Behind her the red carpet's denizens would fade and the ballroom would come into view, a sea of masked faces and dazzling attire fit for such an extravagant event. The music was upbeat yet classical and there was a spread of food and drink fit for gods and goddesses. Moving around the room the only thing Maria could think about was how stupid she was for thinking she wasn't going to come to this party. In a room full of sparkling jewels, she didn't sparkly any less, men flocking to her side in order to get to know the woman who proclaimed herself as a Celdrua. It was amusing to say the least and she was enjoying the attention, but she wasn't here for them, not at the moment.

Sauntering over to a wandering waiter who held a plate of champagne, she grabbed a glass and whispered in his ear for some information regarding the other Celdrua that was also here. The little redhead waiter would point in the direction that Maria needed to go and so she went. Gliding past people as she sipped her drink, Maria would grab another glass of champagne. The other Celdrua was in her sights, or at least her back was. Once she was close enough to what looked to be a stunner of a woman she tapped on her shoulder and waited for her to turn to her before offering the drink and speaking. They said another Celdrua would be here, but I don't think I've ever met you. A charming smile crossed her face, it was time to see what's been going on in the family. lilac hair.

"Hmhmhmhmhm~. Thank you, my lord." Aleja responded to the man in front of her.

This man was one of the nobles from the western region of Fiore. Clearly he'd been trying to flirt with the Stellan but she wasn't at all interested. She feigned amusement because as a woman, especially one from a background like Aleja's, she was almost always cautious of how she interacted when it came to politics. She wouldn't outright disrespect a noble- not unless he crossed boundaries in his ploy to get into her pants. The geezer continued on, yapping about his house and their relations with the Celdrua House, simply talking out of his ass for cool points.

At this point, Aleja needed a savior. Only a moment had passed and suddenly the Elven Stellan felt a tap on her shoulder. Anyone would have been a good substitute for the man she'd currently been giving her attention to. Quickly Ale turned around and what she saw was enough to cause her to faint. However, the Elf stood her ground though she couldn't hide the fact that she was in awe. Her eyes widened and her hand clasped her mouth as she gasped. It was as if she'd seen a ghost because...well...she did.

The silver haired woman spoke, bringing memories Aleja had long forgotten about to shore. Plans...plots, all of which she had given up on game hurling back into her mind. Her wine glass managed to slip from her clutches, shattering upon impact with the marble floor. "My gods...." Aleja whispered. "R-rose...!?"

Not knowing the reaction this woman would give to such a simple comment didn't put Maria on edge. Curiosity was already surging through her so mostly anything the other woman said or did would garner a reaction from the silver haired wood elf. Her jeweled amethysts irises looked over the woman and narrowed just a bit as she saw the glass fall from the other woman's hand. Swiftly taking a few steps back as the glass shattered, the two were swarmed by the staff who promptly began cleaning up the mess. Tsk, tsk. Let's be more careful next time. Gliding around the mess and getting close to the other Celdura once more, she handed the other champagne glass that she had been holding out towards her. Wow. Rose. It's been far too long since I've heard that name Smiling as she spoke, never breaking eye contact even as she lifted her champagne flute glass to her plump lips to sip the bubbly beverage.

Not to many people called her by of her many middle names and even fewer used Rose. Still even with the name drop she did not know who this woman was. The woman's shocked reaction did not phase Maria one bit and as she pulled the glass from her lips she decided to be a little more direct. you seem to know me well enough, but who are you exactly? The question was blunt as blunt could be but her voice held genuine confusion. The two woman standing across from one another had gathered a crowd of onlookers, thirsty to see what was going on between the two. Maria ignored them and turned away some thirsty man who couldn't read the room, but she never took her eyes off the woman in front of her.

† Aleja

There were no words in this moment, the moment Aleja had finally reunited with her older sister after years of being away from her. The entire family thought she had been dead save for her mother. Rohan went through a depressive phase for a long time when he decided to accept fate, and Aleja? she had only just lost faith. The gods worked in mysterious ways, ways that even the vessel of Kama's spirit couldn't even understand. This was Maria. She knew those eyes anywhere. She looked so much like their mother. The staff quickly gathered around to clean the mess the lady made and all other eyes remained glued to the women. Celdrua's were famous so as one could imagine, family business was drama worthy of being plastered in news papers and magazines.

