Zane panted. That spell took a lot out of him, but it was worth it. The problem was, now he was sure the eyes of the other kobolds would certainly be on him...

Steel

Steel landed on the next rock, At this point all around him the fighting was going on, A quick look over his shoulder revealed that Lucas was helping Mary out with killing a kobold whilst not so far away the one who hadn’t told Steel his name and therefore the unknown to Steel fairy tail mage killed another kobold and used a spell out of legends.

The spell was called “Fairy glitter” and was one of the things that guild members of Fairy tail simply knew about. The members who weren’t of higher class in the guild like Steel only knew that it was something that stronger mages that had more link to the secrets of the guild had access too.

The thought in itself only took a split second. Then Steel was back; he focused on what was in front of him instead of focusing on what his teammates were doing. He had to get to the remaining kobold shamans and kill them before the lava rose so much that there was nothing to stand on. He jumped to the next rock and this time he cleanly cut another kobold in half. Then Steel raised his sword like a shield and blocked some incoming arrows with it. He jumped to the next rock and was caught fighting another kobold.

This could go on for ages if it wasn’t for the fact that the rising lava gave a time limit to them all. The kobold Steel was fighting this time was wielding a longsword not unlike the one Steel was using. It was however not as strong and accustomed to using the big sword as Steel was to using his. The swings were therefore slower and heavier. The first swing was swiping slash which Steel ducked under, The second was an overhead slash that Steel side stepped and the third slash would have been a sort of stabbing attack but before it could land Steel hit the kobold in the head with his Executioner's blade and killed it.

Mary Wraith
Overcoming the hesitation, the kobold continued advancing towards the grim woman. Step by step, death approached. However, when the creature lifted its weapon, there was a flash of lightning... And a spray of blood. “Ah...?” Surprised nearly speechless by the sudden attack, the ghastly girl blinked blankly. She gazed at the dashing hero with a mixture of bewilderment and awe. Their eyes met. His brave words were met with more hesitation. “W-we can...?” She wasn’t quite so sure... But wouldn’t argue regardless. Something about that warm, wonderful smile accompanied by the lovely splash of crimson made her heart hammer madly. T-this had to be... love at first sight! If they survived this, he would ask her out on a romantic date and then...

Fortunately a sudden surge of power snapped the lonely ghoul out of her lavender-colored daydreams. Her attention was drawn towards Mister Zane and the energy gathering above his hand. It was forming... a spear of sorts? When he launched the spear and promptly slew a far-away target in a single shot, her eyes widened and jaw dropped. She had never seen anything like it, nor even heard of such a thing in her studies. Mixed feelings swirled inside her head... Fear, admiration... Envy. To be killed by such a beautiful technique... Ah, how she wished that could’ve been her.

Inspired by the grand displays of power, Mary found the resolve to try her best as well. She hurried after the others. The lava was steadily rising, already nipping at her heels. She could feel the radiant heat brushing against her back. Beads of sweat dripped down her cheeks as she gasped for air. Exercise and heat, a combination that most definitely didn’t suit her... Still, she managed to scamper up some stones and find higher ground. She was lucky that her allies had cleared the path for her. Naturally, one of the armored kobolds gave chase. It jumped with far greater ease and grace, clearly accustomed to the terrain. Catching up to the grim woman was only a matter of a couple more leaps.

...At least until she turned around.

The ghastly mage clasped her hands together as if in prayer. “Find peace beyond this mortal coil.” With the ominous words left hanging in the air, she started whispering feverishly. Anyone who heard it might question if those words were even Fiorian... Or something else entirely. Wisps of dark magic started flowing from her and homing onto the kobold. Once they touched him... Nothing much seemed to happen. Except that his next leap was left weak. Confusion washed over the hairy features as he barely managed to catch the edge of the platform. His arm trembled with sudden weakness, unable to support the weight. One by one the bulky fingers failed, until the weakened creature plummeted into a fiery death.

