The sleeping order was set and no one seems to be against what she said. After saying what she said though she felt she made a mistake in her choice of words and felt undoubtedly embarrassed by that. It was too late at this point to correct herself but it didn't matter, it seemed like no one really cared. After her introduction though someone did address her and introduce himself. She found out that one of her teammates was named Keita Vespasiano. It was an interesting name but she didn't just learn his name she learned that he had summoning magic too which was also something interesting. Hitomi had never seen anyone use that type of magic before and she wondered what sort of things or beings he could summon. The other individual, her other teammate didn't introduce himself and she had to wonder why. She already knew his name but that was about it, maybe what she said rubbed him wrong, she'd never know.

Night fell as it does and the group found a cave to make camp in. Having been instructed to set up as best they could, Hitomi set her bag down inside the cave and took out the water purifier and a few empty gallon jugs. If they were gonna cook they were gonna need clean water and she knew they passed by a river before getting where they were now and that wasn't too far away. Explaining to the rest of the group that she'll go collect water and that she had a water purifier so that they could also drink without needing to boil it and let it cool first. Making her way to the river she collected the water in the purifier first, letting it get clean and pouring it into the jugs. This took about ten minutes and once she was done she made her way back to the group. Setting the jugs down and pulling out a sleeping bag from her bag in order to set it up.

With everything about who would take the watches settled, it was time to actually go out and start traveling through the forests of the nation, which was said to be very dangerous. Keita wondered why seika did not say anything, but he supposed it did not matter. He also wondered why Seika seemed to be so anti-social, but also did not want to pry into his past, because there was always a reason for everything. As they were walking through the forest, Keita was vigilant, but he made sure that he was not completely on guard the whole time, as that would wear out someone’s mental state very rapidly. This was a pretty peaceful forest for the most part as they were traveling, and it filled him with a nice feeling of being at peace when walking through the tranquil groves.

As they were walking and resting, looking around at the wonderful scenery, night fell soon. He liked to see the colors change from day to night out here in the forest, it just seemed a lot more beautiful than in the city, and he got a nice view when they got to a cave to settle down in for the night. As they were all doing something, the woman said she was going to collect water, and they each had their own food, so Keita thought that he would go out and collect from fire wood. Starting a campfire would protect them from wildlife, but not other mages, although he was pretty confident in their group’s ability to defend against mages.

Walking behind everyone had its perks as they marched almost single file down the wooded highway towards their destination. Since the pathway had mostly become overgrown, they now lacked a good deal of tells that would aid in their navigation of the region. Luckily for them Shichiro had a map which helped mitigate this problem all together, but it was still something of concern for their return trip. It was anyone's guess just how quickly this could all grow back. Thankfully, none of that was Seika's concern. He was dumb muscle as far as the mission parameters were concerned. He was there to be pointed in a direction and burn things until they stopped moving.

Stepping out into the clearing that had been chosen as their resting spot for the night. He'd set himself back against the cave, rummaging in his knapsack for the necessary snacks and rations for everyone to eat once Keita and Hitomi returned from scavenging. He would set aside some fruit and jerky for each of them, ensuring that they got an equal amount of vitamins and protein for tomorrow. Upon Keita's return he'd light the fire for the camp with his Ignis spell, the small ember immediately causing a roaring fire to spark to life safely in the middle of the clearing. With his part done, he'd settle himself back towards the cave, just outside the entrance where he could see the entire clearing if he had to wake up suddenly. With nothing left to do, he then promptly fell asleep.

As Shichiro went to sleep, his companion Panther Lily had awoken from his 'slumber' in order to assist people that were doing their assigned watches. He'd patrol the perimeter every few minutes or so, stay stationed on top of the cave entrance in order to look around. Panther Lily continued to do this while each and every other member of the troupe had switched out for shifts as he was the only one that would be staying up the entire night. The only shift that was left open was Shichiro's shift which happened to be last after all the other members had taken their turns. When it was Shichiro's turn which basically means he had to wake up early, he had instructed Panther Lily to just go and take a nap and he could handle the rest of this himself. After all, he needed all of them as rested as possible.

