Flora Carlisle

PERSONA

Name: Flora Carlisle

Age: 18 | December 18th, X772.

Gender: Cis Female

Sexuality: Bi Sexual

Ethnicity, Father: Icebergian

Ethnicity, Mother: Fiorian

Class: The Sorcerer

Race: Human

Rank: D-rank

Guild: Guildless

Tattoo: Flora's guild tattoo sits to the left of her torso between her belly button and her waistline.

PHYSIQUE

Height: 5 foot 4 inches
Weight: 135 pounds

Hair: Chestnut Brown

Eyes: Hazel Brown / Green

Overall: Hazel eyes adorned a petite, pale-skinned woman while chestnut waves hung against her back, leaving long, slender legs in its wake. Inherited from her mother, Flora’s short build caused many to underestimate the sorceress’ power. When practicing, Flora’s eyes may glow a silvery- almost blue hue. Though her hair hangs long, Flora almost always keeps her locks secured in a bun at the crown of her head while traveling or on quests. In attempts to stay comfortable she wears combat boots that sit firmly at her calf while brown cargo pants travel up the rest of her leg. Accentuating subtle curves hidden beneath the garments, Flora wears a tight army-green tee shirt. During colder months, she can be found wearing a black coat given to her mother from her Icebergian father before he abandoned them.

Extra: Although Flora is guildless, she hopes to one day have a guild tattoo on the left side of her torso. The rest of her body is littered with miscellaneous tattoo’s illustrating stories of her adventures that only she and a small few people can understand.

PERSONALITY

Personality: Abandoned by her father at a young age, Flora had grown up with a lack of trust for any form of authority. She’s a distant woman, finding it difficult to keep company for longer than a few months. Many have complained that she is standoffish, crass, and borderline rude. While few have even met the woman behind the “mask”, the ones that have described Flora as hardworking, resilient, and a bit headlong.

With a passion for throwing herself into stupid situations, Flora spends hardly any time worrying about unnecessary things like healthy living or positive relationships in life. Flora finds herself putting all attention into the task at hand, leaving little room for personal relationships or growth. It’s one of the reasons many people have found themselves only being in the sorceress’ life for a short amount of time. She’s got terrible common sense. Someone could shove the answer in her face but if she isn’t told explicitly what it really means…She’s a lost cause.

Flora never really cared about the scale of power between people. She understood that there was always going to be someone more powerful than her and someone more weak than her. She respected the magic system. She was one of the few who believed power wasn’t born. Flora always thought that the only way to increase your power was to train. Not to mention, before she went out on her own, the young woman could barely flicker a defense spell between her fingertips.

Likes:

  • Librairies: There is something to be said about the atmosphere of a library. Flora, whenever resting between quests, makes it a priority to stay in a town where a library is present. She prides herself on her knowledge of all the countries of Earthland. It’s something few understand but something she is extremely passionate about.
  • Cooking: Since Flora spent the majority of her life being a solo-quester, She learned to cook meals for herself. While she enjoyed the luxury of eating at a local pub or buying from the marketplace of whatever town she was squatting in for the time being, nothing compared to the food she made by herself.
  • People Watching: Flora is an admittedly judgemental person and there is almost nothing that gives her as much joy as people watching. When bored, Flora likes to create situations in her head for the stranger she was gazing at for the time being. She understands many probably find it odd but she’d been doing it for such a long time that she barely registers that she’s creating a story until the moments passed.

Dislikes:

  • Drunkards: Reminding her of the vicious men she saw in her youth, Flora finds herself having an extreme distaste for men consumed by the bottle. She finds it to be pathetic and loses respect instantly. While aware that her distaste is slightly ignorant, Flora is incapable of seeing someone the same way once finding out about this flaw. It reminds her of those men at the pub her mother worked at and those visions will never change no matter how much she grows or learns.

  • Iceberg: Although she is half-Icebergian, Flora finds the country to be extremely barbaric and chooses to avoid that side of her legacy. While there are some people who come out of Iceberg without applauding the country's attributes, she avoids people who praise the land like they’re the plague.