Odin †

So far, the entire ordeal was going rather well, despite the harsh climate and irritating monsters who were hell bent on killing all four of the Fairy Tail mages. Lucas, now covered in blood and gore, was able to witness each of his allies take charge and defeat their enemies. The most impressive of this was the unknown mage who reminded Odin of someone he had broken many years ago. If it was the same mage, then he had certainly gained a power boost since that time, as he fired off a spear made entirely of light, a spell that Odin knew about, and that Lucas had been aiming for himself. One of the four great spells of Fairy Tail, and the most destructive of the group: Fairy Glitter. Nobody had seen it in use in decades, as Adriana -the guildmaster and likely only other person alive who could use such a powerful spell- didn't get out much, and definitely wasn't in combat situations these days. Perhaps a certain evil Lich could bring her to fight once more.

For now, at least, there were much more important things to be dealing with. Namely, the mass of kobolds that were trying to kill Lucas. Luckily, Fairy Glitter had painted a much bigger target on the blonde mage than the single killing that Indra's Gauntlet had provided. It also didn't help that the man seemed weakened by the spell, likely due to the enormous tax on one's magical power. And while Lucas could probably dash to the man's location and defend him, he figured it would be better to deal with the shamans that were causing them all problems, and halt the production of pesky fireballs that would cause them to plunge into the lava.

On that topic Lucas noted, as did his other allies, that the lava was steadily rising, with some of the smaller footholds having been lost to the intense vermilion liquid. They would have to be careful, and needed to keep a close eye on the rising lava. If they weren't careful, they would die, but if they were too slow, they would also die. There were many things to keep track of, and as Lucas dashed towards the shamans, preparing to take the entire brunt of the fireball that they would inevitably send his way, he kept his fists up. At least if they took the hit, it wouldn't ruin his coat.

Zane felt a little tired. That was the first time he had used Fairy Glitter in a high stakes situation, and he was feeling the toll of it. To make matters worse, he had also used the most powerful attack thrown out in this battle yet. In other words, all eyes were on Zane - both from his teammates and the enemy. Realizing this wasn't a good situation, Zane felt compelled to head in the direction of his guildmates. The older man seemed to be the most reliable looking, even if that thought was based mostly on the age of the gentleman. Still, Zane knew he'd be safer with just about any of the others than on his own.

Some of the warriors had taken note of Zane. They made some odd noises to each other, almost as if to co-ordinate that they wanted to go for that one. Zane made a dash in the other direction. The sides of the volcano had a bit of a cliff that went around the whole of it. His legs moving as fast as they could to evade death by the kobold's weapons, Zane rushed around. That being said, the group of a few warriors eventually realized that the path they were running down was a circle, and so one of them began to run the other way. Realizing he'd soon be pincered on both sides, Zane would hop onto another one of the footings that lead into the center. Seeing a warrior prepare to jump down from the side, Zane took his pistol and aimed it directly at the kobold's head. The shot was more powerful than the one before, enough to take the warrior out. Still, the fact remained that 2 other kobolds still pursued him. Zane turned around once more and hopped from footing to footing, trying to make it to the side of the older gentleman. The only way he was going to live would be for him to stick near his guildmates. Zane was a one trick pony, and he just blew his trick a moment ago.

Steel

Steel knew in his heart that they were going to win this fight but the more the lava rose and the kobolds got closer and closer on his allies in his head he pondered if they were going to die here. He would not allow it. He got stuck thinking for too long and was awakened when an arrow hit him square in the shoulder. It only dinked his armor but it was enough for him to stop thinking, enough to stop him day dreaming even.

He looked over at the kobold who had launched the arrow at him, He slowly bent down and picked the arrow up. If it had pierced his armor what type of damage would it have done to him? He smelled the tip. It was laced with poison. If it had gone through his armor it probably would have done significant damage to him. He couldn’t allow himself to fall here. He needed to be a shining star for the rest of the team. A beacon of hope when darkness fell.

Another arrow came flying. Steel sidestepped it and then started making his way over to the kobolds that were using the bows to rain down hell on them. There were quite a few of them and in front of them were several more who were defending the backline. Steel jumped up on the first rock making some distance between himself and the lava whilst also knocking another kobold down into the lava using a roundhouse kick that was weighted by swinging around his executioner's sword along with his body.

Mary Wraith
While Steel deftly dodge an arrow aimed at him, the dangerous projectile kept going. Mary, still focused on her falling foe, was a sitting duck for the stray shot. The arrow pierced through cloth and flesh, sinking deep into her back. The poison on the tip slipped inside her veins, bringing a wave of weakness with it. The whole world... was spinning... She collapsed with a weak gasp. It was a small miracle she didn’t fall into her fiery doom. Shrieking and cackling followed as the monsters celebrated. One down, three to go!

