Another bright day dawned in Orchidia as Alfyn was getting ready to leave his apartment and make his way to today’s client. This time he had to be a granny-sitter for the day and what better excuse to find sweets in a house than being with a granny. After he closed the door behind him he bided his time walking in the streets, he had the address and knew where to find the place so since he would be able to make it on time he decided to enjoy a nice stroll through the busy streets of Orchidia.

After a while he made it to the place and when he was about to knock on the door a man opened it in a hurry. Alfyn saw a man around his thirties, kind of hungover -judging from his red eyes-. The man explained that he was in a hurry, and after confirming that Alfyn was indeed to be the granny-sitter he introduced himself as Mitya and rushed him inside the living room where he introduced his mother Rynah before leaving and saying he would be back in the evening.

The door closed with a loud bang as Alfyn smiled awkwardly towards that direction before sitting beside the old woman and making small talk with her. They exchanged pleasantries and Rynah seemed to be quite a gentle and sweet woman, she offered him tea and sweets that he could find in the kitchen and asked him to bring some in the living room for them to enjoy. Alfyn followed suit with a smile as he’d get to enjoy homemade sweets.

Time passed and it was now well into the afternoon hours. The duo after solving some crossword puzzles and Alfyn having heard more than enough stories of Rynah’s late husband, while learning how to knit-courtesy of course of the elderly woman-, was off to the kitchen to prepare a batch of delicious special cookies with a secret ingredient, as Rynah explained. She sprang into action after reminiscing how her husband used to love those and even the neighbors would comment on how tasty they were. Alfyn of course indulged her and followed her to the room, getting everything ready so they could begin.

Looking over at Rynah he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the speed at which she prepared the dough, asking to learn the secret for himself but she just assured him it was years of experience and a strong arm. Alfyn reluctantly accepted the answer with a chuckle and then proceeded to give shape to the dough. The elderly woman finally sprinkled some blue crystals on the cookies before the tray went into the oven, as Alfyn inquired about them, she revealed it to be the secret ingredient, crushed mana crystals.

Once they were ready for consumption, and not before they almost burned as both of them went back to their activities before Alfyn remembered in the nick of time, she offered him one to which he graciously accepted after watching her eat one to make sure they were edible. With just the first bite energy surged within him, a welcome effect to be sure, as for the taste, it was even better than he anticipated. The rest of the evening proceeded without much action and as Mitya arrived and gave Alfyn his reward, the man said his goodbyes to Rynah with a smile to which she reciprocated in kind.
