The ebony sky painted across the dull city which shrouded itself in it's past misery. Tranquility echoed through the night streets, being trampled upon by the rough whispers of idle chatter and gentle commotion of the beer jugs clanking against each other. It was an odd night that brought forth a deadly silence that no one wished to cross. The warmwool inn, as usual, had emptied out by the time the moon spread it's wings in the sky as the people of the city still feared that unwelcoming attacks of the lycans that hunted for victims in the night. All else, who came to the inn to stay the night had already retired as those who remained, drinking until late in the night were often categorized as individuals that reigned chaos once the alcohol established into their system.

It had been a while since the female migrated to this lifeless town and it had, surprisingly, proven to be better than what she had anticipated. Then again, with the infamous reputation that it withheld in the outside world, she hadn't really expected anything at all. The dull and boring pint of the drink that sat before her was met with a pair of equally dull honey hues that expressed the boredom that she had felt. The inn was famous throughout the town, not simply because it was the only decent place in the town where people to leisurely swung by, but because it was supposed to be a structure that housed the finest drinks and the finest people. Or at least as fine as one could possibly find in this place where even travelers choose to bypass.

All the recent changes that had clawed their way into her life, coming out from the unknown, had been exhausting despite being those that she had enjoyed. She was happier now than she had been before and yet, the monotony refused to fade on some days and today merely happened to be one of those days. What she longed for, at that moment, was the need to forget about everything and simply let loose. Yet, much to her dismay, as her eyes glided across the wooden structure, there was no one in sight. No one worth spending her time and effort on, at least.

She swiveled in her chair, turning back towards the bartender that served drinks to the few individuals that were scattered across the room. He was a short and stout man whose words were always laced with poison. His expression withheld his despise for the people that talked to him and he thought he had the luxury to do so as there was nowhere else where people could go to wash their worries away. The only time the Bellan ever sees him beaming with joy was when his lips voice out his greed and communicate in a language he loved; the language of money. Upon seeing him, her face scrunched slightly as she found herself heaving a sigh upon realizing that he was the only available company at that moment.

Gulping down the drink before her, she ordered another one as the rush of adrenaline kicked into her system. "How the hell is there no one here to party with? It's all because of those damn dogs." She mumbled the last bit beneath her breath as a brand new, refilled mug found it's way onto the wooden table upon which she seated herself.

Asmodeus

The sky had long since darkened from bleak gray to familiar black by the time he took to the streets again. Thanks to that, Asmodeus' red eyes were only accentuated. They almost glowed, as if he was someone capable of magic and the likes. His attire was of the same colour of the darkness around, acting as nothing more than background noise for the prominence upon his face. He paced around the streets of the godforsaken town.

There was a store in the old town that still sold the single jewel candy. It wasn't a lone jewel anymore, but it was all the same stuff. They were those little hard sweets that taste of soap, white chocolate mice and fizzy cola bottles. One could only self serve in little scoops to white paper bags and the walls were adorned with nostalgic black and white prints from decades ago. The frontage had been redesigned to look like a heritage building. The bay front window was broken into rectangles by a lattice of white wood and the door was a glossy cherry red. The most beautiful of memories were the worst, cutting his insides as if they were shards of glass. The town of Dahlia was once his refuge, a place of guaranteed warmth even on the coldest of winter days. Just being there filled Asmodeus with a sadness he would never fully shake. But in Dahlia he was. Home, sweet home.

Instead of reliving the memories of old, Asmodeus wanted to forget. And what better way was there than liquor? He lit a cigarette as he entered the tavern. The smoke twisted in its artistic way, forming curls in the gloom, illuminated only by the age-speckled bar lights. Along the wall was every hue of amber liquid in their inverted bottles; every vice that Asmodeus had been ordered to avoid. He raised a shaky finger to call the server, and when they did not appear he turned his head slowly to his right to watch her scrubbing the glass of the chiller cabinet, recently re-stuffed with those stupid garish alco-pops all the teens were slurping faster than coca-cola. "It must be near closing," he thought to himself. Even in his alcoholic stupor, his heart rate rose a little and his face flushed even pinker. "Hey!" he called, "Gimme another one." The old man turned his head. The professional smile he'd worn all night was quite gone.

