It’s beautiful.” Xerxes says with glee as he marvels his newest weapon in his possession, the Jotunn’s Fang. After receiving payment from helping Zimnur with the ‘Bandit attack’, Xerxes immediately went back to Rush Valley and purchased the spear that caught his eye during the mission with Ikazuchi. The spear, said to incorporate the fang of an actual Jotunn, was finally in his possession. The icy blue weapon gleamed brightly in the sunlight as Xerxes sheathes his weapon, finishing up a little bit of training he conducted in a clearing and continues his stroll within the Worth Woodsea wilderness.

Once again, he had received a message from Zimnur requesting his help. Just like the last time, his message requested Xerxes specifically but was sent with a sense of urgency. He also requested that they meet at a different location instead of the cave entrance as they had done prior. He wondered just what could be the issue as everything seemed to have worked smoothly after the attack commenced. Right up until he left, Zimnur could not and would not stop talking about how perfect it was. Either someone discover Zimnur’s ruse or this was a more serious matter. Intrigued by either prospect, Xerxes continues forward.

Thank fuck you’re here.” Zimnur says as he sees Xerxes arrive, his surprising use of vulgarity catching the Desiertian off guard. “What’s going on? Why are we meeting here?” Xerxes says as he glances around and surveys the area. Bones littered the area and the smell of rotten flesh filled Xerxes’ nostrils. This area was akin to a graveyard. The Desiertian wondered just how someone as cowardly as Zimnur decided that this of all places was the best place to meet. He was either not as cowardly as he initially appeared or that something has spooked him so badly that he would take the risk.

That damned Gaksi is going to ruin everything. Ungrateful sow!” he yells as he paces around once more. Xerxes begins to ask just who Gaksi was but Zimnur’s words stop him. “Everything was going perfect. The damned elder was going to relinquish his title and I am the frontrunner for the position. Everyone believes everything that’s been happening except one. Damned. Person.” “I assume that’s Gaksi?” Xerxes sarcastically. “Yes…” Zimnur growls.

The Neko begins to explain just who Gaksi is, an extremely talented Neko whose abilities far surpass the elder’s skills. Due to her heroics and innate talent, Gaksi is also in the running to become the new chief. However, she accurately believes that Zimnur is not responsible for the exploits he claims to have achieved. She was a major voice of accusation when it came to the defeat of the wolf den, which prompted Zimnur to come up with the bandit attack. During the aftermath of the bandit attack, she was skeptical that someone of Zimnur’s strength would be able to defeat someone who had singlehandedly taken on a large majority of the settlement’s defense force barehanded and had the upper hand for a large portion of the skirmish. She mentioned to the elder that she was going to investigate the wolves’ den that night to find clues on just how they were defeated. Given that the majority of the settlement was firmly in Zimnur’s corner, she opted to go alone and discover the truth for herself. A confidant informed Zimnur of her plan, hence the urgency of his request and his current deranged demeanor.

I need her gone.” “Define ‘gone’.” Xerxes says as he moves closer towards the Neko. Zimnur pauses for a bit, seeming to be conflicted with himself. He struggled to form the words but after a deep breath, he steels himself. “...I need her dead.” He says with a troubled look on his face. He was concerned that those words could even come out of his mouth as, despite her troublesome nature, Gaksi was a fierce warrior. She was above and beyond an asset to the settlement. Her disappearance would hurt the core force tremendously but he knew that it had to be done. In order for his plan to work in totality, she needed to be removed permanently. “Fine. I’ll see to it that Gaksi is dealt with.” Xerxes says as he begins to head towards the cave. “She’ll likely be looking for clues. She was always analytical like that. Lead her away from the cave first just in case. Please…make sure it’s painless.” “No promises.” Xerxes says as he departs the area.