Eventually Aleja pulled herself together. Reluctantly, she accepted the glass of champagne her sister had brought her. Going on eleven years it'd been since the two stood this far apart. From the looks of things, Rose had already reunited with the family. I mean the style of her dress practically screamed the Celdrua bank account. Oddly enough, nobody told the young Celdruan that her older sister was home. "Rose, it's Ale..." the Stellan whispered. It was as if her feet had been stapled to the marble floors beneath them. "Is it really you...?" Aleja slowly inched forward, closing the cap between them.

Whether Rose confirmed that it was really her or not didn't matter. Aleja would throw her arms over her older sister and hug her. "Rose- hahaha! Oh my god, Rose!" she'd exclaimed. It all finally made sense. This was a real moment. Perhaps the greatest gift she would ever receive. As Ale held her sister she'd let out a sigh of relief.

The pieces were slow to put together. Maria had to remember what she had gone through in these past few weeks that led her to where she was right at this moment. Her whole world had been turned upside down. For years her body and mind were tortured, and she was twisted so much that she turned into a deamon hell bent on doing what she pleased. All those years that went by and she thought her family didn't care enough to look for her, but she was mistaken, they never stopped looking for her.  It was a miracle and some powerful magic produced by some powerful individuals that brought her back from the mental hell that she was living in. In such a short time she had learned her mother was the reason behind these people finding her and curing her from the hell she was trapped in. Not only that but quite a lot of things she had to learn in a short amount of time, so much information that it nearly sent her into shock and one such piece of information was the sibling that she had known had grown to become someone completely different.

Maria's sacrifice all those years ago had not been in vain, here stood her sibling, all grown up and accomplished. Maria couldn't help but feel a pang in her chest. Yes, it's really me Tears welled up in her eyes as she returned the hug, holding onto her sibling for what felt like a frozen moment in time. The crowd around them seem to melt away and for Maria it was just the two until the world came melting back in. Pulling away from the hug and wiping the tears from her eyes, Maria took a good look at her sibling. The change was so drastic she knew that using the old name wasn't a choice anymore which was something even she could understand.   You've changed so much. I don't even know where to start. Giving a light chuckle she threw back the rest of her drink and placed the empty glass on a passing waitress tray. Let's find some where we can spend a little quality time.. The people can wait. Linking her arm around her younger siblings and leading the way away from the crowds and towards a balcony that overlooked area, Maria took a deep breath before unlinking her arm and turning her attention to the only other person now with her. We sure know how to draw a crowd...I don't even know where to start.

At last, the gods seemed to be pulling through for the Celdrua Household just when all else seemed to go to shit. With the passing of her mother, Aleja had been carrying a burden that sometimes felt to heavy for her to bare. Not once did she allow the family to fall apart though, even when her father refused to evolve. Once upon a time, this particular weight landed on Aleja because she had a different identity, so to speak. Even when Rose was alive, Ale had been named the heir of the Celdrua family. It was how things worked in this world. Now, however, with Le's older sister back and no sons to assume the leadership role, this responsibility could go to Rose- if Rohan had willed it at least. This was an almost immediate thought the elven goddess had when she wrapped her arms around her sister. To think that Ale once had no drive to lead the family and now she was embracing it? Times have changed.

Still, the younger sister wiped tears from the corner of her eyes, elated to see that her older sister was alive and well. Whatever came in the following days, weeks, or months would all be worth this moment no matter what. Politics aside, Maria had always been the more capable sibling. "I have haven't I? You look beautiful though! You look healthy." Aleja sighed, still holding on to that warm, bright smile. Even if she wanted to she wouldn't be able to stop expressing just how happy she was. It felt like she was alive again. Rose wanted to go somewhere more private where the two of them weren't being watched by folks too nosey for their own good. The Arrow of Love trailed beside her sister as they approached the balcony. The stars danced above, greeting the two elven women as the gentle winds of early autumn brushed across their faces.