There weren't many in the inn, despite its famed reputation. For the next couple of minutes, people came and went. Though he was itching for a fight, his consciousness told him that doing so while intoxicated probably wasn't the best of choices. His suit didn't allow much leeway in that aspect either, restricting movement for the most part. Amongst those who entered the inn was a woman, her short, almost-wavy hair seemingly dyed pink. She was undoubtedly attractive amongst men, though not our hero's type. Thus, he had paid her no mind until she opened her lips to speak. 'Dogs'.

Asmodeus' neck snapped towards her, his gleaming eyes forcing his gaze upon hers. "What'cha want, woman?" he questioned. Surely she was addressing him, with his sable dog suit on. Though she did pluralize the word, who else could she possibly have been addressing?

EXIT

The hushed silence submerged underneath a miasma of whispers as the little bell that hung before the tattered wooden door shook unstably. It had been the appearance of someone had that resulted in gazes and chatter being tossed around, one after the other. The Bellan, however, didn't tear her eyes off the freshly filled glass that sat before her. Being too busy wallowing in her own thoughts, she almost missed the change to the tranquil environment she had internally complained about moments prior. She heard a voice, loud and clear, ordering another drink. However, the words had blended right into the environment. Perhaps the only notable difference was the menacing smile that made it's way onto the bartender's face who possibly expected yet another tip from another customer.

Her words, barely loud enough, or so she thought, had caught the attention of someone foreign to her. The sudden blast of his voice which bombarded through the vicinity captivated her attention. Her eyes, suddenly widened at the distorted pierce in the silence, snapped towards him while her eyebrows knitted together in a state of confusion. Her quick glance around her surroundings, and his crimson gaze which was stubbornly fixated on her, were enough of an indication that she was, indeed, the individual whom his odd question was directed towards. The man, seated a few tables away from her, stared at her with an expression that surfaced his surprise and exasperation. His jet black hair was partially gelled back, exposing his face which was adorned with piercings that accompanied those blood red eyes. They were one of a kind, shining dimly underneath the gloomy orange lights that illuminated the inn. They expressed some sort of danger which somehow, blended perfectly with the atmosphere that lingered in this hazardous city. And yet, he was obviously not from there. The way in which he held himself was far too different from the despondent attitudes of the citizens of Dahlia.

Her eyes traveled to his attire, momentarily knitting further in confusion until she put two and two together. She was slightly surprised but her astonishment was drowned out by the sheer amusement she felt upon looking at the man. Pursing her lips together in order to avoid a chuckle from escaping, she realized it was perhaps better than arguing or even fighting with an unknown drunk. "Ah, not you. I was referring to those annoying lycans. Plus...you're not even a dog."

Her hand traveled to the table, grabbing the handle of the mug that stood before her, still brimming to the top with an amber liquid that threatened to get her intoxicated. She took a gulp before looking back at the odd looking dog-man who had immediately grasped, not just her attention, but also the one of those surrounding them. After all, among the haystack of lifeless individuals, his antiqued appearance was one that was incredibly amusing to look at. Perhaps, she had finally found someone who would make the mundane evening much more interesting. A grin crawled upon her face at that thought. "So dog-boy, what's your name?"

The alcohol had seeped into her system, making her a little more loose-lipped than general. And a little more honest too. Alas, the night was still young and she could use a friend who indulged in his interest of looking like furry. There was no harm in getting to know someone who she assumed was a stranger in the town she now called home.

The night, however, was being stretched out. As much as she hated to admit it but there were things to be done. Gulping down whatever remained in the mug, she would use the back of her hand to wipe it away. She pressed her palms against the rough wooden table and hauled herself up. Putting down the monetary equivalent of her bill on the table, she made her way towards the door. However, there was one important thing she was forgetting. Looking back, she'd stare at the weird man for a few seconds. "Well, see you around stranger." With that, the sound of the bell rung through the area, signifying her leave.
