Venus Rosé

Another day, another quest for a particular redhead. There was something about Venus and the theatres in Marigold that made her keep returning and this request that she’d signed herself up required her to ensure that the tonight’s performance at the theatre antics ran as smoothly as possible. Thankfully, her acting skills were not needed anymore – not that she was any close to being an actress; having a single experience on the stage was enough to tell her that the job was clearly not cut out for her, unless it required her to hunt down targets naturally. It also seemed her previous job ended in success for the long-term, seeing how the Marigold theatre was finally restored back on its popularity with how frequently it was being booked for plays and performances.

There she was, once again, standing by the back entrance of the theatre where only supervised members were allowed to enter. Approaching the door, she’d nod towards the security that guarded the area, familiar of her appearance possibly because her client had informed them of her arrival. The wooden door creaked open and suddenly, she’d be introduced to performers, both men and women and even children alike, sprinting from one place to another at the backstage; one rushing to the changing rooms to get her outfit fitted, another sauntering over to the vanity desks to get their makeup done. All in all, it was very hectic. The Siren felt quite out of place surrounded by performers who were in a hurry to get everything done by this evening, but she was also in a hurry to meet her client.

Venus managed to slip in a question to find the person she was looking for as they continued to rush back and forth, that watching them even increased her anxiety level. Knocking on the door, she finally entered the room of the star idol, Alice Nightingale, who was also her client for the day. The stunning woman was seated by vanity, getting her makeup and hair touched up by professionals.

”So, where do I start?”

Being a very straightforward person, the Siren was not the kind who liked to waste time, so she found it unnecessary to exchange introductions or whatsoever that people did when they met for the first time.

The quest was simple; all she needed to do was to make sure the lighting and the backdrop worked according to the plan. Honestly, anyone could have easily done the job, she wasn’t sure why she was hired for it, but well, money is still money as long as it goes into her pocket. Yes, it was no lie that she was a greedy little thing – the more money you can get, the better. After all, you never know when you’ll get thrown into the streets and she certainly didn’t want to struggle living her life that way again.

”Quite the introduction,” spoke the other female, sarcastically at the lack of courtesy from the redhead as she swirled around on her chair to turn to look at her. Who cares?, she wasn’t here for that, thought the Siren. ”Anyhow, I’m sure you’ll get the work done as I want. For now, just keep yourself busy until the show starts in an hour.”

The hunter raised her eyebrow from the quick exchange of information they had and pushed herself up from the seat that she had just taken merely moments ago. ”I’ll see you at the end of the performance, then.” With that, the red-haired woman departed the room and decided to occupy the rest of her time surveying the backstage, to see if anything was needed to be done. Venus was quite the perfectionist herself, so naturally, everything must go according to plan. While doing so, she learnt how to handle the curtains and the lighting of the stage and not long after, the show finally began. The duration of the task was short in time, having just a few seconds to roll the curtains down and switch the lighting to the idol, then she was practically done for the rest of the performance, which left her nothing but bored.

It wasn’t as though she could complain, she was getting paid for such a simple task, after all. So, when the claps and cheered echoed through the halls of the theatre and the star idol gave her gratitude to the audience, she’d roll down the curtains once again and visit the private rooms of Alice Nightingale to collect her long-awaited reward.