  • Leather: The fabric feels hot and always sticks against her skin while she’s trekking or fighting. It’s always been a pet peeve of hers and she chooses to avoid garments made of leather entirely.

Motivations:

  • Wealth: Flora is very poor. She grew up poor as well. Her father left when she was only nine. From that time forward her mother worked in two pubs just to keep Flora fed and healthy. To this day, Flora still will stop home if she’s in Fiore to drop off money to her mother. This is a part of her history she keeps very private and few will know about her financial status. Flora wears no armour but enchants her clothes with low-level magic to upkeep them and so they aren't destroyed during missions.
  • Fame: Flora’s mother told her to do her best to create a name for herself and her family. Taking up her mothers maiden name after her father left, Flora never took up an alias. She’s known as Flora Carlisle the Sorceress. She vowed to her mother that the countries will know and praise their name.
  • Knowledge: Flora prides herself on her knowledge. She loves acquiring information on new things and spreading that knowledge wherever she may go. She quests in places she’s unfamiliar with because she aspires to learn everything she can about the area she’s currently exploring as she prepares for battle.

Fears:

  • Death: As cliche as it is, Flora is extremely afraid of dying. She has so much more she wants to accomplish before death and the idea of dying before she achieves that can sometimes keep her up at night.
  • Undead: Flora has a problem with being afraid of what she cannot understand. She’s so ignorant when it comes to the undead that until she is able to genuinely understand it...She’ll be afraid.
  • More to come as character is developed...

MAGIC

Magic Name: Jaded Ivy

Magic Element: Earth

Magic Enhancement: Blind on Hit

Magic Description: Jaded Ivy allows Flora to use crystal from inside the earth to her advantage during battle. Offensively, she can use the material to pummel, slice, or even blind her opponent. Defensively, Flora uses her magic as a shield for herself and the others around her. Throughout years of training, She’s been able to learn somewhat control of the other half of her power, Ivy. With the power of the Ivy, Flora has the ability to create long, flowing ivy to breach from the earth to bind her opponent rather than attacking. In extreme cases, the ivy can be lethal if it tightens around Flora’s opponent long enough but she’s never used it to such great lengths.

HISTORY

History:

No hero was ever born without tragedy in their life. At least, none that Flora had met. People who want to protect people know what it’s like to need to be protected. At the age of nine, Flora’s life changed forever. After one final intense fight between her mother and father, the youngling woke up one morning to a five-worded note from her father on her pillowcase.

         “ I will always love you. ”

Those words stared up at the frail little girl. Although the words looked jumbled between tear-struck eyes, Flora knew they weren’t genuine and were simply a cop-out for the selfishness he’d exuded her entire life. That was the first and only time she’d ever cried for her father.

After that morning, her mother found a second job and Flora started working on her magic. Flora spent her free time in libraries attempting to learn as much as she can about her power and how she can use it to obtain a steady cash flow to her mother and also herself.

By sixteen, Flora had steadily been doing small jobs for the townsfolk, bringing in a small amount of money for her and her mother. Although she was completely aware of the fact that the minimal money did nothing to bring comfort to their small lives, Flora’s mother acted as if the 15J she brought in weekly was what paid for the small scraps she scavenged from the cooks at the pub. She begged her mother for years to allow her to work at one of the pubs but her mother refused. Flora’s mother couldn’t allow her daughter to be subjected to such people. As their town held a large quest board for both neutral and good quests, people from all around earthland would end up in those pubs...good and bad.

It was the ones Flora had the pleasure of meeting which convinced her to start questing. It took months of preparation before she officially brought it up to her mother. To Flora, this seemed like a fantastic idea! As a sorceress, all she had to do was go questing and she could bring in enough money for her mother to get out of the town she raised Flora in. When she brought the idea up to her mother, she shut it down completely. The frail, older woman had already lost her husband and the idea of losing her daughter– it was too much to even consider.

Unfortunately for her, Flora was old enough to make the decision on her own. With a kiss on the cheek and a promise to return, Flora set out on her first quest. Little did she know that she would have a knack for this type of thing.