After Panther Lily walked into the cave to get some rest, Shichiro went to find his knapsack in order to fish out one of the MRE he had bought in town in order to have himself a quick meal while he was on watch. Eating his meal as quietly as he could, he finished it and decided to go on patrol for a little exercise. It wasn't much wasn't of a walk since the cave entrance was small so he didn't have to walk so far but at least he was moving around. After some time had passed, it should be around the time the rest of the team woke up so he started to prepare for the journey once more.

After bringing the water in she took a gallon for herself, a wash rag, and a bar of scentless soap out of her bag and dissappeared out of the cave. They might have been out in the wilderness but she wasnt gonna be dirty. Having gotten this far she could feel the dirt and sweat on her and it did not feel good. At the very least she was gonna get some cleaning up done. Slipping away near the river where she got the water. She began cleaning parts of herself quickly but throughly. She used the purified gallon of water to rinse herself off. Once she cleaned her body she used the rest of the water to rinse her hair. Refilling the gallon bottle she would take it back to the cave and set it up to be purified before getting some sleep in before her turn for the night watch.

Waking up as it was her turn to do the night watch she grabbed some dried fruit and jerky from her bag and sat watch. During her watch she was vigilant and was lucky to not run into any problems. Eating her dried fruit and jerky she thought about what their mission would be. At some point she thought she heard something but it was just an animal. Eventually her shift was over and she took her turn to get some sleep. Soon morning came and she found herself waking up a little bit before the sun. Packing up her bag she quickly got herself together and waited for Shichiro to lead the way

The first part of the watch was pretty uneventful, especially because Keita had summoned a couple of small clay people that wandered around the campsite, making sure that nothing was going awry. He made them small enough to be carried off by larger animals, but large enough to where the smaller predators would stay awa. Luckily, the combination of glow from the campfire he had set up along with the seeming activity of the cave kept away most of the creatures that would have harassed them, ast least for Keita’s time on watch. He was unsure what to do in his couple of hours of watch duty, so he simply started to look out at the wilderness that was bathed in the light glow of their fire from the cave entrance, and it only illuminated a couple hundred of feet, and the contrast and actual visibility dropped off sharply as the distance increased.

Nature looked pretty cool, but with the stories, sounds, and other things that seemed to be happening around the area, it seemed a bit more sinister than actually cool or beautiful, and this was most likely some unfounded paranoia. Keita knew that there were things that went bump in the night, and some of them were even in this forest, but that was why he was not really scared. Most of the fear of man came from the unknown, and Keita knew there were going to be scary things out in the forest, so nothing happened. Soon, it was time for his shift to end, so he politely woke Hitomi up and had her take her shift as he fell asleep. After he woke up, he was ready to trek out after his buddy Shichiro and complete this mission.

Feeling his body rock, the man's eyes opened to see Hitomi standing over him just long enough to confirm that he had woken up for his watch of the group. Nodding in understanding, the man would pull himself up to his feet and walk past her, taking point towards the front of the cave and basking in the warm light of the bonfire. He would listen intently to the sounds of nature around himself as he mentally willed himself to stay focused and vigilant for the sake of his team members and himself. As such the night of watch passed fairly slowly for him, since it was just himself and the small cat like creature that scampered just around the edges of his vision as it also ensured that they were all safe to catch a quick wink of sleep.

Deciding to practice some of the more discrete forms of his magic, the man would pull himself over to the side and conjure up some small flames to have them dance around his fingers at varying speeds and intensities. The heat of the flames not even affecting him as if they were a part of his body. The small show would continue on for awhile longer before he finally came into the realization that his shift was ending. Getting up from his resting spot, he would dust himself off in a futile manner before walking back within the cavern and waking up Shichiro for his shift. Taking his spot back, he'd catch the last bit of sleep he'd get before they headed off back into the wilderness.

Getting everything in gear, he made sure all the members of his troupe had gotten their affairs in order, had all their equipment and were ready to keep moving. They were on a schedule after all and they needed to get to the fort by today. There was no doubt they'll spend most of tonight doing the job they were supposed to do but he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy about the whole thing. Treading through the shrubbery and foliage of the forest once more, Shichiro had led his team back on the right path towards their destination of going to the fort. It would still take them a few hours before reaching there. On the way there, Shichiro had taken out a water skin he had filled prior to the journey in order to take a sip from it since he was feeling parched.