However... After several silent seconds the corpse stirred. Her pale hand scraped against the dirt. A creepy, dry groan crawled from her throat. Slowly, stiffly, she rose from the ground. Crimson droplets painted the corner of her mouth and trickled down her chin. Her hollow, unfocused stare swept over the area... Until it suddenly focused on the archer who had shot her. The distracted kobold took a hesitant step back. Strange words were exchanged among the group, creeping panic clear even through the language barrier. What was going on...? Hm, well... For someone who always seemed on the verge of death -or beyond it- the ghastly mage was somewhat sturdier than the average folk. So, she was sad to find herself still alive. For now...

"Run, son! Run!"

Steel started to hear whispers. Whispers in the voice of his late father. No one else would be able to hear these whispers except for Steel. Steel recognized it immediately because it was one of the last things he heard his father say to him.

It seemed like it would be easy. All eyes were on the blonde Fairy Tail mage, none were on Lucas. Part of that might've been that his clothes now matched the colour of the lava, but either way it seemed that he would be able to hide from view and attack without being spotted. But, funnily enough, if someone was running towards you, you noticed them despite what else was going on. Such was the case for the shamans, who saw the white haired mage as he approached them, ill intent obvious in his eyes.

Their fireball, probably to the virtue of the blonde mage, was aimed directly towards Lucas, and there was no time for him to dodge. Nor would he want to, as avoiding the attack left it open for his allies to receive the hit. Despite having an older body, Odin knew he could withstand pain. SHE knew he had done so in the past, so a fireball could be moved through. Such was the case, but something happened as he moved. The spell, a combination spell from all five shamans, was aimed towards the Lich's left arm. It devastated his left gauntlet, but did even more damage. The force, and the fire that accompanied it, blew the man's arm straight off. Despite being illusory flesh and blood, the pain was very real, and to his allies it would look like Lucas had truly lost an arm.

For a moment he fell forward, catching his weight on one foot and only just stopping his plummet into lava. He grunted, the pain being more than he had anticipated due to the culmination of multiple magical powers all hitting him at once. He coughed out blood and, dipping his stump into the lava, cauterised the wound to stop any more blood from flowing. He looked like a broken man, but he looked up at the shamans, filling them with dread as he activated his Fear ability. They didn't understand why, but they knew they had made a grave error in judgement. They were open, and they were his now.

"My turn."

Zane had now gotten closer to the elderly gentleman, but, well... it seemed like the man wasn't looking too great at the moment. Zane supposed that was what happened when you took a big ball of fire to the chest. Zane now felt extremely lucky that he had dodged the one from before... should that of actually hit him he was sure that he'd feel a world of pain. Speaking of which, Zane's temporary moment of thinking cost his a scratch on his left arm. One of the warrior kobolds from afar had thrown a throwing axe at him, and while it didn't take Zane's life or anything it was enough to make a pretty solid cut in his upper arm. Sounding out in pain and grabbing his arm with his other hand, pistol still in it, Zane clutched his wound a bit as he made his way closer to the older gentleman.

Finally getting within a few lava footings of the man, Zane let go of his wound for a moment, scanning around. Did that warrior have another throwing axe? He needed to make sure... through the corner of his eye, Zane caught the glint of another axe about to be thrown, this time seemingly in the direction of the man Zane was now fairly close to. Thinking fast, Zane aimed his revolver at the throwing axe in the air. This wouldn't be enough to destroy the weapon if it hit, but it would be enough to send it off course. It was worth a try to hit it. Of course, it would definitely take good aim and a solid bit of luck... probably one of the more difficult shots Zane would have to make in his life. Taking a split second to aim, Zane hoped for good luck and pulled the trigger, the bullet making a "ding" on the axe and sending it off course, allowing it to land in the nearby lava rather than anywhere near the man who it was targeting. "Holy shit! Did everyone see that?!" Zane exclaimed, excited by the shot he made. Zane quickly realized the situation at hand, especially thanks to his wound. This was no time to be so impressed by himself. Looking around, Zane figured it would be best for him to watch the man's back for now.