Thinking that the clearing from earlier would be the best arena for a skirmish should it come to that, Xerxes planned out the best way to lure Gaksi to the trap. The first part of the plan was the vial of clear liquid that Zimnur gave him during their last meeting. As highly as Zimnur spoke of Gaksi, she would easily recognize this as something of suspicion. Moving towards the clearing, Xerxes lets the vial drop from his hand to give the impression that it was lost during movement. The second part would be the spear he used to sever the Alpha’s head. Though he has cleaned and maintained it several times, Xerxes knew that the senses of the Neko would be able to smell the trace amounts of blood on it. The final part, the bandit clothing he wore previously, would be at the clearing itself. With the combination of the vial, the spear, and the clothing, he knew that she would take the bait. After placing the false clues, Xerxes made his way towards the clearing and awaited his prey.

The Desiertian leaned up against a tree as he patiently awaited his target to arrive. Night had just fallen and, given Zimnur’s detailed words about the woman, he knew that Gaksi wouldn’t take long to follow the clues. As if on call, he hears the all too familiar sounds of someone in the area. “Damn...it goes cold here.” a feminine voice rings out. “Don’t worry. You’ve found what you are looking for.” Xerxes says as he leaps down a short distance in front of her. The Neko was very beautiful, even by human standards. Her blonde hair reached just beyond her shoulders as she gripped the handle of an elegant sword sheathed on her right side and a pure black shield firmly in her left hand.

You! I knew there was something fishy going on. It all makes sense now.” she spits venomously, likely remembering Xerxes’ first visit within the settlement. He did not remember seeing her during that visit but did not discard the notation that she was there. “You are very bright. Zimnur was right to be concerned about you. I’ll be sure to inform him of such once I see him.” “Oh, you won’t be seeing him outsider. You’ve threatened the sanctity of our home. You are going to die here and Zimnur will answer for his crimes against the tribe.” She says as she draws her sword and points the tip of the blade towards Xerxes’ head. “Zimnur said that it would come to this. A pity.” He says as he draws Jotunn’s Fang, ready to unfortunately stain its blade with the Neko’s blood.

The clang of steal could be heard echoing as the two warriors clash with their weapons. Gaksi, surprisingly enough, had been a worthy challenge for Xerxes as they have fought throughout the night. She had met every strike he delivered with one of her own, her fierceness and determination shown in her eyes. The Desiertian felt bad for his eventual task of ending her life as she was a warrior that he could respect. He knew, however, that this needed to be done. It was not personal, just business.

As she goes for an overhead strike, Xerxes sees his opportunity. He quickly sidesteps the strike and delivers a piercing jab with the tip of Jotunn’s Fang. She barely dodges the assault but gets nicked just enough for the weapon’s nasty effect to start working. “The hell did you do to me?” She says as her body begins to move sluggish. “Jotunn’s Fang has the ability to slow down anything it cuts.” He says as he makes another quick slash to her body. She drops her sword to the ground and attempts to remove a concealed dagger but her reaction time is too slow. Xerxes smacks the dagger away and slashes her body several times, each time slowing her down more and more. Before long, her body stops moving. The Desiertian sighs as he sheathes his weapon and moves closer towards the Neko. “As a warrior, I commend your strength. The settlement will unfortunately suffer in your absence. This was just business though I know that will not ease you. Unfortunately, outside of this place being secluded, there as another reason I led you here.

As the sun began to rise, booming footsteps could be heard echoing. “This area is close to giants. They are largely inactive at night but during the daytime, they are usually out in force. Given the noise we’ve made and your blood, they’ll likely come. I’m sorry that I will not be able to grant you a warrior’s death but this is the only way that they would not be able to find your body. I grant you peace in the other world.” Xerxes gives a small bow to the woman before leaving as a large looming shadow appears over her. The sickening crunch could be heard as Xerxes shakes his head, heading back towards Zimnur.

Did you do it?” he says after the two meet up a few hours later. Xerxes nods his head in approval, still sad about Gaksi’s death. Xerxes explains the details of their skirmish along with his decision of how to rid Zimnur of the possibility of someone finding her body. The Neko shudders at the brutality but forces himself to stop thinking of it, knowing full well that this needed to happen. “Thank you…” he mumbles out as he places the sack of jewels in Xerxes’ hand before departing.