He realized he didn't have anything to drink while he was eating his MRE so he figured taking a sip wouldn't hurt. Putting away his water skin he'd keep his focus back on the trail as well as keeping an eye out for any danger that might interfere with their journey. Surprisingly enough, nothing had happened on the way there and it was mostly peaceful. Panther Lily managed to get more sleep on the way there as he slept between the shield and Shichiro's shoulder. After some time had passed. the fort they were supposed to be at had been in their view but Shichiro began to witness a strange sight.

With everyone awake and heading out after cleaning up the campsite, it was looking to be a beautiful day with not a cloud in the clear sky. Shichiro for the most part was quiet so she didn't bother him. Hitomi knew he spoke but would probably be short with her if she tried to start a conversation. Keita was nice enough and she knew he could speak, she would like to have conversations with him more sometime after this whole ordeal of a quest was over. The enigma in this group for Hitomi had to be Seika. He hadn't said a single word since she's been in his presence. Was he mute? Or maybe he didn't like talking? She figure now would be better than any to find out. Slowing her pace to match his she smiled at him before speaking.

You know I haven't heard your voice before. I'm starting to think you're mute, or maybe you just arent a talker?

Her light chatter was just to pass the time. If he indulged her in conversation she would continue speaking with him and if not she would quietly walk beside him until they came to their destination. The destination of course being the fort with all the rats inside and possibly a demon rat king. Hitomi wasn't looking forward to going against a rodent that might be bigger than her. Eventually they did come upon their destination and she saw the same strange sight as shichiro did.

Keita liked the first watch, because his sleep wasn not going to be disturbed throughout the night, unless something dangerous happened, and luckily nothing did. This meant that his sleep schedule was intact, and he woke up the next morning feeling absolutely refreshed and ready to get on with the mission. As they were finishing up with various morning routines, Keita deciding to eat and go off into the bushes to handle his business, they would finally be getting down to traveling on the road, finishing their route to their destination. As they were walking, they were not saying much, Keita would chat with Shichiro about various things, asking him what he knew about the area, and if the particular MREs that he bought were any good. Keita knew that the travel rations had different menus, all with different numbers attached to them, and that they were different full meals, and so he was wondering if Shichiro got lucky in what was essentially a food lottery.

As they had finally got to the area they were supposed to be in, there wass seemingly a soft glow coming from part of the forest that they were heading to. This was the strange sight that the others had seen and were focusing on. They could not see what it was because of the tree line that they were current;y near, but one thing was for certain, and that was that the light was moving. As they got closer, Keita peaked around a rather thick tree, and saw that there were these strange glowing orbs floating around, similar to his will o wisp magic that he used to perform, and they were seemingly changing the eye color of some strange beasts around them, which happened to be the beasts that they were meant to start clearing out.

Arising with the others after first hearing Shichiro gather them about once first light came, the man simply stood from his resting place and assisted with cleaning up the campsite. Putting away the various materials that he had brought along for the trip, it would take him a few minutes to have his knapsack once again slung over his chest and a few of the logs that they had used to sit on around the campfire held firmly under his arms. He would leave the firepit alone for now, the fire long since burned out and the smoldering remains continued to sit there smoking quietly.

Dumping off the logs along the pathway as they set off again, he was moderately surprised when Hitomi slowed down from her position to walk alongside him, the shorter woman deciding to break into conversation to ease the travel a bit. Seika mulled in his head whether or not he should reply, and thinking over it, realized that outright snubbing his 'teammates' would be considered rude, especially since he was supposed to get along with them to increase their efficiency on the battlefield. With this in mind, he would return her words with a few of his own.

"The latter. There are few reasons I find to run my mouth. And the reasons I do have, others tend to dislike".

Short and simple, he'd keep walking along as they reached their location, the beasts they were meant to take care of in plain view of their group.

