Lotus
Lotus had fully intended on avoiding more work, at least for a few days. The visions she had experienced during their last job still bothered her, they felt so . . wrong.
Unfortunately it seems Dacol had spotted the strange light again, this time in a more human form! He was deeply worried about the safety of the town and wanted some help to investigate it further.

So here they were walking back to the river and Lotus was not in a good mood. Rivers were bad enough without weird memory light orb things! Except it's not an orb anymore apparently? But a humanoid? Weird.

Lotus was clinging to Ashley even more then usual, hardly paying any attention to what Dacol and them were discussing. Coming up with a plan, she thinks. Hopefully it's better than hey let's touch it again and see what happens and hopefully Ash will be ok this time.

Ashley
When Ashley had awoken to find themselves in the hospital they had been left with so many questions. The memories that lingered in their mind, ones that didn't belong to them. They required answers. Finally a true mystery in this town. This time they would be more cautious, not drawn in by the magical, mysterious nature of the entity.

They had listened attentively to Dacol's update on the situation with the strange blue light, as they joined him on the way back to the riverside. He was a much more sensible man than Dex. He claimed that it had taken a shape, away from a simple orb, appearing more humanoid. A concerning report.

As they reached the riverside, there was still a bit of daylight left in the sky, but it would completely set soon enough. The entity only seemed to show up at night, making the whole thing a little spookier, not that any of that concerned Ashley. There were few things that truly scared them and night was not one of them, unless it was filled with a stormy sky. They glanced up, noting the stars. A near cloudless night. Perfect. The moonlight would help them to see even once the sun was gone.

Their search was beginning to seem fruitless, and Ashley was about to call it off, planning to try again tomorrow instead. Then a flash; the faintest glow of blue catching the corner of their eye. It was far less bright than the last time they'd seen it, but Dacol's intel was correct, it had taken shape. Like that of a young child, hiding in the reeds, staring at them despite their clear lack of eyes.

Ashley took a step back, feeling the mystical desire to be drawn in once again. Not this time. They gritted their teeth, fighting it. Their eyes glanced towards Lotus as they heard it. Not physically, but in their head. In their minds, a small, frightened voice.

"Who are you?"

Lotus
As the search dragged on Lotus had begun to relax, maybe the weird light had already left? If so, good riddance. However her hopes would be dashed when they spotted a faint yet familiar blue light. She wanted to approach closer but the feeling, was wrong, like it wasn't her own. As she took a step forward she felt a tug on her arm the was linked with Ashley's, they had taken a step back with a determined look on their face.

Hearing the voice in her head Lotus looked to Ash, it talks now? why?
Still if it was willing to talk them no reason to be rude, right?

"My name is Lotus, this is my sister Ashley. How abou- Oh right, and he is Dacol. How about you? Do you have a name?"

Yes, dialogue was far better than weird visions. Lotus liked this much more, even if the entity spoke into her head directly.

"Name . . Can't remember. Was a mage . . but I . . . died. A long, long time ago."

Ashley
"Mana trapped me here. Been here, so, so long."

Ashley felt a headache coming on as they continued to speak telepathically. Sounds of pen on paper scribbling away behind them, Dacol already noting down everything that was said. Good. At least there would be a paper trail if they were to pass out again. Slowly the spirit approached, floating out of the reeds it had hidden in, perhaps feeling safer now introductions were done and they clearly weren't here to bring it harm.

"Why..." Ash started, pausing, trying to figure out the best way to get to the bottom of all this, "Why are you only showing yourself now?" They queried. From their experience, things of magical nature generally had a purpose, but not always. It was odd that they had only recently shown up if they had perished long ago. Or perhaps they had simply lost the ability to track time? A minute maybe felt like a lifetime to such a being.

"My friend, you must find. Prevent incoming danger."

As soon as it spoke the last words its form seemed to be sucked into the earth, disappearing. Ashley sighed, how were they supposed to find a friend of someone they didn't even know the name of? This was giving them a headache, and not just because of the magic affecting their mind.

Lotus
Lotus head had begun to hurt and she felt her body growing weak. On second thought talking this way wasn't much better than the weird visions. She struggled to pay attention as Ashley attempted to question the weird spirit. The spirit gave out some very vague answers before vanishing. Rude. Unfortunately the pain in her head didn't vanish with it. She felt all the strength leave her body and would of collapsed if Ashley hadn't caught her. A good nap sounds amazing right now.

However there was still a second source of annoyance, Dacol seemed to of been taking notes the whole time and was now rambling. His voice felt rather grating in Lotus's ears.

"If you see or hear the entity again remember to let inspector Nolan know straight away. I need to go report this. You two be careful heading back to town and make sure get some good rest."

With that he finally stopped talking and left them in peace. Lotus continued to cling to Ashley and lean on them for support. She really didn't care about this weird spirit or their vague requests. The only thing on her mind was finding a good place to sleep.