Ale pushed her hair behind her ears making way for her golden earrings to glisten in the moonlight. Gosh, she didn't realize that she'd have so much to tell her sister when they finally reunited. The Lady dreamed about this moment a thousand times over and never imagined that it would actually come into fruition. Now that this moment was here, like Rose, she had no idea where to begin. "And it doesn't help that we've only gotten more famous over the years." Those blinding electric blue eyes shifted to connect with her sister's Velvet-like irises. "I didn't think I'd ever see you again, sister..." The real question the younger woman wanted ask involved the details of where Rose had been all this time, but of course she didn't think simply diving into the nitty gritty was appropriate right now.

"When... how are you here right now? When did you even...?" It was hard to even get the words out. The glass of champagne stood still in Aleja's grasp. She wouldn't take one sip of alcohol tonight.

Well first off you are absolutely a stunner. I really pale in comparison, pun intended. She found herself giggling. It was stupid but she found truth in it. Her sibling had chosen this form which probably meant she wasn't happy in the last one Maria saw her in. Carefully and with all the tact she could muster, Maria made sure not to bring up anything that her sister didn't bring up herself. Listening to Aleja she had learned over the course of her disappearance the family's name had soared. Maria in truth did not care about that, she was more interested in what her sister was up to but soon the questions about herself came back around, something she expected.

I wasn't sure I'd ever see you again, but life has a funny way of working out. Taking back the rest of her champagne, she sat the flute glass on the balcony's banister and turned her gaze out into the moonlit night. She didn't dread the last question she knew it was coming at some point. The answer of course was simple yet truly unexplainable. For years she had been in a realm of despair and pain with no way out unless... Maria's body stiffened at the thought. In her freedom she had forgotten her jailer, how could she forget about him? He was the reason for all she had been through, for what many people had gone through. Did he know? All the work he had done had been undone. Would he come back for her? Was she safe? Was Aleja safe? For a moment too long, she was stuck in her own mind with those questions and a new fear took over her, she couldn't return to him.

As for how I'm here right now, we have our mother to thank for that. She truly didn't give up on me. As it's been explained to me, she hired a special group of people to hunt me down. Though they specialized in more than people finding. As for where I've been, it's not something I can explain and not something I want to experience again. I promise I'm not being cryptic about it, it's just that the best way to describe or explain or even come close to a location is to say it wasn't on earth realm... I truly was out of reach. She wanted to cry but to fight off the tears she didn't let her gaze off of the moon. She had been enjoying her new life and didn't want to think about what happened, but she knew she wouldn't be able to truly be free, not with that thing running around. I remember the day those cultists took me. It was the only thing that kept my sanity intact. I died that day, and whatever they summoned brought me back and killed me over and over and over again. When it was done with me, I wasn't me anymore and it let me back loose in the world. I'm thankful that you didn't see me then.

Aleja's mouth gaped. She simply just couldn't believe her ears. Her sister had been being tortured all this time. There were no words to express how terrible she felt for even considering giving up on her. Ale's eyes watered as she took a deep breath. Stuck in memories of her and her sister when they would play in the forests on visits to the North. Stuck on every time her sister had defended her when their father would say the most hurtful things. Here she was was, unable to protect the one person in the world who always spoke up and defended her. "Well...I'm just...I'm just glad you're back." She finally said. Truly, it was all she could muster.

"Lady Aleja?" a smaller more fragile shaped woman approached the pair of sisters. The Elf turned to face her, wiping tears from the corners of her eyes. "Yes?" Quickly she fixed her posture. There was never any room for tears- not for long. Especially when you were a Celdrua. "Lord Seaman from House Kumm is looking for you." Aleja's eyes lit up. Lord Seaman was the Lord of another wealthy house. The two of them were working on a project together. "Excuse me sister. We still have much catching up to do, I'll find you after I have a quick chat. Duty calls." She said with a warm smile. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that dwelled at the pit of her stomach.

~ End ~