There lying in front of him were the wisps changing all manner of beast's eye color, similar to their own. It seems as if they were the ones responsible for all of the beasts in the lane running wilder than usual. It seems they have the most influence over rats as they seem to double in size and power. While the main objective wasn't exactly to deal with these things, if they were causing chaos through the northern region of Fiore, he couldn't exactly turn a blind eye to this so he would deal with it right here and right now. Dropping his knapsack to the floor, Shichiro began to gather his mana into his hands until an arcane bolt had formed, chucking it at the wisps that were in the middle of their ritual. He was unsure if the beasts could be returned to their former state but he would at least attempt to subdue the wisps first to see if that would reverse the effects.

For now, the beasts they were currently converting happened to be rats they had been sent out to destroy but something was different about them. Not only were they bigger but they walked on two legs and even looked as if they were capable of wielding weapons. This was a bit freaky to him but rats were rats, no matter how intelligent they become and that's what they were being paid to do primarily. Everything else is just a bonus. Shichiro threw his attacks and the battle went on from there with whatever actions his team decided to take. Afterwards, Shichiro had picked up his knapsack and made it to the entrance of the fort so the next part of their request could begin.

So the man did speak but what he had to say kinda worried Hitomi. She wondered what was said to him by the people to who he did speak. Now that she thought about it that sounded pretty suspect and now she was curious as to what he's been saying to people for them not to want to hear it. When this was all said and done she would try to get more out of him but for now, they had a task to focus on. Continuing to walk next to him she looked around, noticing how the trees seemed to cave in around them. Maybe it was the trick of the light but they def seemed to give off something eerie.

At some point, a glow from the trees drew the group's attention. Some weird wisp-like creatures were changing the beasts around them into well bigger and more deadly beasts. Reaching for the hilt of her sword she quickly followed up with Shichiro in attacking said beast, the crackling of her sword slicing through the beasts before going after the wisp-like creatures who seemed to multiple from the slain bodies that fell to the ground. Eventually, though the area was clear and she started to worry. There was probably no rat king but because of these wisps thing she was gonna have to fight a supernatural rat. Rolling her eyes she followed her Kingsguard into the fort to start the next part of the quest. She kept her sword out but she also gave out the magical communication devices so if they split up they could keep in touch.

As they were getting ready to confront their enemies, which were these strange humanoid looking rats that the wisp type creatures were transforming. The wisps also seemed to be affecting the other creatures of the forest as well, but rats were far more susceptible to the effects than the other animals and beast, making them much larger, more fierce, and much more aggressive. This seemed to make sense in Keita’s mind, because even though he did not know the science behind it, he knew that rats were the most popular creature for testing things in a laboratory, so maybe they were just better at adapting and getting their form messed with. Still, they needed to be taken down before they got any more out of hand, especially because they were going to have to go behind them to get to the next part of the mission, and so Keita started joining the action as soon as he saw Shichiro start to throw arcane bolts of energy at the enemies.

Keita did not want to bother with doing too many things, so he simply sent a rumbling force through the earth that made their legs really shaky. This worked out tremendously, as it seemed that the now bipedal rats were not used to their new forms and could not keep their balance and fell, leaving them wide open for the attacks of the others. Once they were taken care of, they only needed to trek a little bit closer to the fortress before entering and finishing the job.

An eyebrow arched as he observed the locale laid out before his team. Filled with bloated, oversized rodents as well as wisp like spiritual entities. He wondered if this was the reason that Hitomi hadn't responded to what he had said, but found that now wasn't the right time to ask. Glancing over at Shichiro, he could see the decisive man already moving to remove the menace, drawing up bolts of energy to strike down the Wisps that were sitting in their way to the temple. Seika didn't need to be told twice that he was going to be burning something, his hands already clenched around a ball of flames that he had subconsciously summoned when he first laid eyes on the creatures.

Changing the shape of the fire into a sort of lance or spear, the fire raged brilliantly as he took a spear throwers stance before chucking the object down into the valley below and spearing through several of the rodents and wisps before finally exploding violently at the end of its travel. This process was repeated several times as he stayed in his stance, his face impassive as he essentially scorched earth the location before them alongside his team. Once all of the wisps had been taken care of he finally stood up out of his stance and exhaled. Grinning at the exertion, he proceeded towards the temple with the rest of them while brushing his knuckles against his jumpsuit. It always felt good to praise Sol.
